Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Lots of good vibes to redlaura and misty - completely and utterly normal to be anxious before a scan but as you say, red it's such a small percentage of women that get bad news that we're bound to be fine.

Looking forward to hearing good news from you guys later - and seeing snaps if you put them on your profile Grin

NT = nuchal translucency. This is the test where they check the thickness of the fluid at the back of the baby's neck.

redlaura · 25/02/2011 18:23

Ladies, what a day. Can't believe I saw my baby for the first time, and it's little heartbeat. Saw an ear, a nose, hands and feet! Magical.

Have to wait to find out the results of the NT and so I won't completely relax until I get those but I do at least now really properly believe I'm pregnant.

Any news Misty?

xxx

slowshow · 25/02/2011 19:14

Amazing news redlaura! I have my scan this coming Thursday.

How long will you have to wait for you NT results?

redlaura · 25/02/2011 19:43

Two weeks unless there's something high risk. Then they'd call. The baby is on the small side at the moment... Bottom five percent but as I understand it they all have growthspurts at different times... Right?

Misty9 · 25/02/2011 22:24

hi all!!

good to hear it went well redlaura :)

Ours was amazing too - poppyseed was wriggling around in there so much that the (grumpy) sonographer told me to empty my bladder (didn't feel full!) and jump up and down a bit. Seemed to calm poppyseed then it lay still on its back for the measurements :)
NT was 1.8mm - normal range - so hopefully bloods will be low risk too. It was surreal to think that is in my belly!!
Got put forward as baby is a big 'un; new date is 5th Sept so that means I start 2nd tri on Monday! Woohoo!

We went straight out and put a deposit on a pushchair (I think OH just wanted it over and done with) and bought some little vest tops. Pastel stripes only as we're not going to find out the sex.

So exciting!

Hope all other sept mummies are doing well
xx

ssmile · 26/02/2011 09:30

Oh misty9 and redlaura you bought tears to my eyes very glad all ok for you both. I having a soppie morning, got my scan on the 28th Monday. This is my 2nd and I just seem to be so much more aware this time of the things that could go wrong. Feeling v preg though bump is seriously making itself known this week, trousers expanding big time by the end of the day. My boss asked me THREE times this week "planning on having any more kids r we?" I refuse to tell them until I have all clear from the scan.

We off to USA on Saturday so I need a "fit" to travel for the travel insurance (anyone who has been following southsearocks thread on other talk will understand). Cant get excited about the trip until I know the bloods and scan are all ok.

Hope everyone elses scan are good news too.

ursigurke · 26/02/2011 19:18

Great to hear about those scans!
I only had my booking in which was rather boring as it was only answering the same questions than two years ago. And obviously blood tests.
I got a date for a scan though which will be on wednesday when I will be exactly 13 weeks.

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely and relaxed weekend with not too many symptoms.

Louplet · 26/02/2011 20:54

Had our first scan this week. All well which is a huge relief. Always so lovely and very moving to see that first scan Smile.

Nausea seems to have gone for me now thankfully. Still tired and hungry and also waking VERY frequently in the night to visit the loo which is driving me crackers. Fingers crossed this seems to be getting a bit better over the last couple of days though.

Love to all and hoping you all enjoy your scans.

Glad to hear all the scans went well - must be so exciting and a relief! I'm in your camp redlaura- got it into my head that it might not be good news, despite stats etc. Distinct lack of symptoms doesn't really help! Hopefully all will be well when I finally have the scan tomorrow and can finally accept we're really going to have a baby! Looking forward to hearing everyone else's results from their scans tomorrow too :-).

feralgirl · 27/02/2011 14:29

Oooh, lots of lovely scans done already. I CAN NOT wait until mine tomorrow and then we can all compare.

I am having horrors about twins though; no reason to expect them, just had one of those dreams.

Last time I dreamt I gave birth to a cat and DS is definitely not a cat so I have absolutley no reason to get superstitious.

greedychops · 27/02/2011 17:52

Great news about scans so far and good luck to those who have them tomorrow. Still waiting for a date here but going into the nervous camp as symptoms seem to have calmed right down (apart from really sore nipples).

Don't know if any of the rest of you are getting this but sometimes if I turn over in bed or sit in a certain way, I can feel something down there, like if I turn over, it feels like the uterus moves. Don't know if that is possible or just in my imagination but it's happened quite a few times now.

Went for a cycle today with dh running and the two boys in the bike trailer. It was soooo good to be out and doing some exercise. Going to have to do it more that the weather seems to be getting better.

greedychops · 27/02/2011 17:55

Oh and I had the twin dream too feralgirl. It went the same way as a dream before ds2 arrived. I was put under general anaesthetic before giving birth and didn't wake up for several days, and by then dh had named him Alasdair. Sorry if any of you like the name, but I just am not a huge fan so was really upset that dh had done that.

Made my mum promise before I went into labour that if it happened, she would stop dh from naming him until I woke up ( within reason).

Dreamt a few nights ago that we were having twin girls, and he named them something I hated, but can't remember what now.

redlaura · 28/02/2011 07:11

Morning all and good luck to all of you having your scans this week! It's so exciting! OH and I found it a bit of a turning point. I'd been feeling a little emotionally isolated as he is predominantly a practical person while at the best of times I'm an emotional one. The scan was a catalyst for us to talk about our different ways of dealing with the pregnancy and after a few weeks where things have been a bit tough we've just had a really lovely weekend and we have an even deeper understanding of each other.

Scan picture is magical !!!

Big hugs all round!

MandaHugNKiss · 28/02/2011 15:11

Had my scan this morning, but going back for the bloods on thursday as waited an hour and the still hadn't been called; DS2 was antsy and needed feeding so I left - not before scheduling my 20 weeks scan for 28th April!

So. The baby was amazing Grin after seeing literally a tiny blob four weeks ago, this was a real wriggling, clapping (so cute!) baby! Measured at 12 weeks exactly despite me charting and considering myself 11+5. So in line with NICE due date will now be 12th September.

NT measurement was 1.3 so very reassuring, and I can clearly see the nasal bone in the three snaps I was given . I think the sonographer felt sorry for DP who had to stay outside with DS2.

Absolutely shattered after DS2 thouht it would be fun to be awake from 3.40am until 6am (up at 7.30 to leave for scan). How am I gonna do this with two littlys?!

Looking forward to hearing everyone else's good news Smile

lxr1 · 28/02/2011 16:22

It's great to hear the news on everyone's 12 week scans coming in.

Had mine this afternoon, and finally I think it's sinking in that I'm growing a little person. Grin

Bubba wasn't moving much - but did do a stretch for us near the end though!

Sonographer was great, pointing out the hands, feet, nasal bone etc..and my NT measurement was 0.9 so very relieved on that.

My EDD has moved to 12th Sept - so same as you manda!

Minkyjj · 28/02/2011 16:42

Great to hear all about your good news and scan results. I still have a week to wait to see the midwife and two and a half weeks before my scan so cannot wait. Its really annoying at having to wait so long, the longest 13 weeks! My nausea is still really bad and gets much worst from about 3 oclock onwards - just in time for my double school run and having to cook the kids tea! I have the worst headaches every day still and I feel like I am permanently sleepwalking - I cannot wait to tell my friends and family why I am so out of it most of the time. It will also be so nice to know everything looks normal - after two miscarriages last year I am more than a little paranoid. I also want to know one way or the other whether its twins - I notice alot of people have this fear but as I am myself a twin and they run along my maternal side of the family, at 39 this year, its even more of a worrying prospect! Wink. Anyway ladies, seeing your positive posts keeps me focussed on things getting better in a few weeks Smile

ssmile · 28/02/2011 19:38

Had scan today all looks good, one baby bit of relief but it measured big so they bought my Edd forward 10days!!! to 3rd Sept. I seriously do not think that is correct as we were following my cycle like a hawk as had been trying for 18mths but hey ho!

Down side need to see the consultant at 20wks got some complications from 1st preg that may result in a c-sec with GA for this one bit down about that. Feel really flat now actually.. but relief all looks ok at the moment. Will be more relieved when blood results come back.

Gd luck to all those with scans coming up.

feralgirl · 28/02/2011 19:41

Hurrah for all the scans. It's just so awesome! I'm def only cooking one baby so that's a massive relief. Apparently the sprog is big so my DD is now 5th Sept.

Greedy, your post made me lol.

But now I am seriously contemplating Alastair if it's a boy. Is that wrong?

feralgirl · 28/02/2011 19:54

ssmile I just re-read your post and sorry that you're feeling "flat". I'm sure it'll all be fine, even if you do have to have a c-sec.

Have put my pics on my profile Smile

Meerkat11 · 28/02/2011 20:43

Had my scan today too :-) - all went well despite my nervousness about it all, so big relief and smiles all round!

Glad to hear all the others went well too.

Was so lovely to see it moving around and waving its arms - so surreal that it's actualy inside me! Oh, and I've been brought forward by a week too - so 4th Sept for me!

Off to tell the families this weekend - should be fun!

Good luck to all those with scans still to come - hope you don't get so paranoid as me ;-).

ursigurke · 01/03/2011 13:29

It's so nice to hear about all those scans.

ssmile, it must be really difficult for you now but at least you will have time to get used to the idea of a c-sec if you need one. In the end you have to do what is best for you and your baby.

I will have my scan tomorrow. And I have to go back for blood tests. Apparently the laboratory was "unable to use the last sample". Whatever that means. I hate blood tests. I'm always near fainting 5min after. And I still have a bruise from last time. Oh well, I guess I just have to grow up Wink

redlaura · 02/03/2011 09:31

God I'm feeling soooooo much better these days. Much more energy and nausea virtually disappeared. It only comes on if I do silly things, like on Saturday I went on the swings with my two year old neice. BIG MISTAKE!!!

So exciting to hear about your scans. ssmile sorry to hear you may have complications. Hope the news is better when you see the consultant. The most important thing is that you and baba are safe and well!! But totally understand why you feel this way.

On another note I have been sneezing madly since the very beginning of this pregnancy and read up that it's not uncommon. Anyone else getting that?

Love and hugs to all

lxr1 · 02/03/2011 11:09

redlaura, I've been sneezing too, since pretty much day one. Not a lot, but at least once a day, which is definitely not normal for me!

I'm generally feeling OK these days, I only feel a bit nauseous when I have to get up before 6am on an office day (thankfully only once a week!)

greedychops · 02/03/2011 13:47

Yay for all the happy scans. Ssmile - sorry tohear you are a bit down. I know most people would prefer a 'natural' birth, but if a cs is needed, it's needed. On the plus side,i guess you will know the date and will be able to sit back and watch the rest of us obsess over why we still haven't gone into labour 10 days after our due date.

Must say I am a bit surprised at all the dates being changed by so much - particularly for someone like ssmile as you know your dates so well. I can understand it if someone is unsure of their dates, but surely some babies are just different sizes at this stage are they not? Just read quite a few threads on here where the date has been changed, and then they go into labour early or late according to the new date, but much closer to the original date. Iyswim.

Anyone else getting muscle spasms in the tummy? I sat on the sofa this week, and felt like a giant baby had kicked me really hard in the tummy (like you get at about 30 weeks). Since then it's happened another twice. Read on google that people get muscle spasms at times, so I hope its not my muscles separating or anything.

Anyone got any experience of this?

ursigurke · 02/03/2011 13:53

I had my scan this morning, all fine, the baby was waving to us and, surprise, my dates got slightly changed.

greedychops, I agree with you, it is silly to change the EDD if the mother is absolutely sure. Especially as once again the official date is earlier as the one according to my LMP. I do not want to argue about induction just because I have rather big babies (well, as long as they are inside)
