Mrs S left hand side is the bowel. Dont forget the bowel goes round and up and over the uterus. (and very likely will be squashed up certainly in your double beanage case! There are alot of D&V bugs going round at the min.... or maybe you just ate something that your bowel didnt like!

Leil - like the sound of the T's with the hands off the bump message :)

i am 16+3 today :)

Anu3 · 23/02/2011 15:23

MrsS Sounds like Round ligament pain to me - I had it a lot esp. in the 14th and 15th week. It gets better though!

nickstermum Im just 1 day ahead at 16+4 today :) When do you actually start to feel the baby kicking? Is it around the 18th week? I cant seem to wait!! Grin

KLou111 · 23/02/2011 15:39

Wish I had a doppler selina, not felt baby since last Friday when I had bad cramp. It's times like these where I wish my mum wasn't retired and still had all her MW gear!! Got my 16 week appt anyway tomorrow, so hopefully hear little one then Grin

Welcome and congrats Nat! Will add you to the due date list if you're not on already :)

I shall join you for a Brew KT, finally got some decaf ground coffee yesterday so can use my lovely coffee machine again yay! Latte's all round this morning :)

Clothes wise I wear a lot of dresses and have found that although they are very forgiving over my developing bump they are simply not fitting over my flipping enormous boobs. I've bought a couple of jersey maternity dresses from asos clearance (£12 each) and they arrived today. They're lovely... but really quite short (I'm 5'8" with most of my height in my legs). They'll be fine with leggings or really thick tights but the idea was that I'd be able to wear them all the way through, including in the summer with no tights. Can't really see that happening though.

A friend of mine has also just passed me a stack of her old maternity clothes so I have plenty of basic tops but it's going to be trousers that I have to go and buy soon as I now have no trousers or jeans that fit. I won't buy those online as trouser shopping is always a nightmare of trying to find some that fit and flatter and I can't see maternity trousers being any different. The only problem is my the town I live in is too small to have any maternity shops, or for any of the other shops to stock their maternity ranges. I could easily travel to the next town over but I teach there and although all the staff know the parents don't (and I don't want them to yet) and you can guarantee I'd get caught. Hmmm.

I'll stop waffling now. One last thing... I'm loving lemon sherbets at the moment.

Annie456 · 23/02/2011 18:37

Hmmm have been thinking about the "D" issue since mrsstevo posted and read that after 48 hours you should go to your GP. It got me thinking, I ran out of my Pregnacare vitamins 2 days ago and switched to the Sanatogen Mother To Be vitamins that the doc was giving out...could this have brought on the "D" for me? Anyone else taking these and had an upset stomach? I'm past 13 weeks now so I might skip the pregnancy vits tonight and see if it helps? Any thoughts on the change of vits causing "d"? Confused

nickstermum · 23/02/2011 18:43

I wouldnt have thought so annie...? Maybe a bug?

anu i have felt some movement i think, but my placenta is anterior which muffles movement early on. Its my second and rather than feeling flutters its felt like stabbing by toe nails !! or i can feel something suddenly like the baby turning over... bizarre really! Only every now and again.. although have suffered gurgling wind recently Confused

LifeOfKate · 23/02/2011 20:11

Anu - don't worry about not feeling the baby yet, I think I was about 20 weeks last time before I realised that it was the baby and not my digestive system! Between 18 and 22 weeks is perfectly normal for a first timer :)
I am feeling it already this time and also braxton hicks which I definitely don't remember until much later last time Confused

RugbyWidow7 · 23/02/2011 20:16

I have also succumbed to the sweet tooth I have developed in pregnancy. I've been eating soo sooo many sweets, plus biscuits and cakes. Not good!

I keep wondering if I can feel my baby - at night only - I get a bit of a fluttery feeling and have to try to differentiate it from wind Blush! Is that what it feels like?

Also have lots of period-type pains. It must be the stretching. I've been having it loads recently.

Just enjoying my recorded One Born Every Minute, from this week as DH is away, wow! [sweats profusely]

MrsVidic · 23/02/2011 20:33

rugby that's the baby you can feel! I can only feel mine at night, trust me in a few months it will keep you awake!

Welcome new people!

Wow I can't believe how fast this week is going, I'm doing a bit of overtime to help out, I usually only do 2.5 days but I'm doing sn extra day for a few weeks. I'm feeling very guilty though, I will really miss dd on Friday.
I never thought I'd say this but I could never work full time with small dc's . I'd miss them too much.

My bump has grown and I too have been indulging my sweet tooth. Fruity
Lollies are a hit! Sweets are so my new chocolate!

Also I've been farting like a trooper Blush anyone else?

RugbyWidow7 · 23/02/2011 21:57

Thanks MrsV - ooh how exciting. And if I prod my stomach around a bit (like the sonographer did extensively!), maybe I'll get it to do it again Smile !

I told work today, which was so great. It's now completely out in the open. Eek. Roll on that 16 week appointment, for reassurance again that it's all real!

mrsred · 23/02/2011 22:12

sleepyowl - can i suggest that you try GAP for jeans and maybe trousers, i am about 5'10", even their normal length jeans are long enough for me, the long ones are very generous, i haven't bought any trousers, but suspect that they may be the same. i think maternity wear is usually stocked in the GAP kids stores, but perhaps worth checking before you trek over to next town?

MrsVidic · 24/02/2011 07:05

Regarding mat wear, having had dd in July I would really suggest if you want to get the best out of your money and don't need office gear to buy a bigger size from a cheap store, for example ive gone size 12 in leggins from matalan with flirty long tops. Reason being mat clothes will fall off you at an early stage and are generally more expensive. Also these outfits will do for sept when we are still a little bumpy and are good for bfeeding in.

Also were going to be round in the hot months so maxi dresses and light clothes will be cool enough and you wont be wearing the clothes you are now.

Completly up to you guys obviously but I bought lots of jeans last time that are a size too big this time so were a complete waste of cash. However gap and new look were the best for value and wear and tear.

KTisPG · 24/02/2011 08:03

Re mat clothes I'm really struggling to find nice work tops. Everythings either too casual or really expensive. I'm hoping when the new spring/summer lines come in properly there will be more. Luckily I'm not in the office everyday so can slob out in my leggings and casual tops. And how come we can put a man on the moon but we can't invent a pair of maternity trousers that stay up???

davidtennantsmistress · 24/02/2011 09:48

hi all, am still lurking, good to see you all nattering about maternity wear - I have been wondering if to get some, but atm just buying the next size up gypsy type tops - mostly as they're fitted under the boobs then float. :)

we had our scan on monday, clydie (as we call her) is now 14+2 (they've brought my date forward to the 23rd.)

only hoping and preying DP will be home as he's away with work - the joy.

She seems fairly laid back and chilled in there - didn't want to move, woke up for a stretch then crossed her legs again and went promptly back to sleep after a little drink lol.

DP loved being able to see the brain and toes moving. have also been feeling movements now for about a week or so but it's not every day.

how's everyone else doing?

davidtennantsmistress · 24/02/2011 09:54

oh also, has anyone elses norks got HUGE?!? I was in the bath tues looked down and said to DP bloody hell where did they come from - they're deffo fuller. :)

KLou111 · 24/02/2011 10:51

Norks not grown DTM but nipples are fooking killing!!! Drying myself after a shower is the WORST!

Can't really comment on the mat wear at the mo :( still no bump.

16 weeks today whoop whoop!! Roll on 1:30pm, hope can hear little ones heartbeat, DH going to record it :)

littlemissw · 24/02/2011 10:53

davidtennantsmistress Mine get RIDICULOUS when I'm pregnant and its always been the first sign that I am. With DD1 I went from a B cup to an H!!!!! Shock I had myself measured at 3 different shops because I just couldn't believe it!

Second time around it wasn't quite so drastic, but I did go up 4 cup sizes. This time I've gone up by two so far.

DH has never been too sure about the drastic increase ... he's more of a bum man :o

davidtennantsmistress · 24/02/2011 10:57

Jesus little w - that's huge thought mine were bad with DS from a D to an E - but they told me 'breast feed and they'll shrink' did they bugger!! :o See DP's logic is good bum = good boobs. (bless him he's young he'll learn they go saggy hahaha).

K Bear - YAY so glad you can hear the heart, it's little a little horse clipping along. :) n

minicorrect · 24/02/2011 11:14

My boobs have also grown - nice to have them back after they deflated when I stopped bf-ing but they do hurt sometimes - mostly when DD sticks her elbow in them!

Agree on bigger sizes for clothes - tending towards empire line dresses - got a lovely black jersey one from Matalan the other week - although it might be a bit indecent around the bust area without a top underneath - but if you're proud to show the beauties off, then it's great for that Wink

Feeling better today but managed to lose 3 lbs over 48 hours so was a bit surprised at that. Bump looked smaller today, but no doubt eating normally again will grow it again!!

Got next week off work so counting down the hours now - can't wait to get lots and lots of sleep and potter in the garden and spend time with DD.

Anu3 · 24/02/2011 14:28

Thanks nickstermum and lifeofkate - That reassuring! I just have to be patient about feeling the baby i guess!

I have a little bump now that is bigger on some days than the others! Is that the bloating thats doing it? Freaks me out that it changes like that!

On maternity wear i only wear dresses now as its the most comfortable for me! I cant bear to wear trousers or jeans anymore. I found 3 lovely dresses at the sale last week of which 2 are wrap around dresses! I absolutely love them!! I think i can use it for a long time to come as bigger the bump gets all i do it loosen the belt. Definetely worth investing in one ladies - They are smart enough to wear to work and something you can use post pregnancy to (just tighten the belt!) Grin

KLou111 · 24/02/2011 15:59

OMG we heard our little one's heartbeat. The most beautiful sound in the world!! DH started welling up, I couldn't stop grinning, just gorgeous! Grin
DH recorded it too so we have that to keep forever :) Am over the moon, can't stop watching it!

MW also felt where baby is and she told us to feel, there is only a slight little bump at the mo, but nice to know where he/she is now :)

dundeemarmalade · 24/02/2011 16:28

davidtennantsmistress i've lined up my delightful selection of nursing bras already - based on last time, starting at 34H. I despaired of maternity and nursing bras last time - was actually the worst part of the whole thing, as it went on for as long as I carried on bf. Why bra-designers think you can carry around a couple of decent sized cantaloupe melons (size and weight pretty exact when full of milk!) in one layer of lycra/cotton blend without them literally falling out of the top I don't know.

Re. maternity stuff, I got a couple of pairs of mothercare jeans last time with adjustable elastic at the top of the over-bump bit. Not big enough at the moment but in a few weeks I'll be comfy. For now it's leggings and long tops/dresses all the way.

Bought some new P.E. kit for going to gym which I joined this week Shock from mothercare but def. going to take back - trousers have this massive band of elastic at hip height which just acts like a massive and very uncomfy tourniquet! weird. Just going to hold my head high in old very comfy bump slob-pants from last time - highly recommend their boxes of basics - not cheap but very wearable. I do need a big badge that says "slightly pregnant - not tubby" though...

daisysair · 24/02/2011 17:15

KLou I heard the heartbeat today. amazing isn't it?!?! Ha the MW said before "right this might take a while to find, don't be alarmed" shoved the probe on and whooshwhooshwhoosh straight away!!! :o

Asked about a homebirth today, but MW didn't seem keen but will discuss it later-recommends the midwifeled unit locally tho so... ooh and found out that there are antenatal classes on the nhs that I'll be invited to at around 28 weeks, on a Sunday to include partners!!!!!

I am wearing a pair of mama and papa's maternity jeans, if you flip the over the bump bit down and remember there's elastic adjustment before the band, they're staying up pretty well :D

MrsV am :)y that you are a size 12, going up a size after lil one in July!!! Well done you, am hoping not to gain too much weight, but I'm feeding the (now no longer as regular) nausea Hmm

JenniL1977 · 24/02/2011 18:04

Had my 15wk MW appt today too. Heartbeat hammering away in there, she couldn't keep tracking it as he was flipping about in there! Pretty sure I can feel movement pretty regularly now, although I could just be kidding myself and it's wind! :) she's scared the bejeesus out of me though, says I'm measuring 16 weeks as to where my uterus is (I'm 15+1 today) then said "do big babies run in your family?" They do. Massive ones (brother 10lb5, dad 12lb2!!! I was 9lb and I'm only a wee thing) then grimaced when I said yes.
She also said they might not let me have a homebirth but I'll have to be dead in a box before I let them take me to hospital!
Am off to London this weekend, can't wait. DH is on a stag do and they're all staying at our house (oh shit!)
Anu my bump gets bigger and smaller. I'm sure it'll all settle into place soon :)

MrsVidic · 24/02/2011 18:38

daisy my dd was born July 09 so it's not that impressive. However of you keep active in preg it is so much easier to get it shape, that mixed with natures free lipo suction ( breast feeding) Grin

I am dreading planning the wedding, we think Xmas 2012. I bought a wedding mag today and feel so out of my depth, I'm seriously considering a wedding planner lol!

My bump is really sore today as it's growing, however I still only look like I need a poo! Have put on 9 pounds though!
