Mummynumber2 · 09/12/2010 21:57

X posts. Thanks nurse. Everything else is fine so assuming it's nothing. I'm seeing my midwife next week so I'll ask then.

NurseSnowflake · 09/12/2010 21:59

Welcome expecting

Congratulations Jasmine!! Can't believe you know what you're having ALREADY!! Bet you're so excited :)

Slightly lesser congrats moomin on getting 11 days off work. Pretty good going Xmas Grin

Neenewps I can't remember if you've got other Dcs? If it's not first pg it's perfectly possible you might be feeling baby. And if it is your first, maybe you're just extra doubly sensitive :)

Hope your DS feels better soon Leroy.

I've decided "baby bump" is just constipation Blush Sad Not sure how I can be constipated when I eat as much fibre as I do but there you go. Am going to try some fybogel (Ispaghula husk - bulk forming, not stimulant lax so safe in pg) and see how I, er, get on.

moomin156 · 09/12/2010 22:08

Thanks nurse means im back to work just in time for christmas.....

expectingbabyno2 · 09/12/2010 22:18

p.s is anyone else suffering with a crazy sense of smell? I'm finding it hard to be around any food at all. The supermarket is my nemesis..! I refuse to do the food shop anymore, otherwise I literally gag and look slightly odd..! Placed my first online food shop, fingers crossed it comes otherwise it's baked beans on toast tomorrow evening!

Welcome expecting & good luck trying to keep up with all the posts lol. Blink & you'll miss a lot as I have!!

For those confused over Parmesan, I found this like, hope it helps....

Catching up on the "was it planned" question, I just smile & say "we have always said if it happens it happens".
People are sooo nosey!!
xx

mouffloncake · 09/12/2010 23:34

*link even, stupid iPhone

Quick rant: I had a telling off via voicemail for missing an antenatal appointment yesterday..... I'm really annoyed because they didn't even tell me I had an appointment!! My psychic powers obviously failed!
It was to see a consultant over something. Grrrrr.x

leroy my MW told me to expect flatulence Xmas Shock. Not suffered with it but have constipation. Can't face fybrogel though, since someone on here told me to drink it fast or it turns to jelly in the cup!

Hope you (and your dog and DP) get relief soon!

In suspense now about Parmesan, which I have been eating with gay abandon. That link doesn't work ...

NoMoreSnowPlease · 10/12/2010 08:26

Hello and welcome to the club Expecting. I too have an overly sensitive sense of smell. Last night I threw up because DH was cooking chicken burgers for dinner. My ms has mostly eased off now and only really seems to kick in around strong food related smells. I miss eating properly (though not cooking)

I had constipation too. Sadly by the time I bought and ate prunes and dried apricots and they kicked in properly our pipes were frozen solid. Thank goodness I'd gone out to the supermarket when the worst of it hit Blush.

Oh and how sweet you all are talkig about finding out the sex of your baby. I sometimes almost wish I could find out, but I know I don't really want to know and anyway they don't tell you where I live, so haven't got a choice.

Have a good Friday all. [fbear]

expectingbabyno2 · 10/12/2010 09:37

NoMore oh bless you! I stopped toilet hugging at 12 weeks but like you, I miss having proper meals! I feel really anti-social but I just cannot stand the smell of anything strong. And I am suffering on the old constipation front Confused does anyone know if this goes on throughout entire pregnancy? I def didn't have this with ds.
And.. on the 'was it planned question' despite now being married (we weren't when ds was born) I was asked by sister in law and my sister... grr it really annoyed me!! So what if it wasn't!
Anyway.. needed to get that out of my system, have a good day ladies!

KaraStarbuckThrace · 10/12/2010 09:46

Yes sense of smell is heightened during pregnancy!

Orange juice is supposed to help you go, give that a try?

Welcome Expecting!

My neck is feeling much better today, hooray!

And the snow is melting!

moomin156 · 10/12/2010 09:47

09:43 and still in bed......heaven.

Morning ladies, hope everyone is well today. Thankfully i am not suffering from constipation but i am with leroy on the smelly trump frontBlush thankfully it tends to be in the evenings so dont have to make up too many excuses LOL

Today i need to clean and tidy and do some ironing.......it will be lovely if DH comes home to a tidy house and his tea cooked. thats if i can drag myself from my bed.....

NurseSnowflake · 10/12/2010 09:58

Yeah someone else suggested orange juice. Thankfully I don't have gas (yet, but I'm sure it's only a matter of time).

Anyone else had a nose bleed? I've not had one for years so I'm putting it down to pregnancy.

I am v v v v jealous moomin. My bed is currently giving me dirty looks for abandoning it. Are you working xmas day?

Am off to view some houses and then to work, cross your fingers I find somewhere :)
Have a great friday everyone

moomin156 · 10/12/2010 10:07

nurse....i have xmas eve and xmas day off, but working boxing day ( i worked all 3 last year) and i am working new years eve late shift. So pretty good really.....After all these years you get used to it and i dont mind really. Although i think we may have our xmas dinner at home on the 27th.....

Moog72 · 10/12/2010 10:18

Welcome Expecting

When I got home from work last night I had some lovely news ? had my nuchal results and am low risk so I feel like I can now start to relax a bit and enjoy the pregnancy? until the next worry of course!

I thought that needing to wee constantly was supposed to ease in the second trimester but I think it is getting worse ? I seem to go every half an hour! Anyone else??

Talking about constipation ? what do you think the highest fibre foods are? I eat loads of fruit and veg but wonder if maybe need to eat more wholegrain cereal etc?

Leroy I have had terrible wind ever since I because pg? DH does see the funny side though thankfully! I?m not sure what the cause is of all the wind??!

8rubberduckies · 10/12/2010 10:27

Morning all! Welcome to expecting, and congratulations!

My black mood has lifted overnight, I spent most of yesterday giggling! I remember getting the happy hormones pumping around last time, but swear it was a bit later than 12 weeks... let's hope it lasts Smile. My dad sent me a massive bunch of flowers yesterday to say Congratulations, which definitely helped!

Nurse I have started getting nosebleeds, and got more during first pregnancy; I think it is something to do with us having a greater volume of blood pumping around when we are pregnant? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I have also had terrible wind and constipation; this seems to be easing a bit now, although the nausea all day is still going strong!

Millie that is a really useful link for food, it is very clear, concise and not at all hysterical; the Daily Mail could learn a lot from it Grin.

I am a little bit Envy of you people studying psychology; I have wanted to do a psychology degree for years. I did an art degree which was a lot of fun at the time, but not really worth a thing now, as it is completely irrelevant to the field I am working in.

Happy Friday everyone!

featherblue · 10/12/2010 10:42

Hi everyone! I joined the thread waaaaay back on the first one, but have just been lurking/checking in since. It hasn't really felt real (except for the debilitating tiredness!). But I had my Nuchal yesterday at 12 + 5 and everything looked great, low risks, so I'm ready to join back up!

My sonographer was extremely grumpy though. The little bean would not get in a good position and I have a few fibroids (news to me!) so she spent 1.5hrs actually scanning me. It was actually pretty painful at times - one time she stood up so she could press harder!! Got everything in the end, thank goodness. Just hoping I don't have her for the next one.

They pushed my date back to my original date from ovulation, so I'm now due the 18th. Will add my stats...

Baublepink · 10/12/2010 11:37

Hi all! Fab to see good scan news - Jasmine big congrats on your scan and fab about the boy news!

Those who have been suffering from constipation, the main reason for this I've found for me is not drinking enough fluids. I got terrible constipation last week and my DH pointed out I only have the odd cup of tea some days and maybe one glass of a cold drink but that's not enough. I have been drinking lots of cordial this week because I don't really like plain water, and I also eat apples and melons, the apples get things moving and the melon is full of water too. I'm back to normal now happily.

Oh and I found the bad smell is in direct correlation to how much crap I've eaten Blush ie lots of biscuits, fatty stuff, cheese, crisps, mince pies etc (no matter how much good stuff as well!) makes for very smelly wind Smile it does for me at least. After a few days on the salads, wholemeal bread, couscous etc and only one or two biscuits a day there was hardly any smell at all - a particular relief when going to the toilets at work!

Scan is this coming week, can't wait Smile

Baublepink · 10/12/2010 11:38

PS Hi & welcome to all the newcomers Xmas Smile

8rubberduckies · 10/12/2010 11:49
