Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:14

So long as no-one has a mucus issue, I'll be reet Wink Awww, I want the ginger haired lady to adopt me!

Hush now. LUCKY Bob.

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:15

PS Am only eating now because I somehow fell asleep on the sofa for nearly 2 hours - whilst TYF played some sort of ridiculous monster-slaying PS3 game Blush

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 21:16

Stripey t-shirt singing woman just made me cry talking to her upside down baybee, awwww

how's the foot now scorps?

Intrigued by ww cardigan muse has it so many arms is more suited to baby octopus? Or so complicated and wonky you can claim it cost £80 in allsaints?

Muser · 31/01/2011 21:22

I think it will be both wonky and holey and possibly weirdly sized. So yes, I shall pretend it is Hoxton designer.

I cried at singing lady talking to her baby too. And a bit in love with male midwife.

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 21:22

Ps very sad for Amelia (?) her partner sucks!

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 21:23

Yes, he seems very kind! Can we book him?

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:24

That's who I meant, Bitey :) She's lovely, isn't she?

She won't have comfortable lips for much longer, arf arf, fnarr.

Foot is okay, nothing broken, it just fucking hurt! Will have an impressive bruise tomorrow though...

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:26

Male midwife = a proper treasure. Amelia's partner = colossal knobsock Angry Bob's cardi = priceless Hoxton one-off.

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 21:29

Um singing lady now getting on my pip! Blush nuff dirty dancing singing now!

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 21:48

Feel bad now, poor woman is frightened! Sing away lovely!

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:50

Yeah, enough of your swanky music CV!

Awww, Amelia's got her baybee! And looked like there was v little blood AND she didn't pop it out whilst on her back, yay. I could lamp her idiot boyf on her behalf; fancy getting so pissed you can't be contacted or fit to come to help when your partner is ready to lay Angry

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:55

Ooops, now I feel bad too!

Mmmm, Sexy Mr MW can give me an internal any time, etc., etc. (look, one of us had to go there).

Oh, Drunk Dad looks a fine specimen Hmm

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 22:00

Think I am a bit mood swingy to watch this, now furious with Amelia's mother for taking baybee off boob to give to shitty boyfriend!

MustMountMoreFairies · 31/01/2011 22:02

Hello all and good night. Too nackered.

So how much do prams cost? I am so spectacularly ignorant on all the baby stuff!

Off to bed, smootches to all, and thanks for all the well wishing. Where's Barb?

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 22:06

Prams will require you to remortgage your house or sell the soul of your first-born.

I have just cried all over OBEM which was most unfortunate as Mr Boots had only flicked on to the channel by accident. He has now horrified himself with the sight of an Actual Baybee Actually Coming Out. Oh dear.

Medee · 31/01/2011 22:09

I give that relationship about 5 minutes.

I got quite emotional seeing Amelia's baby come out - it was smooth and all, but also looked very intense and very real that I am going to have to do that soon.

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 22:28

Me too, Med, me too (the relationship and the eep that I'll have to go through that).

TYF has just revealed that he hasn't yet informed his employers I'm pg and therefore not discussed paternity leave and that he's scared to ask for holiday leave to run concurrently in case it looks 'cheeky'. FFS. Angry He also presumed we would be spending a week down in Devon with the ILs at the end of July like always - I calmly made the point that if my parents lived 5-6 hours away I wouldn't travel all that way with a baby that's only a few months old* (I masterfully managed not to add 'to be ignored and offended whilst everyone wants to hold my baby but not offer me a jot of help or give me food, etc.' at the end of that sentence). 'But they won't see the baby if we don't go down', he said. I simply raised one eyebrow and gave him a Meaningful Look that said 'that's their problem'.

*I would, because my folks would be ace. And also because they wouldn't let/expect us go to them anyway, because they think people should do everything to make new parents' lives as easy as possible.

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 22:44

He has agreed to sort it out tomorrow. The work stuff, at least.

rocketleaf · 31/01/2011 22:45

He better get his arse in gear as he has to tell them 15 weeks before EDD which by my reckoning is next week or two? Think TB is getting another two weeks of annual leave after his pat leave never thought if it as cheeky. It's his entitlement after all and you would think people would expect it. Hope TYF can sort it out.

I am not even going to comment on the 'not see the babt' thing except Hmm

Medee · 31/01/2011 22:45

d'oh at TYF. He'll probably be OK telling them now anyway - MrM's boss has known for ages, but he's only just recently been doing the forms for HR.

My Ps and PILS know that to see the baby they will need to come to us, and stay in the nearby Premier Inn! I don't plan on making the journey (half of yours) anytime soon!

rocketleaf · 31/01/2011 22:45

Soz x post. That's good!

Medee · 31/01/2011 22:46

and to add, MrM is doing the two weeks SPP then a couple of weeks back (when I will get the GMs to visit) then 2 weeks holiday.

Muser · 31/01/2011 23:02

TBG has a new, new job so I'm not sure he will be doing leave on top of paternity leave. But hopefully he'll have a bit of a break in April between the two jobs.

OP posts:
Scorpette · 31/01/2011 23:23

That sounds hopeful, Muse.

TYF is v shy and gets into a flap about asking for holiday leave for a normal holiday. Also, as his Dad is actually the MD, he feels like he has to work harder and ask for less so he can't be accused of only getting the job through nepotism (is quite a skilled job and he was the right candidate). Mind you, FIL doesn't give him any special treatment whatsoever (dunno if this is good or bad - my soppy Dad would be paying us 50K a year to turn up twice a week and twat about on the internet at our leisure Grin).

He agrees that his folks will have to pull their finger out and come here. Seeing as his Dad is up here for work 3 days a week and MIL's sister lives round the corner from us, there's no excuse (nor has there been ever for not visiting, but hey ho). It's not like they can't afford a hotel, either, if it came to that.

He's going to ask for his SPP and 2 weeks leave. He admitted he's nervous about giving up most of his holiday leave as he likes having lots free 'just in case' (gives him a sense of not being tied to work, IYKWIM). But conversely, he wants to spend as much time as poss with me and The Lad.

Rocket, you are right about the weeks beforehand thang, which is why he has to tell them tomorrow, as I'll be 25 wks on Wednesday. Mind you, if I lay at 36 wks like my Mum, etc., it'll only be 11 wks. WAAAAAARGH! Shock

rocketleaf · 01/02/2011 07:50

Don't think that matters from his point of view. It's the EDD that counts. Another matter for you of course!!! :) How do you feel about it? Are you going to be on tender hooks from 36 weeks or are you fairly sanguine about the whole thing?

Was watching a really interesting program about pain and how we feel it last night. They were doing a study on preemie babies and full term babies comparing how the pain receptors in the brain react. It would seem preemies that need lots of proceedures after birth might have lower pain threasholds for life due to the pathways being stimulated earlier and more than 'normal' Was fascinating stuff.
Also they found a specific gene that deals with pain reception. A couple if people have mentioned to me that supposedly red heads have high pain thresholds, which I always thought was silly. But how you handle pain can be influenced by genes (my mum is extremely stoic so I am holding onto that thought!!!)

Soz bit early in the day for science! Have to get up soon for hike back up M6 straight to what is going to be an interminable meeting and I really can't be arsed!!! Have a good day dearest PESHies.
