Occers, I can give you no advice, sorry - I was blatantly pregnant by 10 wks with random strangers congratulating me in the street!

Well, the obstetric physio was no help re headaches Sad Said they only deal with specific pg stuff, ie lower backs n pelvises. Fair enough, so I asked if I could see the normal physio, who she said did deal with postural probs that can lead to headaches. No, I can't, because there are certain things they need to avoid doing/touching with preggos but they're not taught those because preggos with ishoos see special obstetric physios... who aren't trained to deal with most stuff! ARRRGH! I really had to restrain myself from saying 'Has nobody noticed a gaping discrepancy here?!'. Angry

Meh.

MC Hammer downstairs is mixing things up with a deafening power drill. And it's raining heavily, so don't really want to go out but am going to. FFS.

Ocarina · 26/01/2011 15:31

Grrr, to illogical stupidity there Scorps. Are there any other physios you could see? It seems insane that the obstetric specialists can't also do the general stuff - you'd think it would be a specialism after general training.

owlbooty · 26/01/2011 16:07

Grr indeed. Particularly as entire posture from scalp down can obviously be affected by preggosity, not just pelvis and lower back. How v.stupid.

Mr Boots went to the physio this morning about his knackered knee and I kid you not, the physio has quite literally stuck sellotape around his kneecap and told him this might help. Er...how, exactly?

I am starting to think physios may not be worth the effort. I would like to be proved wrong, though.

rocketleaf · 26/01/2011 16:13

The physio I had for my back was marvelous but that is complete and utter fuckwittery score I am so sorry it was a dead end, what utter bollocks. What's next course of action?

occie no advice except baggy tops. I think I could have disguised mine well past 16 weeks as after 12 I lost a bit of weight (bump replaced flab equally for a while) and the bloating eased off, but again everyone is different.

milanomum · 26/01/2011 16:54

Hurro.
Nuchal seems to be ok, well within range but higher than with no.1 so just have to wait and see what bloods say, but am feeling positive. Bairn would not get into position and, due to all the prodding going on, decided to huff a bit in the corner of my uterus just to piss the doctor off

Scorps what shiteness! There must be a reason for all these headaches (and a cure!), they just don't want to help you obviously. Wish there was a magic-it-away option...

I've managed to hide my bump up till now: smocks, tunics and baggy cardis have worked, but people have started looking at me funny in work (I presume because of the bump Hmm but it could be my lack of style) so it won't be long before someone asks.
boots sello-tape?! Do you need a degree to do that then?

Scorpette · 26/01/2011 17:05

Thanks gals! You would think it was pretty bloody obviously illogical that there's this big gap between what certain physios can do/offer, wouldn't you? Her only advice was that regular massages would help (ie the stuff a normal physio would do but can't/won't to a preggo) from peeps wot specialise in pg treatments but I can't really afford it. Could afford once a month - is @£50 round here for pg massages - so will have to settle for that. Ah well. I do realise the NHS can't provide every single potentially-required service; is just a shame, really. Maybe they could've stuck some sellotape round my noggin, a la Mr Boots? Grin (That is ridiculous, btw!)

I have one of those daft prongy head massager things which does actually help a bit - guess I'll be sticking with that or now!

Milanese, I like your mardy baby's style - stick it to The Man, bambino! Logically, the nuchal will get a bit higher as you age (although I know that's not always 100% the case), so I would also feel positive if I were you. I find all the testing results a bit baffling; mine were 1 in 350, which, with my age and nuchal results gives me a less than 1% chance of there being any issues yet I think LadyGG (sorry if I've got that wrong) got summat well impressive like 1 in 30000000000000000000000 (I may be slightly exaggerating), which ended up being about the same risk as me, so is all a bit 'huh?' IMO :)

BTW, re: dressing for Occie - would avoid anything with a firm waistband, as these can emphasise a tum (be it pg or chubs!). Empire-line or floaty dresses are your friend right now!

Ocarina · 26/01/2011 17:40

I've been avoiding all the empire line floaty type things that have been around the last few years because I was paranoid people would think I was pregnant, and now they all seem to have disappeared from the shops. Not that I've looked very hard or anything. And for some bits of work that's not an option, it needs to be a suit or similar. Hey ho, what will be will be, thanks for all the advice.

Hurrah for scan Milano, that's all sounding good. Here's hoping the bloods match up.

Scorpette · 26/01/2011 17:58

I meant a floaty dress with a cardi over, Ocarinaroony Grin Everything's already summer gear, innit? What about a suit jacket that buttons just under the bust? That would be smart and professional but still give you that Empire-line silhouette that hides all bulges.

owlbooty · 26/01/2011 18:33

Whoop, Milano ! Hope bloods come back looking peachy. I do like these bad-assed baybees who will not behave, fair warms the cockles.

LadyG did indeed get 1 in 3,000,000,000,000 etc but that is because she is secretly a teenager who has snuck in as a BESH under false pretences. Personally I will be happy with anything that means I don't require a needle poke in the stomach.

Scorps - you may well have been down this avenue but is there any chance the needles lady could do anything about your headaches?

LadyGoneGaga · 26/01/2011 18:40

I'm 32 I'll have you know. But the womble of a 15 year old .

Good call on needles lady, Owlie.

Scorpette · 26/01/2011 18:42

Yeah, but acupuncture did bugger all for the headaches, BootsyCollins Sad

Got the ranatidine today - Doc & consultant both told me you can't get headaches with it. What does the enclosed leaflet list first as a potential side-effect? Mmmmm, surely not HEADACHES! FFS!

I have eaten McCain Rustic oven chips and feel bloated in a guilt-free manner (2% fat and skins on!) Grin

rocketleaf · 26/01/2011 18:44

ah good news on the scan milanos hope the bloods back it all up. I stupidly didn't get the Nuchal in the end as was having a wobbly at the time at the time. And when you just have blood tests round here they don't both contacting you unless there is a problem. So I'll never find out what my stats where. For weeks after xmas I was having the fear that the letter had got lost in the post. Think its safe now.

I am bloody hungry and we have no food until delivery comes, due before 7 pm, grrh they are normally early. Sods law eh.

rocketleaf · 26/01/2011 18:46

for gods sake there were so many mistakes in that post i can't even begin to correct them all, some one shoot me in the head! (i blame weakness from hunger)

LadyGoneGaga · 26/01/2011 19:02

Congrats Milano on your good scan news! Happy days x

Muser · 26/01/2011 19:23

TBG is not going to the US next week. HOO FUCKING RAY!

OP posts:
Scorpette · 26/01/2011 19:31

I will not shoot you, I shall keeeees you on the leeeps instead, MWAH!

You know Ocado do that monthly delivery pass and it's usually £10.99 per month? Well, it's on offer for £3.99 a month for a year until Sunday, if anyone's interested. Me and TYF are going to go for it, as we predict many more deliveries required once The Lad makes his appearance :)

Scorpette · 26/01/2011 19:33

Refresh fail! TOP NEWS FER MUSE! Grin Grin Grin Bet you're both pleased - worra weight off your minds :)

Muser · 26/01/2011 19:41

Ooh, good tip on the Ocado Score. I have done the one off payment on account of it being about £8 cheaper!

I forgot to add the bit where I expect to receive the savings everyone makes in thanks for drawing your attention to it... Wink

milanomum · 26/01/2011 21:41

What a relief muse!
Occy I think any jacket's got to be undone or a size bigger wot wif the tits-and-bump explosion pregnancy brings! Scarves might help to cover up though - more <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.it/imgres?imgurl=beautyxpose.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/Urban-scarf.jpg&imgrefurl=gouldyloxreviews.blogspot.com/2009/09/budget-friendly-fall-fashion-scarves.html&usg=__EF2W5vyYlP9Mdy6l6C_efAhtd88=&h=431&w=291&sz=36&hl=it&start=104&zoom=1&tbnid=qvm5pJ_BOEO13M:&tbnh=136&tbnw=93&ei=95RATd7kL9D84Aai7JClAw&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dfashion%2Bscarves%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dit%26sa%3DX%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D608%26tbs%3Disch:10%2C2698&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=121&vpy=146&dur=2109&hovh=273&hovw=184&tx=108&ty=128&oei=05RATd2SB8yfOteKxaQD&esq=6&page=6&ndsp=20&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:104&biw=1280&bih=608" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this than <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.it/imgres?imgurl=2.bp.blogspot.com/_908dBVZpc_w/Sp0dT1FfzzI/AAAAAAAAC6o/SRsJdwwTNFU/s400/Missoni%2B2009%2Bknitwear.jpg&imgrefurl=www.style-eyes-fashion-blog.com/2009/09/extra-long-scarf.html&usg=__JMgREs3wG8fi7V5vl595x08NQrI=&h=400&w=267&sz=25&hl=it&start=24&zoom=1&tbnid=N9yH9WluBhneXM:&tbnh=140&tbnw=89&ei=epRATcn3B46S4gaNpN3EAg&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dlong%2Bscarf%26um%3D1%26hl%3Dit%26sa%3DN%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D608%26tbs%3Disch:11%2C663&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=741&vpy=53&dur=2259&hovh=275&hovw=183&tx=83&ty=160&oei=AZRATdygDsGbOpu2yJsD&esq=19&page=2&ndsp=26&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:24&biw=1280&bih=608" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this of course.

Scorpette · 26/01/2011 22:07

Heh heh, loving that 2nd look, Milano Grin

Does anyone else's baybee get particularly active whilst they're eating and/or just after? The Lad goes snooker loopy at mealtimes. Guess it means he gets fed too (or my tum filling up near him freaks him out!).

rocketleaf · 26/01/2011 22:44

great news muse that must be a weight off!

Waaaaay ahead of you score signed up last night, mainly because I have been so bloody crap at shopping/cooking recently and i won't have to order over £75 to get the cheap delivery/15% off. Have down loaded good food app for iphone and using the shopping list in conjunction with online shopping I hope to be able to inject a bit of interest back into our meals. Harissa chicken for tea tonight, yummy. Think you are right, its going to be great to be able to do the shop with out having to move of the sofa/unlatch baby from boob/get dressed.

rocketleaf · 26/01/2011 22:45

Oh and Sprout goes quiet during/after meals, food coma I think. Funny how they have personalities already :o (or am I just imagining that?)

owlbooty · 27/01/2011 11:52

Tremendous noos, Moos :) one less thing to stress over.

Self-indulgent scan update: I have been for nuchal scan thingy this morning and tis looking good (although bloods won't come back til tomorrow afternoon). Doctor says 1:6000 & would probably be higher but her machine stops at 20x the age-related risk. Nuchal measurement was actually slightly under the normal range at 1.2mm and the Owlet has a nose and everything looks normal.

But possibly more excitingly, the doc thinks it is a boy :) Will be v.interesting to see if she is right.

Also, she says because the placenta is at the front between the Owlet and my nerves, I probably won't feel it booting me until pretty late on - which is nice to know in advance to prevent stress!

scorps I wonder if it is the exciting sugar rush that sets them off?

LadyGoneGaga · 27/01/2011 12:02

Aw, lovely news Owlie. Owlet must have a pretty big one for her to see it already! Grin

My placenta was at front last time round so think did feel things a little bit later (is weirdly on the side this time Hmm, but I promise you still get plenty of kicks later on so don't worry on that front!

Anyone find pregnancy makes them a bit of a stroppy cow in the work place? I am so intolerant. Have spent all morning stomping around, snarling at people (deservedly but I am usually a little more soft understanding). Thank fuck I won't have an appraisal before maternity leave kicks off.
