Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Hi Ladies.

Well I've been rubbish rubbish rubbish at posting in here. I'll try and be a little bit better.

Have been signed off work for what would have been the last week, had a little bit of a scare the other day with high BP, some protein, headaches and flashing spots in my eyes, so a trip to the hospital to get checked out. Have/had been feeling rubbish all week. Anyway I was checked over all was fine and BP has come down, almost back to normal with no protein, so possibly just a little blip, but it was worrying.

Am having growth scans every 3 weeks, so it's nice to see the LO in there again. They are pretty sure we are having a girl, so have been able to get a few things sorted out in that respect.

I'm feeling fecking knackered most of the time and a bit fed up that I'm feeling so tired and knackered after doing only a few little things, but I love being pregnant.

Am due 1st Sept, so I'm on the cusp of the group, and hoping that if LO comes early it's not at 23:59 on the 31st Aug for the school year.

I'm not really going to go back through the thread to catch up, I'm very sorry if that seems rude, it's just my brain is not what it was, so I'll try and keep up from now. Had really busy few months recently, now is time to relax, rest and hopefully prepare for the birth and new arrival.

feralgirl · 24/07/2011 15:26

Welcome back 100years, sorry you've had a bit of crappy time but glad you're feeling better.

I have spent the whole day in bed reading today and I feel so much better. Doing as little as poss really is fabulous isn't it? I wish I could have every day like this for the next 6 weeks.

cliqs · 24/07/2011 16:02

Hi everyone,

This is my first post so hope it works!

Having blissful afternoon picking birth music playlist in bed and trying to forget its Monday tomorrow. Due in just under 7 weeks and have asked for maternity leave to start in 6. Is that even realistic or should I push it fwd?
When is everyone else going off?

Misty9 · 24/07/2011 19:09

welcome cliqs - working til 39wks sounds tough to me. I'm finishing at nearly 36 weeks (two weeks - yey!!) and I'm already feeling huge and get tired very easily. Have sooo much to do on my mat leave before he comes, but starting to worry I'll be too knackered to do most of it.

Too knackered to write anything else, in fact Wink
Hope all are enjoyign the lovely weather this weekend

ssmile · 24/07/2011 20:15

Hi clips welcome. You r brave going to 39wks. I tried to go to 38wks with 1st preg but had to stop at 36wks as was just too tired &i had gd pregnancy &healthy plus to be honest I needed the wind down chill out nesting time. This time I leaving at 35wks. Have spent large chunks of this wend lying on the bed.only place I could get comfy plus really felt tired. My Dh been fab &dd vwell behaved even tiptoeing in to get her dolly when she thought I was asleep &tidying up all her toys with no protest :o
Got hospital appt tom bit nervous going to see anesthetis find out if probs I had last time with back may mean general is better than spinal for me. Hope u all had restful weekends.

100years · 24/07/2011 20:39

Thanks feralgirl. Yeah doing nothing for 6 weeks would be ace, the great bonafide excuse to do nothing is good, but I reckon I'll be bored in no time if I actually did nothing at all!

cliqs, wow, working till 39 weeks, if you feel OK and are happy doing so then great, I have known a few people who have worked that far along. Me personally, well I've finished now, my last working day was at 33+4 when I was unwell at work and have now been signed off, I was supposed to be working to 35+1, but was just not up to working anymore and having had a scare with my BP it's better to be able to rest for me.

Misty, my OH is currently in the wash all the clothes mode, I'm sat here feeling like there is no nesting instinct in me yet! Even after the scare the other day I've still not packed or sorted out my hospital bag! Oops. I think I need to look at the list, I have however ordered some dried apricots to go in the bag, and bought a few mini cartons of soya milk, so I've sort of made a start!

ssmile I hope the app at the hosp goes well. I have seen an anaesthetist and all seemed OK for me, but I'd rather not have an epi if I need a c-section, and he's wrote that in my notes, so hopefully I will get a GA if I have to, I just don't like the idea of an epi,but that's a personal thing and if I am screaming in pain come the day I may change my mind, but I'd personally prefer not to.

There is a breastfeeding class at the hospital tomorrow which you can just turn up to, I think I may go along to this if I feel OK. Would be nice to get some advice, really want to BF, and so would like to be armed with loads and loads of info about it. If it's not tomorrow that I go, there is another one in 2 weeks time.

Also had a cot given to us, but don't have the bolts for it, so am currently debating the pros and cons of a bedside cot as opposed to a normal drop side cot, other than the money! Have the moses basket already, but think would like LO to sleep in the cot at night.

loomer · 25/07/2011 13:31

Glad to hear that you're keeping well minky, and managing to slow down - which is so much easier said than done. We had a bit of a shock this w/end as my SIL ended up in hospital having started to dilate - she is only 26 weeks! No apparent reason for it - other than that she is a complete workaholic and runs her own business from home, which means that she ends up working 9-9 most days... anyhow, I had a text from my mum (who's staying up there to look after their DD1) to say that the baby will be born today. Really hope that he is a strong one, at that stage they are still so vunerable.

Meanwhile I'm really looking forward to my last working day this Friday - when I'll be exactly 33 weeks... last time around I worked until I was 37 weeks, and it was fine I had plenty of energy. But this time (with a small person to entertain) am finding my opportunities to rest at home are much fewer, and I get tired much more quickly. Just walking into town and doing a bit of shopping requires a good half an hour with my feet up afterwards (although I do live halfway up a hill!). There's no way I could keep going until 39 weeks!

ssmile · 25/07/2011 20:29

Had a v reassuring chat with anaesthetisis today. Think I happy to proceed with spinal v general for my elec c-sec. My back problem hopefully won't be aggravated by it.
loomer hope ur sil little one is a fighter that's early but they have gd odds these days. I must admit I have been much better in this preg with out the stressful job I had with 1st preg I hoping baby will be more chilled out too :)
Been Bloomin hot ere today even at 3.30pm my DD &i had to retire to sofa for an hr to escape heat of garden where We were under an umbrella& had paddling pool! Needless to say I fell asleep for 20mins again whilst she watched ceebeebies. I think the 4yr age gap has had some advantages she can't wait to look after her baby sister :o

feralgirl · 27/07/2011 20:33

Hi Cliq, I inadvertantly worked up to one week before I gave birth with my DS. It was unintentional and it was only because he was nearly a month early that it happened but, in retrospect, it was pretty horrible and I don't think I would choose to do it again.

I suppose it depends on what job you do; if you're sitting down plenty or maybe working PT, or have the sort of job where you don't bring it all home with you at the end of the day then you might find it's OK. If you've got a sympathetic HR manager then you can always say you're going to work up to 39 weeks and then change your mind if you feel it's too much.

If I was lucky enough to have no pelvic or back pain and a less stressful job then I'd be tempted to go as long as poss too. This said, officially my mat leave starts 2 days before my due date but I'm a teacher so I've just finished for the summer hols and am due on the day that my colleagues all go back to work in September Grin

Anyone else got bloody crippling back pain? And have just started to get shooting pains in my lower pelvis too which is pleasant. I know I need to go swimming to sort it but I still don't seem to have the time as I'm always looking after DS. How on earth do single mothers do this I wonder?

ssmile · 27/07/2011 21:23

My last day at workwork today :o :o got 4wks to 'rest' now. My DH said ooh can you finish painting the bathroom then (i still have DD to look after!) I replied I think you should spend all wend carrying a watermelon &hot water bottle in the baby bjorn carrier &drink no beer for at least a wk &then tell me if you fancy painting the bathroom. Needless to say he looked a little sheepish..... ;-) looking forward to my swim tom. I have vrare luxury of DD in nursery and I havent got to go to work :o

ssmile · 27/07/2011 21:25

feralgirl sorry to hear about your back pain. Does ice help it? Not heat. And can u do any gentle stretches of lower back muscles &hamstrings. When mine get tight n hot makes it more prone to pain.

ssmile · 29/07/2011 17:37

How you all doing in the heat? It SO draining but today been bit cooler & I've really noticed the difference with my energy levels. Are we all organised? I think I'm there bought vcute stripey pink baby outfit this wk, I know baby will mostly live in babygrows to start with but it was so cute I couldn't resist also managed to pick up vcheap in sale cotton summer dress to get through next 4wks.
35wks tom.... how's everyone else doing?

feralgirl · 30/07/2011 19:59

Haha ssmile. I am buying a watermelon for DH tomorrow and chucking out all the lager, maybe then he will have some vague idea of why I am such a miserable bastard atm!

Will give the ice a try this evening, sounds good. I've been doing some stretches which has helped a bit with the back but nothing seems to sort the pelvic pain.

I am sort of organised in that I have all the noob clothes washed and ready but we haven't got a car seat or pushchair yet! And I am still waiting for DH to put some hooks in the ceilings so that I can hang up the baby hammock so that it has somewhere to sleep. And the house is mayhem as we're waiting for our builder to be able to come round and do the carpets. And DH still hasn't gone back up in the loft to find the sling.

So actually, no, I am not organised at all.

ssmile · 30/07/2011 21:38

The annoying thing is they had some watermelons in town & I was too bloody tired to carry it back to the car :o so he got away with it this weekend!

100years · 01/08/2011 14:16

loomed, how is your SIL and the LO?

ssmile, glad the app went well for spinal :) I thought your response to your DH re watermelons was a good one.

feral, sorry to hear you have the bad back pain, it's not nice :(

Was poorly sick yesterday at a restaurant :( Not nice. Not sure if it's hormones coming back again, but given my midwife thinks I'm not actually eating enough generally which was causing me to feel light headed puking my guts up yesterday was not the best thing in the world.

100years · 01/08/2011 14:25

Hey everyone.

I've done a new thread for September due dates, as there are 3 threads that people are posting on. Thought it would be nice to all come together for the last bit of the pregnancy.

I know this thread isn't finished, but here is the new thread

Come and join me. :)

Minkyjj · 04/08/2011 18:58

Hello ladies - well, I have made it to 33 weeks and 1 day so doing well - having to lie down most of the time and do nothing and have been marooned at home for 3 weeks now with two kiddies on school holiday but it seems to be working. Having another scan on tuesday next week at just before 34 weeks so will get another chance to see how he is doing! We now have a cleaner coming once a fortnight, my mum and auntie helping with ironing and my 9 year old has learnt how to make a perfect cuppa and to get breakfast for herself and little brother and lunch too - wish I had had this wake up call sooner and realised that I am not meant to be super human and that the other three members of the family can help a lot more than I have ever asked. You just don't realise until you have no choice that sometimes other people like to be involved - maybe I have been too much of a control freak in the past but times are a changing - 5 weeks and 1 day before my c-section - woohoo. Hope you are all okay ladies.

100years · 05/08/2011 08:19

Hey minky, think most people have moved along to the new thread now, it's much busier there than it was in here. Glad you have some great support there :)

feralgirl · 05/08/2011 20:54

Minky, come and join us! Glad to hear you're doing OK now. I was a bit worried as we'd not heard from you for a while!

ssmile · 06/08/2011 18:52

Well a leak in the roof prompted DH to decide the loft needed sorting out! We did two car loads to the tip, got another load for charity shop &managed to find stand for moses basket &lady bird play mat so vpleased as not seen either for 4yrs! Blooming tired now &he wants to do the other half of the loft tom phew talk about getting sorted with only 3wks till baby due :o
