Same experience as RP with the bf - my body clung onto the weight until I started to drop feeds. Then by the time I was dropping the very last bedtime bf, DS started nursery and picked up bug after bug, all of which he passed on to me. And I was sooo sick for sooo long that I came out of it all skinnier than when I started. Am definitely putting a lot more weight on this time.

Does anybody else think that there are lots of girl babies being given 'L' names these days? I really like them (Leah, Lily, Lara, Leila, Lola, Lottie et al) and it has put me off Lilah a bit. But it might just be my perception making me 'over-notice' these L names, cos I like them so much.

newgirl - Irving just popped out of a cheapie names book that somebody lent me. Wish I'd thought of it last time. If this is a girl I'm going to keep on trying until I get to use it. Lilah also from a book - I was perusing the Ls. Mind you that I think Kate Moss' daughter is Lila.

We also really like Sylvie, but a friend got there first!

poppyh · 19/11/2005 10:28

spiker,my dd is Lola!!

romilly · 19/11/2005 12:26

wow, that was a marathon read. i havent been able to get on here all week but i have just managed to catch up with all the leaky boobs, 9 squares of toilet roll, birthing pools, nappy talk, car talk, thigh exansion, mr and mrs munz's goings on (lol) - but the best of all was rod stewart in a thong in the birthing pool !!! poor kid, being greeted with that sight as your first introduction to the big wide world!

oh and i am another fan of hot chocolate in large quantities at the moment yum.

as i mentioned in the beanie thread, my latest pregnancy delight is hypertension - and they are monitoring me very closely which is a good thing of course. so i am in and out of hospital all week. couldnt believe my boss yesterday - he knew i was due to have tests for my blood pressure that afternoon - and still shouted (yes... i mean really shouted) at me half an hour beforehand - and all because i was the unfortunate purveyor of bad news that someone he owed money to had called and asked for it. i am seriously thinking i may have to stop work earlier than planned if he is going to jeopardize my pregnancy like this, he really stresses me out and clearly it is not helping things.

right that was a longie, but will try and post shorter and sweeter things this week take care all x

romilly · 19/11/2005 12:28

forgot to say - spiker - trinny woodall's daughter is another Lyla, but spelt like that!

marne · 19/11/2005 12:31

Feeling some big kicks today, baby seems to have moved up higher, used to feel her kicking realy low down but today shes higher than my belly button. Has anyone started buying clothes for there baby yet? Realy want to find a nice cardigin for when i bring her home but not having much luck.

romilly · 19/11/2005 12:49

marne - there was a surprisingly cute newborn knitted white cardi in baby gap i saw the other day. it looked like a handmade one that would normally cost about four times the price in a more exclusive baby shop. had white satin ribbon edging on the little sleeves - really sweet.

munz · 19/11/2005 14:14

rom - u get those feet up girlie! the important thing is u and baby not the boss - tell him to stick it! how did u get on at the hospital with the hypertension? - that's high blood pressure isn't it?

marne - yes I've got loads of clothes, some brought some given, esp now we're past the 24 week stage. MIL has been knittin as well for the past year so lots of knitted cardis as I also did some! lol.

romilly · 19/11/2005 15:03

thanks munzie - hey, guess what he actually called me at home today and apologized for shouting at me! then asked how it went at hosp. i told him if my b/p doesnt go down then i will have to stop work. he'll be in a total panic now on monday i know!

munz · 19/11/2005 16:19

lol - well let him blinking well brood, he has to realise he can't force u out of a job, and u're 6 months PG now u need calm not him going on at u. ((((hugs)))) bloody men - thankfully my boss is the exact opposite - althou if he had his way i'd have a computer station and phone in the hospital bed! lol.

any names yet?

coppertop · 20/11/2005 12:47

Ouch! I laughed so much while catching up with this thread that I think I've pulled a muscle somewhere!

Has anyone heard from Cadmum or Anchovies lately? I keep wondering how they are doing.

munz · 21/11/2005 09:14

caddy's been on the beanie thread - her computer's playing up but she said she was fine.

do u think we're due another thread yet? (best update the stats again! oh no! lol)

Frizbe · 21/11/2005 15:20

Crikey Munz we could well be, has everyone been scanned yet?

Well got into an Argh, 3 mths to go panic today and went out and brought a few things as
I got my Boots vouchers through this am, so got my nappies (complete with free wipes and box) Free change bag, which is whoopppppeee bigger than the last one, so glad they've made them bigger! nice to see the free shampoo as well, last time we had free rattles, but they recalled them due to a fault
got the Avent free stuff too! then thought stuff it and brought 1 x disposable knickers, 1 x maternity pads, 1 x Always Ultra Pads, not that I need them all yet, but I then came home and read Tic tac's post on the feb thread, and someone in her NCT group has dropped at 28 weeks!!
So guess I'm starting to nest.... and maybe not too early?? (was 26 weeks yesterday!)

Rom, glad your boss apologised, but might be worth taking any leave you have on the front of your maternity?

Hope all are well and having relativly good mondays!

Oh and apparently refresher sweets 2/3 of them, are good for staving off heartburn!

Frizbe · 21/11/2005 15:35

Oh we've settle on Neve for a name, or should we spell it Niamh? whaddya reckon?

desperatehousewife · 21/11/2005 16:01

what about Neive friz?

how did you get free changing bag and stuff?

The only thing i have bought so far (and felt really funny about buying it already) was avent bottles and breast pads (as may start leaking soon!!!)

Sorted through DS's old baby clothes last weekend and can't believe how much stuff he had as a baby - so sadly wont' need to buy much (if anythign!) am very disappointed! Got more babygrows than I can shake a stick at. So think it's only right to treat myself to new buggy as there is nothing else to buy for this one.

Am lusting a bit after a bugaboo (how sad am I?!)

RosiePosie · 21/11/2005 17:12

Neve is lovely. I think unless you are in Ireland, if it's spelt Niamh it will forever be getting mispelt and her name mispronounced.

Frizbe · 21/11/2005 18:14

Thanks girls!

DHW I got the voucher from Boots Parenting Club, came in the post am today, buy a bag of huggies nappies, get 1.50 off with one voucher, and then get a free starter pack (incl change bag) with the other voucher!

I reckon go for the buggaboo! why not, 2nd baby needs spoiling too right?!

newgirl · 21/11/2005 18:24

Hi everyone

rom - glad your boss apologised - hope he felt really bad!. Sorry to hear about the hypertension - thats no fun.

I am getting really fed up with work now. My boss is stressed and keeps being grumpy at me although I am working really hard. She apologised too but I am really bored of her!! Also have to get the train to london and its always crowded - we can use first class now which is great idea but it is always full!

munz - i put on weight after dd was born because of the amount of biscuits/cakes I ate at friends houses with baby sat on my lap!!! I was back to normal after 18 months but only because I was really going to the gym - spinning etc

friz - neve is lovely!

romilly · 21/11/2005 20:26

friz - neve is a lovely name, but i agree with rosiep about the spelling, might make life simpler and friz, i totally agree with your very sound advice - i have decided i am going to use unused holiday up earlier so that i can stop at the beginning of Jan. its just not worth risking the babys health over a couple of months worth of salary.

DHW - go for the buggaboo, why not if you've got everything else!

newgirl - sorry to hear about your boss too. even if they apologize it is hard to forget i find. i get the feeling the apology is more to make themselves feel better (ie. relieve their own conscience) than being genuinely contrite. then they dont see themselves as an ogre.

laundrylover · 22/11/2005 11:34

What an enormous thread - can't get through it all as supposed to be working! Am due second (and last!) on March 19th (Tilly will be 2 at end of Feb). This pregnancy is much different then first and baby has been doing acrobatics from 14 weeks and keeping me awake at night. What else about me as a newcomer? Big real nappy fan and Tilly was dry at 18 months so only have night nappies now. Have booked a home birth this time and thinking of a pool but better get my bum in gear on ordering one I suppose...Will try and keep up with the thread now!

RosiePosie · 22/11/2005 11:43

Hi Laundrylover, I have a nearly five year old boy and a just 2 yr old girl. I'm a real nappy user too, using bamboozles and onelife onesizes at the moment, but have pretty much tried everything going over the last five years! I had a homebirth last time and planning one this time too - welcome to the thread!

newgirl · 22/11/2005 12:52

rom - you are exactly right! I think it is really to make her feel better (and to avoid complaints?!) oh well, only two more months to go!

welcome laundrylover!

Lizzylou · 22/11/2005 13:06

HI all, just managed to catch up...

I have almost put on 2 stone, funny thing is, all the maternity clothes that I had grown out of at this stage last time are way too big....I think it is a mega huge baby and my boobs which are adding the weight!!! I am eating loads but trying to be healthy and have been swimming twice a week and aqua natal once a week...not to mention running round after DS! I put on 4 stone last time and lost it all in 7mths...with not much effort tbh, I did breastfeed for 6 1/2 mths.
This baby is very active....constantly kicking and punching...a footballer or Riverdancer I think!
Love the names girls....getting very excited now!

Lizzylou · 22/11/2005 13:26

Welcome Laundrylover...my Ds will be 2 a week after my due date...I'm impressed that your DD was dry at 18mths, Harry tells when he has pooed, but he isn't intersted in his potty just yet! Life would be so much easier if he was pottytrained by the time this next one comes!

romilly · 22/11/2005 13:30

a big welcome to laundrylover

lizzylou - i was so relieved to hear that someone else has put on nearly 2 stone already - i am the same, weighed myself last night... and thought yiiiikes! isnt that what you are supposed to put on for the whole pregnancy And the thing is i have been really really sick for months too, so have not even been stuffing my face!

newgirl - focus on the 2 months! and we have christmas holidays in between i am considering just doing 1 more month, depending on how my hospital appt. today goes - more blood pressure tests and monitoring.

wish me luck!

desperatehousewife · 22/11/2005 14:06

rom i sympathise with hypertension - i have had it since early 20s (swear it was the pill and the stress of uni!) but discovered after many years and many tests that mine is mainly white coat syndrome (how ridiculous!) but the point is it can go very hight which isn't good at all. Also had pre eclampsia with DS so know how frustrating and scary high blood pressure can be. Hope you can get it sorted - can they give you pills? or do you already take pills? Is it an ongoing problem or is it pregnancy induced hypertension?

I really need to eat more fruit and veg. Am surviving on bread/toast and hot dogs and choc chip brioche at the moment.
