A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 10:38

Bonkerz - always thinking of you hun. Take care of yourself and the baby and if you need anything we are all here for you!

Kangel - I'd be pretty too. Tell your sdd mother to get rid of the lice herself in future - the bloody cheek of the woman!

George I'm sooooo of you still in your PJ's - not that I will be able to anyway once I finish coz I'll still have the school run to do! Ohhh I can't wait to be at home!

Nemo - I'm sooo of your spa thing too!!!! I hope you have a lovely time, I'm sure it will be fab!

Ninah - how are you today hun? Good weekend.

And, HELLO everyone else!

Not much happeneing here - going to try and get some more revision down (YAWN) Bored at work - as per usual!

Ohhhh, went and brought some lovely blue bits this weekend! Can you believe I brought some baby socks, put them straight in to wash, transferred them to the dryer - got them out to put them away and guess what - ONE BLOOSY SOCK had gone missing How on earth I'll never know - I've looked high and low for it!!!!

OP posts:
scully · 17/10/2005 11:01

That is funny sh, lose a sock before the baby has worn it!
I managed to have a fairly relaxing weekend. Took dd swimming on Sat am which was fun but I think is getting too much for me now so dh is going to do it from this weekend for a while. Started wrapping Xmas presents on Sat afternoon, and went through who I still need to buy for, not many left thank goodness......Sunday am unpacked bags and bags of baby things that had been stored since dd, so have made it all fit and dd's room is now tidy again......haven't bothered washing anything though 'cause as fast as I was putting things away she had her nose in the drawer, wanting to have a look at everything
Also started packing my hospital bag
So sorry to hear your news Bonkerz, take care of you over the next few weeks/months.
George, very envious you're not at work, I really struggled to get out of bed this morning, but then some nice man gave me his seat in 1st class, which improved my morning somewhat

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 12:49

Can those of you for the meetup just have a quick check here

Cheers xxx

oh bonkerz I am so so very sorry, I just read this. I lost my mum almost a year ago to the day, in fact I spent last weekend with my dad, leaving ds with p. It must be very emotional with the pregancy as well. Let me know if I can do anything or if you want to talk.

dramaqueen72 · 17/10/2005 14:57

afternoon ladies.
ei -have hopefully sorted out email you sent, sorry I've been so busy.
s/h you need a sock net!!
our nursery is all decorated now. wow. just need half the furniture and a blind (wheres the cheapest place for blackout blinds anyone?)
we have our scan wed, and the baby show friday. busy week!

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 15:29

DQ - cheap blackout blinds either Argos or B&Q!!! OR, if you have curtains you could go to your local fabric shop and get lining to attach to the curtains!

OP posts:
dramaqueen72 · 17/10/2005 15:38

see, somehow I just KNEW it would be you that knew that s/h!!! thankyou will go check it out, it is of course a strange sized window so suspect nowhere will be quite the bargain I hope!

ninah · 17/10/2005 16:12

I got thermal blackout ones from Homebase as windows not standard size. Blooming fiddly trying to cut them, decorator lady already wrecked one. They were £40 each. I think B&Q also do cut to size ones and sh sent me a link for argos too but they didn't have what I wanted in stock and I couldn't wait (tho now 4 months down the line ... I still have to fix them up! ...sounds petty but if we're not staying I'm not spending £120 on blinds for the house!)

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 16:13

DQ - couldn't find a white one but there is a beige one here

And it can be trimmed to size as you said your window is an odd size!

Bargain at £16

OP posts:
sweetheart · 17/10/2005 16:14

and if you get a blind from B&Q they will cut them to size for you - well they do in our store anyway!

OP posts:
ninah · 17/10/2005 16:15

FFFFCCK! £16!!!!!!!! choke gulp swear

ninah · 17/10/2005 16:16

ONO IT GETS WORSE! sh are you trying to give me apoplexy!
Right I'm cashing the two uncut ones in and going to B&Q FFFKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 16:17

pmsl - sorry ninah!!!! Anyway, get p to buy them - it's his house!!!

OP posts:
ninah · 17/10/2005 16:20

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 18:01

hey people, i am not very good at keeping this up really am i. Still i have been signed off of work now so i might just be able to keep up with all the messages tat aget posted, and hopefully get a bit more interaction with you all. I have been suffering with SPD, wow what a nightmare it is.. have had physio, painkillers, osteopathy, three diff support belts and now have been given crutchs...dunno about feeling pregnant i feel like i am an OAP. Its quite depressing too as i dont know that many people where i live and all my family are a cpl of hrs away, a cyber network of advice and support is just what i need i think!
I did have a really enjoyable time though last Tuesday, my mum came up and came with me and hubby to have a 4D scan done. It was totally amazing. We got 20 perfect pics of our soon to be daughter and an awesome haf hour DVD of her doing some funky moves!! I was so suprised at the amount of movement that does on with out me actuallly feeling it. I mean i am feeling her kicking all the time but this was something completely different! ANYWAY.... hopefully like i said i should be around a bit more now so waych out for more messages!!
J xx

ei23monster · 17/10/2005 18:26

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 18:48

hiya ei, thanks for that, i might be up for it, wold be good to get out and about. I live in Surrey ( is there anyone else going from this way i wonder?) i do drive and i think its down the M3 from me, maybe an hour or so away, will have to seehow i am feeling with the SPD as it does restrict me from driving. When are the dates for it?

george32 · 17/10/2005 20:10

Hi all. Well so much for me posting more now I'm at home! Been really busy cleaning & shopping and snoozing (how nice is having a nap in the afternoon ). DP is away and, although I am missing him terribly, it is lovely to wake up & the house is still as clean as I left it!
Hi Jaysfirst, Nov 17th is the meet up date. Sorry to hear about your SPD. It sounds really awful. Nemo, are you still suffering?

I've bought 2 baby grow things today - woo hoo! Finally I'm off & running on the shopping front. More shopping with my sis on Thursday.
Off visiting my BF & her new teeny baby tomorrow & then my mums for tea & to stay so I won't be back til Wed afternoon.
I LOVE being off work

sweetheart · 17/10/2005 20:21

dramaqueen72 · 17/10/2005 21:14

not at all s/h, thought I had prob missed you.
george, have a fabulous break away and much baby shopping we shall miss you! and for my house to stay as I left it, I would have to send the children away as well as dh. and then, my goodness, what would i do?! LOL
hi jaysfirst, sorry about the spd, mines bad but not that bad at all. poor you. suggest chocolate and internet shopping as a good cure all, or at least a help!!
evening all up late dec mummies, i am trawling internet as per usual. soon to be sleepless in southampton I have no doubt!

Jaysfirst · 17/10/2005 21:30

Thanks DQ, internet and chocolate, seems like a plan to me i seem to think that i am the only one with this horrid pain, but i realise i am not. Still it will be all worth it in the end! Its god to know that there are others out there who are in the same boat, or a very sim one anyway!
