Envy I waaaaant a buuuuuump!

But I'll settle for a scan in 2 sleeps, even if it is the NT scan that I'm not sure I actually want.

I am poooooooped at the moment - 12+6 today and feel so tired already.

One of my best friends asked me to be her bridesmaid this weekend! Much blubbing and emotional hugging from Mrs Hormonal over here - I was so honoured that she asked me. Fortunately they aren't getting married until July 2012 so I'll have around a year to get back into some sort of reasonable bridesmaids-shape after I pop these two out. I'm so excited for her! I loooooove weddings! MrsV - you must keep us posted on all your wedding plans too!!

JenniL1977 · 15/02/2011 06:35

MrsS plenty of time for bumps yet. We'll all be whinging about them in 3 months. My step-mum was telling me the other day about how an unbelievably unsympathetic traffic warden gave her a ticket for going over her time when she was 8 months pg with my brother - the two cars either side of her had parked so close she couldn't fit herself back into the car till they moved!

Why do I keep waking up at 5am????! I love sleeping. It's my favourite thing to do in the world! I miss it! :(

littlemisslozza · 15/02/2011 07:41

MrsStevo that's lovely, I'm going to be a bridesmaid in June 2012 (and DS1 will be page boy) and I'm really looking forward to it! I've been almost back to normal by that point before so it will give me extra motivation. Good luck with your scan too!

Jenni it's definitely natures cruel way of getting you used to waking up at night!

RugbyWidow7 · 15/02/2011 10:56

Jenni I keep waking up ridiculously early too, then am whacked by late afternoon! It's not on. I definitely feel that it's all nature's way of getting the practice in. Esp. when combined with the loo trips in the night.

Feeling a bit weird about it all at the moment actually, worrying about how we'll cope with the lack of sleep and social side. How do relationships get through it all?! Confused

I want a bump too! Feel like a fraudster.

Anu3 · 15/02/2011 10:57

Ladies ? I?ve just had the most unpleasant experience on the tube this morning getting to work :( 2 stops before i had to get off this man got into the tube and plonked himself on the empty seat besides me.. He was dressed to go to work but obviously had over done it last night because he reeked of alcohol!!!!! ShockAfter about 3 mins I had to get up cause I was beginning to feel so sick and my system couldn?t take it anymore. I got off at my stop and hoped the fresh air outside the tube station would make me feel better but it didn?t and the minute i reached work i had to run to toilet to throw up and it was so bad i was literally in there for 30 mins only finishing when there was nothing left inside me!
Id been nausea free for 2 1/2 whole weeks up until now and thought that was the end of it but today set a whole new meaning to 'throwing up' for me. Im feeling so tired and sick now it feels horrible. Oh why oh why couldn?t that man have taken the next tube Angry

Im so sorry about the long post but i needed to vent out some frustration!

RugbyWidow7 · 15/02/2011 11:05

You poor thing Anu3. I have had the same experience on the tube and also in the post office, where the man's breath behind me in the queue was so alcohol fuelled I kept edging forward and turning my face away but it was turning my stomach. It's amazing how much more sensitive we are to it now, but not much fun.

I really feel for you - that's awful! Do work know why you were in the loo for so long - do they know you're preggers?

Teladi · 15/02/2011 11:16

Oh Anu I'm sorry. It is terrible, isn't it? I also commute using public transport and I had to get off the bus when I was nowhere near my destination because someone on the bus had overpowering BO and I couldn't get away from it - tried moving seat twice. Then when I got off, I was massively sick into a drain at the side of the road... then had to stand for 20 minutes waiting for the next bus. It's awful. :(

I hope you feel better soon, it does knock you for the rest of the day doesn't it? Thinking of you.

Anu3 · 15/02/2011 11:25

Thanks for that message RugbyWidow7. I hear you! Absolutely agree that its not much fun at all! I hate travelling by tube now but dont have much of a choice :( Oh the joys of being preggers!

Luckily people at work do know Im pregnant or it would have been difficult to explain where i disappeared for 40 mins! Im 15 weeks 4 days today and broke the news at work a couple of weeks back.

MrsVidic · 15/02/2011 14:01

anu the alcohol smell is awful. I work with clients who have dependency problems and I can struggle, it's not as bad as when some of my clients who are long term
Homeless people develop trench foot which is awful. Still at least i'm expecting it. Chewing gum really helps and I'd carry a pot of vicks vapour rub to smell when you need to.

Is anyone suffering with back ache? I am in pain! Must stop carrying my dd about.

Yukana · 15/02/2011 20:46

MrsV I believe I'm suffering from chronic back pain, it's so bad sometimes I'm in tears with the pain, and the other day when I had a meal with family I got up - yelped in pain and was told the pain was on my face and to sit down immediately. So, you aren't alone and I hope yours is not as bad!

Have my midwife appointment tomorrow, nervous and excited at the same time. 15 weeks tomorrow, and if it wasn't for lovely DP and his lovely back/neck massages, I probably wouldn't have coped!

Carnival · 16/02/2011 00:28

Apologies to Cadmum, my thoughts are with you. Very stupid of me not to have read the posts prior to asking about how folks scans had been - very sorry.

Annie456 · 16/02/2011 07:53

Aaaargh!!!! Can anyone else not stop eating??? Apart from my 8 (EIGHT!!!) trips to the toilet last night I also had go get up twice to eat...I really don't want to put on too much weight (bump excluded) but I can't see how to avoid it??
I tried eating a big pasta dinner at 9pm to avoid needing to eat in the night but it made it worse.

Very tired and grumpy today (although have just hit 12 weeks and only have 2 days until scan.) right, what's for breakfast.....

LadyGoneGaga · 16/02/2011 08:34

I am similar, Annie. Try upping your protein a bit, usually keeps hunger away for longer.

RugbyWidow7 · 16/02/2011 09:23

OOh Annie you poor thing, you must be exhausted! My hunger is definitely much greater than pre pregnancy still, but it seems to have subsided a little over the last couple of weeks (currently 13+4) thank goodness! Still eating masses though, whilst trying not to put too much weight on - the two don't seem to go hand-in-hand though! Smile

RugbyWidow7 · 16/02/2011 09:53

BTW, I had horrible experience last night. I have been putting off telling one of my very best friends I'm preg as she had a mmc last year, which was very traumatic. I finally plucked up the courage last night (unfortunately over the phone as she lives a long way away) and it didn't go at all well. Her first response was, 'that happened quickly', clearly indicating they have been trying ever since the mc, unsuccessfully. She was clearly very upset as soon as I told her and then rushed me off the phone within a few seconds. I feel absolutely terrible about it and know I have upset her, adding to the emotional turmoil she's already going through. I just knew I had to tell her, but now can't stop thinking about ways I could have done it differently. Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience and can offer advice...thanks.

Gonnabe · 16/02/2011 10:18

RugbyWidow7 Not sure if this will help you but last year my friend and I fell pregnant within a week of each other (me first) and we work together. We were so excited to be preggers with our firsts together, talking about how we would waddle around the office together etc etc. And then I lost my baby. My friends pregnancy carried on and she had a beautiful baby girl and although in the very beginning I felt extremely sad and wished it could have been different (not that she had lost hers, but just that we had carried on together) I still wanted to hear all about her pregnancy. And it didnt affect our friendship at all. So give her time and hopefully all will be well. x

RugbyWidow7 · 16/02/2011 10:22

Thanks Gonnabe, it's good to hear it from your experience but I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through.

She has said she'll call next week, so I'll hang on and hope to hear from her soon. Thank you x

Teladi · 16/02/2011 11:11

Hello everyone, sorry for going here before lunchtime, but was it someone here who was talking about lactulose? Do you have to ask for it at the counter? I was in boots today and all I could find was Fybogel which said on the box it was OK for pregnancy - I didn't have time for going to the counter.

I havent been sick in a couple of days so I am hoping I may be able to combat my problems at the other end via diet but to begin with I may need a little bit of help

LifeOfKate · 16/02/2011 11:13

I think I would send her a card if I was in your situation, RugbyWidow, with something along the lines of you are sorry if you have hurt her, you are thinking of her and hope she contacts you when she feels able. Horrible situation :(
Like I said to littlemisslozza though, you really do have nothing to feel guilty for, you can't put your own family plans on hold just in case somebody might be hurt because nobody would ever have babies otherwise! All you can do is be there for her and be supportive.

KLou111 · 16/02/2011 11:14

That's sounds awful Rugby, so sorry the news didn't go down too well. I am sure over time she will be extremely happy for you. It perhaps just hit an open nerve to begin with.

Sorry about your loss Gonnabe. Myself and one of our best friends are pregnant together now, her being due 5 days after me. You don't know how many times I have thought about the what if something happens to one of us. I just don't know how I would cope either way.

Got my DreamGenii pillow finally, and used it for the first time last night. TBH I am not that impressed with it. The long bit down the front is great, but the bit that goes behind you that is supposed to help stop you rolling on your back is that soft, it doesn't help at all!! If the bit behind you was as hard as the long bit, it would fine. Think am going to have to put some stuffing in it to see if that helps. Will keep it, as will need a BF pillow anyway.

MrsChemist · 16/02/2011 11:16

I had to get lactulose from behind the counter at the pharmacy. I got a prescription from the GP or MW (I can't remember) so it was free.
You have my sympathy. Last time, I was going more than a week without pooing. It was awful but I've escaped it this time, thankfully.

MrsChemist · 16/02/2011 11:17

Might be best to get a script because the dosage might be different than what's on the bottle.

LifeOfKate · 16/02/2011 11:20

x-posts Teladi - I'm not sure if you can get lactulose over the counter, I've only managed to get it on prescription. Fybogel is ok for pregnancy, but i think it's supposed to be a longer term solution for constipation, so won't provide quick relief if that's what you're after. If you do need quick relief, go to your GP, I went to mine after having DS and came away with suppositories, lactulose AND fybogel, all free as prescriptions are free for us now, remember :o
I suffered chronic constipation in my teens and really have to keep on top of it now, so am sadly fairly experienced in the whole sorry business :(

Anu3 · 16/02/2011 11:20

Thanks Teladi and MrsV. Feeling better this morning thought all of yesterday was bad - Felt so tired and knacered all day! :(

MrsV Vicks Vapour Rub!! Its the best thing ever - why hadnt i heard of that before!!! - I used it on my commute this morning when i thought i was getting a bit sick and it worked brilliantly!!! Thank you soo much! Grin

LifeOfKate · 16/02/2011 11:24

KLou - I have a dreamgenii and I actually use it the wrong way round, I tuck the small squishy bit under the 'bump' and have the thick bit go down my back and through my legs from behind :) I found it a lot better that way as I found the thick bit was a bit too thick to fit comfortably under the bump and the squishy bit too squishy to support my back.
