A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

wow nemo have you got an itchy finger?? iv got the kettle on for a cup of hot choc right now s/h!! i might even treat myself to a choc bar from the fridge!(theyr for emergencies only!!) dp stole one last night as he didnt know they were in there and i conveniently 'forgot' to tell him!!

kangel · 05/10/2005 10:08

Oooohh Ei, what an excellent excuse to eat loads of chocolate! I've read somewhere that if you smell chocolate it can help reduce cold symptoms but who wants to sniff eat when you can eat it.

The other dreams I've been having are about bumble bees - weird!!

Bigeyes - I've got so much work to do (I can't even see my desk) and no-one else will do it so I just keep plodding on - I know I shouldn't care less about work! Will get through today and see how I feel tomorrow morning - if I'm not on here then you know I'm tucked up in bed cozy and warm (oooh what a thought).

I too am getting really worried about being a Mum (1st time for me too).

bigeyes · 05/10/2005 10:08

Thanks guys.

What a great little gem to know re calpol my friend, mum of 3, seems to go thru loads, i'm going to pass this on.

The best satisfying choc treat is Nigellas brownies recipe (and normaly with a baileys on the side!) But failing that a double decker 4me (thats wot i get on the way home and a slush from the corner shop)

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:08

bigeyes · 05/10/2005 10:13

Og Kangel stop stop!! you.ve made me think about all the paperwork I need to get in order for when i start mat leave - a new young teacher is taking over my department while I'm off which I'm normally very precious about. I feel half switched off already to be honest. I'll only have to kick start myself nxt wk to get it all done!

Chooooooccccs away.... get wot you can and have a lush bubble bath when you get in.

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:13

ill rent him if hes good at doing washing nemo!! im avreaging on one load a week recently as it takes me 10 mins to get up off the floor after putting the washing in the machine!!

dramaqueen72 · 05/10/2005 10:14

are you all saying everything twice cause I'm blonde?? LOL!
dh off today, apparently we are off to shops to potter about......then midwife after lunch. ridiculous how nervous i get before seeing her!!!? -how silly of me!!
good 'deep' chat with dh last night, where i managed to say stuff without getting het up. I really hope he listened 'cause I dont get to do that very often! both said somethings which were constructive rather than mean -iyswim!
and i've just about talked him into home water birth now
s/h glad you can get that horrible stuff free.... if it helps you and its free , well- fabulous!!! i think we should get chocolate on perscription myself..............

kangel · 05/10/2005 10:17

Same here Bigeyes - I have someone totally new taking over from me, I have to teach them an in house system inside and out and all the work before I leave and tie up all the loose ends (which are a lot)........and I simple can't be bothered with it all!! Shes been here for 3 months and still refuses to pick up the phone and answer it!! - I have my work cut out with her!

scully · 05/10/2005 10:18

Don't worry Kangel I'm the same, been v busy the last couple of days and can't remember everything I've read, when I've been trying to catch up!
Have also had some strange dreams, not often though thank goodness. They did keep me awake for a few hours on Monday morning though, not a good way to start the week, tired and grumpy, although work probably didn't notice any difference
Was reading the comments about having gaviscon straight from the bottle, didn't make my breakfast sit well - just the thought makes me gag......very happy I haven't had heartburn as yet if that's the solution
dd being very sweet with the baby, wanting to kiss it all the time and talking about being a big sister. It's very sweet and she seems so excited about the idea. Just wonder how we will manage with 2 children and having to share our time, feel a bit sad about that sometimes that she won't be the centre of attention anymore. & I feel guilty that I haven't heaps of time this pregnancy to spend with her, before the baby arrives, with everything else going on.

bigeyes · 05/10/2005 10:20

ei23 no the real families I referred to was not the one on DH&L but on ITV lastnite - their skin condition is very rare and grows too much, they have to scrub it off twice a day and put lots of cream on - puts my bit excema into perspective.

Yes that man does seem a bit rough.

nemo - we plan to have our second child soon after this one if possible did you plan your second/ would you recommend?

Nemo666 · 05/10/2005 10:21

oo ei he is fab at picking things off the floor and putting washing in..hes just a horror this week..lol

Nemo666 · 05/10/2005 10:24

bigeyes this baby was planned, we actually lost one in between this one and adam who would have been here in june..also planned. Although having a toddler and being pregnant is hard work. Worse than when I was working full time.

dramaqueen72 · 05/10/2005 10:25

scully I worry about that with dd2 hate to think of her not being the 'centre of attention' quite in the same way, but it will be okay. has been with others, everyone just finds their place and everyone is different.it just works, and you DO love them all.
I think the biggest shock IS from one to two children. (sorry ladies!) two to three isnt so badand hopefully three to four will be a breeze!
kangel, tell that lady to answer the phone!!! it used to be a job of mine to look after several lines and now it drives me CRACKERS to hear a phone ringing unanswered!!!

kangel · 05/10/2005 10:25

Chocolate on perscription - GREAT IDEA!!!!!
I work above a Somerfields which is closing down at the end of the month and have got some bargains on chocolate so will stock up when I go out for lunch!!

Hi Scully - I sometimes wonder how my dp's dd will feel when this one comes along - at the moment she is really excited and can't wait but we have her for a week everyother week and am wondering how she will feel having to share her dad that week when baby arrives and the novalty wears off. I'm sure they will cope as long they are included in everything and not pushed aside.

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:25

ewwww i cant bear gaviscon!! dp bought me some the othe rday when i was haunted with h/b and aswell as it not helping much it tasted absolutely DISGUSTING!!! he got the minty one tho is the other one nicer??
DQ i wish you could get chocolate on prescription- wouldnt that be great!!

sweetheart · 05/10/2005 10:28

scully, I had loads of worries about having another child. I worried that I wouldn't have enough love for two - or that if I loved this one as much as I love dd I would burst - all really silly things.

I've spoken to lots of mums with 2+ children and they have all assured me that it is possible to love 2 children equally.

And, although you feel like your neglecting your dd right now and are worrying about that, from her perspective this is probably a really exciting time and I doubt she will have given you a second though - after all, shes got a baby to think about

We'll all be here in 6 months time wondering what on earth we were worried about - at least that's what I keep telling myself.

sweetheart · 05/10/2005 10:30

as disgusting as gaviscon is - you actually get used to the taste. And the fact that it gets rid of the heartburn makes it a tiny bit more appealing!

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:31

oh right B/E, i didnt watch it as the adverts made me well up a little bit and i was in dp's mums when it was on i think! i wouldnt want to sit and sob in front of them as theyd prob take the p*@s out of me for being hormonal!
nemo- send him down in a taxi!! is £5 an hour ok hehe

Nemo666 · 05/10/2005 10:33

oo ei thats well more than I was expecting..lol its a deal!!!!!!!!!!

bigscaryeyes · 05/10/2005 10:34

Kangel - ive found it difficult to get my head around this as Ive spent three years building up my dept and have healthy numbers/results etc and want to make sure its at least maintained. But at the same time I feel nonplussed as when I had 2months off earlier (lost twin plus 2 scares with remainder) my older students complained and missed out so Ive spent ages trying to make up for lost time - they are unforgiving I also start to think how am I going to commute for up to two hours a day get Lewis to a nursery and keep up. Bother bother!

Keeping my teacher hat on I'd set that new person of yours some daily targets and start to let them be an independent learner!

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:34

it may have been the price of it that was making me gag aswell SH!! good job you can get it on prescription as having to pay for it aswell as having to drink it is like a kick up the arse IMO!! maybe someone should write to them to suggest a better flavour!! choccie perhaps!!

ei23mummy · 05/10/2005 10:38

how do i change my nickname to something more halloweeny?? i want to join in the festivities!! then again i could masquerade as on of them bandaged up mummys!! thats a bit boring tho....
