moomin156 · 07/12/2010 22:22

Evening everyone......great news on scan 8RD.

Ok.....question for you all. Im 14+3 today and all i have done is retch. Everything has made me heave. Have had nothing for the last 14 weeks so why now???? what does this mean

bananarama05 · 07/12/2010 22:28

Part 5? Bloody hell we talk a lot!

moomin I make myself 14+3 today too but our due dates are slightly apart (probably my useless brain) and I have done nothing but retch for about 9 weeks now, no sick, just retching. Dog poo at 7am is the latest one this week whilst walking the dog, evil! But as to why yours has just started I really don't know, can only think to blame it on the changing hormones maybe?

Has anyone else had many people ask if their pg was planned?? Nurse was it you who mentioned this before? So far this week both my HR manager(!) and boss(!) have asked. So rude. Yes I am fully aware of the fact I am "young" (24) but yes it was bloody planned and quite frankly it's none of your sodding business.....sorry I'm still mainly angry girl this week Xmas Grin

moomin156 · 07/12/2010 22:35

banana no, noone has asked me that question.....but maybe my age and the fact i got married in March helps. Thankfully everyone seems delighted for me.

The retching is really wierd, how people have coped / are coping for weeks on end i have no idea. As i said earlier today, thought we were supposed to be blossoming at this stage and im really not. Looked and felt fab for 13 weeks and now its all going to pot!

bananarama05 · 07/12/2010 22:53

moomin I've been asked that a few times as well lately, "are you going to get married then?" What, with all the spare money we'll have floating around?! Marriage isn't a priority for us a family is, how about you all deal with your prejudices as I can't be arsed Xmas Angry

In all fairness everyone does seem pleased so I really should try and control the anger for now :)

Blossoming? Pah! Couldn't be further from the truth eh Xmas Wink

Right who said they had an industrial sized gaviscon hanging around... pass it my way when you're done please!

moomin156 · 07/12/2010 22:57

Well this time last year i had only been with my 'boyfriend' for 3 months, so i never got that question either LOL and hes now been my DH for 9 months, how life changes eh!!Grin

takethatlady · 08/12/2010 07:57

I'm dreading being asked that if scan goes well next week. In my area getting a permanent job is like gold dust - most people spend all their 20s and a lot of their 30s in temporary jobs moving about the country. I got a permanent job which technically started Sep 2009, but stayed in my old (temporary) job for a year on 'research leave' from the permanent one, and only properly started there this September.

It's a uni and I am exactly as pregnant as term is old - i.e. Week 12 of term starts on Monday, when I will be exactly 12 weeks preggo.

So EVERYBODY is going to assume it was unplanned - why would you get a gold dust job and get preggo the minute you walk through the door?! (Answer: the job is permanent, we have enough security for a family...)

If I tell them it was planned they're going to be Xmas Hmm and Xmas Shock and if I tell them it was unplanned I'm going to have to live with that lie forever! Too polite to tell 'em to feck off...

Today I have absolutely no ms, and my boobs don't hurt at all either - just itchy nipples Xmas Blush and lower backache, which is worrying the hell out of me. AAAAARRRGGGH!

takethatlady · 08/12/2010 07:59

PS - though I had two weeks of vomiting, I also had 3-4 weeks before that of pure retching, and a lot of retching between vomits. I have definitely retched more than vomited, and sometimes its worse. So I'm with you on that one ladies! I think it's normal Xmas Biscuit

KaraStarbuckThrace · 08/12/2010 08:45

8rubberduckies - congrats on the scan!!

Barbielovesken - great news they have brought the scan forward, well done.

Leroy - your MIL is still loonytunes then Grin I think you need to talk firmly to your DP about names - your MIL has no right to dictate names to you - she had that chance with her own kids, and this one is yours!

Another Parma Violet fan her, and refreshers!!

Knackered - would you be able to get an extension if you are struggling when the baby comes?

TTL - yes I have done a lot of retching as well. Awful isn't it!

And I still have a painful neck!

stargirl30 · 08/12/2010 08:49

gosh, I can't keep up with you lot!
Can someone add me to the stats list please? EDD 29 May, have a DD who is 2.

Thanks and hope everyone is OK!

Morning all.......my mom has kindy shared this article of another risk to pregnant women. Thought i would share it but dont want to scare anyone.....page www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1334533/Toothpaste-chemical-leave-unborn-babies-brain-damaged.html
And as my mom said....it was in the daily mail, so it must be true LOL

moomin156 · 08/12/2010 09:51

whoops that didnt work......try again www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1334533/Toothpaste-chemical-leave-unborn-babies-brain-damaged.html

DaisyFields · 08/12/2010 09:54

Hello everyone! I'm poorly :( nausea has returned with raging cystitis and DP's man-flu, so I'm not very happy at all.

Those of you who were talking about the 'what to expect' app, I have it too, found the fruit choices a bit weird. Navel orange this week? That's huge! And the daily tips are a rotation of exercise tips/constipation relief/sex advice. Actually, that's probably quite appropriate!

Hope everyone is well & car troubles are getting sorted. Off to look at your bump pics now. Take care.

DaisyFields · 08/12/2010 09:57

Thanks moomin, we'll start getting disapproving looks for having sparkling teeth now!

Can somebody add me on to the next list please?

Daisyfields EDD 7/06 #1

Thank you :)

knackered76 · 08/12/2010 10:12

Morning all!

Leroy second what everyone else has said but with a bit of luck she will have calmed down by the time the baby arrives.

Barbie not secret at all! I am doing a psychology degree with the open university as I couldn't possibly get to places at other universities with the dc's and dh working late every night. I was a teacher in a former life and thought I might retrain as an educational psychologist but now think I might just keep doing courses as I think I am a bit of a geek and really enjoy them Blush. Am currently doing one on autism and it's fascinating, especially as my brother has aspergers. What are you doing?

moomin snap! I've had very little the past few weeks and then hit 13wks and I retch a lot. This morning it's been all the way to school and back as I think my vitamins must have gone down funny! I'm 14+4 today so hoping it doesn't last long but I also wonder how you poor ladies who have suffered have coped! There really should be a medal for you all Grin

jbells sorry your dp isn't being supportive. I hope he gets his arse in gear soon!

bananarama some people are so bloody rude! If it's any consolation our family all asked us if our 3rd was planned as well a few random people Shock Luckily this time no-one will ask after the last one ended in miscarriage so they'll all assume it was (which it was :))

Right off to try and make the house look a little less like the pits of hell . . . . . and need to wrap birthday presents . . . and christmas presents . .. . and all the other things that come with the time of year arrgghhhh!!!!!

knackered76 · 08/12/2010 10:13

x post Daisyfields - hope you get to feel better soon. Can you wrap yourself up and stay in bed today?

mrswantstobeamum · 08/12/2010 10:22

Good morning ladies,

Let me start with my apologies as I joined this thread very early on but haven't posted during the past six weeks or so. Frankly, all of the posts about MCs around that time were really getting me down. My heart goes out to those who went through that, but reading those posts when I was so far from the 12-week mark was making me really paranoid and I needed to take a break from MN for my own sanity.

I had my 12-week scan on Friday, and the baby is thankfully healthy and very active. We're starting to tell more people now, so it's feeling much more real.

I'll try to catch up with some of the posts I've missed, but as always, it looks like this thread has moved very quickly! I've added my stats to the list below.

Oooh Knackered I'm doing an OU Psych degree too! Guess the date of this year's final exam? Looks like it'll be a busy week for me in June!

I have taken your advice and am in bed with hot lemon barley.

Welcome back mrswants, glad you had a good scan.

TabithaTwitchet · 08/12/2010 10:37

Wow, loads of posts on this new thread already.

Leroy, assuming your MIL wants to be called Babushka instead of granny/nan whatever. My mum said that she wanted to be called the same when I was PG with DD. I was ShockConfused and pointed out that she is not actually Russian. Turned out she knew a Russian lady at work whose grandchildren called her Babushka, and she thought it "sounded nice". I put my foot down, hard, and now she is happy with Grandma Grin (although actually DD says "Mer-mer")

Milliemuffin thanks for starting new thread! as much as I try, I just cant figure out how to do links!! (so wasnt ignoring you Clarkiee Smile).

Clarkiee how are you feeling? I still cant believe you have two in there!!!!. They say that a twin pregnancy is doubled i.e. that you get twice the sickness, twice the tiredness etc.. are you finding that...

Jbells sorry your dh is being such a pain in the bum. Mine was an absolute nightmare during my last pregnancy (despite it being very, very planned) but appears (so far) to have seriously grown up and copped on!! hopefully yours will start to do the same but I do understand.

Knackered Psychology?? wow! I'd say that is absolutely fascinating but really tough!! I always said I'd love to do this but dont know if I have the brain for it, if that makes sense, Im very black and white and factual I'd say psych makes the mind boggle. Banana you too!! am so glad (wicked laugh) that I wont be the only one stressing about exams around due date!! Muh ha ha ha!!!. When will you both be finished? Do you both hope to go directly into psychology field afterwards? (sorry for all questions, just really interesting Smile)

Im in year 2 of my law degree at University. Its 3 years in total or 4 for an honours degree. Kept telling myself I'd do the 3 years but now have discovered if I want to go on and sit professional exams (for Solicitors roll etc) I'll have to have hons year plus Human Rights Law is one of the subjects in year 4 and I really want to do that. Hmm will see. Two nights a week and the odd Saturday (very odd) so its not too bad as my dh has the most fabulous working hours ever to enable me to do it. Your expected to do alot at home obviously, which Im simply not doing, coupled with missing loads of classes over the last couple of months due to sickness, Im really nervous about this semester. I was sooo good last year, despite being very pregnant, I seem to be really lacking motivation this time round and cant understand why..

Anyway am rambling on with another ridiculous length post.

Has anyone experienced this? last night I was really ill, I vomited all my dinner and probably the night befores too (I would apologise for tmi but since we describe colour and texture of our vomit on here, Im not going to bother Grin) I was then sitting up in bed and felt like I was going to pass out for ages, felt woozy, hot, "tingly".. horrible. Also - my hands and feet are painfully swollen each night. To the point that I have to lather them with cream and keep rubbing them quite hard to relieve somewhat, is it a little early for this? has anyone had swelling? (I havent at all in my other pregnancies)

BarbieLovesKen · 08/12/2010 10:56

Doh!! not banana!! I meant Daisyfields (is doing psych degree) - sorry.

Banana people are very rude, I think its an age thing though, apparantly the average age now to have first baby is 30-something and people dont generally plan to have babies in their early 20's - suppose people generalise, make an assumption and presume it was an accident. Im just gone 25, dh just turned 27, we're married with number 3 on the way and I know people think we are absolutely insane!!.
