Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Hi Ladies,

I'm hoping this group isn't too big to add one more! I'm pg w/ dc2, found out on Jan. 4th at my in-laws house. EDD 9/9/11 Currently living in Switzerland, and moving to Brighton March 1st. This was a surprise for us because we had stopped fertility treatment and planned on waiting to start again once we got settled! Excited, but overwhelmed.

Meerkat11 · 19/01/2011 19:45

Hi,
Bit behind the times but glad to hear things looking up for you Misty, and welcome to other newcomers :-). Hope things ok for you belgina.
Yesterday had horrible nauseous day and wondered why on earth people brought themselves to have a second one (and xmasevie- I had the same wanting to feel sick, and now regret it!)! Feeling a lot better today though - not sure whether eating dry biscuits helped or it's just something that will come and go? Any thoughts? Oh, and it's the thought of aubergines that are currently making my stomach turn - bizarre!
Also wondering what people are doing about vitamins etc - is anyone taking vitamin D? The only ones I could find were with calcium, which pharmacist wasn't convincing enough about. Think I'll wait til I speak to mw. Was amused to go into Boots today to continue my search for vitD, only to come out with a box of gu chocs - ooops - they had 75% off though, so couldn't resist! And if I can't drink I might as well have chocs!

yoshi - yes, I am only having 2 mugs of tea a day, also found out green tea contains caffeine, hmmm. Not really fancying any of my other teas at mo anyway, so just about surviving!

Sorry, I'm wittering again!

ursigurke · 19/01/2011 20:57

as I'm really tired, I forgot almost everything I've just been reading, so...

something which seems to help me in the morning, when the thought of food is really unpleasant eventhough I'm hungry: apple juice. one of these directly pressed ones, directly from the fridge and a bit watered down.

I'm currently not drinking any coffee at all. I tried to switch on the machine twice last week and just had to switch it off again. But as far as I know two cups are fine. I have no idea though how much that would be in tea.

I've got my invitation for the booking appointment. I will be 12 weeks by then. Isn't that very late? I guess here in London they wait even longer before seeing you for the first time but when will I then have the first scan? I wanted to wait until then with telling everybody but I'm already starting to show. I don't think I could keep the secret that long.

loomer · 19/01/2011 20:58

Good evening all! And hello new additions Smile

I'm trying to limit myself to three cups of builders tea each day (two cups is just too scary at the moment!), with redbush/roobois as a non-caffeine substitute in between 'fixes'! Thankfully I've not had any nausea yet (didn't have any last time either) but had to rush home and eat lots of salad with VERY vinegary dressing on it tonight, think I might have a vinegar thing coming on too feralgirl.

pookamoo I've noticed that we don't have an EDD for you on the stats thread - do you know it?

Need more info on the vitamin front - at the moment I'm only taking folic acid, but last time I took those Pregnacare tablets which seemed to have an enormously long list of 'stuff' in them... what's the problem with calcium? Or have I got wrong end of stick?

Misty9 · 19/01/2011 21:04

I'm taking Pregnacare - Holland and Barrett had a good deal on it - and it's a recommended one I think.
I was just taking folic acid, but bought "What to Eat when You're Expecting" and it said all pg women should take Vit D as well - it helps the absorption apparently? Nothing wrong with calcium as far as I know.
The two you do have to watch out for are Vit A (too much is not good for developing baby) and Iron - but blood tests will identify anaemic mums and might be suggested in that case.

Had first mw appt today, she was so lovely and put me completely at ease. I won't see her again now until 16wks appt - 9 weeks away! Seems like ages...
Feeling like a pin cushion as had bloods taken and also flu jab - not sure which aches more!

Still no morning sickness or particular tiredness...but it could descend yet.
Hope all are ok :)

Misty9 · 19/01/2011 21:05

btw - I recommend that book I mentioned as it has an A-Z of foods and what's safe or not :)

ssmile · 19/01/2011 21:07

yep me too had vinegar salad when I got in from work. Was fancying full on carb overload fish n chips but they were not open so had pasta and salad instead which was better I suppose. Cant stop eating which is bit scary. First preg lost nearly stone in first 12wks as sick, this time around vglad to not feel too sick but have to eat constantly to stave it off. Do not want to be the size of a bus but cant seem to help myself.

Also SO tired post 3pm could have curled up at work underdesk and nodded off today ;)

greedychops · 19/01/2011 21:12

Pokamoo - I'm the same - can never keep up with these things but hopefully will keep the gist of what's going on.

No sure about calcium - I'm just taking a pregnancy vitamin thing that has folic acid as it seemed like a good idea.

No nausea here at all yet. Can't complain, but there is something a little comforting about retching over the toilet bowl every so often.

Hi host anD rsm1 - and any other newbies I've missed.

Need to finish some work now - only problem with working from home is you are never really away from the office. After this week I should be able to spend a bit longer catching up.

I love hearing peoples stories about telling family and friends. Still haven't decided whether to tell pil at the weekend. No idea how I will hide no alcohol otherwise as we are staying for three nights.

belgina · 19/01/2011 22:09

meerkat Thank you for asking. I'm OK at the moment. But sort of trying to think of myself as not pregnant yet I suppose to cushion myself for any bad news a 2nd scan might bring. Tonight I've definitely got tingly boobs, but the nausea was less today.

misty Brace yourself for when you hit 6 weeks. That's usually when the sickness kicks in good and well.

vitamins I'm sticking to folic acid and Spatone (iron) As pregnacare and the like always make my sickness much worse. It's most definitely the iron that's causing it. I tend to start on pregnacare once the sickness has worn off completely. All my 3 dcs are perfectly healthy and I'm convinced that the people benefitting the most of multivitamins are the companies making them Wink

tea I'm trying to stick to 2 cups too, but when I'm at work that's very very hard. I lived on Redbush in my last pregnancy and still love the stuff.

I've not told anyone yet, except for DH of course. Normally my mum is the first to know (after DH), but this time around I'm too scared to tell her, lol. She'll have a heart attack when I tell her dc4 is OTW.

lxr1 · 20/01/2011 06:34

Well, looks like "morning" sickness has arrived with a vengence...

On reaching 6 weeks yesterday, I felt sick at lunchtime, so could only manage crackers and hummous (just), felt sick going to bed, and have got up this morning and on the verge of actually being sick (dry retching constantly - sorry TMI!)

Supposed to be in the office today, but can't face the 2+ hour drive. Think work may find out I'm pg earlier than planned if this continues....

Thankfully I only have to go to the office 1-2 times a week.

PS I take pregnacare too. Do you think it's something we could get free on prescription?

yoshimigalloway · 20/01/2011 09:46

Good Morning everyone,

I feel very very tired today. I'm 5 weeks today and apart from the tiredness I don't feel pregnant at all, have I made it all up?!

How did everyone else feel at 5 weeks?

Milliebow · 20/01/2011 09:47

Well I haven't been around for a while too busy with work. I've taken a days a/l today just to sleep! I could stay in bed all day.

I'm taking folic acid and vit d (12.5mcg) from boots. Vit d is a newish thing as far as I can tell. If you are low income in our area you get it free.

I'm now 5+4 and feel sick most of the day. No cramps or spotting though. My heart goes out to all of you who have had worries already. I do have to confess to poas though - sometimes I still can't believe I'm pg.

Got an appt with mw on 3/2. Just sick of nausea for now. Ginger beer is my best friend.

alibaba1980 · 20/01/2011 10:20

I?m struggling with reducing my tea intake as well as I?m addicted to the stuff! I?ve gone onto Redbush tea at work which has caused some suspicion! I?m on about 4 cups a day, is that too much even if its caffeine free?

I?m only taking folic acid tablets as prescribed by the Dr last week. Apparently I should have been taking them for 3 months prior to TTC ? opps! I was told that it wasn?t worth taking any other vitamins that you can get from Boots etc, just maintain a healthy diet.

Yoshi I?m still not having morning sickness despite being 5 weeks. I feel I?m missing out! I am getting really tired by about 3pm though and I?m suffering from really bad back ache which comes on mid afternoon and lasts until I lie down at night. Is this normal?

I spoke to my midwife yesterday who seems really nice but doesn?t want to see me for another few weeks :(

hazelnutlatte · 20/01/2011 10:33

Belgina - I'm also scared about telling my mum - thankfully I can put it off for a few weeks yet as she lives hundreds of miles away from me. God knows why I'm scared, I'm 29 not a teenager! But I know she won't be expecting this news at all, as she thinks we should get married first.
On another note, I have just drank a cup of coffee and now feel a bit sick - am actually feeling excited that this could be my first experience of morning sickness - how incredibly sad am I!

belgina · 20/01/2011 13:20

hazelnut my mum lives many miles away too, as in across the Chanel, so it's pretty easy to keep it hidden Wink

But I'm afraid that i've now started bleeding, AF would have been due today, so I think this might be it for me, especially after Monday's scan. It's heavier than what I've ever had in a pregnancy and there were a few small clots. I was told to keep my scan appt even if I bled, to confirm a misscarriage and to make sure everything is gone. :(

Hope everyone else is ok.

redlaura · 20/01/2011 16:52

Oh Belgina. This is terrible news and I'm so sorry for what you're going through.

There's not much to say to console someone going through this so i won't even try. Just know that we're all feeling for you at the moment.

xxx

RL

MrsSawyer · 20/01/2011 16:58

Belgina, i second redlaura x

I bought some pregnacare from ebay, 90 tabs for £5.99, cheaper than any supermarket! Had my MW appt yesterday at 7+3 and im going for my first round of bloods next wed, where they also do your height, weight and bmi - that wont be good Blush but she said i can do aquanatal which im quite excited about and a free dietician service - bargain! :)

nwlondongirl · 20/01/2011 17:09

Hi everyone
Looks like I'm late to join the party but hope it's okay. I got the BFP last week, EDD 12 Sept.
This is my first PG. We've only been trying for a month so wasn't really expecting it. So far I still can't believe it as my body doesn't really feel much different.
Went to the GP today and got me worried about what to eat. I have a family history of high cholestrol, so today GP gave me yet another lecture on healthier diet and exercise, but I'm already near vegetarian so nothing I could do. Plus not sure if now is the time to start new diet and exercise routine Hmm.

Anyway just thought I introduce myself

greedychops · 20/01/2011 17:52

Really sorry to hear that belgina. Hope you have people around you to give you some tlc for a bit.

Hi nwlondongirl - I expect people will be joining right up till September so you're not late at all.

Mrssawyer - I'd love to do aqua natal but there are mo clases round here. Took ds2 for his swimming class today though and really enjoyed bobbing around so will need to make a proper swim a regular thing. I usually run but got a bit of spd last pg, so not sure if it will come back.

So pil for the weekend. Any suggestions on how to avoid telling them? Thinking it will have to be dh making gin and tonics without the gin for me, and then losing my wine in various places (including into dh).

Loads of maternity stuff on sale when I was shopping today, but didn't want to tempt fate by buying anything.

Xmasevie · 20/01/2011 19:55

Belgina - I am so sorry. I had the same experience last may and I'm so scared it's going to happen to me again. Ask them to take your bloods over a few days, this will confirm what's happening. They scanned me but ad it was such an early mc it was inconclusive. Thinking of you, big hugs xx

ursigurke · 20/01/2011 20:00

Belgina, I am so sorry to hear that. I hope you'll get all the support you will need to get through this difficult time.

Louplet · 20/01/2011 20:06

Belgina thinking of you and so sorry for what you are going through xx

OP posts:
redlaura · 20/01/2011 20:52

greedchops what are the reasons behind not telling them? Are you just keeping it between the two of you?

I'm 7+5 and have told quite a few people. Those that I trust. It's a totally personal thing and I'm RUBBISH at keeping something this big tk myself. The way I see it for me is that if something bad happens then the people I've told will be there to give me a hug.

I got the date of my scan through today. 25 feb. Feel properly pregnant now

belgina · 20/01/2011 20:56

Thanks everyone. The bleeding has eased now. My period type pains have stopped. I'm now taking it easy, though it'll be hard to put my feet up as we're moving house tomorrow. Just the worst timing ever. I've informed work and they immediately took me of my night shifts this weekend.

belgina · 20/01/2011 21:00

Redlaura, just want to say that's how I viewed it. This time around I'm just a bit worried about people's reaction to me expecting dc4. After all, 4dcs isn't the norm nowadays :o
