mm, smoked salmon.

Muser · 21/01/2011 19:17

TBG hit Ikea today and bought lots of stuff. He is currently in the back room swearing to himself as he tries to assemble the chair bed.

The chest of drawers arrived yesterday and today the box of stuff to put it together turned up (caused some confusion that it wasn't all together). He has already built that. It is massive and really quite fab. By the end of the weekend we will have a functioning baby room.

Does everyone have lives or something? Pah. In that case I'm going to drink all the gin and eat all the cake myself. So ner.

ChoChoSan · 22/01/2011 11:53

Good morning honeyzz!

I am now in a fug of cocodamol so rib giving me much less Jip now, and also sciatica and spd type symptoms seem to have abated :) not sure if this is just due to drugs and the fact I am not moving about, but good all the same!

My baybee has been moving around like MAD the last few days, itnfeels like I've got a bag of spanners on spin cycle in my tumtum, so I am deeply pessimistic about my hoped for early or onetime birth...grrrr, head barely engaged...only 4/5, which is the same as Drom and Muse n'est pas, and you guys not due till weeks after me. I've even got the crib up in our bedroom now, so feel like I'm playing houseyhousey :)

The boyf is v good to me...on Thursday night he came in from work and made lunch for me to serve up to my friend so I didn't have to cancel his lunchtime visit yesterday, due to inability to cook or shop :)

ChoChoSan · 22/01/2011 12:11

My mw offered me a sweep on my edd if nothing looks like it's happening yet...does anyone know if this is advisable. I really don't want to be induced, but are there pros and cons to a sweep? Opinions gratefully received.

LadyGoneGaga · 22/01/2011 13:50

Don't worry about lack of engagement, Cho. MiniG never did and I still went into labour on time. I think sweeps only get things going if everything "ripe" and favourable anyway, and she'll only be able to do one if you're already a bit dilated so I think it probably can't hurt. I didn't have one though so not sure what it's like. I did get examined during labour and that made my contractions instantly go from bearable to intense at 6cm so maybe its similar.

rocketleaf · 22/01/2011 13:58

sorry cho being a diff newb I cant help there, except hope that lady is right and lack of solitaire diamond ring does not rule out an on time labour.

muse We were actually out (OMG!!!) last night. We have been assembling furniture this morning, new compact home office desk to go in the dining room, I am quite excited as it means I can get rid of at least one bit of furniture from Sprouts room. Only problem is we haven't considered where the printer is going to go Confused Ah well. Anyway putting the legs on a desk has bloody knackered me out! Nap time...

CluckyKate · 22/01/2011 14:06

Good news on the pain improvement Cho. Don't worry about the engagement.....is ver uncomfortable and they can bob in an out for ages so is no indication as to whether baybee is about to arrive. I was fully engaged for bloody weeks last time & still needed to be induced.

No engagement for me either but Osteo did say everything was soft around the pelvic area & almost ready to go & reflexy lady said quietness from baby in our session was prob the calm before the storm so am hopeful. Also, everything feels soft & squidgy up there which I think is a positive too.

Sweep or no sweep is prob one for the wise FESHes. I had two last time, was 2 cm dilated for the second one & lost my plug but 2 days later had closed up again, hence the induction, so they didn't work for me. Not sure I'd have one this time either as is also one small step on the path of intervention but will see how I feel when the time comes. Also, some people find it very painful.....felt a bit like a smear test to be so I didn't find it too bad.
Hope that helps Smile

Muser · 22/01/2011 14:32

Excellent news on pain improvement Cho, very pleased to hear it.

A night out rocket? That is unheard of. Actually we're going out tonight - I am quite excited. And we're doing no baby stuff tomorrow, tomorrow is a lazy day. Besides, we've kind of done everything we can. Hooray!

OP posts:
ChoChoSan · 22/01/2011 14:40

Thanks guys, that's reassuring...I'm getting a bit neurotic about laying late, but I should just chill the fuck out, isn't it? :)

Muse, I am extremely impressed with your nursery preparedness! I have ordered curtains online, but that's it...no paint, wallpaper, carpets etc, ah well, as everyone says...bay bee in with us for a while anyway...ha ha...to think there was talk of me making mobiles and the boyf painting murals!

Muser · 22/01/2011 14:50

It's just knowledge that if we didn't do it now, we would never get it done Cho. We just don't have a big enough flat to not be somewhat organised. If it was just a matter of painting the room it'd still be the way it was. But we had to do the big clear out, and we had to get the carpets done. No way was I doing that with a small child.

And once you've got an empty room it's a doddle to paint it. So everything else seems like a little task.

OP posts:
rocketleaf · 22/01/2011 16:44

You make it sound so easy muse!! I am getting really frustrated. I seem to have lost the ability to be ruthless that I started with and am just making more mess not less! And it also looks like we haven't quite thought thru the consolidation of the office into one space as we will now both want to use it at the same time and I am going to lose my big screen which I need to do any freelance. it feels a bit like trying to complete a jigsaw puzzle with about 5 extra pieces. Humph, at least there is plenty of time I suppose. (bleat bleat)

In differ relevant news sprout seems to have a vendetta against my bladder at the moment and the gav advanced doesn't seem to be making any difference so I am bit

Cho glad the rrrrrugs ate giving you some relief!

rocketleaf · 22/01/2011 19:02

Sorry for that slight spittage of the dummy there. Blush TB has found a solution and it's all looking a bit more manageable. (hormonal, moi?)

Btw muse when I say 'went out' I meant dinner at someones house other than ours. Not actual interaction with the genetal public or anything crazy like that Wink

rocketleaf · 23/01/2011 09:56

genetal public? Shock Like the sound of that even less than general public. I haz broken thread?

PrincessBoo · 23/01/2011 11:01

I don't think mixing with the genetal public is advisable when diffed Salade :o

Palais is quiet too.

Muser · 23/01/2011 11:18

Does the solution solve it rocket? I had the luxury of our only 'problem' with the spare room being the vast quantity of books. About 20 of which were mine. So it became TBG's problem. And after a lot of whining and protests he finally just went and did it.

We went out for dinner last night. It was very lovely. I had a champagne cocktail and everything. The general public were annoying though. I am such an anti-social cow these days.

Scorpette · 23/01/2011 11:34

Cheer up, at least it wasn't genital pubic...

Am here lurking on and off. The migraines came back Sad Yesterday was a write-off; TYF was having to help me walk to the toilet, hold a cup, etc. Pathetic. Bit better today. But if I'm quiet, you'll know why. My consolation is that as there's no point me taking the drucks (and they were the most hardcore thing I can be given), at least there's no tiny potential risk now to The Lad.

Am so glad that Cho's drucks are working. Hope the baby gets more and more engaged ASAP.
When people talk of a sweep, am I the only one who pictures Dick Van Dyke singing Chim-Chimenny to my cervix? No? Just me then... Blush

Muse, v impressed by your decorating fervour (and the results). Bob is going to love it!

Rocket, sorry the gaviscon ain't working Sad I found it a bit useless, myself - maybe summat a wee bit stronger could be in order ie Ranitidine. Am going to ask to be swapped to that myself, this week. Trying to think of every base to cover re migraines, wondering if swapping my reflux meds might make a difference. Sorry, turned that into being about me. Well done on your night out :)

rocketleaf · 23/01/2011 14:37

muse it's not completely solved, the printer is still a bit of a problem but its not insurmountable, and the set up is going to be fine for me to work at I think. Also seem to be finding space for things finally. I just need to keep chipping away at it. Plus on the upside I keep coming across things I had forgotten about, yesterday found loads of photos going back over the last 10 years so they were fun to rummage through. :o Gald you had a lovely night out apart from annoying hoi palloi.

score so sorry the migraine is back, that is utter shite :( I am going to see how I get on with the gav (but if anything it seems to be making things worse which is odd) Had a long chat with my sis this morning and she thinks my symptoms sound a lot like DN1s who has is lactose intolerant so I am going to try and cut that out for a few weeks and see if it helps. Its going to be quite hards as 95% of my meals involve dairy in some form and I bloody LOVE cheese. See how it goes. Apparently Waitrose do a good range of lactose free things so if that aint an excuse for some posh groceries I don't know what is! If that doesn't work then I'll try cutting out wheat and if THAT doesn't work might see if I can get stronger drugs. Would rather avoid that unless the pain gets a lot worse as at the mo it is more discomfort than excruciating iyswim.

boo lives? LIVES? what's that all about?

Muser · 23/01/2011 14:50

Top tip for when you all start getting to 35 weeks and the joys it brings. Germoloids. Provides relief that other brands just don't. Oh yes, I go through these things just to help all of you.

Medee · 23/01/2011 15:51

sorry to hear about the ailments. Scorps can you see your consultant again, might be a different dosage or something could be tried.

I've been quiet as we had the PILs visiting, headed off a few hours ago, and since then I have been on a shopping spree in Mothercare. PILs are very excited about becoming GPs which is lovely. My mum has also booked her train tickets for coming up for a couple of days pre-baby to help me cook for the freezer, etc.

Scorpette · 23/01/2011 19:22

Thanks for the thought, Medee, but am already on the highest dose possible in pg and it's the strongest thing they can give me out of everything available (albeit a limited list - basically that or paracetamol!). I actually feel better for not taking a dose last night - milder pain and they were making me v sluggish, weak, confused and cotton-mouthed. Have decided to try to tackle every possible avenue of possible headache source: ask GP to sort me out physio in case postural things are a source, look into my sinuses (they are rubbish, don't need a Doc to tell me that), am going to try yoga and meditation and even get some lightweight specs - current ones are retro-style ones and quite heavy. Lotta phoning medical peeps for me tomorrow!

Gawd, I wish I could get rid of the migraines even if it was just to give me something more bloody interesting to talk about! Blush

Lovely to hear your fab PILS are so excited and caring, Medee. Also love your Mum's thoughtfulness in cooking up a storm for you (nothing like a mother's cooking even when you're about to be a mum yourself!) :)

Rocket, if you need any pointers on a dairy-free diet, just contact me any time :) Lots of things you wouldn't think would or should have dairy in often have it added, even purportedly 'all-natural' stuff. I can tolerate goat's and sheep's stuff and like it too (you can even get goat's cream from Waitrose/Ocado: top tip). BTW, lactose-free milk taste like milk of magnesia if you drink it on it's own, but is fine in recipes or hot drinks, etc.

Thank you, Muser, for being our bum-grapes pioneer. I think you'd get on well with my Gran, who is not only a feisty redhead, but likes to regale people with tales of how having her rectum stretched to cure piles was the best thing she ever did... Hmm

Muser · 23/01/2011 20:25

Good on you for taking control Scorps, I hope you find something that works.

I have been having a nice lazy day. I am attempting to knit a cardigan for Bob, but I have a feeling it's going to be way too tiny. Still, it's kept me occupied.

Tomorrow I have the day off work and am having my hair done. And as it's pay day I may treat myself to a lovely lunch as well. I'm thinking afternoon tea at Libertys. They do amazing scones.

OP posts:
Scorpette · 23/01/2011 20:36

Ooooh, that sounds bloody amazing! Envy DEFO go for afternoon tea, showing your gorgeous hair off (then a window shop at fab stuff you can't afford, heheh).

All baby clothes look impossibly small, don't they? Have a lovely little 0-3 mths top that looks like it'd be too big for a teacup chihuahua but I bet it'll fit, just like Bob's cardi :)

I feel v firmly resolved now to find my own way out of the migraines or at least lessen them and HTFU. Onwards and bloody upwards!

We've spent all day lounging about reading the Sunday papers and watching DVDs. For a man who insists he hates thrillers, TYF was curiously gripped by the The Girl Who Played With Fire (we've already seen the 1st)... Hmm

Medee · 23/01/2011 21:12

Afternoon tea at Liberty sounds amazing!

I have the opposite thought, Scorps. Draping newborn clothes over my bump, I wonder how the hell that fits in, let alone gets out!

Scorpette · 23/01/2011 21:42

Well, I flit between the two thoughts, Medee! Confused
