Oops double post sorry Blush

CupcakesHay · 22/01/2011 11:48

Aaah - girls - look at the third post on this thread - and feel smug. you're all uber-mums! third post!

Pleased you've cracked potty training (fingers crossed) fuzzy and all good with me and DH again. I'm so fickle!

Sorry your DD is a bit poorly - and bump misbehaving fuzzy

Bubba - when's your next sweep?

Pootle78 · 22/01/2011 12:01

Morning ladies, just checking in, no movement here either.

travis I was awake 4 - 7 so have also only just got up, at least I managed to have breakfast at 5.15 so don't feel like I've missed a meal today!

cupcakes I'm glad you've had the apologetic phonecall, I think it's a general man thing, they just don't think! Was also being nosey wondered why your dh was going to take nearly a week to get to you!

Not much planned today, just get things in the loft, hoover and realised I haven't finished packing my bag (just the essential odds and sods to go) plus need to write my birth plan (get baby out as painlessly as possible with as little drugs?!)

Going to persuade dh to take me out for lunch

well I only ironed the moses basket cover (which was a bitch btw, don't ever wash your moses basket cover unless absolutely necessary!) and the sheets. So I'm only half an uber-mum.

Glad you've made up with your DH cupcakes and he was suitable contrite.

lol at travis's mum! That's the sort of thing my mum would do. I'm very much a ditherer when it comes to making decisions and I have to consider all the options before making a final decision, whereas my mum just takes action on the first thought she has without considering alternatives. Once, I had a conversation with her about things I might like to do in my garden which was just thinking out loud as far as I was concerned. My mum thought it was an action plan and turned up a few weeks later with some equipment to help me to put said garden plan into action. erm...yeh..thanks for the help mum but I hadn't decided yet what to do Hmm

Anyway, my point was meant to be that maybe your mum thinks that's a helpful solution to a problem that might have been discussed in front of her. Grin If not, can she have my baby on Fridays instead because childcare is going to cost me a fortune!

Fuzzywood · 22/01/2011 12:06

Liking the birth plan Pootle
Glad you've spoken to DH Cupcakes, men honestly!
Liking that thread Cupcakes, in my defence about the word we're not allowed to mention and baby clothes it was my mum who did mine.
Really must get up now Grin

Pootle78 · 22/01/2011 12:15

gallic my mum is doing my Moses basket covers, she knows if she sent them this way it wouldn't happen!

Love the sooty convention comment cupcakes :o next sweep on Monday! I have developed a theory though, that I have the start of contractions, then get a sweep and everything stops Hmm

travis your mum sounds funny, although don't burn any bridges yet! she may well come in useful!

have been entertaining the mini-troops this morning but have just made play-dough for them so they're busy smearing that into the floor and eating any leftovers playing nicely, so have a moment to myself

Good link cupcakes but really, you've brought the whole I* business back up!! >>Shakes head in dismay

AmIGoingMad · 22/01/2011 12:48

pootle I too am loving your birth plan!
cupcakes glad that everything's sorted with DH now Smile
bubba fingers crossed that you'll have had baby bubba before monday anyway!
travis Very frustrating of your mum. It's hard cos you'll want to do things on your terms but at the same time you probably don't want to say no to her now in case you do need her- difficult situation! I'm sure it's one most of us will be going through soon too!
running hope that your walk get things moving along as hoped Smile
fuzzy glad that the potty training's going well!
gallic loving your plan for the rest of the day!
rock I'm definitely have less movements now and they still seemed happy witht he trace they took at monitoring yesterday so maybe it is just something that happens at this point? That said though it'd be nice to have a few more movements today for reassurance- haven't noticed any so far but woke later than usual so maybe they've happened without me realising.
Has anyone had anymore thoughts on my question about bottom of bump changing shape?

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 13:05

Sorry mad but I didn't really understand your bottom of bump shape changing thing. Wasn't ignoring it but didn't get it?

gallicgirl · 22/01/2011 13:35

Surely it's just the baby changing position? maybe the head is engaged?

RockLover · 22/01/2011 13:47

Well Ami I read in my pregnancy bible that the baby movements tend to become less noticeable at this stage and the Mum cannot feel all the movements baby makes.

So as long as I am feeling my 10 a day (had well over that whilst still in bed this morning), I am not going to panic and be all paranoid.

Was feeling really well this morning and almost bounced out of bed (albeit not before 10 Grin) and then had a lovely pink bath as DD chose the bath bomb that looked like a pink cake. But since I have got out I feel all sicky and yuck, so have had to take one of my Cyclizine tabs. Pants! Hopefully I'll feel all bouncy again in a bit.

Cupcakes if you haven't seen my email yet, we got George this morning and love him to pieces. He's in the cot and looks thoroughly gorgeous, your Mum is a genius! :)

CupcakesHay · 22/01/2011 14:03

Aaah rock haven't looked in my inbox - but mum'll be dead happy - she said you might need to twizzle his tail a bit - but she's dead pleased you love him! Poor you being crappy again!

I've just had a fry-up. Naughty but YUM.

pootle thought you'd finished your bag? but love your birth plan. Mine says DRUGS Please on it... Grin

Love the kids eating the playdough!

amI - sorry you got my best guess on the bump last night...

And WOW gallic at the moses basket cover.

Ok - mums already - and well - any of you. I need to buy non-bio washing powder with me to take home, and it's on special at sainsburys - so plannign to get DH and MIL to go and bulk buy. Anyhow - how much do i need for about a year??? Confused - There's 50 washes a box.... and bearing in mind i'm planning to do reuseable nappies, so i think if i plan to wash every day... what do we think? I figure that's one wash a day, so I need about 8 boxes???

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 14:27

You'll be lucky with one wash a day only if I'm honest. I frequently put two or three loads a day (although having said that, some days we have none, but we're currently out of nappies). If you've got the room to store it all, go for 10 (but bare in mind that your LO might be allergic to some of the makes!)

Crystylline · 22/01/2011 14:40

pootle think your birth plan is a good shorthand for mine too!

i'm knackered! went out for an hour or so, saw some friends, ate lunch and now totally pooped.

Wriggly, squiggly baby still going mad and still got weirdy BH/tensing/clenching... whatever they are going on.

It's annoying, because I don't think they can be contractions as they don't massively hurt, or take my breath away. OTOH, perhaps I have a high pain threshold and they just don't hurt as much as I thought they might.

Had an ok night's sleep at least.

no idea what to do with childcare, but i'd bite someone's arm off for a free day's care for my LO.

As it is, i'll be back in work by summer and have to pay miserable fortunes for nursery/childminder.

but shall take heart from cupcakes post and go hide under a pile of clean, ironed baby clothes (my mum ironed them!!)

Smile
CupcakesHay · 22/01/2011 15:38

Yes, i think i'm extremely lucky on the childcare front, at least becuase I know i can have pretty much 18 months satying at home - and even when I do need to do my teaching thing next year, I can ask my parents to help out. Very lucky girl here. Smile

Of course, when we finish in Syria, we'll probably be coming back to Uk and then struggling with money, etc and doing the whole working and pretty much anything i earn will go on childcare (unless I can train my cats to look after the baby!)

As much as I am hopefully you have a high pain threshold crysty - i think it's just a bit of prep for the real thing from your body. Sorry you are pooped - put your feet up and watch a movie.

See - i figured 2 washes a day, but when it got a bit older, like 6 months, surely it'll end up being 1 wash a day - and then i knid of figured it would even itself out a bit - plus i can always wash mine and DH's stuff in bio - it's just the non-bio that's difficult to get hold of.

I'm bored today.... it doesn't help knowing that DH is in country and out with friends.... i hate being bored. I'm that kind of bored where TV or reading doesn't help.... ho hum!

RockLover · 22/01/2011 16:48

Baby is being remarkably quiet this afternoon, I have felt only tiny movements. I read my book again and it definitely said that babies don't move as much in the last weeks of pregnancy.

Still keep worrying even though I said I wouldn't. It would be a nightmare if I had to go to the hospital to be monitored, DP would need to come as I don't know how to get there myself, which means DD would also have to come and be bored for hours.

When do you need to start worrying? According to what I've read it's normal to have reduced movement, but how do you know? He has a good wriggle when I eat something (and when I had a bath), but in between he has been fairly quiet.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 17:02

Have you eaten chocolate or drunk cold orange juice or something to wake it up? If it wiggles after that it should be fine, but go if you're worried. They'll only monitor you for 45 mins max if all is fine...

There were four or five women being monitored during my time at the DAU yesterday all with your worry, all went away after half an hour happy with the wriggles.

gallicgirl · 22/01/2011 17:03

When I went for monitoring, I think I was monitored for about an hour.

Have a sugary drink then sit quietly for an hour and count movements. If you have 10 it's probably ok. I had no choice but to slump back a bit on the hospital bed and I think that made baby move more too. I realised that often I maybe don't feel the movements because I'm busy.

At least if you have a number, you can call midwife and say is this normal. Mine seemed more concerned that it had been a change in movement patterns.

Well I've just had an hour in bed and I think I feel worse than I did before. I just keep thinking I should make the most of any opportunity to sleep. I just dread going into labour in the night and being really tired because I've not slept and then ending up having to go to hospital.

RockLover · 22/01/2011 17:25

I have just had about 3 strong kicks in the last 5 minutes. I have already had more than 10 movements today (before I got up lol) but there seems to be a bigger gap between activity cycles now.

He's moving quite a bit now, very squirmy movements and is catching my hip and ribs. I'm feeling a bit less worried now, but I really want this baby out so I don't have to be pregnant anymore...it's too stressful lol.

I have the emergency mw number, but I mentioned to her last week that the movements were alot slower and gentler than previously and she didn't seem worried. His movement pattern has changed, but not suddenly, more gradually over the last 3 weeks. Anyway, he is moving like a pro now, yay!

Gallic I dread going into labour at night as well, not just because of being tired (makes me feel sicky when I haven't slept much), but also because things are always more disorientating and scary in the middle of the night.

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 17:31

Also the middle of the night is hard with little ones to sort out!

Glad babyrock is wiggling away. COME OUT BABYROCK SO YOUR MUMMY CAN STOP WORRYING This one's movements are way less than a few weeks ago, although will resond to Giant Buttons (doctor's orders you understand).

Hole in the Wall for the Bubba Family now. Trying to instill some tv family tradition in my girls!! :)

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 17:31

respond not resond Blush

gallicgirl · 22/01/2011 17:35

You'll be fine rock. Even if you do start labour in the night, there's always some saddo sympathetic person awake on MN to distract you! Grin

Ooo DP will be home from work soon. I'd better go wash up so it looks like I've done something constructive today. He won't count ordering fleecy welly socks from Hunter as constructive.

I might have a shower after so if I time it right, he'll be all distracted and not notice any evidence of inactivity Wink

Hopefully baby will arrive sometime this weekend.

travispickles · 22/01/2011 17:43

WHERE IS BABYTRAVIS?? She is just not interested in moving out, and am concerned that this is to do with her being back to back?? Have been doing some reading and apparently they can be reluctant if not positioned right. Don't know if that is a big ol load of nonsense but honestly! I was getting pains a few days ago and now nada. I was looking at spinningbabies website and it said one of the signs of posterior baby is feeling little hand movements down in the pelvis, which I do. So a hard, long, painful endurance test of labour for me then probably

saltnvinigarcrips · 22/01/2011 17:53

Hi all, well edd is today but nada like everyone else. Still, there's always tonight or tomorrow. . .
Have had a relaxing day although my sister is starting to stress me out. She phoned yesterday demanding to know where I was and was I in labour. Would I tell her straight away? no!! Then she left a message on my phone saying "I guess you haven't answered because you are in labour...." like that is the only possible reason I would not answer my phone.

Anyway cupcakes i finsihed 'The White Queen' and have been into town today to purchase 'The Red Queen'. Spent most of the day in bed reading which has been really lovely actually and DH seeing to food and cups of tea. Then went for Japanese for lunch and had ramen - yummy :)

rock i'm sure lo is fine and just less room to wriggle. Still, it doesn't stop you being paranoid and worrying as if I don't feel anything for an hour or two I start to panic. But i find if i press my hand against my bump firmly I can feel something squiggle around inside.

Wonder who will be next to go into labour. Hopefully me Grin

NoLadyButManyBubbasAndBumps · 22/01/2011 18:03

Bog off back into the queue salt - I'm next and woe betide anyone who queuejumps!! Hmm Angry Hmm

:o

My sis is the same and phones every day and says "have you had a baby and just forgotten to tell me?"
