glad to hear scans went well KLou and LadyGaGa pleased to add my good news too.. had my 20 week scan (at 19+4) yesterday and all measuring normal and baby very active. Placenta posterior which is probably why I'm feeling kicks and general movement fairly frequently now.

Phew.... and relax..

Only niggling problem now is the carpal (well actually cubital which is the pinkie and ring fingers) tunnel syndrome in my left hand which is pretty damn annoying. Fingers are numb and tingly 100% of the time and only thing I can do is keep the arm as straight as possible as the cubital problem originates in the elbow..easier said than done really, but I suppose not a big problem in the grand scheme of things.

Feeling a bit more relaxed now about buying things, sorting out the nursery etc so off shopping in a bit Grin

Happy Friday everyone...

MrsStevo · 04/03/2011 13:47

Yay Klou! Which one did you get in the end?

MrsStevo · 04/03/2011 13:51

And Yay RunDMC! So pleased about your scan too! I didn't know that about the posterior placenta - that's what mine is apparently, but it means nothing to me yet. Must google.....

Sorry to hear about the cubital tunnel nightmare. Hope it doesn't cause you any problems.

KLou111 · 04/03/2011 18:47

Great news on your scan RunDMC :)

Got the Angel Sounds one in the end MrsS, a lovely pale green one :)

littlemisslozza · 05/03/2011 15:22

Hi everyone, have just caught up on 2 weeks worth of posts phew! We have moved house and we've still got another 10 days until our phone line is connected so I've been offline since then.

Glad to hear about lovely scans and heartbeats Smile. I had my 16 week appt earlier this week but she wouldn't listen to the heartbeat as she said that the NICE guidelines had changed and recommended that they didn't try as you would only worry if she couldn't pick it up Sad. This is my first pg where I have had this, but last time she couldn't actually find it so I got sent for a scan, all was well though but I suppose I can see where they are coming from..... I have my first consultant appt on Thursday though so I'm hoping they will scan/listen to heartbeat then. If not I have to wait until the 31st for my 20 wk scan. I can feel the odd movement by the baby so I am reassured by that I suppose, just disapppointed not to hear the heartbeat as I had expected.

House move went really well, we have loads more space and the boys have settled in brilliantly. I am 30 in a couple of weeks and we're having a house-warming/30th birthday party and I'll be stone-cold sober.... I'm sure I'll be amused by everyone elses antics though!

SOrry for the long post, glad to hear you are all doing well.

Firawla · 05/03/2011 16:30

congrats on your new house! must be exciting, and so nice to get settled in now rather than last min before baby arrives. shame about not hearing the heartbeat though but hopefully consultant will do it for you

littlemissw · 05/03/2011 17:14

Well ladies, it looks like I'm in for a spot of shopping over the next few months ... after two girls, I'm expecting a boy!!!! Shock I think it will take a while to sink in as I was convinced it was another girl (& quite wanted another pink one). Over the moon though & sooooo excited!!!! :o :o :o

Charleigh0 · 05/03/2011 17:40

Congrats littlemissw this is my first time but don't know the sex yet! Hope all goes well x

MrsVidic · 05/03/2011 17:47

Congrats littlemissw ! i'm sure your girls will be thrilled to have a little brother to blame mess on! I know what you mean about shopping, if we have a bit we'll have a lot to do but were going to leave it so it's a surprise!

I have just hung up the last of my "normal clothes" and have moved into my "fat" clothes sob! But I was literally about to burst out of my leggings!

Went on a run this morning and felt as though my bump was massive and I needed a wee constantly! Yet I have to do something to make me feel better about my ever growing body!

I am sure my hands have lost weight as my engagrment ring is moving about loads, or are rings like jeans and sort of stretch ( I don't wear ant jewlery usually) it's platinum? Any clues?

I have spent lots of time with a friend who had just had her dd2 and I had forgotten how small they are when they arrive! Luckily she's bfeeding so my dd can see that's how babies get fed and get used to it!

Firawla · 05/03/2011 20:43

congrats on your boy littlemissw! thats lovely news

mrsv i dont think they tend to stretch so prob you have lost weight in your hands. normally my hands go bigger in pregnancy so the rings tend to get tighter on me not loose, but more towards the end

sleepyowl · 06/03/2011 15:45

Okay, so I am aware that what I am about to say is utterly ridiculous but... here goes.

I have a fairly formal party to go to next weekend and I don't know what on earth to wear. Confused

The couple of maternity dresses I bought look ridiculous at the moment, due to the fact they are massively longer at the front than the back. My normal 'party' clothes don't fit properly (at best they make me feel fat rather than pregnant, at worst they won't do up over my gargantuan boobs).

DH husband tells me to wear whatever I feel comfortable in but somehow I think tracky bottoms (or pyjamas) aren't quite going to cut it.

I don't actually expect anyone to have a miracle cure for me. Just wanted to have a little moan. Thanks. :)

mrsred · 06/03/2011 18:00

I also have a party next week, although maybe not as formal as yours. I went out and bought new maternity dress from mojo mamma bebe. I now need to check if it's longer at front than back!

Firawla · 06/03/2011 19:40

sleepy owl maybe just a size bigger of normal clothes then? possibly might be okay if you are kinda in between the normal clothes and maternity clothes stage? if you get any time during the week go and try a few things on and sure you'd find something.

i finally went and got some maternity clothes today, about time @ coming up to 18 weeks and bump is pretty big i think cos its 3rd one just been showing for agess, and really couldnt keep squeezing self into normal trousers any longer, so uncomfy so got some new jeans will feel a lot better in those i think. got from debenhams, which atleast had a few thing in. was not too easy finding maternity clothes in the shops, seems its becoming less and less available just going to online instead. personally i would have thought maternity clothes is one you want to try on cos you are not quite sure of the size, so atleast i found something. i didnt want to have to order it and then faff around if not suitable

LadyGoneGaga · 06/03/2011 19:42

I've got a non-maternity dress that just happens to be empire line style with a pleated section in front. Works great as a maternity type formal dress. Maybe have a look and see if you can see something similar in non-maternity as you will get the wear afterwards then?

coastgirl · 06/03/2011 21:34

sleepyowl, lots of shops have mid-season sales on and I found loads of floaty/tunicy dresses today that fit fine in non-maternity sizes - just wear a size up. I went and bought lots of things today, only one of them maternity because nowhere really sells it in my town, but lots of long vests a size up, empire-line tunics, etc, which should keep me going for a while.

This is fab.

Yukana · 06/03/2011 21:37

Congratulations littlemiss!

I feel happy as I have found a couple of mothers nearby (one just up the road!) who I have become friends with, and as I was feeling lonely looking forward to having someone besides family to talk to, I am excited!

I may have felt some movement from the baby today, but I am unsure. My scan is in two weeks anyway, and my cold has almost cleared up!

I seem to be having a nightmare and beyond when it comes to finding nice maternity clothing. I feel nervous about trying jeans or normal trousers as my thighs are huge and the prospect of them is rather uncomfortable. I put on a fair bit of weight before I found out I was pregnant so I can't seem to wear anything that's flattering!

Anu3 · 07/03/2011 11:29

Hello ladies!

Glad to hear about lovely scans and heartbeats from a lot of you :) I had my 18 week appointment with this morning and DH and me got to hear our little ones hearbeat too!! It was all soo exciting and amazing that I welled up and then couldnt stop the tears and DH had to hold me for about 5 minutes after!! pregnancy hormones must be doing this to me!!! Blush

Looking forward to the 20 week scan on the 29th of March - Ill be 21+4 by then so a bit impatient but cant wait for it! I still havent felt the baby though i did feel a twitch yesterday but wasnt sure what it was!

Congratulations littllemiss! How exciting for you :)

MrsChemist · 07/03/2011 11:35

I've got a MN meet up in a few weeks time and haven't got a clue what to wear. The pressure is on to look nice, but smart casual maternity wear that I actually like completely alludes me.

MorningsMadness · 07/03/2011 11:41

Morning all,
Any of you movers have any thoughts on whether to get DD (4yr old) out of the house with MIL so she doesn't see all the packing up and moving out or bring her into the house when it's empty so she can see we've taken everything? Getting diff advice from diff people as usual!
4th party was yesterday and move is on Thursday so I'm not sure whether not feeling movement is worrying due to stress or just because I can't focus on anything for more than two mins ha ha.

Also, anyone have any cures for stuffy nose that keeps you up all night everynight? Not sure what I can actually take, nothing if I remember correctly from 1st time round!

Fab news on all the scans - 4 wks before 20wk for me and can't wait!

bettyboo83 · 07/03/2011 12:59

Have you tried steaming MorningsMadness? Fill a bowl with hot water and breathe in with a tea towel over your head - very attractive! No clue about your moving problem though sorry!

Still can't feel any movement here Sad though the midwife said I can go on Thursday and she'll try and listen to the heartbeat. It's soooo long til my scan on the 29th!

On the plus side I got some great maternity jeans from Red Herring in Debenhams last week. They have elasticated pockets rather than an over-bump band so they don't fall down, yey! Grin

jspark123 · 07/03/2011 15:10

Hi all, sorry not posted in ages but keeping up with all your posts. I had a little scare two weeks ago when I came back high risk for spina bifida according to my blood results, so got me in for an urgent scan, and thankfully everything looked fine, given a 99% certainty it hasn't got SB. On the plus side I got to have an extra long scan, and the doctor checked all of the other organs and said they were fine too, also got 2 free pics! Have my 20 week scan on 24th so not too long to wait. Not sure whether the occasional flutters are bowel or baby Blush
Purchased my first items of maternity wear yesterday after struggling to get into my normal jeans and feeling uncomfortable by end of the day, £14 for pair of comfy skinny jeans from Matalan, and pretty floaty white blouse in the sale for £7! Bargains!

MrsStevo · 07/03/2011 15:19

Hello all, mind if I have a quick whinge?

Basically, my boiler bust on friday night so no hot water or heating since then. British gas promised theyd come out between 12-6 on Saturday (which was a pain for us as we were supposed to be travelling to York for a family thing that day, but nevermind). Anyway, they called at 5:50pm to say that they weren't coming. Huge argument ensued and, long story short, I'm waiting a call back from management. Anyway, burst into tears about this on Saturday as I was SO angry and SO upset about missing time with my family. Went to York on Sat night in the end - had a lovely 24ish hours with my family - but had a stonking headache and sore throat on Sunday. By the time we got home on Sunday night, I had all over muscle ache, headache and sore throat and felt REALLY sorry for myself.

I have taken 2 lots of paracetamol (yesterday), but have stuck to honey and lemon today and the occasional Locket when throat was super sore. Now I'm worried that I've overdone it on the paracetmol, read somewhere that you should avoid honey in pregnancy and that lockets are also bad news. Argh! I feel horrible - not snotty / bunged up, just achey and sore. Any tips on how to feel better - that don't include the use of hot water or heating???!!

Sorry for self-centredness. I am reading all of your posts with interest and smiling at the news of scans and heartbeats :)

Carnival · 07/03/2011 15:49

Aw, MrsStevo, bloody BG - I've had my own problems with them, grrrr.

2 lots of 2 tablets of paracetamol doesn't sound too much. I was taking the honey and lemon also on the basis that the boiling water would kill any bugs? Not sure, but I'm sure someone will be able to put us right.

Hope you feeling better soon. How about surfing for a nice top/trousers for a wee treat for yourself - always works for me! xx

Teladi · 07/03/2011 15:54

MrsS, pretty sure honey is OK when pregnant, but it shouldn't be given to wee ones under a certain age. Will try to find you some sort of back up for this assertion!

MrsVidic · 07/03/2011 16:42

MrsS I have had honey most days with both pregs and no problem for me! Also the british gas thing would have bought me to tears when I'm not preg so I wouldn't worry about your reaction!
