Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

One note of caution re: sex in late pregnancy. If you are susceptible this can bring on early labour.

DS1 was born at 37+1 after my waters broke the morning after the night before Blush. We never quite caught up those last few weeks we thought we still had to get stuff done.

With DS2 we avoided sex during the last 4 weeks or so. I then went overdue and we decided to give nature a hand. Bingo, once again the day after the night before I went into labour and DS2 was born at 40+3.

It may of course be coincidence but I fully intend to abstain for the last few weeks this time too just in case...

Dragging dragging dragging... anyone else totally knackered too? The very last thing on my mind right now is sex so I commend any of you girls who are even contemplating it. I hope I get my mojo back soon.

Comment of the week from my mum: "don't you think you ought to try and lose a little weight now before the baby starts to show". Really what is she on?

Keep healthy all!

greedychops · 13/01/2011 21:32

Ah mums always know how to make you feel good redlaura.

Had a very small amount of brown bleeding last night and today but really very small amount. Did a wee bit of reading online and a lot of things seem to say you should speak to your midwife about any bleeding, but I haven't even contacted them yet for a first appointment.

Not sure whether to just wait and see what happens, or give them a ring tomorrow. Any thoughts? Did another pg test today just to see and it was positive but I know that doesn't necessarily mean much.

belgina · 13/01/2011 22:25

Hi everyone, thought I'd take the plunge and join this thread.

I'm Belgina, had a BFP on Sunday, to my great big surprise, as although we were TTC, I had actually had a period 2 weeks before, albeit lighter than usual. So according to my calculations I am now 7 weeks and am due on 1 September. Another reason I was surprised was that after I had my coil removed I only had sex once before my "period", so that truly was 1st time lucky. DH now very proud of himself Grin You might wonder why on earth I took a test so shortly after AF, well I had a cheese and onion crisp and it tasted really odd, just like when I was pg before.
This will be dc4. I've got a DS(9), DD1(7), DD2(20m). Just like mandahugNKiss I've always felt pregnant before the test, but this time I did not. However I have tiredness and slight nausea (much better than with the previous 2) I'm also still bf and bf ds during dd1's pregnancy. He self weaned when I was 16 weeks. For those who are still bf. Also check out the Kellymum website Also great for information in 9 months time Wink

My sympathies to those of you who are worried about spotting. I've had bleeding at some point or another with all my pregnancies. At the moment I've got this brown loss and I'm going to see my GP tomorrow to hopefully get an EPAU referal just to make sure everything is OK.

I can't quite remember everyone's name, but hope you're all OK. Looking forward to getting to know you all. I have many fond memories of my "old" A/N group and hope to get the same sort of support again this time around :)

belgina · 13/01/2011 22:30

redlaura Your mum sounds like mine, lol. She's always commenting on my weight (me size 10, she size 22!)

sex It shouldn't be harmful, but if you've got a history of miscarriages and bleeding I'd stay away from it for a while until the pregnancy is a bit further along. louplet I'm a touch suprised at you avoiding sex at the end of pregnancy! Surely you want to get the baby to come. There's no evidence btw of sex bringing on early labour, it will only bring on labour at the end and from 37 weeks onwards baby is ready to come, so not early at all :)

Misty9 · 14/01/2011 08:40

greedychops I had something similar and hadn't had appt with midwife yet, but called and spoke with duty GP who was very helpful. I think to put your mind at rest give your GP a call (or midwife if you have a number?). Can't remember how far along you are, but if you're less than 6 weeks (I was) they won't scan for a bit so there's no real confirmation of anything until they can..

Hope you're ok, it's really scary and worrying I know xx

redlaura · 14/01/2011 09:40

Greedychops... I agree you should speak to someone if you're worried if only to put your mind at rest.

I've got my first booking in appointment today. The only thing I'm worried about is a slightly weird sensation in my lower right abdomen but there is much going on down there there are bound to be funny sensations.

We're househunting at the moment too as we will be in desperate need of more room soon. That's taking my mind off stuff.

Welcome aboard belgina!!!

greedychops · 14/01/2011 10:47

Thanks for advice. Haven't had any more since yesterday so I am just going to wait and see what happens I think.

I will make my booking in appointment and mention it to the midwife then. Also going to poas again in a few more days time, and hope to see a darker line appearing more quickly. As you say, they wouldnt scan for a bit anyway.

Hi belgina - I have a 20 month old too - wonder if we were on the same other antenatal thread (I've name changed cause I don't want rl people to know about pg yet) but I think I recognise your name.

ursigurke · 14/01/2011 17:48

Welcome to all the newbies!

breastfeeding, how are you who are breastfeeding feeling? I have really sore nipples and it doesn't help that DD all of a sudden wants feeding more often and especially much longer. She used to be really quick and now it takes 45 min. Not fun. But I guess the nipples will just get used to it as they got used to it initially. I don't want to complain, she has had a terrible cold and that's why we are where we are. I'm sure in a couple of days things will be easier again.

belgina · 14/01/2011 18:17

greedychops. I only became belgina postnatally. I was something else before, but it was similar. I was on the due in may 09 thread :) If you do know me then you will know something about me i'd like to keep quiet for a bit. Glad the spotting stopped, take it easy (as far as you can with a 20 month old ;)

I've seen my gp and he has referred me to epac for a scan on Monday morning. I'm looking forward to it as it'll bring piece of mind with regards to my dates etc...whatever the result really. I hate this current uncertainty. Actually I hate early pregnancy, who was it again who said this?: it drags!!!

Hope everyone is well and not feeling too queezy/tired :)

belgina · 14/01/2011 18:22

breastfeeding here it's not too bad. Just sore nipples. I put it down to dd2 bf more since Xmas and in fact it's better now i'm trying to reduce again. I'm offering a drink and a snack first and that seems to work most of the time, but sometimes she still wants to bf after the snack/drink Hmm

Louplet · 14/01/2011 22:07

breastfeeding no problems here so far (touch wood). I think not surprisingly it is making me feel hungrier though Smile.

belgina Congratulations! Re: sex - I know DS1 was technically not premature as anything over 37 weeks is ok but he had bad jaundice possibly contributed to by his early arrival and we had a fairly traumatic time being in hospital for around 10 days post birth and all in all if there was any at all chance the two were related I didn't want to risk it with DS2 (or current bump). Might be completely unnecessary but it made both me and DH feel better and certainly there were no health issues with DS2 and he has been a much happier and more settled baby.

Hi there! Just found this thread and would like to join you.
After 2 years of "sort of" trying, I did my first test last sat and it was a BFP! This will be my first and am really happy (DH is too!).

My EDD is 14th sept (give or take a couple of days!).

Just started new job last week, so it looks like I conceived within a couple of weeks of handing my notice in! I'm now wondering if the stress of the old place was the cause of me not getting pregnant earlier?

Main symptom has been tender boobs, but also have had felt a little nauseous at times and the last couple of days have been having mild cramping style pains.
Spoke to GP, who put me in contact with MW. She doesn't want to see me before 8/9 weeks. Only just over 5wks now, feels like an age away!

I'm 35 at the mo, and will be 36 in Sept.

feralgirl · 15/01/2011 19:36

R.e. sex and pregnancy; during pg no.1 I was insatiable Blush I think if I hadn't pounced on DH every night when he got home from work then I'd have exploded or something (is that normal BTW?!)

That said, DS was nearly a month early but the full-on randiness had died off by then!

greedychops · 15/01/2011 21:14

Belgina - I was on due in April 09 so must have just seen your name somewhere else - your secret is safe!

Welcome to lxr1 - great news about your bfp. You must be so pleased after 2 years.

Feralgirl - I'll need to make sure my dh doesnt read that or he will be hoping I'm the same. Did try sex for bringing on labour with both pgs but don't think it worked either time - 6 and 9 days over.

Anyone else feeling very emotional? Have beenin tears so many times today - reading mn threads, watching the Devil wears prada ffs.

Meerkat11 · 15/01/2011 21:39

Hello! I've finally got round to joining you, after a bit of lurking :-).
This is our first baby, so all very scary and exciting- getting reassurance from all of you since we all seem to be having similar feelings and symptoms! I still can't believe it's actually going to (hopefully) happen. Currently experiencing sore boobs (and larger than my v small usual, slight bonus!) the occasional, but getting more frequent, queasiness, and hunger, and tiredness!
I'm due on 11th sept ish, and so 6 wks tomorrow!
I'm also glad it's not just me who finds it all dragging and looking forward to the scan... Got 1st mw appt a week on Monday

Think that's enough from me! Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing this whole thing :)

redlaura · 16/01/2011 09:04

Our first baby too! Hats of to those of you doing all this with other kids in tow!!!

Definitely emotional greedychops! Cried at Toy Story 3!!!

I seem to be going for the world decorator the biggest spot!!! Sore! But thankfully my hair just about hides it. When do we start to bloom ffs ???

redlaura · 16/01/2011 09:05

That should read world record... Did I mention my brain's going too?

Saffra · 16/01/2011 12:44

Can I join in with you lovely ladies?

Thrilled that I got a BFP yesterday, and confirmed again by taking another test today (the Clear Blue digital one)....

Having had a ruptured ectopic pg previously, I am making a doctor's appt ASAP to be referred to the early pg unit.

Don't think I can allow myself to get too excited until I know it's in the right place.

ARRGH!

A big congratulations to you all.

Saffra · 16/01/2011 12:46

Oh, will be our first too, and this was our third month of trying 'properly' this time around. (There was a gap between being pg last time and now of nearly 2 years)....

Xmasevie · 16/01/2011 18:45

Nice to see more sep mummies to be on this thread. Today I'm kind of scared cos ive had lower abdominal pains / anyone else had this? Also I'm so tired but awake from 4am most mornings, and cant sleep!! Just downloaded an excellent iPhone app called sprout, you can see what baby looks like 3d at each week. Kind of amazing. Boobs are soooooooo sore, when I've been lying down and I stand up to walk the pain is really sore, but am not complaining as long as this little sprout stays where it is, that's all I care about. Hope you're all well xx

lxr1 · 16/01/2011 18:56

"xmasevie" - I think the abdominal pains could be down to things stretching etc. I've been reading it's quite common to have cramping type pains. But I guess you should keep an eye on it.

I'm exhausted too. And have been waking up at silly o'clock wide awake! I've had siestas both yesterday and today. No chance of that tomorrow as I'll be in the office!

greedychops · 17/01/2011 07:48

Morning all.

Xmaseveie - I've had vague abdominal pains on and off but agree with Lxr1 - most likely to be stretching etc.

I don't know about anyone else, but I sometimes forget just how much of the important stuff is happening just now with the baby - eg all the organs forming, everything getting into the right place etc and by the time we are showing dramatically it's really only got growing to do. Just really amazing what's going on inside us all just now.

Anyway on with the day.

MrsSawyer · 17/01/2011 10:55

Hi all, im on the other thread in pregnancy, sept baby bus.

Im 29, will be 30 on sept 22nd and DC2 is due on or oaround the 14th - yippee. My main symptom is extremely tired and just yeaterday and today, ive started feeling a bit queasy.

I agree with the poster who hates the first trimester, cant wait for week 13.

hope everyone is happy and healthy.

MrsSawyer · 17/01/2011 10:56
