Morning everyone......27+0 today for me, according to some websites thats the 3rd trimester Grin.
1 week until our next scan, cant wait to see the bean again...dont really get lots of kicks, just the odd one that reassures me that there is something inside.

My bump has grown loads the last 2 weeks, got to go and get some new work uniforms today. my old trousers are cutting me in two even though they are elasticated......tried new ones on friday and they are huge ( they dont do maternity so you just go bigger LOL)

Only working 2 days this week as have some holiday....whooppee

Morning everyone!

nurse I tried some birthing positions in the bath last night - squatting sideways will probably work. But the bath is too narrow for all fours. I still think lying on my side and throwing one leg out of the bath is best - I needed physio to release buttock in spasm afterwards, though. Our bathroom is tiny too. Last time mw had to sit on the loo and DH knealt on the floor. I was in the bath (obviously) and the second mw was in the sitting room writing everything down as it was called through. O we live in a bungalow, so everything is downstairs.

jasmine which cache were you doing? Have you done the one round Cholsey? My friend's dad wrote it and I ended up phoning him begging to be told where it was - what a cheat. Erm...walking for 5 hours was probably a bit silly. I'm no expert on SPD, but someone else will come up with some good suggestions soon

All I can tell you is that if I run, for example to get the flask of coffee that is under the pram when the rest of my family is on Thomas the Tank Engine, that really hurts my ligaments and it takes me about an hour to recover. I forgot this earlier and ran with DD1 into school. Note to self - don't try and polish shoes and make shortbread before school. Even if you get up really really early, there just isn't time.

My electric hand whisk broke the other day and I NEED a new one. I've got my eye on the Kenwood one in raspberry. I'll cave on the colour in the end because it will appear to DH that we are saving £20 rather than spending £50 when I get it in black.

My lovely, lovely mum is arriving soon. She lives in Spain, so a visit is a real treat. The house is a tip and rather than tutting she'll tidy. I LOVE HER!

CMH1stbaby · 07/03/2011 11:08

just catching up on everyone's news - I can't remember now all the things I was going to comment on, except the link to the picture of the woman who's having octuplets!! She biggggg!! Am thinking of printing it to show all those who keep saying I'm huge....

We got new mattress at the weekend and first sleep on it was last night - slept sooo much better and my back hurt a lot less. Am now wondering if it was the crappy mattress rather than the pregnancy that was causing it! Also picked up some cute bits in the sale at mothercare - worth a look I think, although lots were in the 'tiny baby' and 'early baby' sizes..

now need to motivate myself to get some study done - have wasted most of the morning already Wink

Happy Monday! xx

mrswantstobeamum · 07/03/2011 11:28

Morning ladies, sorry for going AWOL for a while. I was travelling for work last week, which as you can imagine is a bit exhausting these days. I have finally gotten a day off and some time to catch up on MN!

I'm at 25+3 today, and as it's my first, had a 25-week appointment with my GP on Friday. It was the first time I've seen him since my initial appointment when I found out I was PG, and I was pleasantly surprised that he was more thorough than my MW.

I have to say, I haven't been terribly impressed by my MW, as she is always running really late, is flustered and a bit scatter-brained during appointments, makes me take my wee back home to dispose of, and once took a 10-minute (IMO, non-emergency as it was about perineal massage Hmm) phone call from another patient during my appointment after I had waited about 45 minutes past the appointment time! I thought about complaining about the phone call issue, but didn't bother. Everything else is just slightly annoying, but not enough to complain about, and changing MWs would involve me having to go to the hospital for appointments rather than my local health centre which is just up the road. Is everyone else happy with their MWs?

LO is very active these days, and I love feeling all his sweet little movements. According to DH, I have now developed a waddle, which I'm sure he finds very attractive! Hmm

Settling in with a Brew to catch up on the last week's worth of chat.

CMH1stbaby · 07/03/2011 12:14

I'm also a bit peed off with midwives mum - I've had three midwife appointments so far (I'm now 25 wks) and have seen someone different each time. I'm told none of these people is my "actual" midwife and have all been covering for one reason or another. AND I too have always had to take my pee home! What's that about?! Surely it wouldn't be too much hassle to put a clinical waste bin in the clinic room?! This is my first time round and it would be nice to think that the person who will deliver our LO won't be a complete stranger... ok rant over...

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 12:25

CMH the midwives that you see at your GP tend to be different to the ones at the hospital so unless you are having a home birth im afraid the midwives will be strangers......also if you have a long labour there will be shift changes so you may have more than one.
There is only one midwife at my GP practice, she seems very nice but does get a lot of interuptions during appointments. I text her with questions and she usually responds within about 3 days ( she only works part time)

mother I inadvertantly did 2 geocache circuits - the one in Wallingford Castle Meadows (rubbish, dont do it, half 'caches' were missing and werent caches anyway, only codes to solve a puzzle). Then did one around home by the caff, great fun a real mix of easy and hard, big boxes and weeny ones. Will take your recommendation for the Cholsey one.
SPD bad during night but generally ok now...I'm just totally wiped out.

Hey, my latest bra arrived this morning - DH is VERY excited because this one is a 36G (originally 34C). Its also underwired and is such a relief to have the girls up by my chin and not resting on my bump. Mind you it is also quite snug so yet another size up shortly....no wonder I keep falling over. Anyone else still scared by their bazongas? I'm also planning to excite DH with purchase of new knickers this afternoon...only these will be disposable paper ones for my hosp bag..he he I'm not going to tell him that.

moomin I'm going up a size in my work trousers today too, but miffed that its not just the bump bit that is now too tight, the bum bit is as well - whoops.

What a gorgeous day - shame I've got no energy to go outside and make the most of it x

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 12:48

LOL jasmine my trousers were definitely shrinking around the thighs and the tops around the bust.Must have washed them on too high a wash!Blush

OP posts:
jasmine51 · 07/03/2011 12:56

moomin yes that must be it...the washing is at fault Grin

mother forgot to say, the tables are now outside on the decking at the cafe...must soon be time for a repeat visit with your darling brood especially your little piddler also maybe with Lisa and Jer?

takethatlady · 07/03/2011 13:03

mummy I think I found the dress - it's gorgeous :) You're going to look stunning!

jasmine I am also Envy of your 'bazongas' as you so beautifully put it Grin. Mine went from a 32B to a 34D by the time I was 5 weeks pregnant, and they've stayed there. And a D cup is nowhere near as big as I thought it would be. Am slightly amazed by the fact my nipples have entirely changed colour though. I feel like one of those 80s t-shirts you used to iron and they'd colour-change.

Update on situation with DH's job - thanks for the advice ladies. I can only say the problem really really isn't that we needed to talk. All we do is talk Grin and DH is very easy to be honest with, and very honest, so I'm very lucky that it never gets upsetting or anything. It's just a tricky call - 1hr each way by train to a new job which is in a much nicer school but will entail bringing hours and hours of planning home (and has more responsibility), or 1hr15 (at least) by car to an old job which is far easier to manage. It matters too because after Christmas I'm going back to work and I will need to work partly from home, meaning DH will need to share childcare 50/50 (which he wants to do anyway, of course, but there are only so many hours in the day we can share out between us for work).

He's still not decided, but we did talk it through loads ... whatever he decides, it's pretty crap for him, so I'm on board either way ....

takethatlady · 07/03/2011 13:05

Ha ha Grin - that last sentence was so badly written!

I don't mean I'm on board because I want it to be crap for him! I mean, he's in a catch 22, so I'm not going to try to push him to make one decision or the other!

Mean wife emoticon Grin

AlmightyCitrus · 07/03/2011 13:19

I've never seen the same midwife twice either. Confused

Apparently the one who did my booking in appointment is my "named" midwife. I've seen her a couple of times in passing, and I'm sure she only knows who I am because she has known DH since he was a child. If I was on my own I'd not get a second glance.
When it comes to the birth, it'll be a whole new lot of midwives, my local ones don't seem to actually go and deliver babies at the hospital. Confused

Anyway, one of my lovely neighbours gave me over 100 new born nappies yesterday, so that should keep me going for a while! Although, at the rate I seem to be acquiring baby things, there will be no room left for the baby when s/he arrives. Grin

LisasCat · 07/03/2011 13:33

Jasmine if you do that circuit, you might walk past my front door (it'll have a rusty spade leaning against the compost bin in the front garden, and DD's sledge leaning against the hedge!). And just because they put the seats outside at the Cafe, doesn't mean people should be stark raving bonkers and sit out there.....it's flippin' freezing. Massive error planting my first early spuds at the weekend.

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 14:14

You all sound very active.......i have just had to go to the bank and the library. Walked from the carpark like an old lady........bean is pressing on my bladder which makes me feel like i am going to wet myself but if i go to loo i do all of 2 mls, out of breath and definitely have a waddle.
Over the weekend had some lovely side effects of pg......even my DH was like Mmmmmm pregnancys not nice is it LOL

tinyk · 07/03/2011 14:20

Well, I'm in the middle of my first sick day in 3 years at the moment! Bloody nosebleed started again on the way to work. After 3 hours at the hospital near the office I was told there was nothing they could do and I just had to pinch it (it took 2 hours to stop this time).

BUT my real question for you all: blood pressure. I'm 130s/70s all the time. I've never been told this is high before, but today the doctor said I should be 110s Confused. just seems a bit weird to suddenly be told my blood pressure is high, although it might explain all this bleeding Hmm.

Anyone know (I'm also going to google, although sometimes that's bad for your mental health!!)?

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 14:31

130/70 isnt really high and nothing to be worried about. Normal blood pressure is around 120/70......but will depend on age and fitness. I would not be worried about 130/70 at all.

Jasmine really advice not buying those horrible disposable knickers. I bought them when pregnant with dd (because they were on the list! Grin) and found them to be the most horrible, uncomfortable things ever. With ds bought a packet of really big cheapies knickers in Penneys (primark over there?) and was much better. Will do same this time too.

tiny sorry to hear about horrible nose bleeds!! you poor thing Sad

Have the most rotten cold still Sad. Cough is keeping me awake at night and cant take fecking anything.

tinyk · 07/03/2011 15:06

Thanks moomin, that's what I thought and for once Google has proven me right. I'm early 30s and was very very active (before the last 5 months anyway!) so blood pressure really isn't a problem for me.

And anyway, the cat currently lying upside down on my lap to be stroked is having a beneficial effect Smile. www.vetinfo.com/cat-therapy-explained.html

jasmine51 · 07/03/2011 17:07

TTL please dont iron your nipples!

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 17:18

with my cats then tinyk i must be super healthy. Constantly having to remove one of them from my lap. I think the bean will recognise purring from the minute it is home....as it vibrates over my stomach at every opportunity :)

OP posts:
takethatlady · 07/03/2011 17:31

PMSl jasmine. I don't even iron my clothes, so don't worry about my nipples Grin

NurseSunshine · 07/03/2011 17:36

I'm on my third nosebleed of the day TinyK :( Wouldn't mind as much if I didn't only realise I was having one when blood starts dripping onto the table in front of me Blush

Why do you need to buy specials knickers? Is it because you bleed so much after that you will ruin them so you're best not to wear your little lacy numbers?

You can make a little nest for the baby among the nappies Almighty!

Has everyone who is planning on using nurseries already put their baby's names down? And how do you choose? Eeek SO much to think about! Don't want to be stuck without a nursery place for when I have to go back to uni but am just Confused about the whole thing

jbells · 07/03/2011 17:48

moomin156 · 07/03/2011 18:17

jbells 6 weeks left at work, poor you...... but how exciting that you are 30 weeks already. I was impressed at my 27 weeks and i only have 5-6 weeks left at work too.
I have to get up for a wee, its so annoying as i then struggle to get back to sleep. Its usually about 4am. I have had a lovely kip this afternoon though.......easy when you have no LO to look after :)
