Due in Dec 05 - thread 10. The one where we all become friends!

A new thread for all us friendly Dec ladies

We sit and we type,
And we stare at our screens;
We all have to wonder
What this possibly means.
With our mouse we roam,
Through the rooms in a maze;
Looking for something or someone,
As we sit in a daze.
We chat with each other;
We type all our woes;
Small groups we do form,
And gang up on our foes.
We wait for somebody
To type out our name;
We want recognition,
But it is always the same.
We give kisses and hugs,
And sometimes flirt;
In PMs (IMs) we chat deeply,
And reveal why we hurt.
We do form friendships -
Yet why, we don't know;
But some of these friendships
Will flourish and grow.
Why is it on screen,
We can be so bold?
Telling our secrets
That have never been told.
Why is it we share
The thoughts in our mind
With those we can't see,
As though we were blind?
The answer is simple;
It's as clear as a bell.
We all have our problems
And need someone to tell.
We can't tell real people,
But tell someone we must;
So we turn to the computer,
And to those we can trust.
Even though it is crazy,
The truth still remains:
There are Friends Without Faces,
With odd little names.

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 15:42

iv stopped watchin the dis h&h channel cos it was startin to freak me out a little bit!! im all for info about birth when i can get it but watchin other women give birth is a bit too much for me at the mo!!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 15:43

Thanks, ChaCha! We give Floradix to DD. I'd heard good things about it.

I had severe anaemia. I'd been fainting, dizzy and light-headed, but I thought it was just the usual 3rd trimester stuff.

Yep, it was those horrid ferrous sulphate tablets that make me so ill. I mean, I could NOT stop vomitting and NHS24 fobbed me off. I figured it was those tablets tho.

They're vile!

I'll be able to get more Floradix once I get paid next week I'm drinking pomegranate juice as well.

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 15:43

hi expat, cant say that i am having any probs in that department, i only have to look at food and on the weight goes, mind i havent been ill or perscribed any iron that might make me feel ill. Sorry to hear that you are feeling poo its not nice, but am sure that all will be ok for you, am guessing that your midwie and/or doc knows how you are feeling and if they are ok with it then i wouldnt worry to much. s long as you try and take on board fluids then i am sure you and baby will be fine! at least you wnt have any excess to shift after the birth!!

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 15:46

hello expat!! sorry to hear you arent well hun! u shud talk to your m/w or gp about the side effects of your iron tablets as they shouldnt really have that bad of an effect on you!! they might swap them with another one to see if that helps!! nice to hear from you tho hun!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 15:49

I haven't bothered telling the midwife or GP that I stopped taking those vile tablets. All I ever get is fobbed off anyhow.

I'm not complaining about losing weight, believe me! The less I weigh, the better. My right knee joint is full of metal pins and staples, so extra weight is hard to bear at any rate.

I'm taking advantage of the fact that food nauseates me - I know it won't last!

When I had DD, I had awful acid reflux that prevented me from eating much in the last trimester. I put on a lot of weight b/c of fluid retention from hypertension, but it all just fell off and w/i a week of delivery, I was a stone lighter than when I had her. BONUS! .

scully · 18/10/2005 15:52

Which tablets are you on expat? I'm taking ferrous sulphate 200mg and have had a bit of a runny tummy over several days but nothing like you by the sounds of it. Are they going to try you on something else? I think iron tablets can block your system too, I've been having dried apricots to help with that, and they are high in iron as well.
You must be feeling even more washed out now, with that and being anaemic....

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 15:55

hhmmmmm maybe i shouldnt complain about my horrid heartburn and just not eat anything! kill two birds with one stone!

I cant get enough of the births on the tele, but i get sooo emotional watching these mums with their babies, i am geting impatient and i still have 9/10 wks to go !!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 15:58

I was on 800g ferrous sulphate a day b/c apparently I was quite anaemic. It mainly just makes me very light-headed and fatigued, but I can deal w/that. Better than retching endlessly and bringing everything I eat back up.

I've found that if I stick to a light breakfast and a light tea, and then a slice of toast to nibble in the evenings, it keeps me going.

If I feel better by payday, I'll try taking Floradix, but it's not cheap stuff, unfortunately, so we normally just give it to DD.

It's only another few weeks to go, so not the worst thing in the world.

And less to lose afterwards! Woohoo!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 16:01

Try everything for the heartburn, jays! I got an ulcer in my oesophagus from reflux last time, so eating really hurt. But before that I tried Rennies, Gaviscon and was even prescribed rantidine/Zantac. In hospital for the ulcer, I got something else that worked, but by then it was only 3 weeks before DD arrived.

I put on about 3 stone, but a lot of it was swelling, particularly in my legs.

I'd met a few people before I had DD, and one of them saw me a month later and exclaimed, 'OMG! I thought you'd been fat before you got pregnant you were so big!'

Thanks, pal!

scully · 18/10/2005 16:03

Geez, 800mg a day, might help your anaemia but not worth it for the rest of the symptoms! Think I'll stick to my 200mg and just be tired still
Weight loss is always a bonus though
I also like some of those pregnancy/birth shows, although I don't watch them often, as dd sits there wanting to know all the ins and outs and sometimes I can't cope with the inquisition

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 16:06

No longer watch those birth/delivery shows, except 'Desperate Midwives'. All old and jaded, me!

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 16:15

my my the things we go through, what did the women do in days of old without all these remedies for ailments and conditions, i think that in the long run we have to think ourselves lucky that there are so many useful tips around and so many mediums in order to recieve them, my Gran wouldnt beleive it if i told her i spoke to pg women all over Eng ( and the world) about how they were feeling and what stage they were at!

As for the baby programmes i guess its just because its my first and i cant get enough of it,i think that next time ( already decided there will be anext time) i will be more informed and not in need of this continued input!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 16:17

The most wonderful thing about pregnancy is that it's temporary! Yes, the first one seems really long, but after that, you realise it's quite short and it helps you knuckle through a lot.

ChaCha · 18/10/2005 16:34

Blimey, you ladies sure beat us Novemberers with the chat

Expat - Poor you! I went through much of the same on half of the dosage. I was really ill but like you put it down to third trimester ailments.
You are quite right, the Floradix is pricey at 12pounds and I really resented having to buy it when the tablets were prescription. Anyway, have managed to keep food down since Saturday so I'm well pleased to be me again!
Oh....for all you ladies here, two of our November ladies have had their babies and I think a couple more are on the way!!!! Makes it such a reality doesn't it?

ei23monster · 18/10/2005 16:41

omg chacha their babies must be a few weeks early then!! iv still got 10 weeks til my dd and that seems so far away at the mo! goin by what you jus said i might only have like six weeks....{cue ei runnin round in a panic...!!}

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 16:44

hahaha ei, if i could run i would be right there with you, whens your due date? i have about 10 wks to go too!!

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 16:48

Woohoo! Thanks for the news, ChaCha. Hearing about ladies popping at 38 weeks makes me smile!! Here's hoping. DD arrived at 38 weeks+3days.

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 16:52

yeah, thinking about it if i give birth two weeks early i will have her right b4 christmas, does that mean i have to get her chrissie pressies.....if i don't, in years to come i will sound mean....i can hear it now..' i didnt get anything for my first christmas..'lol

expatinscotland · 18/10/2005 16:59

Let's see, 38 weeks would put me right at 4 December. Now that would be ACE as my parents are coming on 19 December for an entire month!

Babysitting! I'd even be able to go out w/DH - alone - for a wee drink down the pub in the holiday spirit. Be able to bend over and paint my toenails and give my feet a proper pedicure. EAT some goodies. Wear clothes that don't look like tents. Lovely underwear. High heels.

Break out the birthing balls and start going upstairs sideways, ladies.

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 17:07

ever tried sitting on a bith balll while trying to hold the lap top and type.....its not funny!!!

As for going up stairs sideways...i have never heard of that, sounds good to me though, in fact it helps with the SPD pain so cant be bad.

Just measured my bump....10 1/2 sheets...oh lord i coculd almost have that birthball up my jumper!!

Nemo666 · 18/10/2005 17:34

goodness you lot can natter..all I can remember is bacon, mash and birthing balls..lmao

Bonkerz hun will text you tommorow to see how your doing. Dont know if you have replied to todays as I dont know where I have put my phone..typical me.

Well all I have done is lie on the couch just been to loo and dh has put the cot up and tidied in the room more, although I need to sort the bedding into boxes under the cot.

bonkerz · 18/10/2005 18:16

Scan was great. Alex is definately a girl!!! She is weighing in at an estimated 3lb 6oz and is finally head down! The scanner lady was just the best and we have come away with 2 beautiful pitures of our daughters face! Really clear and she took extra so i can put a picture with my mum. Spoke to consultant (who turned out to be the gynea doc who did my D&C in Jan) who has said that if i really want a c/ section then he hasnt got a problem with it. I will have to be explained all the risks but he is happy to set a date at my 36 weeks scan!! Alex is measuring about 5 days bigger than the dates the hospital have for her so puts me back to........25th December!!

Am off to Basingstoke in half an hour so will try and pop on a few times!

Jaysfirst · 18/10/2005 18:34
