Ooh muse, I have jobs that are odd. If he gets in your way, maybe you could send him my way?

ginhag · 16/12/2010 17:42

I would have been utterly lost without my mum and dad when I had mooch. Same goes for mr gin. Think they possibly saved our lives :)

ginhag · 16/12/2010 17:48

Oh and ihad always been utterly independent.

But after the em cs, and in the shell shocked state we both were, we bonded with granny n grandad like never before! They are SO close to mooch as a result, it turned out good all round. I thought it would be too much and maybe I wouldn't need it but when they finally had to go it was hard to let them!

It wasn't that long ago we were tribal y'know... 'it takes a village..' and all that [fucking hippy emoticon]

CurlyCasper · 16/12/2010 18:00

hi all, hope you are all well. Been trying to catch up but not easy.

Just thought i'd echo gin. Having mum at my side from delivery room to a week and a half later was one of the best calls i made. It made us much closer.

And minighost, my first and only, showed up at 36 weeks. I both wanted and had a gut feeling i'd have an early baby but i had hoped to make it to 37. Started much the same as mas though: a show and what i thought were BHs.

Sorry for lack of proper catching up, i have a miserable child at the mo.

rocketleaf · 16/12/2010 18:00

ah thats lovely gin and very true re: village etc. But Mum does not intend to bring Dad ("i don't need TWO children to look after" Hmm :() and this all hangs on whether he can be left to fend for himself for 2 weeks, which under the present circumstances, isn't looking likely. Anyway on the plus side MIL and SIL are just round the corner so I am hoping this will bring us closer together as well.

Medee · 16/12/2010 18:05

My mum has suggested the same, but I have responded that I would prefer it if she came after MrM's PL. Not sure if I am looking a gifthorse in the mouth, but think I need to hold her back a bit.

Scorpette · 16/12/2010 18:05

I'm being a bit of a hypocrite, as my folks live really close and I'll be really grateful for their help and advice when the baybee arrives. To give my Mum her dues, she is totally respectful of boundaries in my home and wouldn't dream of taking over or doing anything without my permission - she even asks if she can use the loo or have a glass of water, even though we always tell her to make herself at home. Both sets of Grandparents ignored her wishes quite badly (giving me chocolate ice-cream at 4 months without her knowledge - my first solids - and so on) and she is very conscious not to tread on my toes when I'm a mum.

Mind you, I can kick 'em out after a bit; might do my head in if they were staying with us for ages and that's what I based my advice to you on, Rockin'Robin.

My poor baybee - uninterested gps on one side, obsessive ones on t'other! Hope it'll all balance itself out Xmas Confused

Muser · 16/12/2010 19:10

Sadly, I just can't imagine my mum being the person I'd want if it all got too much. My dad, yes. Although not sure how helpful he'd be with actual baybee stuff!

I am open to the idea I might change my mind in the future. But I still think in my tiny flat, having long term visitors would not really help matters.

Muser · 16/12/2010 22:02

Damn, killed vibe there. I love my mum lots, just, y'know, she's not who I go to in a crisis.

ANYWAY. Every time I bend down I get heartburn. Aint pregnancy glam?

MsFC · 17/12/2010 05:02

Wide awake at 5am. And no chance of a lie in. Bugger. Also, just dreamt I gave birth to a tortoiseshell cat who tried to climb back inside me. WTF???

Orchid12 · 17/12/2010 08:19

HI Guys,

Just running in quickly as MIL is here and I don't feel I should spend time on here whilst she looks after miniO!

Had scan yesterday and squidge was there waving away. EDD is now 1st July. Was fab to see him/her. Hadn't realised I was under consultant led care because of congenital heart conditions in Mr and Mini O (doh!) so took a while longer than normal. It's great they take it seriously but feel like a pampered princess which is a strange feeling (although one I could get used to Xmas Smile). We won't know if squidge has any heart issues until they're born but I'll get good monitoring in the interim.

Come out baybees- when I next log on I want some news please!!

maswera · 17/12/2010 08:53

Well I would love to be sharing some news, but I don't know what's going on... Have been having some occasional pains that kind of feel like Braxton-Hicks-plus-period-pain, but don't really feel definite enough to be Actual Contractions. Have only had four or five since last night. Still getting bits of brown/blood - but not mucousy, so not really sure if it's a show. Also have general backache/pelvis ache/rubbish feeling, but seem to be coming down with something and have a horrid cough, so that might be general bug-related. In short I feel like shite! Wah!

rocketleaf · 17/12/2010 09:06

ohh poor mas! sounds very confusing but also like things should be happening soon? Harsh that you are feeling under the weather as well tho. :(

(also wish I hadnt read 'mucousy' on the last mouthful of warm weetabix :o)

lovely news re the scan orchid Enjoy being pampered and fingers crossed you get that princess treatment and everything is ok with squidgey. Best of both!

Last online present arrived just now, phew, was starting to worry. Looking forward to a morning of wrapping.

Medee · 17/12/2010 09:12

great scan news, Orchid!

eek, at the tortoiseshell dream, MsFC!

Scorpette · 17/12/2010 09:59

Great news, Orchid :) I find all the attention a bit Nellie Olsen too (one for all you secret Little House On Prairie fans).

Rocket, none of our on-line orders have arrive yet (eeep)! Including TYF's Xmas bonus prez from work, which is all he is bothered about Xmas Hmm

Poor old Mas - it all sounds very frustrating and confusing. Perhaps if you are coming down with summat, it might be better if the 'weirdness' drags on a bit (so long as it's all cool for baybee) till you get over the worse of it? Or I might be being tragically confused about this whole birf malarkey. Have some nip tweaks (alternate sides) from me anyway :)

Medee · 17/12/2010 10:06

I'm still waiting on my Amazon order, due to arrive by last Friday! And with more snow up here, I'm not holding out much hope!

ginhag · 17/12/2010 10:11

mas I didn't manage to do that whole 'going into labour' thing BUT what you just described with all the feeling under the weather n weird n shiz is EXACTLY what I have heard lots of wimminz say in the run up to it all kicking off. So get some kip I say...I reckon baybee will be here by the end of the weekend*

*I have no idea what I am talking about, obviously :)

Great scan news orchid Grin

Scorpette · 17/12/2010 10:18

Medee, we must not join in the 'Amazon must die!' hysteria over in AIBU. It's not their fault that there's snow and Royal Mail and other couriers are useless overworked.

Medee · 17/12/2010 10:22

not at all, my mother is in the same boat and our mantra to each other last night on the phone was - we've still another week.

maswera · 17/12/2010 10:22
LadyGoneGaga · 17/12/2010 10:38

Fab news on scan, Orchid. Now you can relax (a bit) and enjoy.

Mas sounds like you're having a bit of a slow and mellow start to labour to me. Try and rest all you can and eat plenty of good, energising stuff. Don't do waht I did and stay awake through the night trying to time contractions because you're too excited to sleep! Not good 36 hours later. Do you have any more MW appt's?

I've got to pop into town at weekend and finish off shopping - not very much left and not much wrapping left to do. But MiniG having Christmas with his Dad this weekend - which seems strange as he now thinks Santa comes twice!

Snowing here now...very Christmassy.

Muser · 17/12/2010 10:45

I'm with gin, masbaby for the weekend. Go mas!

I have either a limb or a head stuck in my ribs. It is most uncomfortable. I have also finally sorted myself out and booked my flu jab for Monday. Bit ashamed at how crap I have been at organising it. Oops.

Finally, I can no longer do up my own shoelaces. As I discovered this morning while home, alone, and discovering my knee high boots have sprung a leak. As I live in leggings, not having knee high boots is a serious problem. And when I say "problem" I am, of course, talking about one of those tragic Daily Fail FirstWorldProblems.

rocketleaf · 17/12/2010 10:47

Well I think your baby will be here before the amazon orders are delivered anyway mas :o (not that I know what I am talking about either)

It IS a bit weird that it seems to be specifically amazon stuff that is delayed. I have had other things delivered via royal mail from other websites with no problems. Plus TB has had things delivered that he ordered after the snow but not the stuff from before so I think some stuff has got lost somehow.

He offered to cancel my pressie and go and buy me something, but I would have to tell him what I wanted as 'it was a bit too late for surprises" I told him not to be daft and I didn't mind waiting til after xmas to get mine. Just drag out the gift giving I say! I'd much rather have a late surprise than and on time demand IYSWIM. (plus I cant think of anything and am intrigued as to what he has got me)

rocketleaf · 17/12/2010 10:51

Nice one muse you just reminded me and they have a slot later this morning. I am shocked as that NEVER happens.
