Due in Dec 05 - thread 10. The one where we all become friends!

A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

NEMO you are a star, the flowers are amazing and mean so much! Thank you.

not alot happening here. Have been with MIL all day and she has spoilt DS which i think he needed TBH. Juust spent 2 hours on phone trying to diffuse an argument between family members. It really upsets me that we cant all just do things together but as usual i am the mediator.

Have my scan tomorrow and will be asking about c/section etc. Just hope my BP is ok really although wouldnt be surprised if its through the roof.!.

I am seriously hoping i can still make the meet up. Im going to be in Basingstoke for the next 2 weeks as it is and realistically it would be a good excuse to go put flowers on my mums grave and see my sis etc before christmas and before i get too huge to drive! So yes from me for now!!

I am so thankful that i have finished baby shopping and have a bulk lot of nappies/wipes/milk etc already because now i have stopped working 4 weeks early we are going to struggle. Have just decided that the money i got for my birthday will be helping to support us this week rather than buying me a present! Have also decided that i will buy the present i wanted in Jan sales instead!!

Am off to bed now cos it has been a very emotional day. Have decided its harder work pretending im ok than it would be to cry. Will let my feelings out more tomorrow. Thankfully Alex had been jigging and stretching about all day!!

ei23monster · 17/10/2005 22:43

hey everyone! guess what! iv just finished my first ever internet food shop from the asda!! i managed to stick to our budjet and got everythin we needed aswell!! im absolutely chuffed!! oooh the wonders of tinternet!!

ei23monster · 17/10/2005 22:46

sorry- hey bonkerz its lovely to see you here checkin in etc! good luck with your scan and try to relax as much as you can in basingstoke- i know its gonna be hard hun but youl be ok xx

dramaqueen72 · 18/10/2005 00:07

good luck with that scan bonkerz.
ei, LOL the wonders of the internet indeed!.....

george32 · 18/10/2005 09:11

LOL Ei! The internet truely is a miracle

Bonkerz, good luck with your scan today.
I'm glad to see that Alex is wriggling about happily.

DQ, another late night for you then? I woke up hourly last night which was new. Really ready for my 2 hour drive now!

Must measure for TP Tuesday before I go......... (please be more than 8 or DQ will be round to force feed me choccy brownies!! )

george32 · 18/10/2005 09:15

STILL 8 sheets!!!
DQ, promise I'm not cheating. I eat & eat & it all goes on my bum!!

Probably won't be back on here til tomorrow evening so just wanted to wish you a good scan too DQ. I really hope that it goes well for you and the little one.

ninah · 18/10/2005 09:22

ds told me I had the biggest bottom in the world this morning [shock}. Also (am wearing lacy top) that I look like an elm tree!!! so won't be measuring Quite Yet!

sweetheart · 18/10/2005 09:28

Bonkerz - it's really great to hear from you - feel free to come on here and chat, we're all here for you hun. We'd love to see you at the meet up!

Ei - Just be careful with Asda - we used them a couple of times and got lots of salad, fruit and veg that was right on the sell by date. They tend to send out the old stuff and unfortunatly we had to chase them for refunds! I found Tesco to be better although as with all these things I begrudged paying to have the shopping delivered when we were trying to stick to a tight budget!

morning all, and what a morning....grrrrrrrrr tell you about it later. Am just off for my first ever antenatal class...is this going to help or hinder me i wonder... back rund 112 ish so will enlighten you all then. Good luck with those scans that are happening today, and as for the sheet measurment, i dont think i have enuff left to attempt to go round me, again will let you know later, Have a good morning

george32 · 18/10/2005 10:01

LOL Ninah, he obviously hasn't seen mine!!
Hmnmm, elm tree(?) is that a good look for you??

Good luck at your ante-natal Jaysfirst.

SH, I don't mind paying for del at the moment, it's so much easier than slogging round the supermarket.
Tried most of them but my favourite is Ocado. Less products but they do tell you what is in stock & what isn't before you put it on your list. At least it means that everything arrives. Then again, If I send DP I don't have to pay delivery at all!!

Right I really am off now. See you tomorrow.

scully · 18/10/2005 10:02

Ninah, hilarious comment from your ds, things are black and white in their world aren't they My dd just wants to kiss the baby every 5min which is very sweet, but when she lifts my top up at every opportunity, it can get a bit much
Last 2 nights have been waking up at around 4am and that's been it until the alarm goes off at 6am......consequently just in a delightful mood when I get to work. Finding it harder and harder to come in here each week, but can't afford to stop work any earlier.......oh well, 25/11 will be here before I know it.
Your spd sounds awful Jay, good thing you're at home now and don't have to rush around as much.
Good luck with all the scans today!

dramaqueen72 · 18/10/2005 10:10

morning ladies. thanks for the well wishes george, have a safe trip and eat lots!!
ninah - an ELM tree? not an oak? or an ash? hmmmmmmm, how funnny! am sure my bottom would beat yours btw....
good luck today again bonkerz. hope it lifts your spirits to see that girl in there.
I'm actually pretty nrevous about mine tomorrow. havent said a word to dh because hes just so excited about a scan and chance to see the baby. I'm STILL worried about the soft marker being there. having been all over the internet I know more about it and as per usual, a little knowledge is a dangerous thing it wont be, it shouldnt be still there, as 99.9% of them arent. but you know. til that moment cant shift the last tiny 'what if'. cross with myself for thinking like that too. grumble grumble.....
TP tuesday will do when i get back, just off into town with dd2 for a spot of christmas shopping (distraction technique)
sorry today hasnt started well jays, sure it will improve.
s/h hope youre having a more productive morning at work!? and would agree with you about asda home shopping. and tesco drove me mad too. have a big discount for waitrose to try so may be tempted back to online shopping, we shall see. with a newborn I wont have much choice!!

scully · 18/10/2005 10:26

Haven't tried online shopping before but am considering it for the first couple of months with a newbie and a 3yr old in tow, in the depths of winter.....I have the choice of Asda, Tescos or Sainsburys where we are. Apart from the nectar points, would go with whoever gave me free delivery
But will remember to avoid ordering fresh things, think I would rather choose those myself & a good reason to leave the house occasionally
Wonder how realistic it is to expect to see any of the after Xmas sales this year??

sweetheart · 18/10/2005 11:02

Scully - I fully plan on doing the Next sale. I've seen some lovely bits for the baby in there but I refuse to buy it when I know it will be half price in a few weeks!

Mind you, with any luck my baby will already be 3 weeks old by Xmas how wierd is that!!!

DQ, I totally sympathise with your feelings of panic - just think how elated you'll feel tomorrow afternoon when you've been for your scan and they said everything is fine - I was on cloud 9 for the rest of the day Don't forget to ask how much the baby weighs! I found that very exciting

OP posts:
sweetheart · 18/10/2005 12:26

Just done TP and I've gone down a whole sheet Am now 9 1/4 squares so......

it's either down to the fact that work have changed their brand of loo roll AGAIN shhhhhhh don't tell ninah it's now the quilted stuff

OR my bump has dropped. The lady did say the head was down at my scan last week!

OP posts:
scully · 18/10/2005 12:34

I must try and remember to measure again, I find memory has shut down most evenings
This one was also head down at my last check up at 29wks, have another checkup this Friday so curious to know if it has stayed that way.
Bought a ball from Argos yesterday and dh found it very amusing to see me sitting on it for the evening
At least today is quieter at work, was ready to hurt someone yesterday they were all irritating me so much

bigscaryeyes · 18/10/2005 12:44

Just jumped in - havn't had PC access for a while so hope everyones keeping well (will have a good read later) still no further forward with SPD MW forgot to make referal to physio lots of tears this morning. I am feeling v v guilty about going on maternity leave so early as if I'm letting myself down for not being able to stick it longer.

Nemo666 · 18/10/2005 12:51

afternoon all

not been on much as have been feeling rough...turns out i have a chest infection so on antibiotics. Been to mw this morning and everything is fine..measuring 32wks [am 32 on fri] and baby is head down on the brim. Was giving a good kicking to the mw aswell when she was feeling..lol Also had my bloods done so will see what they come back with as have a feeling iron levels are low.

The spa party last night was lovely. WEird being out without adam..lol I bought one thing which is a gift set for dhs mum for her bday which is on my due date and her bday last year was ruined by the scan where baby had died so hoping its a bit nicer this year.

Hope everyone is ok....will try and catch up after a sleep so I can feel more human.
Take care

Nemo666 · 18/10/2005 12:53

MEant to say think george asked about the spd..it is still bad but think im just getting used to it now..lol The crutches are still an option but not practical with Adam around..I already knock him over with my bump..lol

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 12:54

afternoon everyone!! im on a sickie from work today as iv done somethin to my back an it feels a bit crunchy an v v sore!! i cant get an appt til friday at my gp either so its just a case of stayin off work for me i think!
im feelin a bit sorry for myself today and am working my way through a box of roses my big sis bought me the other day! i suppose my sore back will give me an opportunity to catch up on daytime tv!!
how is everyone? what u all up to today?

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 12:57

bigscarey, i so sympathise love with your SPD when you get a chance to read up on the messages you wil see that i am suffering too and like you ( i think) i have been signed off of work, six weeks before i am due to start maternity...feel exactly the same in that i wish i couldve stuck it out a bit longer, but you have to listen to your body and mine was telling me to rest! it has improved slighly too and i dont feel under pressure to pretend that all is ok when it clearly isnt! So dont worry kiddo youre not alone in this!
I have an exercise/maternity ball also scully, there really comfy, and scarey it really helps the SPD when your sitting on it, as does wearing a belt, not the skinny little ones but a good wide one. I got mine form the physio but if youre in dire need i see there are some up on ebay for sale.

kangel · 18/10/2005 13:00

Hi everyone.... Am just back from GP Appointment where he checked my head and said it was inflamed and there is nothing i can do or use to ease it. Told DP that SDD can't come back till she is clear as have been told if I get them I cannot use anything - am I being too harsh?

Also told that if baby hasn't moved by next an appointment I will be sent to a specialist to try and move it or it will be a c-sec - am feeling quite anxious and scared now. Its laying at an angle but not head down, bum is under my ribs.

Good luck to those with scans today.

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 13:01

aww ei, rest up good and proper, youre allowed to feel sorry for yourself, i do it on a regular basis, my DH is away for the next three days so i am on my own only got you lot for company, how sad am i! SPD needs to be outlawed i think, until i was diagnosed i had never heard of it, in fact i think i may have self diagnosed, even my doctor when i told him what the ohysio had said, asked me if 'thats what its being called nowadays'!!!! Seems like sometimes you know more that the quacks! Wht are all the scans for that i ama reading about? cant be the 22 week ones ( which i have had) so are they extra ones for those that need them? i am a bit lost?

scully · 18/10/2005 13:04

I'm one of the lucky ones & haven't developed spd, but am using the ball to encourage baby to be in the right position this time! So far so good, but I've not sat on our lounge for about 6wks now, on the floor each night watching telly......Actually more comfy as I think I would disappear into the lounge with no hope of getting off it anytime soon But at least this time if I do all the right things and it's still breech, at least I tried!
Enjoy your rest Nemo, I'm envious. I disappear into the ladies for a little breaks when I've really had enough

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 13:08

scully, i just got back from antenatel and the physio there was telling us about diff positions to encourage the turn in an attempt to prevent breech, the best one it seems is th sit on a dining room chair, back to fron with your legs astride, bottom slightly handing of the back and resting your arms on the back of the chair ( does this make sense?) apparently by leaning forward slightly your tummy acts as a 'sling' allowing more room for the baby to turn..... who knows its woth a try!
