We also heard the baby's heartbeat today! There were lots of movement noises too even though I can't feel them - baby is quite active. And the placenta sounds funky, doesn't it? First timer here so easily impressed.

KLou111 · 24/02/2011 19:04

oooo so many of us hearing the heartbeats today!! First timer here too, it's such a fantastic experience!

MrsV I really enjoyed planning our wedding, it went without a hitch and so perfect that most people said I should go into wedding planning lol!
However, I didn't have a baby to look after!

If you need any advice, just let me know. My biggest hint would be though, especially if you have a top budget in mind, but want a Wedding that seems like it cost double, shop on the internet in America! Things are sooooo much cheaper there. If you spend the same as what you would spend here, you will get so much better quality, and looks more expensive! :)

daisysair · 24/02/2011 20:11

mrs V will definitely be doing nature's lipo (bf) but unfortunately pre, during and post pregnancy exercise is out thanks to chronic illness... (watching what i eat-extras wise-is how i've maintained a healthy weight so far...)

as for weddings, my best tip is to decide what YOU want. I wanted a small intimate wedding, which was "me/us" and planned it all within about 8 weeks max on a shoestring budget.

majormoo · 24/02/2011 23:20

Mrs v I loved planning my wedding but I also did not have a pregnancy to cope with at the same time.
I will be digging out summer maternity clothes from when I had DD in Aug 03 and buying nothing new so I will not be exactly on trend for the 2011 season.
I have such bad back ache-well more like bum/hip ache. Driving me mad when I walk up stairs etc. Was so painful after driving my DD to her ballet lesson yesterday I ended up laughing hysterically. Boys must think their mum has gone mad! I hope it passes soon. With three kids to look after it is a nightmare.

daisysair · 25/02/2011 08:40

meant to say re boobs: mine have already gone up 3 cup sizes!!! I highly recommend the moulded cup tshirt bras as they have no seams at the nipples to further irritate them. the other thing I've fallen in love with (too early for them yet for me I think) is the nursing bras from figleaves-their own brand. go from B to G cups and look soooooo pretty! (don't all buying them mind, leave some for me!)

Rozeeglow · 25/02/2011 11:01

So great to hear about the heartbeats everyone is getting to hear. I'm supposed to be having my midwife app on Monday but I haven't been given a time and she's on holiday... I've a feeling I'll have to reschedule.

I'm quite looking forward to maternity clothes shopping although with the weight I lost in the first tri my normal clothes are actually a little big at the moment Hmm I'm guessing this will change rapidly now I can actually keep food down and rediscovered my love of chocolate Grin

minicorrect · 25/02/2011 11:18

Wedding tip: don't get too stressed by the organisation and forget to enjoy it like I did!! DIY is much, much cheaper than getting someone else to do things, but if you're a control freak like me, it might be worth spending the extra to take the pressure off. Often fantasise about doing it again someday and inviting the right people (rather than the ones I felt obliged to invite) and making it about fun not about impressing people.
Feeling all happy today as I'm not in work again until 7 March which is nearly half way (I'll be 19w+1) and will hopefully be 3 weeks from having someone return from maternity leave and take one of my guys off me to give me some breathing space. Am busy planning all the lovely things we're going to do with DD next week, the sun's trying to come out and I've got good music to work to. All good!

Yukana · 25/02/2011 13:56

Afternoon everyone, popping in after a while, had a hellish few days. Welcome to all the newbies. :)

My eyes have been hurting all the time, my head has been sensitive or hurting, and I feel tired most of the time. Has anyone experienced this/know the cause?
It's not as if I'm getting zero sleep, but I have never slept as well as someone who sleeps all the way through the night without stopping. Usually I wake up because I'm thirsty, hungry, or need the loo.

Other than the above, all is well on my end! I often wonder what the baby is doing in there, I get pains every now and then but not as much as before. My scan is in four weeks, I am very much looking forward to it.

Kezzamo · 25/02/2011 16:14

Hi every one, my baby is due on 28th aug 2011. I have had the most awful week with a 1:49 chance of DS at our nuchal scan on tuesday. CVS less that 17 hours later and I am very happy to report that we got the all clear today! Baby is fine. I am so thankful and finally able relax, a little! (until the 2 weeks of increased chance of MC pass!)

I have a question for you. I had my CVS on 23rd Feb and am due to be going on my mates hen do in dublin on 3rd March (1 week 3 days) I have done all the planning and have all the "stuff" for the girls. Midwife and consultant said should be fine. Had no probs from the CVS. Should I go? I am really torn???

thanks mums xx

KLou111 · 25/02/2011 16:30

Hi Kezzamo, glad everything is OK! I would have thgouht if your MW and consultant said it was OK to go, then go, but it obviously depends on what you will be doing while you are there :)

I've got my triple blood test on Wednesday, hope everything is OK for me too

MrsStevo · 25/02/2011 17:11

Yukana - I'm the same, have had a headache on and off for about 3 days (I never normally get them), my eyes are dodgy to the point where I can't wear my contacts at the mo so have to stick to glasses and I'm permanently knackered (contemplating a quick nap now before DH gets home from work). I'm sleeping pretty well at night, drinking loads of water, eating all the right stuff and generally otherwise feel fine, so I have no idea what it's all about.

kezzamo - I second what KLou says and if MW and Consultant reckon it's ok then go for it....if you are feeling up to it! The thought of going on a hen doo right now is not something I'd be up for, but then I'm just becoming more of a tired bore with
everyday that passes!

MrsV - I'LL PLAN YOUR WEDDING!!!! I LOVED planning mine and felt totally bereft when it was all over. But I totally agree with what minicorrect said - don't get so stressed that you lose focus on what the point of the whole day is ... it is easily done.

Thanks for all your advice and re-assurance about the pains I had. They seem to have subsided (for now) so I'm not worried. I did call my mw (who wasn't there and I got some locum woman who was a bit mean) and she said basically not to worry but to go to A&E if they got really bad! I STILL don't have a bump OR any form of movement down there (aside from bowel, sorry if TMI!) so I'm still remaining unconvinced that there are babies in there ... even if the 3 scans I've already had say otherwise! I also don't have any of the "porn star norks" you lot keep referring to! Mine still look just the same as always Envy.

It just won't seem real until I can see / feel the changes I think. HURRY UP AND WRIGGLE BABIES!!!

One last thing (and then I'll stop clogging up the whole thread with epic posts) - how long does it date for NT results to come through? I forgot to ask when I had mine done (last Wed) - obviously I got the measurements, but not the actual results based on bloods etc. Thanks!

Yukana · 25/02/2011 17:44

I'll have to ask my midwife or doctor about the eye thing, just make sure to get lots of rest MrsS! I laughed at the porn star norks comment, though I'm pretty sure mine have gone up at least two sizes.. As for baby movements, none here really either, but as it's my first I probably can't tell!

bellamysbride · 25/02/2011 18:58

Hi all. I have been watching but not posting. Actually did do one mega (in size not contentGrin) post but I lost it!

Hi Kezzamo. Congratulations, you must feel elated. Do you think you will enjoy the hen do if you go? If you are excited by the prospect I would say go for it. The medical professionals say 'yay' and perhaps it would keep your mind off things. I am speaking as someone who loves a hen do Smile.

MrsStevo no movement here and just a bit fatter than usual. I do have bigger boobs than usual but that isn't saying much!

I had a midwife appt yesterday. They were running 1 1/2 hrs late and I had a very energetic DS with me. It was a nightmare. Then all they did was BP and urine and asked me if I was eating ok. Didn't listen to the heartbeat as she said she would leave it to the consultant next week. Moan over!

Hope everyone is ok... and Rozeeglow are your bowels doing their job now?? I was Shock at how long it had been for you!

Leilandri · 26/02/2011 10:11

Woohoo! 16 weeks today Grin
Have got midwife on Thurs, and consultant the week after, so will hopefully come away from that with a date for my ELCS.

Can't wait to hear the heartbeat, it's always magical.
Hope everyone else is doing ok?
Off for a Brew and Biscuit XX

MrsVidic · 26/02/2011 11:19

MrsS you can gladly plan my wedding! I tried to come up with a to do list as I am the queen of lists and ended up drawing some zoo animals, hmm here was me thinking I didn't have baby brain.

I'm having z good day, dp looked after dd so I could do the big shop on my own. It was really strange as I have not done the food shopcwithout a child since I had dd. I forgot and nearly parked in a mum and baby space!

I felt the baby move loads through the night and am sure I felt a kick as well as the usual flutter.

Anyone thought of any names yet? What do you think of ferguson for a boy? Please be brutally honest!

bellamysbride · 26/02/2011 13:45

Oooo MrsV love fergus. But my son has a rather unusual Grin name so you might want to take my opinion with a pinch of salt.

bettyboo83 · 26/02/2011 13:54

Hey everyone,

MrsV in most wedding magazines they have a 'to do' list (with suggested budgets Hmm) which is quite useful. Just don't panic and enjoy it Smile

It's so exciting everyone hearing the heartbeats! My midwife said I can go when I'm 17 weeks to have a listen so I think I will. It seems soooo long until my 20 week scan.

I don't think I've felt any movements yet but I'm only 16 weeks tomorrow and it's my first.

I've bought some mat jeans from New Look with an over bump band but they are far too big and fall down when I walk! Shock Very comfy for watching TV in though, ha ha! xxx

bettyboo83 · 26/02/2011 13:55

PS Bellamysbride what's your DS's unusual name? I'm intrigued Smile xxx

CappuccinoCarrie · 26/02/2011 14:24

I'm back from hols and looking big! 15 weeks now. Only 48 hours til I finally have my scan and see whether or not there is actually a baby in there or if I've just eaten too many pies! Can't wait to be able to tell the children. DD randomly asked DH where babies come from today...
Instead of buying Heat magazine, I bought "knitting for baby" magazine...what's happening to me?!! Bought some nice tops from H&M this morning, including a lovely black lightweight hoodie, which means the Bench hoodie I've been wearing for the last 6 weeks can finally have a wash . Got a floaty top that will do for smart/casual/general summer wear, and can hopefully be dressed up for a wedding we're going to in May. Also got another of H&M's legendary looooong vests, which are great even when you're not pg :)

mrsv I def prefer Fergus to Ferguson (I only know that as a surname). DH and I have rather different opinions on baby names, the only thing we've agreed is that we're not going to agree on a name, so we'll wait til the baby is born, see what it is, and then think about what name suits. This might be a bad plan, but will stop many of the arguments we had over DD and DS!

KLou111 · 26/02/2011 15:24

Prefer Fergus Mrsv :)

Ava Jayne (preferred) or Isla Jayne here for a girl and Iwan (Ewan) John for a boy. Picked them before we even started trying :)

Still no bump, but I know where baby is now and she/he is still quite low. MW said I'll probably have a neat little bump (you just watch me bloody explode in a few weeks!!)

MrsChemist · 26/02/2011 17:29

I went shopping today as well Smile

I just went out with my parents because I was bored, but they bought DS and I lunch and then I went to look in Mamas and Papas. I saw a nice pair of jeans but there were £££ (and I am skint) my mum asked if I was getting them. I said no, and she asked if I needed them, again I said no (I have a few pairs from last time) and then she said she would buy them as a gift.

I also pointed out a nice dress, she asked me what size I was and said she would buy that as well, for me to wear at my uncle's wedding Grin

I feel all happy as I have new clothes. I haven't bought new clothes in such a long time.

bettyboo83 · 26/02/2011 19:04

Mums are great aren't they MrsC Grin We're really skint having just bought a house, are getting married in December and now have the baby en route, and my Mum has just told me that she will buy our pram which will be a huge help.

Firawla · 26/02/2011 19:18

aww mrsC thats lovely of your mum

i am hoping to go shopping tomorrow i am just mainly living in jogging bottoms because thats the most comfy thing rather than squeezing into my normal clothes with a quite big bump, so desperately need new and keep not being able to make time to go shopping, so i hope it will be tomorrow!

was feeling quite emotional and tired so bit of shopping may cheer me up. anyone else just cry for no reason? i think it may be pregnancy hormones as im not usually quite this bad. was out with dh last night and ended up crying because i felt a waiter was rude to me..bit embarrasing Blush
with my ds1 i remember crying my eyes out at some nature docus cos i felt sorry for the baby elephant so i think i have a tendancy to get like this but rather not cry in public though!

my 20 weeks scan feels like ages away too i am really wishing for it to hurry up. but dont think dh will be able to come as he's moving to a new job that week which is a shame :( so much nicer to go together, makes it more exciting but i suppose it will still be exciting for me by myself

hope everyone is well, have been reading all the posts but just didnt reply

daisysair · 26/02/2011 19:36

firawla am definitely more prone to crying since being pregnant!! you're not alone.

mrsC yay for a) finding clothes and b) being bought them!!

I'm living in my M+P jeans and have to resort to joggers on the day they get washed and dried Wink

really tired tonight(today really), so am off to have a virtual Wine and yummy food.

Hersetta · 27/02/2011 08:59

Sorry not been around much. DD has had chicken pox this week. All spots now scabbed over so we are going out for the day to the zoo as she needs to get out before she wrecks the house!

It's my birthday tomorrow and DH and I are out for an early dinner tonight and we then have tickets to see Stephen k Amos (comedan) so that will be a nice day for us. My birthday treat to me is that I've finally done something about getting a cleaner as I've been talking about it since I went back to work after DD was born. They are starting next friday and are cleaning and doing all my ironing (my least favourite job in the world) so am so happy!!

18 weeks today and still haven't felt the baby move but I put that down to my jelly belly!! I have my 20 week scan on March 15th so only a couple of more weeks to wait and we find out if the sonographer was right at my nuchal and it is indeed a second DD.

Also off to Spain with DD on Saturday to see my Mum who lives there and got a phone call from her yesterday to say the weather was lovely and they went out for lunch in shorts and t shirs. Can't wait!!
