Mrs FC update! After her blood pressure went zoom last night, she was kept in for observation.

She is now a priority for the labour ward and will have a gentle induction as soon as a bed becomes free. They will give it eight hours to see what happens, and if there's no developments by then she'll go for a c section.

Pliz to send love and kisses in the general direction of ThatLondon.

LadyGoneGaga · 06/01/2011 13:49

Thanks for the update, Drom. Hope she doesn't have to wait too long for a bed and the induction all goes smoothly.

Sending easy, squeezy, sneezy baby vibes London-wards.

Muser · 06/01/2011 13:54

Much love heading MrsFC's way. Hope she gets a nice easy induction soon.

rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 14:07

Fingers crossed for a smooth ride hereonin for MsFC. Thanks for the update camellyone

Scorpette · 06/01/2011 15:19

Sending all best wishes Lundun-wise for MamaFC. Hope she's already in a lovely labour ward bed and inducifying (proper medical term) as I type. The ESH are with ya, gel :)

'Easy, squeezy, sneezy' should be our motto! LGG, you are a bloody genius; you don't work in advertising, do you?!

ChoChoSan · 06/01/2011 15:24

Can any of you gals talk to me about iron deficiency - latest blood test raised concern with midwife, who is dropping round some iron tablets - though I hope to just up intake of spinach etc. Should I be worried?

rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 15:40

cho ask her about Spatone, its better than iron tablets as its in liquid form and therefore is easily absorbed. Iron tablets have far more than you need so that you get enough into your system (majority is wasted) so they can make you constipated (not good on top of differs constipation!)

Not sure if you can get it on prescription tho, you might have to pay, 7 quid for a months supply. I took it ealier last year when i was bordering on anemic as recommended by my acupuncturist.

rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 15:42

i also did a bit of research into anemia in pregnancy/during conception as was trying to get diffed at the time. Think it can be harmful in early stages of development if you get diffed while already anemic but apparently quite common in later stages of diffedness. Not ideal but a few supplements should sort you out.

Medee · 06/01/2011 15:45

Can I ask about backache? Day 2 of back to work and my back is killing me. before I contact the HSE dept for a new chair, what should I be looking for? I want to sit with a straight back, but all the websites I google say a slight recline, which I have and I hate. Also, how can I drive more comfortably?

rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 16:02

really? slight recline i thought would have been the worst position, is this for differs or for everyone? I would try and not rely on the back rest at all if you can manage it, just make sure your feet are flat and your monitor is at or slightly above eye level and yu are straight on to the monitor and keyboard. Maybe roll up a cushion to put low down to give you lumbar support while you upper body sits up.. but this is what i would do if i was undiffed if you get my meaning, it could well be a game changer!

same in the car, depends how you sit but i am always better off with the seat far forward and high up so knees are just wider than right angles and back rest right up with extra lumbar support (if you can fit the bump in behind the wheel that is!!

PerfectDromedary · 06/01/2011 16:08

Cho I have been taking iron pills since the beginning of this trimester. Parasite apparently wants all my iron. I haven't been disgustingly constipated, but I have been consuming linseed or psyllium husks depending on mood.

Amusingly, iron pills make your poo look like you have a Guiness hangover...

Med Ask the HSE department to do a risk assessment - I didn't get a new chair, but I got a footrest, a thing to raise my monitor and wrist rests for the puter, which seemed to sort backache. I do have to stand up and stretch quite a lot though.

Muser · 06/01/2011 16:19

I second the risk assessment advice, that's what I got. They should come and tell you what you need. Until you call them back for the third time and they tell you it's time to go see the doctor.

In the spirit of which, I have an osteopath appointment next Tuesday. I am going to be practiced on by stoooodents! Which is fine as it means it only costs me £20 for about 80 mins of attention.

rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 16:22

nice! i am thinking of going but scared it is going to cost a lot more than £20! HSE should do a risk assessment on you as a matter of course as soon as you tell em you are diffed but they prob won't unless you hound them. Hmm

LadyGoneGaga · 06/01/2011 16:26

Scorps I do actually Blush in an indirect fashion. I evaulate advertising performance with consumers. You may call me a critic although this may be a stretch!

I will second Spatone - take it with OJ to increase effectiveness. But tbh proper iron tablets don't really constipate me too badly eitehr so I took both , probably unnecessarily.

PrincessBoo · 06/01/2011 17:12
rocketleaf · 06/01/2011 17:12

also dark chocolate (70% or more) has plenty of iron in it, and is MUCH nice than spinach :o

Scorpette · 06/01/2011 17:20

I have invented Spinacholate! Spinach choc especially for preggos - sure to make me a millionaire!

Look, they've brought out marmite chocolate; spinach chocolate seems totally sane in comparison...

HalleLouja · 06/01/2011 17:41

Argh I have been slightly constipated since getting pregnant. Not pleasant. Don't think I will try iron tablets as that would made it worse. Have been eating lots of things with fibre in - oh the joys.

Ivegotmrbitey · 06/01/2011 17:53

Prune juice had a spectacular effect on me today halleabouttogettoomuchinfo as did eating an entire packet of fig rolls a few days ago. Feel sooooo much better now but the noises my middle was making earlier were straight out of jurassic park!

cho spatone was good for me when just generally anaemic as iron tablets made me a bit constipated (what else is new?). I mixed it with ribena because you can taste the iron in it and the black curranty goodness masked the blood-like taste.

scorps where can I buy the chocomarm pliz?

Thanks for update on MrsFC immaculatecamel wonder if there will be record number of easy squeezy sneezy (tm) births in that there London tonight thanks to the diffused ESH vibes?

laurielou · 06/01/2011 18:10

Drom Thanks for the update on MrsFC. Plenty of simples delivery thoughts to her. Pliz to let her know she has PESH power with her.

My scan was all good! 30 mins late, so I was nearly crying with bladder pain. Then she spent approx 4 years pressing on 1 area - I was tempted to fish slap her. But Bug measured all right in the right places, saw the internal organs & she said baby's drinking well (I'm surprised I didn't drown the poor little buggar with all I had to drink today). Bug kicked leg out when she tried to measure thigh bone. I reckon its a boy - only they would be so bloody awkward. She asked if we wanted to know flava, but we stuck to our guns & declined. She spent ages looking at the heart, which was a bit worrying despite seeing it pumping away. But she said it was good.

Pics are a bit rubbish though. One good one. Showed my mum - she reckoned one looked like a horse & 1 like Donald Duck! Muchos luffs from Grandma Grin

Medee · 06/01/2011 18:16

good news, Lou!

Thanks all - am planning on asking HSE tomorrow. I had a basic risk assessment when I first started but I was only 12 weeks then so didn't really need anything.

CluckyKate · 06/01/2011 18:16

Am in the same boat Cho and can vouch for effectiveness of Spatone.....don't think you need to be worried right now but is ver good idea to ge the ol' iron levels up to cope with the blood loss that occurs afterwards, plus lack of iron makes you feel tired so you could well feel a surge in energy levels which I guess is pretty good news at this stage.

Sending much good luck vibes Nodnol way - hope all goes well MrsFC

ChoChoSan · 06/01/2011 19:44

Thanks for Spatone advice, bitches. I'll start with the iron tablets the mw dropped round, and switch if I don't like them. Lack of iron might explain the restless legs that have been driving me mad recently.

Lovely scan news lozzzer, and sloppy kisses to Lyra...hope you win your ivf twinzzz,,11!1lolzzz soon!
