Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Redlaura - its kind of what belgina said - my ds1 has been quite a handful because of really bad eczema and we haven't really had more than about 9 or 10 full nights sleep since he was born. Ds2 is a fantastic sleeper but that's beside the point.

I am delaying telling people a little because I'm nervous of people thinking that we find it quite tough with two so why are we having three. (our reasons are that ds1 is getting easier to deal with all the time as he gets older, we both really want three and I think we would rather put up with a few really hard years, but have the benefits of three, than always wonder why we didn't have three if ds1 grows out of his skin condition).

Other reason is that mil is a difficult person to get on with - but thats a whole other thread, and the last person that I would want sympathy if anything went wrong would be her. Saw my family last weekend, and I really regret not telling them as I'd rather not do it over the phone, so I will wait to tell pil until I've told my family.

Sorry for being a very long post. I am not very good at being succinct.

I should probably just go ahead and tell them this weekend.

Please don't give me a biscuit anyone.

redlaura · 21/01/2011 07:23

Wow greedychos you must be knackered!!! But good on you for sticking to what you want and going for it. I'm just realising now that I'm pregnant that everyone has an opinion about what you do and thinks it okay to share it. My sister got really angry with me when I told her that I'd broken the news to a select few from work. I was taken aback by how strongly she felt and how she thought she could lecture me as this isn't really her style at all. Not as bad as my godmother-in-law. When we went to see th pils to tell them the news D's mum called her sister who is also D's godmother and within 45 minutes she was at the front door. I've only met this woman once but she walked straight up to me, put her bans on her hips and said "so you're having an illegitimate child then? "

greedychops · 21/01/2011 07:45

No way Redlaura - that's so rude! I don't know if I would have kept polite at that point or not. What did you say to her or did you just laugh it off?

Although hi sleeping is bad, I'm not as knackered as you might think - you do adjust to less sleep over time. Dh finds it quite hard at times. As long as we don't both find it hard at the same time, it works out fine.

Opinions on things are what you will find you'll get from everyone and their sister for the rest of the pregnancy, and once the child is born. I've always just taken the advice I wanted, and politely ignored the rest.

alibaba1980 · 21/01/2011 08:51

Belgina ? I?m sorry to hear your news, as redlaura said, we are all thinking of you.

Dh and I are going to visit pil this weekend and have decided to tell them our news so I?m really excited about that. Both sets of parents live over 100 miles from us in opposite directions so we want to tell them face to face rather than over the phone. By coincidence we?re seeing my parents next weekend so will tell them as well. I?m not sure how they?ll react - I?m expecting shocked but excited! We?re not planning on telling anyone else until we?ve had the scan which feels like weeks away!

iskra · 21/01/2011 09:34

helloo... joining too.

about 6 weeks pregnant, due 15th September I think. DD was 2 weeks late though so I'm not expecting a baby to arrive on time! DD is 2 and a half, so she will be 3 & a bit when the new one comes, & we are moving cities about 6 weeks before due date which should be exciting too! I've booked myself in for the homebirth midwives we had with DD, haven't told them I'm moving yet - was really nice getting antenatal care from them & maybe our plans will fall through...

We haven't told anyone yet - frankly because have heard a lot of sad stories recently & don't want to have to un-tell the whole world. Also because my sister in law has just had her first baby (on Sunday) & we don't want to distract from her thunder.

So... hi Smile

yoshimigalloway · 21/01/2011 10:04

morning everyone,

very sorry belgina.

I kind of wish I had only told my mum and my friend now. Not that's it's a big deal, I only also told my dad, sister and grandmother. They were so exited and i just still feel that it's unreal. I've moved on to twinings decaffinated which are lovely. I've also bought some redbush tea, it smells like tobacco though! I've developed a very sore huge spot right in the middle of my eyebrows, my OH kindly said that I look like a character from avatar. I still have a headache and am going to bed much earlier. After that interesting and ground breaking update I've nothing else to report!

pookamoo · 21/01/2011 10:04

Well I saw the midwife yesterday, and my EDD is 3rd September, but we are just going to tell people "the end of the summer" Smile

redlaura · 21/01/2011 18:25

Greedychops I just looked her in the eye and said yes. She then asked if we were going to get it christened wherby I announced my atheists belief. By all accounts most of her own family thinks she's mental so I justthink it's funny although sometimes I verge on the indignant... I mean I'm 35 for crying out loud!!!! Obviously D just sat their and looked awkward. In the end I suggested to her that D and I might be left to talk about these things before she rams her views down our throats. I mean this woman is crazy... She drinks peppermint tea and Bacardi FFS

Belgina - if you're checking the thread I hope you're doing okay! X

Nice to see the new faces on the thread

loomer · 21/01/2011 19:11

alibaba1980, I don't think you can drink too much Redbush - it is naturally caffeine free, and lots of antioxidants in it, I think it's all good for you (at least I hope so because my intake is increasing daily!). I'm getting unbelievably thirsty in the afternoons/evenings, I assume that's because all the liquid is filling up my belly instead of coming out!

I've told my two closest friends our news, because I just couldn't hold it in Smile, but am holding off of telling my parents yet, because of all the gushing that will follow (have always been a bit smothered by my mother's love). But we will have lunch with them next sunday so I think it'll be inevitable that alcohol will be on the menu and I'll have to refuse it, and they will guess straight away. As regards your PIL greedychops, could you try the "I'm on a New Year detox" excuse?

redlaura · 21/01/2011 20:02

Perfect loomed... Dry January!!! It'll work greedychops

Louplet · 21/01/2011 21:39

No way I can keep it quiet. I am already quite obviously pregnant!

My DPs were very shocked at news of a DC3, particularly so soon after DS2, but they seem to have come round a bit now. My DH keeps teasing them that we may go for DC4 as well though and I am not sure they find that very funny though no one's business but ours IMO Smile.

Decaffinated Twinings Earl Grey is lovely. Also you can get Ginger and camomile tea from (I think) Mama Tea but I haven't tried it yet.

Sickness definitely worse now. Just need to keep eating through it Smile

Hi Newbies!

OP posts:
greedychops · 21/01/2011 22:52

Ooh I know the woman who runs mama tea - she's in our mumpreneur network and is very nice.

Dry january s a good idea but we lasted about 15 mins at pil before telling them. We had a whole gin and tonic plan, with sharing wine at lunch but we arrived and they had beer for the first drink so we just went with telling them. They were very pleased Grin

Redlaura - I was trying to work out what was wrong with peppermint tea and Bacardi - but I take it you mean together? That is weird. She certainly sounds like a character.

redlaura · 22/01/2011 08:31

Indeed greedychops. Glad I went well!

I second the twinnings decaf earl grey! Lovely.

Up early to beat the Oxford street crowds!!! Desperately need bigger bras!!!

redlaura · 22/01/2011 08:32

Glad IT went well that should read. Losing my marbles clearly

lxr1 · 22/01/2011 09:26

Snap redlaura! I'm heading into Cambridge to find bigger bras this morning. Can't believe I've already grown out of my existing ones!

Xmasevie · 22/01/2011 16:45

I just told my best friend as she guessed when I declined pink champagne for my 30th bday celebrations. I'm so happy to have told someone!! Also booked my 8 week private scan to see if the bubba has a heartbeat and everything going ok, hopefully this will ease my paranoia. Glad to see more new mummies on the thread. I've been drinking decaff tea and decaff coffee - that's ok isn't it? 6w+1 day, time continues to drag!!

feralgirl · 22/01/2011 19:54

So sorry for Belgina. I am so paranoid about this pregnancy I kept myself awake for an hour worrying last night. In the last 18 months three of my friends have had MCs and I am freaking out about my cramps.

I seriously thought I'd be more laid back this time around, not less. I was totally blase during pg1; ate what I fancied (sushi, soft cheese and all Shock), drank a couple of glasses of wine a week, tottered around in heels for 8 months until they didn't fit anymore, forgot my folic acid. Of course DS is absolutely fine and everything went perfectly, why then am I so paranoid about DC2 ffs?!

Glad to see so many people are drinking Twinings, I'm related to them Wink. I have one big cup of proper coffee in the morning and then generally stick to lemon and ginger (usually homemade) for the rest of the day, same as when I'm not pg. I was given a DIY ginger beer kit for christmas so will have to start sterilising some bottles I think.

yoshimigalloway · 22/01/2011 23:07

hello,

i'm a little worried as i've had a little bit of brown discharge this evening. not too much and just when i wiped after the loo. I've got the docs on mon so i guess i have to wait & see what happens. I'm still worried though x

ssmile · 23/01/2011 11:10

Hope all ok yoshi and GP puts mind at rest.

I had horrid 48hrs tummy bug lost 7lbs :( still in bed on day 3 eating dried shreddies. My DD had it at the start of the week so I guess it was to be expected but thought I had escaped with lots of hand washing. I just hope the little bean will be ok, 7wks+4d. I am size 16/18 so loosing the weight is ok but could not take folic acid last couple of days so fingers crossed today it will stay in...along with some food.

Tried ginger beer flat but just could not stomach the taste back to flat lemonade and water.

On my own with DD next two days as DH goes back to work so hopefully have more energy and can get out of bed then.

belgina · 23/01/2011 14:45

Hi everyone.

Just caught up with the thread after moving house and being off line for a while. My scary bleed on Thurs stopped fairly quickly in the end and I've only had brown loss since. EPAC told me to take it easy and have time off work until it eases, which I did. I did a pg test yesterday and it was still very positive. My sickness is returning too. I think i didnt notice it muvh with being so busy with the move. My instinct is to take it easy and stay home until my scan a week on mon, so will see GP tomorrow to sign me off. I've got a job that requires being on my feet rushing around all day, you see.

yoshi. Hope you're ok. Bleeds in pregnancy are always scary. I know exactly how you feel.

redlaura Shock at that woman!! My own MIL totally ignored my 1st pg until it got to a stage it couldn't be ignored. She mellowed quickly after the birth though and wasn't shocked at all with dc2. By the time we had dc3 we were married and she was all happy.

iskra. I had a hb too with dc3. It was lovely and if this little bean clings on, I'll go for one again.

ssmile. Hope you feel better soon :)

redlaura xlr1 good luck with the bra shopping. In my last pregnancy my boobs went from a D to a G cup!! They are now seriously saggy, lol. With me still bf, they've not changed much. I had the same while still bf and pg with dd1. So sort of expected this.

feralgirl I hope you get to relax a little soon. I think the magic 12 week mark and dating scan will surely help. Do you think you're more worried now, because you're more aware of what can go wrong?

loome like the jan detox idea! Just what do we tell peoplexin feb?!

tea I'm sticking to redbush. Love the stuff :o. Just need to made DH appeciate it a bit more!

Hope you're all having a lovely Sunday.

Am on phone, so probably have a few x-posts

yoshimigalloway · 23/01/2011 15:12

Hi belgina, glad you'e doing okay - take it easy. That's what i'm doing too.

docs at 9am, I can't wait. I had a bit more brown watery discharge this morning. No pains though, I can't wait to ask the doc. I expect he'll just say it's too early to do anything. i hope he'll do some blood tests though.

It's driving me crazy not knowing, I really need to improve my patience but i can't think of anything else. Hope everyone else is doing well x

belgina · 23/01/2011 17:36

yoshi It's unlikely they're going to take blood tests, but they will refer you to EPAU for an early scan. I hope it settles soon and take it easy :)

I started this post ages ago, so apologies if I missed some one :)

ravenlocks · 23/01/2011 18:45

Hi, can I join in? Late joiner, BFP on Thursday. EDD 28 September.

Not got any realy symptoms apart from being really tired! Will be good to learn along the way from those that are due earlier in September and are a few weeks ahead.

Re diet. Are you avoiding cold meat? Just wondering what the heck I am going to eat for my lunch over the next 8 months as am an office worker and usually go for sarnies with ham or chicken or beef. Or prawn or crayfish sarnie. Or a green or pasta salad with chicken. Or sushi. All out?? I find salad only sarnies or cheese really boring and unsatisfactory.

Sorry to those that are having a scary time atm. Keep well.

feralgirl · 23/01/2011 18:49

Yay belgina! SO glad you're ok. :) I don't know if that's why I'm more stressed, like you say. S'pose it'd make sense. This one's been a lot better planned so maybe it's also the feeling of there being more at stake.

feralgirl · 23/01/2011 18:53

Raven, I ate all those things with ds1 and he's fine. I plan to eat whatever I want this time round too (with the exception of shark etc.) only less cake so I don't put on quite so much weight this time.
