Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

Hi Greedychops
Just read your query regarding muscle spasms and wanted to let you know that it could be Braxton Hicks contractions (fake contractions). You dont usually get them until much further into the pregnancy but I had them very early on in my two last pregnancies (from about 3 months onwards). Later in pregnancy they make your stomach go very hard and tight for a minute or so and it feels a bit strange but I knew I had the same feeling from very early with both pregnancies but only knew what it was second time around. Maybe it could be that? I was told that I shouldnt worry and that my body was just getting itself ready. If your worried though, check with the midwife.

redlaura · 02/03/2011 18:48

Yep yep yep! Get them too!

greedychops · 02/03/2011 19:46

Thanks minkyj - got loads of bh with ds2 and it felt more all over than this - but it could be the very beginnings I guess which then spread later.

I will mention it to mw at next appointment but it's not till 16 weeks. Will hopefully get a scan date soon, and sure as soon as I see a lo in there, I will not be too worried about niggles like this.

Xmasevie · 03/03/2011 20:09

Congrats manda Redlaura meerkat and all the other names I can't remember on getting the scans this week!! So great and reassuring to
Read this. Mines on the 7th - I should be exactly 12 weeks then.
Nothing much happening here. Belly looking bigger. Having to disguise it at work. Boobs not quite as sore and the past two nights only peed once during night! Could this be the end of the first trimester?
Thanks for all your tips on heartburn, it's suddenly stopped - maybe it was aggravated by something I ate. Hopefully this is not my symptoms fading for the wrong reasons! Oh scan hurry up!!
Not been as active on the thread as been falling asleep most evenings in front of fire! I'm itching to tell the world now. Waiting till the 12th when we can see our family in person. What are you guys planning to announce on facebook? Any good ideas? I feel like writing: up the duff finally!!!

greedychops · 03/03/2011 20:15

Good that things are slowly getting better for you xmasevie.

Think my facebook thing will go along the lines of We're expecting another lo in September. Before any of you ask, yes it was planned, no there isn't much to do in xxx in the evenings, and no, we won't be calling it Hamish!

Xmasevie · 03/03/2011 20:48

Greedy chops, that's a cracker! I want to write something humorous too. Maybe - Santa definitely came on xmaseve, lol! Due sep 15th!!

greedychops · 03/03/2011 20:57

Lol xmasevie Grin

feralgirl · 04/03/2011 20:06

My FB announcement (accompanied by new profile pic of scan photo) was:

Feralgirl IS PREGNANT! Check out number 2!

Short and to the point.

I am a bit grr about having my dates changed as it goes; I know exactly when I conceived and last time I was pretty sure too, and then DS was 'premature' according to the scan date and I had to give birth in hospital and stay overnight as a result.

This time my date's only been changed by a few days but it means I can't go back to school after the summer hols and get all the attention a bit more time on full pay.

MandaHugNKiss · 04/03/2011 20:28

Great that we've had a few more good scans :)

I've vanished the last few days as my ms seems to have suddenly got bloody WORSE. What the hell is that all about?! Today I came very close to actually throwing up - lots of heaving over the toilet. Completely and utterly exhausted beyond words, too.

Hoping beyond hope (as I'd improved for a few days and saw a return of some energy on monday) that this is my final relapse before entering the second tri proper and feeling better. I don't even need to bloom (although it'd be nice, I've also sprouted two spots, one on my cheek t'other on my NOSE - ugh). I just wanna eat again!

If there's anywhere I can do that, it's here. Thanks, ladies.

redlaura · 05/03/2011 11:08

Go for it manda! Rubbish that you're feeling so I'll. I had the same last week: three or four days of feeling worse than ever, throwing up at work etc, and then suddenly it got better!!! It was as if it was one last horrendous push into the 2nd trimester! Now most days I feel good but with bouts of nausea every four days that last a couple of hours and is usually caused my some kind of motion! Being on a bus, in a car.

You'll get there manda

I'm off out for the day. If anyone of you ladies happen to find my brain while I'm away please let me know. I appear to have totally mislaid it!

Xxxxx

Minkyjj · 05/03/2011 12:54

Hi Manda, I am completely with you on that one. This week (11+ weeks) I am exhausted, feeling nauseous and despite the fact I think I am starving, when it comes to eating I cannot actually work out anything I can bare to eat and when I try I really dont enjoy what I am eating. I cannot wait to enjoy food again - lets face it without the Winethere is not much to enjoy of an evening even if I could manage to stay awake!

redlaura · 06/03/2011 15:28

Oh "awake". Remind me what that is again!

alibaba1980 · 07/03/2011 12:20

I'm glad to hear about all these scans. I have mine a week tomorrow and I can't wait!

I too seem to have had a relapse and am struggling to eat anything as my appetite is non existent. It's really so unlike me! I'm not feeling as nauseous as I was although it does creep up on me from time to time. I'm also still falling asleep as soon as I hit the sofa in the evenings and my brain has turned to mush. I didn't think you got nappy brain until after the birth!! Confused

redlaura · 07/03/2011 20:59

Speaking of nappy brain I tried to get into my block using my tube pass today and a couple of days ago I had to describe the word "conservatory" as " the outside room like a veranda but with glass Walls and ceiling".

Hope you start to feel better soon alibaba. I've been having a spell of nasty headaches.

Xxx

MandaHugNKiss · 08/03/2011 18:31

I've almost finshed a huge 185 gram bag of Tooty Frooties and, ugh, just ugh. What was I thinking?! I am going to tell myself that I did it to make myself feel less old... my first 'baby' turned sixteen yesterday!

How is everybody? I feel a distinct improvement in the ms (wouldn't have stuffed my face with sweeties otherwise!) but have an awful cold/virus thing that has really wiped me out.

Louplet · 08/03/2011 18:54

Thought I was over the ms but felt rancid this morning. Might be to do with going back to work yesterday though. Lots of lovely pancakes courtesy of DH this evening though Smile

OP posts:
ursigurke · 08/03/2011 20:25

Well, MSwise it was quite the same for me. I thought it was over but then it came back for a couple of days. Just as in my first pregnancy and as so many on here seem to experience. But I hope it is over now. It's more about where else could I find something to eat :)
I hope those of you who are still suffering will soon feel better.

Minkyjj · 09/03/2011 14:32

Well really looking forward to getting through the MS stage and the chronic headaches. I dont feel too bad in the morning but from lunchtime onwards its just awful. I am at the start of week 11 or 12 (not sure until my scan next week) - when has the MS started to improve for most of you?

slowshow · 09/03/2011 14:53

Started improving for me at about 11 and a half weeks, Minky. I'm 13 weeks tomorrow and still feel mildly icky in the afternoons/evenings, but it isn't full on nausea anymore. Tiredness is improving too, but only slightly.

Had my scan last week. It was so surreal, I could hardly believe this little thing was inside me. Pic in my profile Grin

MandaHugNKiss · 09/03/2011 16:10

slow based on that scan picture I'm saying GIRL! Grin

minky Did you get your scan moved foward at all given what you know about our dates and the window for NT?

I'm still pretty ill with this virus thing, which DP has now got. Last night, I was desperate as it's making him snore like something inhuman... he felt so bad he got up at 3.45 am and drove the ten minutes to his mums to hopefully allow me to rest without his reverberations shaking the wall around me! He came in this morning with bacon rolls, hot chocolate and an apple turnover for me so it all turned out for the best!

MandaHugNKiss · 09/03/2011 16:11

Not our dates, minky Uh, obviously, we've never been on a date Blush Your* dates, I mean Grin

Minkyjj · 09/03/2011 19:26

Just typed a long reply and lost the whole thing - someone lend me a brain!
Slow - thanks for that - lemon and ginger herbal tea helps the nausea even if its not my cup of tea its worth it!
Manda - No they wont move the scan but assured me its okay and I know I will be within the window - they also said they can do a slighty different test if you are past these dates.
Eight days to wait and just need to stop worrying. The good news was the midwife was brilliant - she says I can choose which consultant I would like because its going to be risky (I have unusual health problems) and that I will be covered by the senior anaethetist when I have the c-section. As soon as the hospital takes over I should be very well watched - lets hope thats the case. Now just have to stop worrying that it could be twins (Im a twin and they run on my female side)

redlaura · 10/03/2011 08:40

Hello all. Morning sickness improved me in week 12. Still feel slightly icky every now and then though with headaches etc. Turns out I have a urine infection that myodwife missed last week. On antibiotics so I'm really hopeful that once this has passed I'll be back to myself!

manda how amazing is your OH!!!

minky sounds like you're feeling more positive about a possible c-section... Twins though! Fingers crossed you only have one bun in the oven, but I bet you'll more than rise to the challenge if another one has sneaked in while you weren't looking!

Minkyjj · 10/03/2011 13:26

redlaura - sorry to hear that you have been off colour - UTIs are horrible but common during pregnancy - glad they have picked it up. I used to get them alot in the past and a consultant urologist advised me that cranberry juice really helps if you drink it once a day to prevent them - worked for me when nothing else would and touch wood I havent had one since (used to get them every few weeks).
I am positive about a c-section - I have had two already and although the recovery is a bit rough for a few weeks, its really not as bad as people think. I have never had a choice as I am not allowed to go into second stage labour and I just think that whatever is safest for you and the baby is what is best. I have had so many people make negative comments to me in the past about how I have never really experienced childbirth and how the "too posh to push" attitude nowadays is a cop out and I just think that its sad that some ladies feel the need to see it as a failure.
Hopefully my twin panic will be resolved next week at the scan - I am not really ready to go from 2 kids to 4 overnight, its just happened to a friend who has gone from 3 kids to 5 with identical twins last week. I think my husband would pass out, its taken me years to persuade him that "we" want a third child!
A good tip as well for anyone looking for a cheap maternity swimsuit - I just found a great one for £12 in Matalan (the sales assistant said they have only just launched them down here). Beat the hefty £26 from Mothercare. Off for a dip!

redlaura · 10/03/2011 19:27

Thanks minky. will definitely go for the cranberry juice tip. Always have it if I have cystitis but good prevention too! Must admit to feeling a tad sorry for myself. I took the week off to chill and also pack for the move but I've had a fever most of the week and getting cabin fever... I mean I just cried at crufts!!!! FFS

I'm pretty sure that once the antibiotics kick in and the symptoms go I'll be back on top because I'd pretty much come through the other side of the morning sickness.

I've never understood the too posh to push attitude. Many of my friends had c sections and people underestimate how much it takes it out of you in the weeks after.

Hope the rest of you are keeping well!
