August 2011....calling the newly diffed.

Got my BFP this morning after 4 cycles of TTC and EDD is 1st August. This will be my 2nd (DD will be 3.11 when this one is due and is a very late August baby herself).I am am 40 yrs old.

Very shocked, but very happy.

Anyone else want to join me for the ride!

I'm expecting my third too, DS1 will be 3.11 and DS2 will be 2 within days of baby arriving. DS1 will be doing 3 days (9am-3pm) at preschool by then and DS2 will be starting two mornings in September. He's desperate to stay there now when we drop DS1 off so I'm hoping he'll settle in quickly, especially as DS1 will be with him and quite a lot of friends' children go so there'll be lots of familiar faces. I will enjoy having a few hours for just the new baby (and to put my feet up!) but having my boys around most of the time too.

My nausea seems to have subsided in the last few days, I still feel slightly sick but not as bad as before, a couple of rich tea biscuits before I get out of bed does the trick until breakfast! I have already put on about half a stone which I'm not too happy about but I've been constantly nibbling on something - usually sweets or chocolate so hardly surprising! I am really tired though and lacking in energy, partly down to DS1 waking up at night scared of monsters and DS2 having his molars coming through so restless at night too! When we were TTC a couple of months ago they were both sleeping perfectly.....

I have gone off coffee and strong tasting foods like curry that I usually love. Totally addicted to sweets but that'll pass, it was maltesers in my first pregnancy and any chocolate in my second so at least it's different!

I have my booking appt with the midwife on Saturday and my scan on the 25th so not too much longer to wait now. This is the first time I haven't had to have an early scan due to bleeding so that's great but also hoping all is well.

Sorry for the essay, haven't posted here for ages! Have been reading everyone's news though, great to see loads of new people continuing to join, it's a really busy month.

I'm sooooo thirsty too! I've had my booking appt today and mu MW has booked my scan for the 27th Jan when I'll be 10+5 ish. Aside from usual scan fears I'm terrified that I'll wet myself as I'm peeing ALL the ime!!! Blush

Just to let you know our scan today was great! This is my first so sorry if this sounds stupid but I didn't expect it to look so much like a baby!! It had arms and legs and hands and feet and its heart was beating away, it kept moving around and every now and then its whole body would seem to jump - nurse described it as a livewire!

It was just incredible, so cool to see it like that... Measurements put me at 11 and 4 so got a new due date of 28 July - hopefully I can still stay in the club though?!

LadygoneGaGa all the best for wednesday, I was very nervous today and it seemed to take forever to get here but so happy now!

Cappucino yes very thirsty, esp when go to bed, but don't want to drink that much as I am getting up 5+ times already anyway! Pint of juice there just in case though.

Aaw congratulations waverley that's lovely! I remember my DH being amazed at our 12 week scan last time that the baby was moving, he thpought it would just lie still and she was thrashing arms and legs and even mooned us Grin

And whoever said it - yes to thirst, constant peeing and broken nights! A pain in the backside...

Am up with you all there re the vivid dreams...dreamt i was Jensen Buttons squeeze at the formula 1 the other day... yummy more of that please... but have had very vivid dreams about DS which have unnerved me to the point i cant sleep again.

Total thirst, and addicted to wine gums. Ha ve felt as sick as a dog the last 2 days and reacted badly to a mild curry my friend cooked the other night.

Talking about weight gain i think i already mentioned.. am carrying a stone more than i was pre conception.. and i was already a fatty from eating my way through the first trimester of my second pg 4 months before, that ended in mc. Gah....

thinking of changing my name to CHUNK!

Hi Nix, yes the sickness is getting easier now. Still 1 hour of really strong hang-over-toilet nausea each morning but I haven't managed to throw up since Thurs. I just gag and think I will be sick... I can keep it in check through the day with specific snacking which is good. Last time it got a lot better from 9-10 weeks (placenta time) so nearly there. I am 8+1!

I was looking up bean size last night and was dead impressed to think it should be 1.5-2cm big now Smile

Sorry you've had such a lousy couple of days, I hope it improves very soon for you.

My dh asked me how big our bean would be now at 10 weeks (tomorrow) but i dont know, it was measuring 2cms at 8.5week scan! Grin

Congrats Waverley sorry, I x posted with you earlier. Can't wait to see my little one properly, saw the heartbeat and a shape on Friday but as only 8w3d at the time, it didn't have much baby shape so can't wait til the next one. I have to wait an extra week now as I am a week earlier than they originally thought.

Re nuchal scan, I have been offered a blood test for downs etc at 16-18 weeks, is it best to have the scan instead? Not sure all the ins and outs of it all.

Got my baby freebies today, very exciting :) Got my bounty pack and Emmas diary pack. Got the vouchers to collect them when the MW came. Even a tiny little nappy in one of them,sooooooo cute (sorry, but this is my first) Grin

Bounty website (bounty.com)also good for having a look at what your baby looks like. Pictures rather than drawings so is quite detailed and lovely. Is on bar at the top of page here x

Klou i am having the nuchal scan as well as the combined downs blood tests. I dont think its one or the other, i think they work hand in hand, unless i am mistaken!

Labours great, lots of drugs! I was high as a kite for mine!! Gas and air had a magical effect!

Klou, some nhs's offer nuchal scanning from Jan 1st as standard, but not all. Littlebeaut I think its about 2 weeks for the test results from bloods, from memory.

I watched OBEM as well. All labours are different, and I think Steph (the screaming lady) is a bit of an exception.

KLou I'm having two lots of blood tests but no nuchal scan -one at between 10 and 15 weeks and 1 later than that). My area doesn't offer the nuchal(free)

Last week nausea turned into sickness for me-hoping it will be 10 week peak?! Wondering if it's foods with beans in as both times i've been v bad was after eating beans (kidney and baked not green beans, love those)
