A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

I thought that yesterday s/h, its very sad I miss some of those ladies hope we didnt scare them off... I often wonder about starry, and um...whatshername who was backpacking, and oh god loads of others. I wont be having my baby before you -thanks!- but I can remember lots from all 3 children here so heaven, if i can be any help with 'newborn' stuff just give me a yell/email/carrier pigeon/CAT
i am concerned about you at the meet up being so close to your due date compared to us, now any waters breaking there WILL make for a mumsnet first
i think thats why dh is going to be in basingstoke that day, hes terrified of my 'quick' labours and hates me out of reach after about 35wks. bless........() that and the fact I've got so ditzy he doesnt trust me to come off at basingstoke and not keep driving til lord knows where..............

george32 · 04/10/2005 16:19

DQ, I think that was.....Backpacker!
It would be nice to know that they all made it through and are poddling their way through the 3rd trimester still.

dramaqueen72 · 04/10/2005 16:21

giggle yes thanks george I just realised that!! duh me!
MUST get off my third trimester bottom and go make fish pie for tea and muffins for pudding. just cant get motivated AT ALL.

sweetheart · 04/10/2005 16:22

george - I am having a constant worry about what to do with the baby once it gets here. Dd was such a good baby, she slept through the night at 8 weeks (god knows how we managed that) she walked at 9 months, potty trained herself etc etc etc. Now I'm panicing as I can't remember how we got her to do these things!!!

Yes, the meet up will be rather close to my due date won't it about 2 weeks! Luckily I won't be too far from home and if the worst does happen at least I know where the hospital is in B'stoke - even though it's not the hospital I'm going to. Besides you never know - it might mean we get a free meal

george32 · 04/10/2005 16:27

I think you are right about Starry SH. Hope she is OK. It just shows what a trying time pregnancy is for relationships with so many of us having problems.

Your DD sounds like an angel.

dramaqueen72 · 04/10/2005 16:29

just LOVE it when you think i'm domestic goddess george makes my day. am quite into cooking, but not houseworkAT ALL!! make children load dishwasher I'm that mean...
fish pie is alarmingly simple, will email you them later on.
s/h yes that was starry, miss having another 'fourth baby on way' person.

dramaqueen72 · 04/10/2005 16:31

hey tc, nice to see you

sweetheart · 04/10/2005 16:31

DQ - I think your ss prezzie to all of us should have been a book of your best recepies. Especially for us working ladies who hope to achieve domestic godess status once on maternity leave

Nemo666 · 04/10/2005 16:37

oo george you would like adam then he is perfect dishwasher/mashing machine and drier loader and unloader...dont knownhow that happened..lol

george32 · 04/10/2005 16:43

Great idea SH.

What, does Adam do it without moaning Nemo? And at such a young age? How did you manage that?
DPs 2 boys aren't bad at it, just tend to find things in random cupboards once it's done.

george32 · 04/10/2005 16:44

LOL @ your mashing machine Nemo.
Mashed potato a favourite?

Nemo666 · 04/10/2005 16:51

George Adam actually sometimes shames me into cleaning as he will go into kitchen and start to take washing out of drier etc.He also brings the hoover in as a major hint..pmsl.

Funnily enough was thinking about peeling the potatos for the mash for tea...sigh

sweetheart · 04/10/2005 16:51

My dd quite likes dusting and hoovering but just ask her to put her toys away - wow! You'd think she'd been asked to clear 3rd world debt or something

OP posts:
Nemo666 · 04/10/2005 16:54

lol SH
think Adam only helps because he is young and naive..lol Although to tidy toys I pretend we are having a race then he does it all..

bonkerz · 04/10/2005 17:39

HI ALL,

Have kept up ith you all today but not posted cos have been in bad mood AGAIN!!
Finally got a new tumble dryer being delivered for Thursday so may get some of this washing done finally! HAve packing to do as go away on saturday and not sure if my back can stand all that ironing!
Its my anniversary today and no present as yet or card form DH. God help him if he has forgotten!
Alex kicking away nicely but still low down so will see what midwfe says on thursday! Have had terrible back ache today and also unbelievable pain in left hip/thigh/bum! Couldnt walk this morning and feels like its increasing in pain again now! Christmas cant come soon enough!!!

george32 · 04/10/2005 18:01

Hey Bonkerz, Thursday sounds like a busy day for you then! Sounds like they are sending it just in time.

My little one is still hanging around on my bladder. It seems to have no intentions of drifting up at all and feels so uncomfortable by the evening. I wonder if it is just how we are shaped?

Hope you get at least a card from your DH

OwlMother · 04/10/2005 18:04

Hi, am new to all this. Have been trapped in house all day with ds with sickness bug. Dd is about to climb the walls. Am due Dec 30th and it can't come a minute too soon!! Anybody else got the carpel tunnel thing - basically can't use left hand so picking up children etc is just one huge joke!!

george32 · 04/10/2005 18:10

Hi Owlmother, welcome to the Dec thread
Sounds like you have had a shocker of a day today. No idea about the carpel tunnel thing, is that another one to add to our list of gripes & groans?

Blurgh!!! Why did no-one tell me that the liquid gaviscon is like taking spoonfuls of toothpasty saliva. Urgh, urgh, urgh.

OwlMother · 04/10/2005 18:15

my gp reckons the best way to deal with gaviscon is to swig straight from the bottle- ignore the dose(you can't really overdose!! And for once he's right!!
Carpel tunnel - something to do with nerves in the wrist!?!? Tennis players and pregnant people get it. They can't make it better it'll go away post baby so all they offer is to splint it. Then you can't drive (AAGH!!) or pick up kids or anything- actually maybe not such a bad thing!

sweetheart · 04/10/2005 18:40

owl - welcome to our very friendly thread

I agree on the gaviscon thing - I'm currently going through 2 large bottles a week - it's costing me about £13 a week

I swig it straight from the bottle too and have bottles stashed everywhere for emergency's. I should buy shares in the company and try and make some money back!
