Hello ladies ? bit nerve wracking moving over to ante natal but thought I?d be brave! Here?s to a trouble free 8 or so months for us all! And hoping lots more of us move over very soon.

Step away from your thermometers ladies. That way madness lies.

Sits back. Feels a bit lonely. Waits for others.

Fab news Terrys x
Getdown - if you know what you are looking for - not too early xxx

Iwish · 15/03/2011 21:24

getdown booking went ok thanks hun. I had my booking bloods done just over a week ago so they just asked about my history and did bp, weight and height etc. Happy the scan is booked anyway.
My friend got the line from about 23/24 weeks. Hope you are ok?

terrys that's fab news!! I bet you are so happy. How did it feel to see the little one?

mrsp I understand the feeling worse at night, that's what I seem to get too. Still get it during the day but not as bad. Hope it's barable for you.

MrsA glad you have some symptoms, even though you might feel a bit crappy.

nix so glad you are starting to feel more kicks now. Do you think you will cave and find out the sex? DP and I are going to find out.

Sickness seems to have come back the ladner few days but tonight is particualrly bad, just sat here sucking mints most of the sodding day!

Waves to everyone else xx

TerrysNo2 · 15/03/2011 22:23

Thanks all!! Iwish it was real and I felt validated that I really am PREGNANT!! Grin Also amazing that such a tiny thing could be picked up.

Sorry about sickness Iwish and MrsP but I reckon its worth it! Have you tried ginger nut biscuits? They are meant to help.

Really lovely to come on here and see lovely wishes, my AN thread seem to have ignored it and I feel a bit Sad about it.

spilttheteaagain · 15/03/2011 22:30

Fantabulous terrys! I can imagine the Grin on your face! Were you planning another scan before the dating one or did I imagine that?

LadyGoneGaga · 15/03/2011 22:41

Lovely news, Terrys - don't worry about the big antenatal threads. It's hard to really feel bonded with people early on - us lot went through a lot together talking mucus, cervixes and temps! I remember when I mc'ed hardly any of the MD folk seemed to care that much.

I think I was feeling a few movements really early, Getdown - is really hard to tell at first though whether is that or wind.

How are you feeling about your scan, Nix? I would hold out on the gender if I were you - it's you who has to feel shitty and carry the baby for 9 months. your choice I say Grin

Sounds like lots of ladies feeling a bit crappy - it gets better! Just doesn't feel like it at the time. Hang on in there. I found I could only stave off nausea by eating but guess that's why I've gained so much wait already!

Where are you going on hols, MrsP?

MrsP81 · 16/03/2011 07:31

That's why I love this thread terrys! My antenatal thread is enormous and its easy to get lost. However much I read about growing beans I'm still amazed at the speed they grow at - my scan was at a week later than yours and the bean was more than twice the size! Incredible.

I'm off to Cuba LadyG. We booked this holiday as a break from the stresses of TTC and trying to sell our house so of course as soon as we'd done that we sold our house and fell pregnant straight away!

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 08:39

Oooh lovely, MrsP - would love to go there. Don't worry about feeling rubbish - all the lovely weather and excitement and opportunities to rest will probably distract you from feeling crappy.

I'm going to Crete in 7 weeks all being well. Can't wait but am getting rather large already! We wanted one last holiday with us as a threesome and to spend some quality time with DS. So have treated us to the 5 star treatment as no way will be able to afford next year! Got to wait til that (7 weeks) then 6 weeks after hols and then on maternity - sqeeee!!!!

We have the estate agent coming round in a couple of hours to measure up and take pictures. Then will be in a race against time to sell, find somewhere and move pre-baby. Been cleaning frantically since I got in last night. Possibly a touch of nesting urge too.

Hope everyone else well today.

How long til your 20 week scan, Spilt - do you have a date?

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 16/03/2011 09:11

LadyGGG can you still fly at 28 weeks? I though that was the latest you could fly, so you'll be 29 weeks coming home? Or have things changed since I was last pg.

Terrys I said congrats on antenatal thread but I think in the early days, especially with first time mums (no offence meant - just first time mums are mostly unaware of the significance of things at the very early stages. I know I was) people are more interested in asking qns and getting themselves booked in the system. As some, myself included, don't have any experience of MC, they won't get how amazing your scan is.

We're now looking at holidays. We normally go in Sept but I'll be too far gone and July/Aug is out due to cost. I have no idea how anyone with school age kids affords anything more than a long weekend in Scarborough!
So, we want to have a great hol with DD. We were thinking about Crete too as we adore it, especially around Elounda, but DP has been offered a friend's villa with pool in Florida for £200 a week in June. Seriously tempted but not sure about a 2.8 year old on a 9 hr flight.............

(MrsP don't ya just love that law of sod!!)

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 10:24

You can fly up until 36 weeks I think, MrsA providing you have a Doctor's note to see you're not high risk etc. Have to sort out special travel insurance though. I timed it for then as is as early in May as we can really do and that seems to be when nice weather/season starts. Also shouldn't be too hot yet.

Florida sounds lovely - whereabouts? Will you do the Disney thing too? I did 6 hour flight with DS when he was just under 2 and was ok. just need to take loads of distractions. a night flight would be a good option I think?

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/03/2011 14:06

I know what you mean Terrys it can be easy to feel ignored on the big threads, I gave up on the MC thread for that same reason. Just have to remind yourself that no one intentionally ignores you it's just the threads move so fast. Smile I am so happy you saw the terry-bean!! It is so wonderful isn't it to see the heart beat and know that it's alive and well. Must be a big relief to you. Like MrsA says I think it's hard for people that haven't experienced MC to see the full significance of it.

Wow Cuba MrsP?!!! Lucky thing! We are going to the Isle of Wight. Not quite in the same league! I will be (hopefully) 7 months by then. I scared DH by saying if it came really early we could end up stranded on the Isle of Wight in Newport hospital!

I've only got two weeks left in my job before I take voluntary redundancy!! Can't believe it. Will be so strange not going to work anymore. Am seriously not going to have an excuse anymore for my pigsty house Grin!

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 14:41

They might helicopter you over to Southamption Getdown. You might find yourself on One Born every Minute....eek!!! Grin

How are you feeling about it all now? Looking forward to an extra long redundancy? I am counting down the days until maternity leave and still got ages {sad]

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/03/2011 14:46

Ooooh helicopter LadyGG Grin Grin Grin !! Does Newport not have a maternity unit then

I am feeling good in a way about the redundancy - morale in local government is totally at rock bottom at the moment. Just hoping I cope with being a SAHM though - without going completely crazy!

When do you go on maternity leave?

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 16/03/2011 17:00

Chatty bunch today! terrys I couldn't get into the August AN thread - like everyone says they're big and fast and you feel like a little fish in a big big pond. So I gave up and have decamped to this thread where I actually know you all and I like to think you care about me too Grin I think I just felt too fragile for a big bustling thread of excited people when this is a difficult pregnancy for me for obvious reasons.

All this talk of holidays too Envy. Nothing booked here, but we might go away in November or some such hopefully with little oik in tow. Only Devon or something though probably.

Lady yes I do have a date for my 20 week scan - 4th April. I think if we get through that one successfully then I might finally ditch the massive jumpers and let the wider family know. Mind you, I thought I might do that after the 16 week scan and then I lost my nerve. We shall see!

Sorry you are feeling so sicky MrsP, you have my sympathies.

Hello everyone else, hope you're all ok Smile

nickstermum · 16/03/2011 18:53

Hello ladies.... nowt booked here either :( but i have 10 days off at easter so maybe something then.. really want to go camping with little spud!

Feeling ok ish about scan LG cos i can feel a little movement each night, although it is dulled... just worry about anything being wrong! Knitting is going well and have a huge bag of wool for that and crocheting.. once my friend has lent me her book !! lady ooh crete i love the isles... very fond of cyprus too... hope you have a wonderful time my love x

spilt i backed off from the aug thread. I got a be peed off when one woman on there started an i hate pg thread and i just couldnt get on with it anymore. Dont have the patience sadly! How are you anyway... ok? coming up for 18 weeks? tis easy to get lost on bigger threads terrys I find myself sticking to the smaller clickier threads.... Grin

Hope you are all ok. Catch up prperly soon :)

nickstermum · 16/03/2011 18:53

whats with all the bold?!?!

spilttheteaagain · 16/03/2011 19:00

I'm ok thanks nix - greatly relieved that the little one has just given me a good wriggle. After some violent kicking on Monday morning I'd barely felt anything since and was getting a bit Confused but it must have just been hiding properly behind the placenta. 18 weeks on Sunday, yes. I am getting a bit more hopeful. Do you have a date for your 20 weeker yet?

On the terrible news front though - one of my March AN people gave birth to her baby girl on Sunday, stillborn at 41+6. Unimaginable and horrific. And bloody scary.

MrsP81 · 16/03/2011 19:02

Ooooooh, Florida sounds good MrsA! Especially at that price.

Wow getdown, only two weeks left at work. I'm jealous! And I love the Isle of Wight, been there a couple of times now. I know the feeling re pigsty house as well. Smile

Hello spilt. I've had a much less sicky day today which has been lovely.

Hope everyone else is ok.

MrsP81 · 16/03/2011 19:05

Oh my goodness spilt, that is dreadful news. I can't even begin to imagine how awful that must be. Sad

GetDownYouWillFall · 16/03/2011 19:15

Oh spilt that is truly awful Sad that poor poor lady. Sad You think by the end you are out of the woods. It is such a shocking thing to happen. I hope she did not have to go through a vaginal delivery as well, sometimes they make women do that with a stillborn because of risk of infection Sad

Got to keep positive ladies.

OP posts:
spilttheteaagain · 16/03/2011 19:25

I don't know GetDown she hasn't said yet, but I expect it was a vaginal delivery. I've talked to a lot of mums of stillborn babies since October and every single one delivered vaginally. It's considered a lot safer for the mum, physically and emotionally. I can certainly say from my own experience (which obviously was not a term delivery) that whilst it sounds a horrific thing to ask a woman to do, it was actually the best way. Any option is horrific by that point, but I felt (and I've heard others say this too) that giving birth to Bobbie was the last mummy thing I could do for her, and actually going through the labour helped me to process what was happening. I would have been even more traumatised to have been put under and had her removed surgically. I think I would have found it tremendously difficult to even believe she had gone, weird as that may sound.

nickstermum · 16/03/2011 19:27

spilt its truly hideous... one of the ladies on the Grads thread still birthed her daughter at 41 weeks a few months ago. :( there are just no words.. Its rare that happens, but just goes to show the risk of loss never quite leaves! Even when that baby is in your arms there is still a worry! Vaginal del is recommended GD its better for the mother to recover naturally rather thn a CS. I dont know how you could get through it though.

I heard some bad news 2 weeks ago, but didnt post on here spilt as you were going for your 16 weeker... a friend of mine MMC at 16w, she was due 1 wk after me...poor lady.

But... none of those things is going to happen to us ladies.... positive thinking and all that...!!!

Spilt - 20 weeker on monday...!! Kicks are still faint and little monkey still buries self down in the bottom of my pelvis. I have a large hard thing inside me now though, movement still sporadic and very dulled.... hoping it improves soon.

Keep everything crossed for the scan.... i know already it has a heart, bladder, kidneys, brain, stomach... FX for everything AOK! Not sure about sex yet... think i will hold out LG!

nickstermum · 16/03/2011 19:31

On a plus... my norks are quite literally covered in green veins... hot and heavy and resting on top of my pregnancy shape Grin

Not that you all wanted to know about my boobs of course!!!!

spilttheteaagain · 16/03/2011 19:38

It's louiseh on the Grads thread isn't it? I've chatted to her a bit on various threads. What's so shocking is that 1 in 200 babies are stillborn (24 weeks +), 17 every day in the UK, it is 40 times more common that cot death and yet no one talks about it and hardly any research is done. It is a national disgrace.

So sorry to hear about your friend too nix, it's heartbreaking.

Very best of luck for Monday, excellent news about your insides being kicked! My boobs are also covered in blue lines and ridiculously big (given I used to be a 34B)!

LadyGoneGaga · 16/03/2011 19:42

I love how big green veins are a plus, Nix Grin I know the woman you mean as well, she's a bit of a silly sod anyway. I pulled her up on going on and on about weight and her body (when she hadn't actually gained hardly anything). Think she has some issues.

Horrible to hear news of still births and mmc's. So scary. My mum had a still birth due to Rhesus incompatibility so while she does my head in fussing at the end I can understand why. So, so hard for those involved and so sad.

They probably do have a unit Getdown but for very early babies they often have to transfer you to a bigger regional hospital.

Not long to wait until your scan now, Spilt. And don't worry about sporadic movements. They're so tiny at first and they only have to swivel round so they're kicking the inside and you don't feel a thing. now mine a bit bigger am getting lots more movement now which is nice. Apart from yesterday when he/she was kicking hell out of my bladder which was very ouchy.

Glad you've had a better day, MrsP.

nickstermum · 16/03/2011 20:51

Ah im glad you said that LG, i felt i was being a bit MIAOW! Grin yes.... cant be arsed tbh. Theres a few on there going on about it..agree re the issues. exhausting really..and loads of others too! Actually when i read your first sentance about silly sod... having just read spilts post about Louise - i had to read it twice!!!

Yes spilt, Louise. Shes lovely. So so hoping she gets that BFP very very soon. I know.... terrifying and agree re the 17 per day. I would be so totally delighted to see her conceive a baby brother or sister.

Loving my big green veins, saddo that i am am finding it reassuring!
