Due in Dec 05 - thread 10. The one where we all become friends!

A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

Hi Ladies,

I haven't posted for about 3-4 weeks as I have made the 200 mile move down south and have been settling in etc
I have met my new midwife but stupidly because the hospitals don't share notes I have had to go through the booking in process again at 31+ weeks this seems stupid but ho hum I'm just the mother.
DH and I have found the hospital which is literally 5 mins away on a straight dual carriage way thank god, and have set about decorating and sorting the new house out.
I hope evryone is OK and looking forward to the best Xmas season ever, the next plan for me is to have all the Xmas shopping and wrapping done by mid November at the latest but considering I can't walk for 10 mins without my huge swollen feet aching, my back feeling like its going to snap and sweat pouring off me I'm not really looking forward to it.
Sorry for the long post dying to catch up with you all and developments I should know about.

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 19:28

flutterbee · 18/10/2005 19:43

Couldn't agree more ei, my list of people to buy for is huge but I have more important things to worry about than old aunt mildreds chocolate orange.

I have just had a flick over allllllllll the posts I have missed and if anyone can give me some quick info on this meet that is going on in November I would appreciate it, I have gone over the link but got a bit confused half way through, if anyone could list the basics ie when where how I will have a look at waddling up there to join you all.

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 20:22

me an dp are jus workin out our xmas budjet so we know what were workin with!! where about did you move to again flutter?? the meet up is (i think..) on the 11th nov in basingstoke sweetheart is bookin the restraunt so that is not confirmed as yet and it shud be happenin around 12:30 or so lunchtime! have i forgotten any other info?? I(pg brain attack!!!)

dramaqueen72 · 18/10/2005 20:26

bloody hell guys -talk alot why dont you?!!!!

who asked about my scan? oh god why cant i take notes when reading thread?????/anyhow its because a 'soft marker' was rasied on the last one. basically a 'one thing could be wrong' sign which 99.9 times needs other things to be raised with it to be of real concern, -did that make sense??- as nothing else was measuring wrong etc they told me not to worry too much. which is a HOPELESS thing to say to a pg lady!!! tomorrow is meant to be my all clear. so all fingers crossed for me please. have been counting days til it got here and now its here, i'm getting nervous and chewing nails etc.
hi flutter, glad move went well btw, where are you again now? its near-ish me isnt it? or am i getting confused -easily done!!
ei -will try and remember to do babynet game for you, do go and do mine, its passworded as babygrimes4 btw. my son was right last time, he was the closest guess -only out by half an hour!! spooky!
expat am sorry to hear how sick youve been, not nice at all. do tell your midwives, even tho you dont rate them highly, about stopping the tablets, as it could be on your ntoes and make for any errors in any operations etc etc...... are you still up for a homebirth? they are abit funny about iron levels re homebirths around here, so as my next bloods get taken tomorrow I'm chewing my nails over that too!! I dont want anything to stop me and my homebirth now!!! floradix is good but my gp showed me how low the levels are in it compared to iron tablets....last time i was pg she switched my iron tablets to something less sickening, worth asking if you need to boost your so much.

christmas shopping? i'm getting there!! done alot and planned the rest. its great doing it now. infact i am wrapping gifts later to stash away, just incase I go into labour and someone else needs to hand them out! so neeeeeeeeeeed to feel abit in control and organised this dec!
isnt it coming up fast????????
bonkerz youre technically due same date as me then. except with a c-section suppose you'll be before that!
kangel plleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease can i have a truffle??? am craving them now!!

flutterbee · 18/10/2005 20:33

fingers crossed for you drama

I am now living in Polegate right near Eastbourne on the south east coast, done a quick check on Basingstoke and it would take 2.5 hours to get there and cost the best part of £30 I will have to think about this one.

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 20:51

hey DQ it was little ole me that asked about your scan, my fingers toes and legs are crossed for you for tomorrow am sure all will be ok but youre right when you say dont tell a pg lady not to worry....!
Hi flutter not sure we have technically met but am guessing if youre around a bit now yu will no doubt see me as i have heaps of time on my hands, thanks to the delights od SPD and being signed off of work!
EI its so strange when other ladies talk about their due date and when you find out its near yours its like a reality check in that i am not the only one going to be going through the pain on my own ( i know that really but it becomes real when someone tells you) lol did i make sense, i seem to be asking that a lot really... hormones that what i blame it on!
ARGHHH chrissiemas pressies....hmmmm i think i might do it on line, i am with flutter when she speaks of the back ache swollen feet and sweating, i get all three sitting at my PC imagine what i would look like if i went out and about..
Still have heartburn from this afternoon, not quiite as bad but lingering on the brink of burning up

kangel · 19/10/2005 08:57

Hi DQ - Huge amounts of luck for your scan today - I'm sure you wont need it, like me they have probably made you worry for 12 weeks for nothing. Good Luck though and let us know how you get on!!!

Morning all...

SO girls......I now have the bloody dreaded lice after going to the docs yesterday for a routine a/n he checked for me and said oh no you have nothing there just an irritation that couldn't possibly be caused by lice!! Bought more combs yesterday for my peace of mind and whilst sitting down to an evening of Holby City just at the 'i'm 3 weeks late' bit I combe out a live one!!! OMG I screemed the house down and was hysterical - DP came running and thought I'd gone into labour or something. He spent hours combing them out of my hair and I pour'd neat t-tree oil all over my head - Don't care if it irritates me I want them out!! See I have a huge phobia about spiders and to me these are like spiders.......Its the legs iyswim!!
Anyway sat crying in the bath whilst DP tried to sort me out but am still itching today - he done my hair again this morning but nothing but the little buggers hide so will do it again tonight!!
Am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO SDD's mother should have these not me!! And at a time where I am banned from using anything to kill them! I am tempted to just use something anyway - I can't stand it or the thought of them in my hair UUUUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH.

Have another A/N class today too which i'm not looking forward to after last week and then off to MOT my car - all in all a great day ahead of me but at least I get to leave work at 1.

Oh and forgot to say some man tried to con me out of my car but on Monday but I caught on and told him where to go. Am feeling quite picked on this week - you know when the world is against you!

God all I ever do is come on here and moan.

How is everyone else today?
Bonkers, your scan sounded wonderful!!

Nemo666 · 19/10/2005 09:05

kangel..poor you, i got lice when younger and hated it and it is now a fear..lol I brush mine and adams hair with conditioner at least twice a week. Luckily dh doenst have any hair..lol

I am feeling really rubbish today so mya be parcelling adam off to george...lol Seriously though feel and sound like darth vader on a bad day. At the min adam is happy to sit n watch tv but will have to see how the day goes..lol DH is out at work until 8.30 tonight so fingers crossed adam is ok with chilling..lol

sweetheart · 19/10/2005 09:20

Morning all - blimey it's taken me AGES to catch up so here goes....

Bonkerz, I'm so glad you had a positive scan and you can send your mum off with a piccie of the baby. Sounds like you have a tiny baby in there compaired to me

Flutterbe - lovely to see you again. Would be great to have you at the meet up. The restaurant is very close to the motorway and train station so very accessible. Let me know if you want any more details.

DQ - GOOD LUCK TODAY HUN!!!! Everything will be fine

Kangel - Conditioner!!!! You can use it to comb the lice out (apparently it's the most effective thing) and it shouldn't cause you any reactions!

My xmas shopping is half done but I'm not worried too much as my baby isn't due too near to xmas.

If I had my baby at 38 weeks that would make it 20th November - Not that I'd be lucky enough to have this baby early, it will be clining on to my womb till the bitter end I suspect!

Oh and Can we have a new thread PLEASE!!!!?????

Jaysfirst · 19/10/2005 09:21

morning kangal morning nemo, morning all! well kangal, seems like your world is just upside down at the moment, but (and i know is easier said than done) try not to worry too much, if its this bad now just think it cant ge any worse, the only way to go now that you are so far down is up!! My Grandma always says to me ' nothing stays the same for very long, believe and you shall be surprised!' who knows what she means really but its food for thought. Good luck with MOT its as nerve racking as taking an exam, fingers crossed that it will pass and yur luck will be on the up! Nemo i know that Darth Vader voice, it was on loan to me a few weeks back....! try and keep wrapped up and stay positive, lots of fluids ( fresh root ginger and lemon with hot water and maybe a wee bit of honey ) and lots of warmth, hope you're feeling better soon!
Well i have a pretty non exsistant day today, have thankfully got over my serious bout of heartburn from yesterday ( i ate 20 odd rennies) so have to go out and get more supplies, might try gaviscon although it has never worked for me in the past, someone tald me a spoonful of baking powder with a glass of water ... any thoughts? So will venture out to the shops a bit later. I am waiting for my nappies to be delivered. Have gone for One life system. The reusable ones. Bought the travel pack from ebay for less that half the price ( i so swear by that sie!!) and dh bought the system set for a bargin on line... i hope they come this morning or else i wil be sitting here all day waiting! ok enuff for now or else i might bore you all before the days even started!!

kangel · 19/10/2005 09:42

Sh I put conditioner in my hair last night and DP used the comb on me, he pulled out about 6 live ones!!!! UUURRRRGGGG the thought. We will do the same again tonight with conditioner and hope that there are no more.

Jaysfirst - your grandma sounds like a very wise person, my problems are nothing compared to what some people on here are going through so I really shouldn't moan - but you know when things just get to you!

And I missed the rest of Holby City......shes pg isn't she and its Mr Beachams?????!!!! Tell Tell??

sweetheart · 19/10/2005 10:00

No she's not pregnant - it's abnormal cells (they didn't really go into details much)

But Owen had to do some sort of proceedure on her - and she said she wasn't supposed to be a mother!

Cevical cancer?!?!?!?!?!?!

OP posts:
Jaysfirst · 19/10/2005 10:03

Seems like i am missing out on the good stuff, do i need to start watching casualty???

sweetheart · 19/10/2005 10:04

not Casualty - Holby City!!

OP posts:
kangel · 19/10/2005 10:06

Oh poop!! I wanted her to be pg.....what a scandal that would have been! Ooohhh Connie's face would have been a picture!. Thanks SH!!

sweetheart · 19/10/2005 10:08

I think her and Owen should get together and Diana should marry the other surgeon - whats his name??? (Jess's dad) Oh rick

OP posts:
kangel · 19/10/2005 10:09

Holby City is much better than casualty - I think its Holby City/Casualty week next week, 7pm every night. I could well have got that wrong though, will check out the website.

kangel · 19/10/2005 10:11

I agree SH, Diane doesn't seem right for Owen.....too fuddy duddy!!

What is Ricks problem? Have I missed something? I know that Jess lost the bubs but he seems so angry hes got a chip shop on his shoulders not just a chip!

sweetheart · 19/10/2005 10:12

no there is a combined thing on - dunno about every night???

DD loves Holby City - especially the baby bits. We snuggle on the sofa together and watch it

OP posts:
sweetheart · 19/10/2005 10:14

No you haven't missed anything - last night's was a bit wierd actually - things weren't explained very well. I think Rick was just upset about the baby and being alone.

OP posts:
kangel · 19/10/2005 10:22

Arrgh thats sweet SH, My Nephew loves casualty but isn't aload to watch Holby City as its too late on a school night, but we sit and watch casualty together. SDD is now starting to get into it and trys to delay bedtime when both programmes are on. She knows exactly what day and time they are on too, we don't let her watch them though because she gets upset and then has nightmares.

I must get on with some work now.........boring!! Will check in again later.

xxx

Jaysfirst · 19/10/2005 10:34

Nemo666 · 19/10/2005 12:17

afternoon all

I have discovered the best toy ever..lol A birth ball. I found it before when putting clothes away and decided to pump it up and Adam has just been entertaining himself with it all day. Means I have been able to sit on the couch with a blanket and a magazine..lol. Living room has a load of toys everywhere but I dont care at the minute.
