Hi

Still whispering the good news but is there anyone else out there wishing they had made the most of the Stilton this Christmas? [Wink]

hello everyone,

I haven't updated for a while. I seem to be okay. Some days i feel nauseous before meals, so i have a least some symptoms. I also get very bloated and windy in the evenings which is often quite painful. I have been to my second doctors appt at 7 1/2 weeks. He tested my urine, took my blood pressure, pressed my abdomen and listened to my lungs and heart. Next Friday I have the appt at the midwife unit which I have been told will be with other people to discuss all the things we need to know. I presume the booking in appt will be after.

I'm 8 weeks tommorrow, I really wish I knew what was going on. There's no reason really to think something might be wrong but I think I won't really be convinced til i have a scan.

I haven't had any red/pink discharge for just over a week now and just one or two tint bits of browny stuff so fingers crossed. best wishes to everybody.

Lookig forward to hearing good news from xmasevie (I have a cousin called Evie!)

So sorry today has been rough greedy - hopefully this evening will be better. I've only managed half a sandwich so far today Hmm

WHy don't you ask for a referral to your epu yoshi? Some are even walk in. If you've had some bleeding it's not unreasonable to want reassurance!

Xmasevie · 09/02/2011 18:35

Hi ladies, just back from scan and we have a little jelly baby with a heartbeat! Measuring 2cm at what they wreckon is 8 weeks 3 days. So behind what I thought by three days. I was crying with fear before she even touched me but she made me feel do calm and saw hb straight away. I'm so thankful and it's the best 95 quid ever spent! Hope all you ladies are ok today xxJust been to pub for a celebratory j2o xx ps Xmasevie cos I thought it was conceived on Xmas eve
Lol

redlaura · 09/02/2011 19:32

yoshi I agree go and see the epu to put your mind at rest.

greedy I got really hungry at lunch and wolfed down a chicken noodle soup from itsu and then felt so ill the rest of the day. Now I'm having a major craving for Mexican food. We've got pie instead? We'll see how that goes down.

Xmas evie so pleased for you!!! Sounds lovely.

So much crap at work and I've lost what motivation I had left. Really struggling to give a shit about it when there's a teeny tiny baby brewing. Anyone else going through that?

Have midwife appointment on Friday. Apparently it will take two hours!!!! I mean what are they going to do in all that time? Then I have the scan two weeks after that. I'll be exactly twelve weeks by then. Trying not to give into the irrational thoughts I'm having about what's going on in there.

Keep smiling everyone xxx

redlaura · 09/02/2011 19:51

Actually I'll be thirteen weeks by then. Thank god the first trimester is nearly over

ssmile · 09/02/2011 20:18

Found if I eat anthing with onion in it thats not fully cooked oh my makes me feel SO ill and bloated. Eating far too much white toast with real butter and marmite... my staple I geel shit but need to eat something food at the moment...but I am having me wholewheat cereal in the morning to keep it all moving along a little.

Picked up the booking in pack from GP yesterday as MW told me to read it through in advance of booking in and fill in the bits I can. (she is very busy and P/T but lovely so trying to help her out too) Gosh took me an hour to read all the bumff lots more than 4yrs ago with DD!

ssmile · 09/02/2011 20:18

geel heehee should read feel

MandaHugNKiss · 09/02/2011 22:04

Well, redlaura it takes so long because they have to take medical history (for both you, DH and your immediate families - so quiz him about whether there is anything relevant (heart problems, blah blah), a few vials of blood, blood pressure, urine sample and factor in the time it takes for you to get fully naked ahead of an examination including an internal/get back dressed again.

Hehe, sorry, I couldn't resist. Only the medical history and bloods/sample/bp part is real! But she may have a quick feel of your tummy - uterus should have just popped above the pubis by then Smile But don't be surprised if she doesn't.

And as it's your first she may assume you have questions (not realising you aready post on The Font of All Accepted Knowledge aka Mumsnet and so her piffling advice is null and void**) She'll probably talk you through the testing they offer (nuchal translucency + bloods) and how if you are screen positive the steps you might want to take invoving more invasive testing.

Yeah, pretty much it's a long old appointment. Although two hours is stretching the realms of usual... maybe you will have to get nekkie! (I'm JOKING!)

**again, kidding! They are health professionals and even if you've received a ton of advice here, you should always check any worries with your midwife

redlaura · 09/02/2011 22:36

Shock manda. Blimey! Glad You're joking about the internal examination... Though to be honest we're going to have to get used to this. Becoming pregnant is like stepping into a parallel universe. Everything looks the same but it's totally changed. I just spent ages on the phone talking prams/pushchairs/travel systems with my sister in law. (loving it all though) Grin

ssmile · 10/02/2011 07:58

I didn't get my first internal until I was 41 wks preg and had to have sweep.... spent half my preg worried / wondering when it was going to happen! My MW just felt my tummy each time.

By the time you get to 41wks you don't really care and just get used to it. I used to eye up the size of all the midwives hands as they came in the room in anticipation :o

greedychops · 10/02/2011 08:07

Ssmile - had forgotten about the onion thing but I ad that last time and I love onions usually.

Mandahugandkss - you got me, and I've done it twice before! I was sitting here going, oh no, not an internal already. Don't remember that with the first two Blush.

But as someone else said, by the time you get to the birth, you give up on any restraint or trying to keep some dignity (at least I did) and everyone and their uncle can stick their hand up there if it get the baby out Grin.

Was having a look this morning at a baby name thread I started in nov 08 before ds2 came along for names for him. It was quite funny how many people said not to go with the combination that we went for, and that they liked other suggestions better. We love ds2s name, so you don't necessarily have to take advice from others on names.

Will be nice when we can share a wee bit more info - don't know about anyone else but I changed from my usual listing name until we tell people in rl.

leannemummy · 10/02/2011 10:41

Hi Everyone would you mind if i joined your thread? Congratulations to you all on your pregnancies :) I am only guessing my edd at the mo as i am still waiting to get to the doctors for referral to booking in and scans etc but i think its around the 28th sept and that would make me about 7 weeks :) I have 2 children already My daughter was 3 in october and my son is going to be 2 in march! Was quite a shock to find out we were pregnant again as it was not planned and we were very anxious about having another baby financially etc but getting more excited now :) still apprehensive about the 3 kids under 5 senario though lol. My symptoms at mo are feeling sick most of day, sooooo tired and my sore boobs, bum and belly seem to be growing rapidly!! other than that all is good x

slowshow · 10/02/2011 11:28

I'm nine weeks today Smile

On Sunday evening, though, I looked down at my tummy and saw what look like thin red stretchmarks all over me - from hipbone to hipbone. I am appalled! Granted, I am REALLY bloated, and have been for a few weeks, but surely that isn't enough to give me stretchmarks? Not at this early stage?

Jesus, I'm depressed.

leannemummy · 10/02/2011 12:37

Hi slowshow congratulation on your pregnancy :) sorry to hear a bout stretch marks but that might be as bad as they get and if they are thin you will prob hardly see them once they turn silver. I have never used it but heard bio oil quite good. I used palmers coco butter for stretch marks (think its only about £4 a bottle) and didnt get any with my first 2 pregnancies although i am convinced will not be as lucky with my third!! But its still worth a go!! Hope your feeling better xx

Doobydoo · 10/02/2011 17:03

Hi All
Glad you seem to be doing wellSmile
Just to say don't put me in any Stats as I had a miscarriage at 7+5..I am fine.
Good luck to you allSmile
I am drinking wineGrin

Xmasevie · 10/02/2011 18:39

so sorry dooby doo for your loss.

congrats slow show on reaching 9 weeks I think I am nine weeks today too, but the scan said 8 +4 but I believe my dates as the scan before 10 weeks not accurate.

Got my date for the 12 week scan from bath but its too early, ill only be 10 weeeks so I called to postpone, I want to see as much of beanie as I can!

leanne mummy welcome to the thread!

red laura my booking in appointment took 1.5 hours, they took blood, blood pressure and asked all manner of questions including whether me and my hub were in any way related which got onto a hilarious conversation about in-breeding. It turned out to take longer too as there was a student midwife there who turns out lived in the same french village as my husband, small world! I rather enjoyed the attention!

Sorry for the TMI here, but today I had some strange green mucus which came out when I wiped after a pee. I was soo bizarre, without being too disgusting it looked like snot. Has anyone else had this? my sister said she gets it a lot and when they took a swab it was clear. I wonder whether to get it checked for inefection? It kind of freaked me out. So that was today's drama.

What will tomorrow bring? Bought a frame for my scan pic today and its now on my mantelpiece. So chuffed.

Thank god its friday tomorrow, can finally catch up on some sleep.

Xmasevie · 10/02/2011 18:54

mandahugandkiss thanks for saying about evie, i love the name too but its taken in my family :-( have you all started thinking of names yet? I have two girls ones and nothing for boys

Xmasevie · 10/02/2011 18:55

ps wish we could upload our scan pics to this

feralgirl · 10/02/2011 20:11

LOL about lack of dignity and being pg.

A friend of mine once told me that you leave your dignity at the maternity ward door and you don't pick it up again when you leave. She was soooo right! I have a totally different relationship with my body since DS; I'm less bothered about what it looks like and more interested in what it can do!

Evie; I am currently favouring Jacob Heath or Polly Rose (Heath and Rose are both family names). However I may well have changed my mind by tomorrow as these are about the millionth choices I have made. DH has stopped paying attention now Hmm

MandaHugNKiss · 10/02/2011 20:21

xmas you can put photos on here! I have a few - if you click my user name you can see them. I haven't out this beans scan on though as it was literally a tiny blob... 12 weeks one will be a different story though and I probably will! I can't remember the ins and outs of putting them on but it'll be under 'my mumsnet' and I think you might have to host them somewhere (but not sure on this...). I use villagephotos although lots of people use photobucet or somesuch.

dooby so sorry for your loss - I hope you're taking care of yourself and good luck if you decide to move forward ttc again.

slow Ugh, sorry about the stretchmarks. I'm afraid I can't offer any advice as I've never gotten any through pregnancy despite DS2 being pretty massive (9lb 12ozs) and I never used any creams or potions... If it's any consolation, I got some on my hips/top of thighs when I went through puberty (and went from beanpole to womanly in the space of a few weeks!). They do fade. And I think what helps considering my own personal experience with puberty and then pregnancy is putting weight on/changing shape slowly. I understand we don't all have complete control over that with pregnancy though.

greedy he he he. Sorry! But you're so right And, first timers, take heed. I think even the most prudish of women, or women who have very good reason to feel very private about their bodies surrender to going with the flow come the end. I've never been one to worry about smear tests or be in any way anxious about my body when it comes to health professionals - it's their job and not like they would be choosing to do what they have to do if they didn't have to!

leanne many congrats and welcome! I don't envy you your three under five senario - says me who will have two under two but my aunt did it and I babysat for her a LOT. It's hard work, and intense for the first few years but then you should be plain sailing! Ah, y'know, these things have a way of working out. Do you have practical help on hand - a good support network of family/friends?

MandaHugNKiss · 10/02/2011 20:27

x-posted with feral

hello lady! So true about how our relationship with our bodies change - heck with our selves

I just read your first name as 'Jacob Health' and as I kinda skim a sentence before reading it properly I thought you'd found a new cracker that was good for morning sickness! Grin

Now I see the truth of the sentence, I must say I like both names (Rose is my surname so I'm a little biased on that one maybe!). I went to school with a Polly (she was nice!) but have never came across one since.

redlaura · 10/02/2011 20:41

dooby so sorry!

yoshimigalloway · 11/02/2011 08:53

hello,

I've had a little bit more bleeding. Last night i went to the loo and had a sharp short pain in my left side low down, when i wiped there was some light red watery blood. This morning after the loo again there was brown watery discharge. I called my midwife who was unavailiable so I called the midwife unit who have faxed a form through to the epu. I called the epu as i didn't want to just wait for the call and they said the earliest they can fit my in is monday at 10.30am. So i've called into work and have had to tell my manager i'm not coming in. So i guess i'll just rest and wait. I'm not bleeding on my liner or anything, just when i wipe after a wee. Do you think it could just be one of those things? maybe to do with my cervix? the pain feels a bit like a pulled muscle.

I guess i'll have to wait and see. It'll be a long weekend x

Hope everyone else is doing well.

MandaHugNKiss · 11/02/2011 09:32

So sorry you have this worry yoshi but it really could be just one of those things. Of course, things don't always turn out for the best but bleeding in early pregnancy that goes on to term with a perfect baby is really very common - far more common than we realise until it's happening to us (because it's not the kind of thing we talk about in general conversation, eh?)

I'm glad you've decided to contact the epu - I really hope it's good news on monday. Meanwhile, yes, it'll seem like a long wait! Try to keep busy, but in a relaxing kind of way - so reading, puzzles, good films on dvd... y'know the kind of stuff!

If your pain gets worse, or if you start feeling pain in your shoulder tip then you really need to contact the midwives again or possibly go to a&e, but I really hope that won't be the case. DO try to stay positive; thinking of you.
