ChoChoSan · 07/01/2011 10:09

Excellent news from team FC! How lovely they got their baybee out safely, if a little early! Bring on the champagne and stinky cheese! Can't wait for more news, but hope they are snuggling together on this wet miserable morning!

Hi Bess, count me in for a meet up, subject to circs of .course...glad to hear you are doing well.

Well, I don't know if it was the iron tablets, but I got my first full nights sleep last night (well apart from the requisite wee breaks) despite arriving home from work almost crippled and in tears with back pain....I have only just been woken by the arrival of my birth pool in a box, so hoping to feel more energized when I finally come around!

My sudden appearance at the top of the list does make me consider doing a 'return to sender' on the birth pool, and booking myself in for an elcs (no offence to those who had unwanted cs), as I am now entering the gold standard 'shit yourself' mode

ginhag · 07/01/2011 10:13

Love and congrats to msfc and welcome to the second boychild! Xx

PrincessBoo · 07/01/2011 10:19

Congratulations MrsFC and jolly well done you. Hope the walking around like Ozzy only lasts for a very short time. Ace to hear about the megacleverlatch from the newboy :)

rocketleaf · 07/01/2011 10:26

He's beautiful mrs sorry you had to be cut again but you have your boy safely and thats all that matters in the end. big unESHlike smooches to you. xx

:o cho you can run, but you can't hide Wink glad you got good kippage last night.

so its bad backs all round then? Think lozzer and I are leading parallel lives with backs and due dates anyway. So can i ask is this all lower back shizz? like right below small of back in the pelvis area? thats there i had my disk problem last year and worried it might come back on t'other side. eep.

Muser · 07/01/2011 10:31

I have upper/middle back pain rocket, because I like to be contrary. And have a pair of feet permanently stuck in my ribs.

MASSIVE congrats to MrsFC, sorry the induction didn't work but looking at your gorgeous boy, who could care how he got here when he's so adorable? Awww.

Ocarina · 07/01/2011 10:39

More hoorays! Tis a good week for ESH babies - congratulations MsFC, it's fabulous news.

laurielou · 07/01/2011 10:43

MrsFC Sorry the induction didn't work, but I hope that all feels ages ago now. I'm sure he is a bit of alright.

Re back pain, yep, mine is the lower back. Trust you to be different Muse Smile. Consultant didn't seem overly concerned about repeat disk slippage, so like all the other nasty things related to diff & childbirth its gone from my brain in a small cloud of smoke.

owlbooty · 07/01/2011 10:46

Hoorah! Welcome to the new little PESHlet & excellent work on the latching on :)

I had a shite night's sleep last night - horrible stretchy aching all over womble/ribs/etc and morning sickness nausea - at 4am - wtf? Did anyone else get this in 1st trimester?

Glad you got a good night's sleep though, Cho , I imagine that is a precious thing by the time you get to that stage in the game.

I found iron tablets to be super things btw; I got anaemic a few years back and once I started taking them I felt fecking marvellous - awake, and everything :)

rocketleaf · 07/01/2011 11:02

Yes to both booty was never actually sick but would wake up feeling nauseous in the middle of the night. and yes to the stretching although that was earlier on (around 6-7weeks) They both should pass soon but that doesnt help much when you've had a shit nights sleep

loz is this a differd consultant or a back consultant? I never actaully saw a back specialist or was ever scanned and various physios didn't seem to agree on what was actually the problem with my back (entertaining!) so never had a definitive diagnosis. Anyhoo, am just going to make sure i keep up the gentle exercise as that seems to be the ticket.

muse sorry yes, remember you saying now, still got a foot stuck in your ribs then? ouchy!

Medee · 07/01/2011 12:12

Excellent news MsFC and hurrah for your lovely new boy.

Thanks for the back advice. I brought my wedge pillow in today and that has made a big difference, allowing me to sit up, but I shall still put in a request for another risk assessment. My back pain is mainly middle right, due I think to sleeping on my left. I tried sleeping on my right last night, think I ended up rolled onto my left with no support, so woke up with lower back pain. Current tension is in shoulders/ neck area. Bah!

I?d love to be doing yoga, but the classes locally have proven to be at really problematic times, daytime, too early in the evening or too far away. And being contract can?t really justify losing half a day?s pay every week. Someone has offered me a pregnancy pilates DVD though, so if she brings that into work, I can try that at home.

laurielou · 07/01/2011 12:23

Rocket it was a differd consultant. TBH he didn't really seem bothered. As I said earlier my back has been behaving itself for a while now, so he just said that I must be doing something right with yoga & chiro, so keep at it. I'm also planning to look if there are aqua natal classes, or at the very least go for a gentle swim too. He was happy for me to be marked as MW led. But he did say to monitor the situation & if back conked out again I could always be changed to consultant led.

Apart from slipped disk I've never had proper diagnosis either. If it goes its usually cramp type spasms. Which is nice. And does worry me seeing as contractions are, uh, cramp type spasms Confused

Foot stuck in ribs - ouch! According to scan yesterday Bug is definitely taking after his lazy arsed dad by reclining with head on my left side & feet on right. All I needed was to see the TV remote & a copy of Empire rested on his chest & Bug would've been a mirror image of Mr Loz Grin

We're going out for a friend's birthday tonight, a drink then curry about 9.30. Friend's GF is also diffed - about 4 weeks ahead of me - so I'm thinking if she can do this so can I. However, she's about 15 years younger than me. Eating a curry that late - I'm just asking for my first real bout of heartburn, aren't I? Grin

TwinkleToes76 · 07/01/2011 12:28

Excellent news Mrs! Congratulations. Sorry to hear the labour/cs was grim x

Lorry so glad you had a good scan

Had my 16 week appointment today, all fine and heartbeat strong, although it took a while for the student midwife to find it (she'd only been training for 4 days). The midwife told me that I might be out of their catchment area for another homebirth, despite having one last time with them Hmm, which means our building work better get a move on so we can move in to the new place before June and get transferred to a new hospital! Anyone at Homerton???

I've been getting little kicks for a few days now which is luverly .

PerfectDromedary · 07/01/2011 12:39

MRSFC!!!!!!!!!! You're always in a rush, woman.

Sorry that the c-sec was grim; I trust MrFC did not repeat his predecessor's schoolboy error and stayed away from the business end? Any, well done! You are very brave! And now you have a lovely baybee!

Fuck, how did I get to be third on the list...? Still, this baybee will be late. It will, it will, it will...

Ivegotmrbitey · 07/01/2011 12:53

Congratulations mrsFCand welcome to the world babyboyFC!

owlie if I wake in the night to pee or just rearrange massive bloated frame I will generally have a few heaves before the FDH hands me a ritz cracker. It really is true that the salty dryness works somehow! If I drink anything on the other hand the few heaves will turn into a full on vom. The glamour of pregnancy hey?

Sorry about all the back pain, I know a good stretch for sciatica if anyone is suffering with that?

Does anyone have any thoughts on paracetomol? The preggo book says not until twelve weeks but I am only eleven weeks and think I may go blind by twelve weeks if this head ache isn't stopped!

Have a lovely time tonight, Gaviscon also available in handy single does sachets loz Wink

rocketleaf · 07/01/2011 13:05

loz my back pain was really bad on wed because of shopping on Tuesday and an hour in the pool has sorted it right out so I would defo recommend it. Also get a lassi to have with your curry, it will help calm things down :o

ah twinks hearing the heart beat is lovely, :o although slightly nerve wracking when they don't find it straight away, mind you if you are feeling movement then its not such and ishoo. Sorry to hear HB might be in jeopardy!

I'm so excited about Monday I could pee!!! (mind you thats not really much change from normality right now)

please to explain stretch for sciatica bitey? no idea re paracetamol, are you drinking enough? (water not gin)

Scorpette · 07/01/2011 13:16

CONGRATS, MrsFC and MiniFC! Shame about the induction fail but huzzah for your new bundle of gorgeousness Grin Hope you're both doing v well and looking forward to more updates when you can

Drom, I understand your nerves, but surely a later baby means a bigger baby? Ever since hearing I'm having a boy, my Mum keeps going on about how she 'just knows' it's going to be huge because it's a boy. I keep pointing out that wishing a fanny-ripper on me is not exactly helpful but impending grandmotherhood has sent her completely bonkers (previously v rational and down-to-earth and hateful of gender stereotypes). What she's basing this on, I do not know. Perhaps because my brother was a 'whopping' 6lb 3 as opposed to my 6lb 1 Hmm

Bitey, I took the odd couple of paracetamol before 12 weeks (never heard you had to avoid at all). I don't think 2 is going to cause any problems. I have, however, been a bit worried about all the scare stories in the media recently about taking painkillers possibly causing shrunken, infertile bits in boys as I've been taking at least 2 nearly every day since 12 wks because of my non-stop headaches and am having a boy. Not that that particular area looked that small on the scan, mind Wink I then tell myself I'm just being daft.

OkieCokie · 07/01/2011 13:30

Muchos congratulations to MsFC and the FC. Shame about the failed induction but at least they didnt keep trying IMO. And what can I say about boys and their ability to boob it - basically it is a skill they learn early and their fasination with them continues FOR EVER.

TwinkleToes76 · 07/01/2011 13:37

Thanks leafy! Are you finding out the flavour on Monday?

Bitey sorry you're feeling headachey. I've never heard any probs about taking paracetemol before 12 weeks either! My GP the other week said I could take co-codomol too if necessary. I did and it works a damn sight better than paracetemol did, but did make me feel pretty high before knocking me out for a few hours (don't drive on it!).

owlbooty · 07/01/2011 13:43

Bitey aha, you have trained the FDH to wake up and hand you biscuits? That is absolute genius. I salute you. My poor ancient fella has resorted to sleeping next door (room not house) because I roll around too much and wake him up. Oh dear. This may not end well.

Scorps I believe some sort of literary award is due for the phrase 'fanny-ripper' Grin

Also, Bitey could you maybe ring NHS direct and see what they say? I would have thought a couple of paracetamol would be okay, surely?

Ivegotmrbitey · 07/01/2011 13:47

rocket there are two that my physio gave me but the first I think is impractical for differs. You lie on the floor on your back, draw your knees to your chest, list shoulders and rock along the lenght of your back. Actually not impractical, more like impossible! The second one gives a lovely stretch accross the bum cheek of the stretched leg and involves standing side on by a steady object about an inch below hip height (I have just used the back of my tub chair, bending the leg nearest to it and putting the bent leg flat (so the outside of your thigh, knee and top of calf) are on a flat surface and then with good posture gently lower your hips by bending the knee of the supporting leg.

Bit worried i have described that badly, but have found on you tube and it looks like a modified for preggos version of it.

I am drinking loads of water and barley water but the head ache does feel like a hangover head ache so maybe I need even more! Have searched the house and can only find some sinister looking things called tylenol so am going to go and see the font of all wisdom that is my local pharmacist and quiz him closely!

Lovely to hear about chilled out baybee loz!

Stupid scare stories scorps! My mother keeps putting into perspective for me with revelations about wine drinking, tablet taking and stilton scoffing when pregnant with me and my sister. The only solution I think of is to throw all the baby books away and stop reading newspapers for the duration! It's lovely how proud you sound of the boy's bits!

PerfectDromedary · 07/01/2011 14:07

Scorps Am not nervous about giving birth - I was 9lb 13 and my mother was not ripped in two, so I suspect that it's possible to survive birth most of the time. I just HAVE NOTHING for the baby. It needs to be late, otherwise it will be sleeping in a drawer wrapped in towels.

Muser · 07/01/2011 14:16

Nothing wrong with sleeping in a drawer Grin. Have you got shopping plans Drom? I predict you will sprog before me. As will Gin. Maybe even Medee will do a big queue jump.

I am starting to feel very unwieldy. Who knew putting socks on could be so difficult?

PerfectDromedary · 07/01/2011 14:21

I have a JOHN LEWIS LIST We haven't actually bought anything from it as yet, but there is a LIST.

And I did buy TNB this for Christmas, so the baby will at least have a t-shirt.

Washing my legs in the shower! That's when the unwieldy really kicks in for me - I can't quite reach my ankles without feeling very, very sick. Oh, and trying to reach my computer at work to turn it on - the bump hits the desk and my arms are almost too short.

Muser · 07/01/2011 14:24

If you have a list you're practically there! You just need to pay for the stuff. Easy as pie.

Sitting at my desk after lunch makes me feel very unwieldy too. I didn't even eat that much but I feel like I can't bend in the middle.

Scorpette · 07/01/2011 14:36

Are babies NOT meant to sleep in a drawer then, Drom? Confused...

Time to get buying, oh behump-ed one! Sales are still on :)

Bitey, your description of the headache sounds horribly familiar. I would recommend those stick-on cool pads ('Migraleve'). And moaning about the headache. A lot Wink

Oh, and re: boy's bits - we had both presumed it was a girl for some reason and it was a bit of a (nice) shock to discover baby is male, so I think I'm focussing on his, ahem, endowment to make it seem actually real, iykwim. TYF is not exactly meagrely rationed in that area, so it amuses me to think 'like father, like son' Wink

May I have a small ILs moan? We are giving The Lad both our surnames but ILs are refusing to do this once he's here, saying it is a TYF'sSurname only. We both feel that it's just another shit thing in a long line of them treating me like an outsider. They are totally treating me like an incubator to continue their male line (have not ONCE asked how I am feeling, and much worse) and yet are totally uninterested. They have actually told us we are telling them too much (only speak to them once every few months and TYF's Dad will only 'talk shop' at work)! They were actually bored that we sent them a copy of the first scan pic and don't want to know about the scan we had on Tues. Angry TYF rarely gets angry - he probably loses his temper @ once or twice a year but he feels so much love and protectiveness for his child that he is proper fuming. Sadly, they won't change. I feel so sad, because they also overlook TYF as the middle child (something that people actually comment on, it's so blatant).

Soz, am waffling on now. Just so AAAAAARGH! Angry
