Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

MandahugNKiss - I'm sure I will rue the comment about sickness! saying that, I've been feeling so bloated all day and have been burping a lot, almost like acid reflux Confused

I've started a blog about all this in an attempt to relieve my anxiety/give it an outlet - it'll also be interesting to read back on the early days and how I felt when I'm further along.

One Born Every Minute is on soon - anyone else watching with mixed feelings?! I loved it when I wasn't preggers, so will be interesting to see how it makes me feel now... :-)

Xmasevie · 10/01/2011 21:03

Hello - this forum is such a great relief!! To be able to communicate with other ladies due the same time! Congrats to everyone. We found out last tues 4 jan and I think am due 16 sep based on 35 day cycle which means that Santa did come on Xmas eve! I'm so excited but very scared. I think I'm just 4 weeks 3 days as I used a clearblue. I suffered a mc last may and so every time I go to the loo I'm knickers checking! Symptoms are extremely sore boobs, light back cramps from time to time, tiredness. No sickness yet!
After trying to get pregnant for 18 months I'm over the moon but keeping this one a secret until I feel confident to tell people. Terrified of mc again but as someone else said here 3 in 4 don't - so more chances of success! Positive test result, positive attitude! Happy new year september mummies to be!! Xx

BosomForAPillow · 10/01/2011 22:35

Misty Did you watch One Born Every Minute? I couldn't bring myself to! I cried every episode of last series when not pregnant and vowed I must never watch it pg. I think it's best not to think about the birth until you have to...

greedychops · 11/01/2011 08:08

I watched obem - love it. Brought back some memories but good ones of the babies arriving rather than labour ones.

Trying to remember when the nausea kicked in last time. Only 4 weeks just now so think it was more like 6.

Sould we start a stats list on a different thread or has someone already done it? If not I could give it a shot? I'll have a look.

greedychops · 11/01/2011 08:22

Have started a stats thread but the boys have started fighting, so hopefully you can all add more info about yourselves, and those I didn't get to can put themselves on. Sorry I didn't finish it.

Misty9 · 11/01/2011 13:50

Hiya

Yes, I did watch OBEM - and nearly made me cry! It felt weird watching it as a pregnant woman, whereas last year it was all a bit more removed IYKWIM.

I hope you ladies can help - this afternoon when I went to the loo there was light pink (very watery) blood when I wiped....none on my pantliner (just some discharge) and none in the loo. I'm really worried now - and today was the first day I'd managed to convince myself the poppy seed might be here to stay :(

Not sure if I'm cramping as had really bad bloating and trapped wind for the last few days, which is a very similar pain.. Confused

I'm 5+4 by the way, and due to see mw for booking in appt next weds (haven't seen any other health prof yet).

Oh, and today is my 30th birthday...great present :(

Any advice/reassurance?

slowshow · 11/01/2011 15:41

Happy birthday Misty! I was 30 in October.

Try not to worry too much. The fact it was light pink is reassuring. I had some light brown discharge last week (at 4 weeks exactly) and I went to pieces, so I know how incredibly scary it is.

redlaura · 11/01/2011 18:08

Happy birthday misty. I'm sure it is fine but if you are worried or it continues you can always call nhs direct for advice. take care of yourself.

To everyone else... I'm about 6/7 weeks (based on some very rough guesses) and the nausea has just started. Not sick but feel queasy all day long. I'm really hoping it is just a short phase. Falling asleep on the train too!

Does anybody have tips for the following: I'm knackered all day but the minute I get into bed I feel like I've been given an adrenalin shot. Restless mind and body, random stressful thoughts about all sorts, and I just lie there trying to slow my mind down! Every third night I'm so knackered that I sleep through

greedychops · 11/01/2011 18:14

I know it's obvious Redlaura but have you tried going to bed earlier than normal? I have the same sometimes where I'm really tired until about 8pm and then wide awake. Going to bed at 7.30 worked for me last pg.

Or try a banana before bed. Potassium is meant to aid sleep apparently.

Got a family do this weekend. Happy to tell my sister but didn't want to tell the rest just yet, so will need to come up with a convincing story ( or get dh to drink my drinks).

Louplet · 11/01/2011 20:00

Congrats to all the new posters! So exciting to see all the new posts Smile

Misty Try not to worry (easy to say I know). Light spotting is very common in early pregnancy, particularly around time your period would have been due and is NOT necessarily a sign that anything is wrong. Some women, including my SIL spot all the way through pregnancy. It is quite normal, particularly as light brown rather than red (so not fresh). If you go to see your GP they may be able to send you for a scan to put your mind at rest.Take care[big hug emoticon]

Mandahugankiss Looks like we are in a similar position Smile. Clearly breastfeeding does not have a contraceptive effect on either of us. This was my quickest ever conception and we weren't even trying! Period came back 30 November, BFP 30 December! I guess having had 2 already my body just went ah! this is what I need to do now...

feralgirl Not really advice but this has been our experience so far. DS1 was 3 yrs 4mths when DS2 (now nearly 8 mths) arrived and has been fine with him other than expressing dissatisfaction because he wanted a sister! (he hasn't stopped nagging for "a girl baby" since! maybe this time Wink). We prepared the way a bit by starting to point out ladies with babies in their tummies and newborn babies and told him the news once I became big enough for it to be obvious. We got some useful books to read him (which quickly became favourites). Links below. We also laid on thick how important he was going to be and how special it was to be a big brother and how he would be able to help teach the baby how to do things properly. I also got him to talk to the baby regularly, just to say goodnight and stuff like that. When DS2 was born we got DS1 a present from him (which we gave him when we got back from hospital and and made sure we gave him lots of attention on our return) and also got DS1 to choose a soft toy present for him to give to the baby. Other than that it has been an ongoing balancing act, making sure he gets special time with me and with DH (eg his book at bedtime), emphasising his important role as big brother, that they both need to share me and that I love them both the same, stuff like that. He loves DS2 to bits and DS2 clearly loves him. The only issues so far are more with jealousy of our time and wanting to play with DS2's toys but not share his. Seems generally ok though so long may it continue Smile.

Try not to worry misty :-) both my sisters had spotting and are fine. Thinking of you. I'm so paranoid every time I go to the loo. I hate going!
I watched obem and cried, I couldn't watch it when I was trying to conceive, it just depressed me, but now I can watch it with new found hope ;-)
Another day goes past and little seed is still in :-)
Can I ask you ladies whether you continue to have sex - I am paranoid about this too having already had a mc so I'm thinking better to abstain!?

redlaura · 11/01/2011 21:10

Thanks greedychops and louplet. Sill give those a go. In fact think I'll turn in while d is watching the footie.

Louplet · 11/01/2011 21:39

Xmasevie you might find this link helpful. In a normal pregnancy sex should be fine.

Thanks for the words of reassurance all - I've tried to enjoy my birthday despite this!

Duty GP was great and called me in to give urine sample. Came back with protein and blood in it, so may be UTI. Gave me antibiotics and basically said wait and hope. Too early for scan, but they'll get me in for one in couple of weeks if anymore bleeding.
As the evening's gone on, it does feel more like cystitis - which I had a lot when I was younger due to not drinking enough. I've been drinking like a fish since pregnant (in comparison to normal) but am praying it is cystitis...

All I can do is keep my fingers crossed - back on knicker watch though Wink
Off to bed now, sleep well all x

slowshow · 12/01/2011 09:25

I bet you've never been so pleased to have cystitis Misty! It does sound a lot like it.

Well I'm five weeks today. God, time is dragging. I'm really tempted to have a private viability scan at 7-8 weeks, because there's no way I'm going to be able to wait until 12 weeks to know everything is ok.

MandaHugNKiss · 12/01/2011 10:53

My fingers are crossed for you misty (all of us, actually!) but it sounds like things are ok Smile

I know exactly what you mean slowshow - there's a babybond really close to me and it's only £99 for the viability scan... THat said, I think it's just the case that it's near and I can have it if I want that makes me stronger and NOT gave it; I was going to have the 4d last time (as they didn't exist when I had my first two) but something stopped me in the end (and itwasn't the cost). Not sure. Human nature is odd.

dipsymumsie · 12/01/2011 12:54

Glad to hear misty that things seem to be ok - fingers crossed.

slowshow and mandahugnkiss I am so with you on the time dragging. I had to have an early scan with both my other children because i had some bleeding. While it was horrid to have the bleeding the benefit was i got to see they were both ok about 9 weeks. Am very tempted too to get a private scan done - i am not even 5 weeks and going mad! I think because I tested very early (4days before my period due I got a positive) I feel like i've been pregnant for ages!

slowshow · 12/01/2011 12:56

Aw crap, I've just checked and it turns out I'm 4+6 not 5 weeks Grin

dipsymumsie I tested at 3+4! Can't believe I've only known about this pregnancy for ten days. Like you, it feels like forever because it's on my mind constantly.

Misty9 · 12/01/2011 14:23

hi ladies

Thanks for the kind words; I started the meds last night, then when I woke up felt a bit sick - I've never been so pleased to feel nauseous!!
Just hope it's poppy seed causing it...

I know what you all mean about the time dragging...I'll be 6 weeks on Friday and can't wait to get to then... The docs said I can have an early scan - which will def do if the symptoms come back - but if all ok, I'm not sure whether to do it? I've heard you can't really see much at all before 10 weeks so wonder if it's better to wait til then?

dipsymumsie could you see much at your 9 week scans??

I'm also not sure about the 4D scans...they look a little freaky in the pics I've seen. Has everyone had their flu jab too? The doc receptionist mentioned I'd have to last night...I think it's safer than last year's single swine flu vaccine??

Hope all are feeling well - we need to find something absorbing to do to take our minds off the time! Something other than forum-ing that is.... :)

dipsymumsie · 12/01/2011 17:11

HI misty9
With dd2 I had a scan at 6 weeks as well as at 9 and no you really can't see much but they can detect a heart beating (which i don't think they can before 6 weeks hence why they don't scan earlier) and that is incredibly reassuring. It looks much more baby like at 9 weeks but again the main reassurance is that they can pick up a heart beat. Sorry not to give more information - it all feels a long time ago (3 and half years) and at the time I think I was just focussed on the heart beat and that my baby was till viable!

Yes - def need to find a distraction! Shopping would be my usual but I am on strict rationing from DH who is still in shock at the prospect of another baby!:)

greedychops · 12/01/2011 19:11

I think being on mn does make the waiting seem longer though (not that I'm complaining cause I'm as addicted as the rest of you) but cause you are hearing about people having babies every day so it seems like an age till out turn comes round. But if it seems long now, just wait till we are 9 days overdue and heading for inductions Grin.

Glad to hear things seem to be fine Misty. Fingers crossed the meds do the trick.

Xmasevie · 12/01/2011 19:50

Glad to hear you ok misty, fingers crosses for you. I'm with you all on time dragging I wish it would hurry up. Only known for 7days feels like seven weeks. I've been doing digital tests once a week to see that my hormones are coming up. Tonight I have a little pain in my right lower abdomen so I'm paranoid about that now. I spoke to a midwife yest about the sex thing: she said it's fine but if you're previous mcs are cos of the cervix then sex not advised therefore as I've mced in the past not doing it! Sorry hubby! Let's hope we all get to 12 weeks - I've enquirer about private scans too :-)
