LadyGoneGaga · 25/01/2011 13:34

I think both, Owlie. Just looking at report now. Nuchal measuremnt was 1.2mm, Free-hcg 115.0 IU/I; PAPP-A 3.833. No idea what that means! But she said it was all good and I had same risk as a 15 year old.

I think scan bit is prob most important but the bloods act as additional markers giving you a stronger predictive power to the results. Why do you ask, are you worried about yours?

Scary dream, Loz. Why do people get bizarro dreams in pregnancy? And filthily rude ones about inappropriate people?!

LadyGoneGaga · 25/01/2011 13:35

I'm coming round now, Muse. Hopefully you also have some very flattering lighting and vaseline smeared all over your mirror too?

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 13:48

I give off the same vibes, Muse - no fecker has so much as lifted their hand towards my bump. Except for my Gran, and she can rub it as much as she likes, of course. Lovely Gran :)

Another one here still waiting for that legendary 2nd tri energy Hmm Only a few weeks away from the 3rd now (eep!), so despite having every other possible pg symptom, my body has cruelly denied the best 2 - loadsa energy and what the h'experts call heightened desire (but I think of as Lozza Lust Wink).

All my weight gain has gone on my arse and thighs. It's quite remarkable. Also annoying because I've always had thin legs and have been able to show them off in a nice frock when the rest of me is pure hideous. Sad People keep telling me you go bottom-heavy when having a boy, but am a bit Hmm about Old Wives Tales.

Medee · 25/01/2011 13:50

Lou weird pregnancy dreams = totally normal. I had one where I gave birth to a premature but fully talking child, and I am sure there was a kitten dream somewhere from someone. Even my mother has been having weird dreams that are clearly about my pregnancy (though more probably caused by her coming off her HRT!)

My baby doesn?t get final relaxation either! It?s more active than during the previous 50 minutes.

I was really surprised by a couple of men feeling my bump when it was just a little belly (friend of MrM?s and another friend?s dad) but other than my mum and MIL, which I have no issue with, no-one else has tried.

Scales are rarely calibrated properly ? best thing, if you really need to know your weight, is just use the same set all the time and look at the trend, rather than getting too hung up on the actual number. I?ve not been weighed officially since my booking-in but know I lost 7lbs in my first trimester according to my mum?s scales, which I had put back on again by end of second trimester.

owlbooty · 25/01/2011 14:04

Muse your scales sound EXCELLENT.

Scorps aww, lovely Gran :)

GG I worry about everything; haven't you noticed? Grin Oh well, I shall know by Friday assuming the head-balancing Owlet is not still balancing on head. And is actually really in there. I just want to get past this bit and go to lovely antenatal pilates class. And crave tarmac with peanut butter on. And lose sight of my feet. And coo over prams. And all that shizzle. You know what I mean.

laurielou · 25/01/2011 14:33

Muse Pliz to tell where I can buy some scales like yours.

Re my dream - Jennifer Aniston! I know, what a horror Grin

So far no-one has tried to touch my belly - but I think I still just look fat instead of diffed. Trouble is Mr Loz was fascinated by friends last year (when we were desperately TTC). One friend said baybee was kicking, did anyone want a feel & Mr Loz moved faster than Usain (sp?) Bolt. But at least she invited "touchees". I think its come up as I'm seeing 2 friends tonight who I haven't seen since Christmas & my tummy has expanded somewhat since then, & I'm pretty sure they're going to come in for the feel. Thanksfully I've known them both forever, so I can just say "Urgh, gerrof".

LadyGoneGaga · 25/01/2011 14:34

I know exactly what you mean, OB. Have an un-PESHie hug. I am entertaining horrible thoughts that maybe the baby died shortly after the 12 week scan and that is why stupid doppler doesn't work. My rational brain is waving big sticks at the thought and wrapping garlic and rabbits feet around my neck to deter it.

In a few weeks our baybees will be booting the crap out of us and we won't worry so much. Good luck for Friday!

My lovely friend who is very BESH type and is pregnant through IVF (frozen sperm) because her fella lost both his testicles due to cancer (and post one mc) is about 3 days overdue now. Bet she never thought she'd get this far and she is now size of a house and about to meet her baybee. And you will too.

Muser · 25/01/2011 14:35

It's the carpet you want. Place your current scales on something thick and fluffy and watch them fail to cope.

OP posts:
owlbooty · 25/01/2011 14:44

Doppler is work of satan. Let me help you with the waving of big sticks.

That is so lovely about your friend, I had a little snivel at my desk about it. Hoorah for triumph over massive adversity!

Muser · 25/01/2011 14:49

That is a lovely story, how wonderful for your friend.

OP posts:
Scorpette · 25/01/2011 14:56

Awww, Gaga, that brought a happy tear to my eye about your pal :) Talk about yer BESHpiration! That will be one kid who will never once feel unwanted or unloved. What a triumph over adversity!

I am 24 wks tomorrow! It feels v exciting and relieving.

I have the most ridiculous and vivid dreams every night. Including the infamous sex dream about one of you lot Wink

You may fight amongst yourselves as to who wants it to not be them...

LadyGoneGaga · 25/01/2011 15:01

24 Scorps! How the merry fuck did that happen?! Surely twas only last Tuesday when I was congratulating you through the tears.

You are viable now! Stay in and cook a bit longer though little Scorpi-boy (that sounds wrong but the sentiment is right).

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 15:08

Heh, I know what you mean, Gaggle (you lovely thing, you). I talk to my bump and tell The Lad I can't wait to meet him... then quickly and paranoidly add 'but not for a good few months yet!' Grin

laurielou · 25/01/2011 15:19

LadyG That is a lovely, inspiring story about your friend. Please let us know how she gets on.

Why does the worry go on & on Smile - Why aren't I getting diffed?, Have I imagined it? (awaiting 12 week scan), have I carried too heavy a cake (awaiting 20 week scan) - I'm sure there will be more to come.

Scorps 24 weeks. Don't Family Scorps have their baybees at 36 weeks or sommat? Bloody hell woman! Are you in a different time zone or something? Do you feel as though its going quickly? On one level I can't believe I'm over half way through, on another level it seems a life time ago I was investigating pant snot, temperatures & general gusset watching.

LadyGoneGaga · 25/01/2011 15:34

Never stops, Loz. Just wait til they're out and you're waking them up to check they're still breathing. At the age of 2 and a half Blush

I will keep you posted on her progress. She is v pissed off right now!

Early birfs, Scorps? Even less time to wait!

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 15:49

LALALA, I can't hear you, Loz!

Yeah, Family Scorps are impatient layers/small-pelvised midgets wot lay at 36 weeks. Both sides of my family too. Fucking hell, that's 3 months away! Shock My nightmare, as I've said before, is going into labour on the Day of or after Royal Wedding: skeleton staff, distracted MWs, hungover MWs the day after, etc. Or just people boring anti-monarchist me shitless about it all Hmm

It does feel like it's going quickly and I can't believe I'm here already - really does seem like both yesterday and yonks ago when we were making jokes about drawing a 2nd line with red biro to hide our anguish.

Right, off to the Doc. Send me best 'sort these fackin' headaches good and proper, beyatch!' vibes...

Oh, and PS Me and TYF are currently loving :) Top parenting!

milanomum · 25/01/2011 15:53

Lovely story LGG! and Owlie I am exactly the same as you - have the NT tomorrow and am a bit wibbly. From what they told me at the hospital the bloods are also for other horrible things which I shan't mention and are used to basically cofirm the measurement results

Scorps 24 weeks, eh?! Huzzah!

The dreams are seriously odd here too. Lots of sex, old schoolmates and food (sounds a bit like St. Trinians porn).

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 17:21

Well, it went well with the Doc :) She can't give me any different drucks, which I knew, but she says she 'applauds' and supports my determination to cover all bases as to minimising headache/migraine triggers. She changed my reflux meds to ranatidine, which doesn't have headache as a side-effect, gave me the number for an obstetric physio, told me to take my saline nasal spray every 4 hours (am currently just using it when I feel I need it) and reassured me I can take the maximum dose of paracetamol daily, as they did blood tests and she said my liver results were superb, which she agrees is prolly cos I'm teetotal (at last! A benefit to being boring!).

She told me summat interesting about the amitriptyline, which the consultant hadn't, which is that is only works for migraines - if you take it for headaches, it will paradoxically often give you a worse headache. As I am having migraines 1/2 the week and 'just' headaches the other 1/2, this explains why it worked 2 days and then didn't. The frustrating thing is, of course, that it has to be taken before bed and I never know what sort of pain I'll be in the next day. Ironically, if I had migraines every single day, I'd be pain-free every day now through taking them Angry C'est typique!

Also, when I mentioned that The Lad had been kicking less, she asked had the consultant not told me it would sedate the baybee?! I said no she bloody hadn't! Shock I wouldn't have taken them if I'd known that, however much pain I'm in. Still, 4 tablets won't do him any harm.

I also have a bit of thrush Blush I asked her about me hurty foofoo (which I've not mentioned here before) and she did me a wee test, but I've got no nasties. Have never had thrush before, so is all new to me. I already only wear cotton pants, nowt tight and use unperfumed soap so hmmmm. Anyone got any natural cures? Shoving yoghurt up me tunnel of love?

So apart from me sore bits, am pleased with the outcome :)

Muser · 25/01/2011 17:23

Pessary for the thrush, I'm fairly sure you can take Canestan when preggos. And if you and TYF have been doing any, y'know, then he needs to treat himself as well.

Annoying about the drucks, you is just too complex to be treated. But time is marching on, you'll get there and then have a luffly baybee.

OP posts:
Scorpette · 25/01/2011 17:24

PS I don't have any weird or whiffy discharge, btw. She says you can have mild thrush without it. Hmmmph. Me no likey Sad

CurlyCasper · 25/01/2011 17:52

scorps just a quickie as a thrush expert (unfortunately). Tea tree oil and cider vinegar are other natural remedies. But you can use Canesten while diffed too.

I'm been having the weird dreams post-natally. My child has had so many fathers!

CluckyKate · 25/01/2011 18:06

You truly are a medical marvel Score - hope the new reflux meds stop the headache Smile

Saw the doc today too...BP is up (unusually high for me), baby's HR up (usually 130bpm, today was 165), bump smaller than 2 weeks ago Hmm and to top is all the bitch weighed me....have put on 3 stone Sad. Seeing the midwife next week so hoping this all turns out to be a blip or a sign that things are imminent.

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 18:09

Cheers for those top tips, but without being dense, how do I apply those, Casper (you dreamtime shlaaaaaaag!)? Shove a bit up on a clean finger? I have some organic cider vinegar

Scorpette · 25/01/2011 18:21

Ta, CluckingHell... I think Wink

Sounds like my medical weirdness is catching, you poor thing. Remember that over a stone of that weight will be baybee, placenta and other sundries - and that mini rolls are an approved* form of weight loss food in pregnancy.

I think your intuition is right about it being a blip or a sign of things moving faster. That could be the reason for the BP/HR rises too. Or you could've been worn out by the walk, who knows?

BTW, forgot to add - Dr was a bit patronising at first, talking about my 'ongoing' pre-pregancy migraine probs (like I was being fussy and whiny for someone who was used to them). I said I didn't have any and she said that the consultant had written in my notes that I told her I've had frequent severe headaches and migraines my entire adult life. I haven't had those probs and obvy didn't say I had. The Doc was much nicer and more supportive when I told her the facts. The consultant did keep asking me over and over again about my history of headaches and did seem quite frustrated that I had always had normal amounts/experiences of headaches (although I've always had 1 migraine a year, big deal) ie atypical for this severity of head pain in pg. Seems like she just wrote into my notes what would make more sense, not what the truth is Angry Twat.

*By us, at least

CurlyCasper · 25/01/2011 18:21

hoping for imminent kate!

score I used to apply on sea sponge tampons But failing that any other method of getting up there would help! Vinegar works because it's all about PH balance.
