G'ah, Bitey. Now I want a pineapple vindaloo Confused

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 12:29

Grin at ladygotmunchies I just had heinz cream of tomato and a cheese topped roll.

Medee · 31/01/2011 12:44

eurgh to pineapple vindaloo!

laurielou · 31/01/2011 13:23

Hello ladeez!

Mountie CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome to the continued madness.

Mr Loz & I had a fab time in London town. Unbeknown to me he upgraded our room to a suite, so we had a huge separate lounge with a balcony overlooking the river. We had a lovely meal, all paid for thanks to MIL. Felt sorry for wine waiter, who hurried over with menu, only for us to politely decline. Mr Loz felt the need to explain that he's tee-total & I'm diffed. So lovely wine waiter gave us a couple of non-alocholic cocktails, which were delish. And I managed to stay up until 11pm!!

We also chatted about what equipment & general baybee stuff we need, & Mr Loz said we should prolly start buying soon. By the end of the conversation we decided that a new L shaped sofa would be nice Grin

Happy due day Cho. I don't think you, Kate or Muse will be that long actually. I love laying / new diff news!

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 14:38

Sounds like a fab weekend loz! A lovely bit of luxury is just what the doctor ordered! I also think an L shaped sofa is vay important baybee equipment!

medee after posting can't think of anything worse than pineapple vindaloo! Maybe it is rumoured to be effective in encouraging a lay because it scares the baybee out? Will offer cho something much nicer, how about some Ben and Jerry's chocolate macadamia nut ice cream?

Orchid12 · 31/01/2011 14:39

Dashing in to say woohoo to mountme and BB. Most excellent news!!!!

LadyGG you are a naughty lady looking at pushchairs Grin.

Lozza glad you had a fantabulso time in London town. Mr L sounds like a gem.

Happy due date to those to who are heading the final stretch (no pun intitally intended but thinking about it, this makes a good pun, non?). Sorry if I have a warped sense of humour today, am manic at work (and tired) so may be in a different world to others!!

Scorps get your ass over to my neck of the woods pronto - will be fab to see you over there. Mr O does estate agency/lettings stuff - I should give you his details to see if he has anything you might be interested in.

Right, got to dash - got my last bit of teaching to do for today and then I can work from home tomorrow. Yey Smile

CluckyKate · 31/01/2011 15:14

Lozza & Lady - you have the right idea on purchasing of equipment. We went to John Lweis at the weekend and bought flat screen TV with built-in DVD for the bedroom, this being top of our baby-equipment list Grin

Off to Amazon for DVDs for LC now.

Medee · 31/01/2011 15:35

I'm feeling very pregnant today - guess it is just the return to work after a few days off.

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 15:37

I did look at pushchairs and nearly fainted from the horrific price. Are they made with gold plating or something?

A chicken dhansak would be nicer than a pineapple vindaloo and has the bonus of having pineapple in it sometimes. Happy due date Cho !

Lozza that does indeed sound like a tremendous weekend :)

Bitey are you no longer Pukey then? I want to eat things again without getting indigestion and belching.

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 15:38

Also, GG - bloody idiot hospital. Tis a good thing you protested.

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 15:57

Puke free owlie! Extremely hungry (even when actually eating) but no more of the exorcist! Am extremely prone to feeling maudlin and sorry for myself (see above) but felt like that while pukey last week so is great improvement really! Sorry about the indigestion, I haz developed the following technique because gaviscon tastes so bad:

  1. Find a Chinese soup spoon like thisand fill with Gaviscon.
  2. Pour glass of ice cold milk.
  3. Get spoon as close to back of throat as possible without triggering gag reflex.
  4. This is the tricky bit, deliver Gaviscon to throat bypassing tongue while grabbing the glass of milk.
  5. Down the milk.
  6. Belch like a sailor on shore leave in heineken factory

Works for me!

I had just had the vaguest conversation with the ante-natal clinic. I wanted to book my blood test, but they asked if anyone had spoken to me after my scan. I said no and they said I had better come in with my files and my scans Confused. I asked if there was an appointment to make and they said no, just not too late on a Friday! It's not anything about my particular care as they didn't take my name or owt. Can't help worrying I have just spoken to the tea lady!

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 16:07

I've just been eating rennies instead, they seem to be easier. They don't do owt, though.

Are you going to the same bloody idiot hospital as GG perchance? Or are they all this vague and confused? Mine did have great biscuits though.

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 16:20

I think we may be! What would have happened if I hadn't rung? And mine has no biscuits! Pah!

I think (and it is more than 50% likely that I am wrong about this) that Rennies are neutralisey* for the acid but gaviscon is neutralisey and results in the formation of a floating lid that prevents further onslaughts. So it is much nastier to take but really works for a long time.

And where do settlers tums come into this? I seem to recall that they are fruity?

*I believe on reflection that the technical term may be antacid not 'neutralisey'. What has happened to my brain????

LadyGoneGaga · 31/01/2011 16:22

You got biscuits, Booty. Why did I get no biscuits? Envy. I want a Biscuit

I know, they are horrendously priced, Owlie - but the pricier ones hold value better for when you sell it and get a lightweight buggy instead (why am I falling for this again?!)

Good technique Bitey

Glad you have a lovely weekend away, Lozza. We didn't go anywhere but MiniG was at his Dad's so we went to the cinema! Acsherly out! OMG.

Good shopping, Cluck. You'll be spending lots of time in bed - might as well make yourself comfy and well entertained. Bet the telly gets more use than the bedsprings for a fair few weeks!

Medee · 31/01/2011 16:40

Would putting the Gaviscon in the milk help?

owlbooty · 31/01/2011 16:43

I only got biscuits because I signed up for their pre-eclampsia trial and in return they had about 4 pints of my blood (okay this may be a slight exaggeration). Does mean I get an extra hospital check at 36 weeks though which is always nice although they will want more blood, probably.

I wonder if they are actually vampires?

I'm going to get a barfed on secondhand pram from eBay. I have spent all the cocking money on scans due to Owlet standing on head etc. Pesky Owlet. Will have to sleep in cardboard box etc.

Am looking forward to some PESHly laying in the next week - who's going to be first, eh? Someone has to make a space for BB :)

rocketleaf · 31/01/2011 16:48

Glad you had a lovely weekend lozzer mrL does indeed sound like star not least for his prioritising of baby equipage :)

I have just returned from my cousins with a Moses basket full of lovely clothes. I actually don't think I will need to buy any now (I probably still will!) and also the promise of an electric rocking hammock thingy, a bouncy chair thing and a little seat with table tray for early feeding which she will be finished with by the time I lay. I also had lots of lovely cuddles with the baby who is very cute, happy, smiley and placid. Yes please, i'll have one just like that thanks!

On the gav front, it's is so horrible I am almost glad it doesn't work so I don't have to take is 4 times a day. Gross! bitey your tactics are genius but won't the milk wash away the 'seal' effect? I actually quite like tums, they remind me of refreshers (and are about as effective against indigestion)

Ivegotmrbitey · 31/01/2011 16:49

I will try tonight medee. I think the problem with it is that the coating effect which is so nice when you have swallowed it is just so unpleasant in the mouth. The milk could mask that though. Will provoke innards with a super cheesy pizza first and let you know.

I am now leaving work ten minutes early as the thought of the pizza has overwhelmed with the desire to go home and stuff my face!

LadyGoneGaga · 31/01/2011 16:57

Yum, Gaviscon cocktails all round. We know how to parteee.

Muser · 31/01/2011 16:58

My foo aches. What is that about? I shall enjoy asking the midwife about that on Wednesday. It feels all heavy and achey. I have not been riding any horses, or anything else. Fnaar.

rocketleaf · 31/01/2011 16:59

Extra blood flow to vital parts muse? Wink

Scorpette · 31/01/2011 17:03

Stop fucking about with OTC stuff like Rennies and Gaviscon and get yersens some Omeprazole, like I did. Well, unless your heartburn is mild, then those lot will be okay. If it's severe, get the hard stuff from yer Docs :)

I used to never take anything, not even paraacetamol for a headache (unless super-bad) pre-pg and now am convert to drucks Grin

V GRRRR about GG's narrow miss re: monitoring condition. I know they're busy but a rudimentary glance at someone's notes can't be too hard can, it?

Also GRRR about vagueness of Bitey's scan-peeps. No-one should be vague about a preggo's baybee!

But Yay for Lozzer's fab time down in that there London Town. Mr Loz does indeed sound a gem. Defo agree that posh sofas and swanky tellies, like Kate's, are as vital as a cot or nipple cream. Have almost convinced TYF that I NEEEEEEEEEEEEED an iPad so I can enjoy internets, etc., whilst holding and feeding a baybee. As he's a massive tech-geek, this sounds entirely reasonable to him Wink

Thanks for the offer, lovely Orchid. Will chat to you later via FB about your DH maybe helping us out. Have been wibbling about moving there, because it might be a bit too quiet and TYF will have to cycle to work on some v busy roads Confused I think we should've moved earlier than this - I can't decide on anything at the mo. I feel like my brain is going to melt just choosing an outfit to wear (she says, like doesn't just throw on any old skanky, shapeless dress).

Happy Due Date, Chokehold! May the laying begin ASAP...

Muser · 31/01/2011 20:58

Anyone OBEMing with me tonight?

OP posts:
Scorpette · 31/01/2011 21:07

Yep, am here. Although am starving, so will be eating in 10 mins.

I have dropped a big bottle of Appletiser on my foot Sad I think the swollen-ness cushioned it a bit...

Muser · 31/01/2011 21:10

Ouch! Not sure OBEM goes with food...

I am knitting the world's worst cardigan at the moment. Poor Bob.
