Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Louplet Thanks for the advice - so nice to have experienced ladies to ask! Signed up with my local Doctor last night after work - got an appointment with a nurse next week. It's just a check up appointment as I couldn't bring myself to say anything in the totally SILENT waiting room with many old ladies staring at me! But at least that will get everything started.

awopbopaloobob - I feel exactly the same! I am excited and pleased yet also very overwhelmed and I don't think I actually believe it yet. You are definitely not alone.

slowshow thinking of you, hope you are ok.

Still no sickness but definitely noticing when I haven't eaten for a bit. Suddenly felt really awful after work last night then realised I hadn't eaten much all afternoon - so I ate and then felt better. Usually I don't get like that so I must remember to snack at work during the day - breakfast, lunch and dinner just isn't enough!

slowshow · 07/01/2011 09:51

Thanks everyone for being so kind Smile. I'm knackered and I do feel nauseous a lot of the time, so I'm taking that as a good sign. I need to ignore the doubting voice in my head telling me it's psychosomatic / anxiety.

Finding it really, really hard to force food down. Am resorting to Lucozade this morning.

Have a GP appointment tomorrow. I'm really concerned about all the flu scaremongering going on in the news at the moment. Have any of you thought about having a flu jab at this early stage?

ursigurke · 07/01/2011 13:01

slowshow, I think you are already showing quite a bit of symptoms, that's good. Remember, it is still very early. As far as I remember my last pregnancy, I only started to feel sick around 6 or even 7 weeks.
I didn't get the flu jab last time. It was just the first year when they had a flu jab and it was actually too late when I finally got an invitation letter. I would have been 48 weeks pregnant Hmm. But I would not have wanted it anyway as I didn't want to try something new, produced in a rush. I'm not sure this time around as I'm meeting lots more people and especially constantly sick children with my DD. But I'm in general not a big fan of jabs.

Louplet, I think if you can bf for 13 months than you really don't have to feel guilty.
Interesting about the milk tasting less good after 6 months. Sounds reasonable and really clever from nature. I'll see how it goes. We are down to three feeds at the moment and I'm planning to reduce to maybe one in the next couple of months anyway. If she doesn't want to drop the last one it is fine by me. I guess that wouldn't really matter. And the last thing I want is to add another reason to be jealous of the new baby. (I guess there will be enough other reasons)

kelly1409 · 07/01/2011 18:42

Hello lovely ladies,

I am due around 15th September - its my birthday on the 14th!

Its my first - eeeekkkkk!!We did 4 tests - still can't believe it.

Don't know about anyone here but i havent exactly had a great experience with talking to my nurse alrady. Called up for some advice and she said "Just don't worry about it, lots of bad things could happen so we don't see you this early". NICE (shock)

So it would be nice to chat to you guys on here to get some support - don't think the nhs can afford it!

Hedgehogg - I feel exactly the same. Sounds silly but we havent been trying for long - we thought it would take a bit longer as we have heard so many stories.

is anyone getting sickness yet? I am just getting tired and back niggles

kelly1409 · 07/01/2011 18:45

oh ps - in answer to slowshow I had my flu jab yesterday. I have asthmas as well and really didnt want to risk it. I live in the south east and its apparently getting bad here but you know the press - its all high drama!!! x :)

dipsymumsie · 07/01/2011 20:49

Hello! This is my first time posting! I have just had a BFP. Think my due date is about September 17th. This will be my third, already have two girls aged 3 and 4. I'm one of the older mums - will be 40 when I have this one ( all being well - I always find it such a long wait to the 12 week scan) which is slightly freaking me out! Also a bit concerned that i over did it at Christmas - really didn't think i was pregnant! Anyway - just saying hello to all you fellow September dues!

Louplet · 07/01/2011 22:03

slowshow I didn't have the swine flu jab last time round as was worried not enough testing and from talking to a dr friend knew that some pregnant drs and nurses were not taking it. I understand that this year's general flu jab is differently constituted with no problematic ingredients and I think on that basis and that no problems seem to have arisen since last year from flu jabs, I will probably go for it this time around. Flu plus pregnancy plus 2 small DSssounds like a vision o0f Hell!

ursigurke you may find this interesting
www.babycentre.co.uk/baby/breastfeeding/breastfeedwhenpregexpert/
it seems that what happens is the milk turns back to colostrum around the fifth month of pregnancy and some babies don't like the taste and self-wean but some don't

kelly1409 and dipsymumsie Congratulations! Welcome Smile

Still ravenous and lots of feeling sick but thankfully no vomiting (much the same as with DS1 and DS2). Trying to stick to fruit, nuts and other healthy snacks but not always successfully (M&S triple chocolate sundae - yum! Wink)

Hello all
Found out i was pregnant on 2nd Jan. Funny because i'd taken a couple of tests and both were negative. Did another because I was so late and that seemed negative too. I got a bit frustrated and walked away thinking I wasn't pregnant but not understanding why I was an emotional wreck with massive sore boobs. Had a cry with dave and then thought I should go and throw the test away... found the line!!! Just needed to be patient.

Been a very weird week. Completely thrilled to be pregnant and so is D. But I can't sleep very well, mostly for stress/anxiety. Can't also believe I actually AM pregnant, even though I've lost my appetite, feel bloated, sore boobs, dizzy spells. I keep having to look at the test again!

Anyway, hoping to settle down emotionally soon, but a trip to the inlaws tomorrow is making me nervous. Don't know why, i get on with them well.

Congratulations to all. It was really nice to read this thread and know how others felt the same I do.

x

MandaHugNKiss · 08/01/2011 19:20

I suppose it's about time I joined you - got my bfp on new years day and edd by lmp is 14th september (although I know I O'd on cd19 as I was charting).

So, this will be dc4 - already have DD15, DS1 13, DS2 9months whom I'm still breastfeeding. Lots. Still through the night too. How this happened the first month we decided to ttc, I don't know... (but realise I'm very lucky indeed).

I was shocked to see the line, mostly because with my other three I just SO knew I was pregnant about a week before I could even test. I had symptoms out the wazoo. This time, nothing. I'd say my appetite is missing in action, but other than that - nada. Can't help worrying that no symptoms at all isn't a good thing... (even though I know plenty of women have no symptoms and healthy pregnancies/outcomes).

Oh, and I'm tired. But that's not unusual at all (see previous re: ever-breastfeeding boob monster)

MandaHugNKiss · 08/01/2011 19:21

Oh, ha, ha, I seem to have forgetten to mention my age.

  1. Will be two months shy of 38 when the baby arrives.

Also, obviously, congrats to all!

BosomForAPillow · 08/01/2011 21:41

Hi, can I join too?

My EDD is around 2nd September and this is my second pregnancey, have dd aged 2.3 so age gap will be a bit under 3 years.

I saw my dr this week for my first appointment and also asked about flu jab - my surgery are not giving it to pregant women until they are 3 months but he couldn't really explain why not. Has anyone else been offered it this early in pregnancy? Thinking of getting it done in Boots/Tesco instead as I'm a teacher and will be exposed to every bug going!

Congratulations to all. I wish I had the "no appetite" sympton. I am feeling sick then starving every hour or so. Trying to stick to oatcakes rather than Toblerone but it's tricky!

feralgirl · 09/01/2011 14:31

Manda; this was our first month ttc as well! It was supposed to just be a trial run ffs Grin

I didn't really want to risk having a late August baby (small for academic year, might have a hard time keeping up etc) but I guess we should have been a bit more patient Blush

Bosom, I'm a teacher as well; haven't we done well to ensure that we spend our last month and a half of being pg on our summer hols? Grin I suppose there are pros and cons to early September babies... What age do you teach? I'm a secondary English teacher.

Those of you on DC 3 or 4; how did your DC1s cope when DC2 came along? The only thing that's bothering me at the moment is how DS will respond (he'll be 2.9 in Sept).

BTW. What does BFP stand for? I've figured out it's your pg test but can't work out the actual words Confused I've been an MNer for two years but the ante-natal abbreviations are all new to me!

Doobydoo · 09/01/2011 20:59

Hi Again.This thread is growingGrin
Congrats and welcome to new people.
My eldest is a boy and he was born 29th August so according to statistics a double whammy. He is 11 now and just started secondary school.
I have to make appt to see midwife for around 20th Jan.Am still in some denial I think. 42!!!!...when baby born.I am due 2nd sept too but will have elcs so prob around 25th August.
Am trying to eat healthily and will swim..well will take ds2 to the poolSmile.
Breasts seem huge but feel it rather early to buy bras.

Doobydoo · 09/01/2011 21:00

Think BFP IS Big Fat Positive.

BosomForAPillow · 09/01/2011 22:16

Hi feralgirl yes I was thinking, must hang on until September and not give birth early so it's not the youngest in year too! But I suppose it's fine either way Doobydoo.

I teach juniors. Last time I had an October baby so stopped teaching in July and had over 2 months off which was fantastic. I hope I can go until end of the term this time too - it actually seems quite daunting to be teaching at 34 weeks but maybe I was just spoilt last time! I only do 2 days now so should be able to manage it.

greedychops · 10/01/2011 11:16

Hi everyone. Another joiner if that's ok. Had a similar experience to Redlaura in that the bfp only showed up after I had thought it definitely wasn't coming.

Have had loads of symptoms right from ov though so I kind of knew I was pg, although didn't want to tempt fate. Had spd a bit with ds2 and my pelvis has been sore at night which it hasn't been since ds2 was born. Bit of a bummer that that might come back so quickly.

Anyway, am 29 and have ds1 aged 3.5, and ds2 aged 1.8. Wasn't sure we definitely wanted three so was dithering a bit, but looks like the decision has been made for us, and I'm very happy about it.

Look forward to getting to know you all.

ursigurke · 10/01/2011 13:25

feralgirl, there is a list of acronyms in the line under "mumsnet talk" on top of the page.

louplet, thanks for the link. I was already wondering why bf was suddenly getting a bit painful or rather unpleasant and I found the answer on that site.

It is nice to see the group growing and how many different stories just about finding out there are already.

Hello all
Can I join please? We got our BFP on New Year's Day and EDD is 9th Sept according to LMP date. It's our first and we only got married on 28th Dec so obv got a bit carried away before that Blush. I'm 29 (30 tomorrow :) ) and hubby is 33 - we're both thrilled but I'm finding these first 12 weeks sooo long and getting myself very worked up and anxious :(

No major symptoms yet, just sore boobs and LOTS of wind and bloating...very uncomfortable and look pregnant already! I know it's the progesterone and uterus growing causing it though...
Seem to finally be off knicker-watch (anyone else familiar with that one?!) but still hyper-aware of every cramp - and lack of sickness!
Congrats to all sept mummies x

Milliebow · 10/01/2011 16:56

Hello. Can I join too? My EDD is 18th and this is our first. Just wondering how to get through my 30th Birthday with friends in a couple of weeks without letting it slip. DH is really keen on keeping quiet till after the 12 week scan.

I'm going to get my flu jab next week. Thought I'd mention it as there seems to be some chat. I have asthma and have it every year as well as having the swine flu one last year. The only reason I haven't had it yet is because my chest keeps playing up and I've either been on steroids or antibiotics. Think it may have all started when I maybe had the flu in Nov though!

Feralgirl-we were a bit shocked too - this is our first month of trying. Still haven't quite got my head around the idea.

MandaHugNKiss · 10/01/2011 16:58

Hope you don't live to rue wishing for sickness, misty! Completely understand the logic, but my goodness, it's utterly crap when(if - I hope you're oneof the 'lucky' ones!) it kicks in properly.

Case in point, when I was pregnant with my first (DD almost 16 now) I was 10st 4lb when I fell pregnant with her. THe day after she was born I was 8st 4lb (and looked like death/skin and bone (I'm 5'7")). Not many women can claim to LOSE TWO STONE whilst pregnant when they started within the healthy range for their height! However, non-stop constant, wearing, draining nausea for the duration - started BEFORE my bfp! - led to that happening. DD was a bouncing 7lb 13oz though; it really is true that your body will give up everything it can to nourish the child.

So for when the morning sickness DOES kick in for us (isn't around six weeks often the key time?) try not to panic too much if you can't face eating much or throwing up whatever goes in. Staying hydrated is the main thing.

I'm still feeling zero in the way of symptoms. Last night DS2 was latching on every 45 mins or so, so I feel absolutely deathly tired. I suspect that's nothing to do with the pregnancy though.

BairnInMyBelly · 10/01/2011 17:22

Hiya- can I join too? Baby due 10th September, hopefully not two weeks late like last time.

Will be 35 by my due date and have 1 little girl (2yo) already. I'm enjoying reading all your stories as it's way to early to talk to any of my friends about it! Feeling fine so far, but I think it was a bit later than this I got sick last time. Bit scared about doing it all again- the last 3 years are a blur!

Congrats everyone!

dipsymumsie · 10/01/2011 17:30

Welcome/hello to everyone!

Misty9 Your knicker watch comment made me laugh - definitely in that zone at the moment! Also very gasey too - the less said about that the better :)

Louplet I'm not quite in your position but my oldest DD will be just 5 and my 2DD will be just 4 so also quite little! The reality of having 3 is beginning to dawn.

To those of you worried about a poss August birthday , both my girls are Summer born and the oldest who has just started school this September seems to be holding her own fine!

Hope everyone having a good day!

greedychops · 10/01/2011 20:33

Am also laughing at all these men who were looking forward to a few practice months before the bfp came, and then being a little disappointed to be successful at the first attempt.

I wonder if there is an optimum number of months of ttc, to give the swi a good run, but before worry kicks in.
