WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 19:56

i cant get enough of weetabix with raisins and sugar at the min.....yikes! dont normally have it with sugar! And oranges, freshly squeezed juice,

And spilt just for you i have had roasties with apple sauce two nights running Grin

On the other hand have gone right off bread, cant have wholemeal bread, and really funny about textures in my mouth!! Cant stomach mince pies and a cupboard full of them!! Coffee...whats that...?! Urgh!

Today i have had some energy :) thank gawd the flu has gone, the cough has settled down, the scan was fine and i can now relax just a teensy weensy little bit that this pg might actually progress...long way to go yet, but heres hoping and everything crossed!

Georgimama · 30/12/2010 20:05

I made a cottage pie for dinner tonight and the thought of eating it makes me gag. I developed the same aversion to minced beef last time, no idea why. I've had some toast, that's all I can face. Am completely knackered and currently in bed. Toddler and bed ridden husband, are not helping.

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 20:20

Second that GM texture....URGH! Grin all good stuff x

lilacblossom · 31/12/2010 09:17

Great news, StNix!

Nausea tip for the day: orange Lucozade seems to work for me. I've been guzzling it non-stop.

Had my swine flu jab yesterday - and no ill effects to report.

Happy new year to everyone - looks like it's going to be an eventful one for all of us!

CappuccinoCarrie · 31/12/2010 10:10

We're finally home after 10 days galavanting around the wrong end of the country for Christmas.
My pg symptoms are getting mixed up with coming-down-with-a-cold symptoms. The fatigue hasn't really hit, but I always feel sick late morning and the only thing I fancy eating is mini cheddars, and the only drink I find refreshing is cold, flat diet coke.
I phoned to make my booking in appt and the first one hour gap the midwife has is on 21st Jan, when I'll be 10 weeks, so yet again I prob won't get a scan til about 15 weeks as it seems to take forever for your notes to get through the system :(
I'm 7 weeks today, at least that last week has gone a bit quicker.
I also can't face wholemeal bread/toast, the very thought makes me feel funny, but white is fine. I craved pies and pasties and carbs with my DS, maybe its a sign?! With DD I craved fish fingers, but the thought of those make my stomach turn a bit.

mrsred · 31/12/2010 10:20

Hi all.
I'm in total agreement about changes to eating habits, lots of potatoes featuring in my diet, gone off chocolate, which is certainly a first. Sickness rather cruelly starts at 4.30 in the morning! Tried porridge this morning, but not very successful microwave version, so only had about half of it!
In terms of symptoms, i too think i have a col which is confusing things, other than that boobs are swollen, slightly tender, but not as bad as some of you! As mentioned above, some sickness, curbed by having supply oh gingernut biscuits to hand at all times, daren't weigh myself! Read article in mother and baby magazine about sensible weight gain, have decided to weigh myself after week 12 and worry about it then!
Does anyone have a magazine they would recommend?

mrsred · 31/12/2010 10:25

Apologies for spelling mistakes in lost above, col = cold and meant supply 'of' Ginger biscuits, blame dh's iPhone, although does save firing up laptop! Talking of which DH has requested I mention his new found stardom in early morning bringer of biscuits!

MrsStevo · 31/12/2010 11:14

Well, the nausea seems to have made a re-appearance so I'm considering that to be a good thing. Still can't eat much (which is MOST unlike me) but I'm all about cereal at the moment, particularly - like St Nix - weetabix, which I never eat!

Having a NYE party at our house tonight (organised before I knew I was pg). My DH and I have been cunningly plotting how I can disguise that I'm not drinking. Have filled a gin bottle with water for "G&T" and bought non alcoholic red wine and poured it into an empty alcholic red wine bottle. Now I've just got to practice acting merry and I'm all set.

Signed up for NCT class today (very early doors but apparently that's necessary). Now just need to hold out for my booking appt with the mw.

Happy New Year to you all in advance! 2011 - the year of our new babies!! Eeeek!

spilttheteaagain · 31/12/2010 11:17

Wow I've just got my 12 week scan date. 3rd Feb. Fingers crossed I get that far!

Nix glad you're enjoying your roasties. The very thought now makes me go prickly, hot and nauseous. Pregnancy is weird.

Georgimama · 31/12/2010 11:40

Just had booking in appointment with MW, next appointment with her not until 18th Feb which is yonks away (you have fewer appointments for subsequent pregnancies if everything was straightforward before) but I will get my scan sometime in January - appointment will come direct from hospital.

Sick of the sight of the Xmas decs and they are coming down this afternoon!

Georgimama · 31/12/2010 11:41

Just another random thought, those of you who already have children - have you told them and if not when are you going to? I'm planning to wait till 20 weeks if DS hasn't noticed mummy getting fatter by then (and bless him he won't, he's still at that adorable stage where he thinks mummy is beautiful).

Annie456 · 31/12/2010 12:40

mrsstevo I had to disguise not drinking at Xmas as we had 20 people for lunch at my parents house. I had told them so they were in on the act but I made a big fuss about asking my mum if she could "hold my rose for a minute" and then "thanks mum, could you pass me my rose" (it was non alcoholic of course) for the rest if the day people kept asking if I wanted more rose so people had obviously taken notice - although shows how much they know me as I never drink rose!!

Went to the docs this morning to tell her I'd chosen Sy Thomas's Hosp and she replied with "well we can try but I've not had a successful application for that hospital for over a year" - I'm a bit deflated as I had specifically been asked to choose from 3 hospitals..I'll hear back in 2 weeks apparently...fingers crossed. Hmm

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 31/12/2010 13:02

Im not telling DS as i did last time at 12 weeks, just before my first scan and it all went tits up and i had to untell him which was the hardest thing i have ever had to do!

It broke my heart, possibly just as much as losing the baby did!

I will tell him when it gets a bit nearer term, assuming we get there

Georgimama · 31/12/2010 13:09

Yes I had to untell DS last time too, he was so upset. Fortunately he has forgotten all about it.

Firawla · 31/12/2010 13:41

i never really told mine at all last time cos he was quite young, i think i may have started mentioning a bit about babies towards the end, and tried to get him to play with a doll to teach him how to handle babies, but i didnt really announce to him or anything. i suppose this time i will have to tell them cos ds1 will definitely be old enough to understand and ds2 probably will be too as the gap is slightly bigger. but i will probably wait til after 20 weeks or around that kind of time too, i definitely wouldn't tell them now its too soon and i think it will be easier for them to understand with a bigger bump.

KLou111 · 31/12/2010 13:50

Well, told the folks, my Mum (the Midwife) already guessed boo!!!! When we got there, mum said I looked as if I'd lost weight (yeah goodun!) and when I refused a choc chip soft cookie, she knew something wasn't right lol and said have you got something to tell me. I just ignored her and said I am a bit full at the minute.
So just came out and said about 30mins later 'Well, we've got a bit of news.....' and before I even finished, she said, 'I'm right, I know I am!' am the screamed the house down, poor Dad didn't even know what we were talking about!! She thought I'd lost weight through morning sickness, which I haven't had yet thankfully! Even though I have put on 3lbs in 3 weeks!!
She's already been to Tesco this morning and had a browse around the baby stuff, and Dad has been ordered to get the knitting needles out of the loft!!
'We'll buy the pram' I think was the first comment out of my mums mouth! Then said it will be the most ruined baby next Xmas.
PIL are thrilled too, when DH said we had some news, his mum went into panic mode saying 'What? What's happened?'
Told them the news and were totally shocked. I went off to bed at 11:30pm and the rest of them came up at 3:30am after celebrating!!
DH just told his bro (they're in Thailand 7hrs ahead so bit tipsy for NYE!) and they are very happy.
My 2 bro's are also in Thailand on hols, but can't get them, gutted.

Anyway, sorry for long post.
Hope you all have a fantabulous New Year!! :)

xxxxxxx

spilttheteaagain · 31/12/2010 17:32

Aaw KLou they all sound thrilled and very excited. How lovely!

Cadmum · 01/01/2011 14:50

Happy New Year Everyone!

Well done Clou. Sorry that your mum guessed... (She must be very perceptive.)

I still haven't told anyone in our family. (This was made somewhat easier when dh's entire family chose not to contact us over the holidays at all.) Hmm

Our friends visiting from Canada guessed that I might be expecting when I continued to look more and more unwell with each passing day. I actually felt rather Blush admitting it. I know that my chances of a successful pregnancy are not great and I could see that they must think I am mad for embarking on another first trimester of feeling ill all day, everyday despite the odds.

Dh was encouraging me to stay positive and I laughed and reminded him that it hadn't worked very well in the past. I was absolutely paranoid with ds2 and dd2 and they were keepers. I will stick with the plan to remain as ambivalent and realistic as possible whilst trying not to be bitter about the all-day 'morning' sickness.

I haven't really had the option not to tell as I have been showing and into the second trimester with all of our losses. I will try not to tell anyone until after a scan this time but if I continue to feel rotten all of the time, my older dcs are likely to guess.

Hi Ladies, Welcome to new people. Just thought I'd check in really, Iam hopefully going to go for a booking in appt next week so I can get a scan date. I'm a bit worried as I start a new job soon, was offered it before we got pregnant and now i'm worried about telling them!

The thing is its part time so I suppose they will probably know it may be on the cards Its a step upand double my salary so i couldnt turn it down.

Anyway all is good here as far as i know- having a few growing pains i presume but not much nausea today. Diet ginger ale works for me to keep it a bay i think

Anyway i better go as i have my dd on my knee trying to colour my laptop in lol

KLou111 · 02/01/2011 14:47

Happy New Year all, and congrats to the newbies :)

RunDMC · 02/01/2011 17:57

Hi all, Happy New Year and welcome to the newbies (sorry KLou echoing you !)..

Am 10+4 today and keeping my fingers crossed the sickness will stop soon. Being sick approx 2/3 times a day and always worse in the evening. Now at the point of not being fussed about what I eat for an evening meal as I invariably lose it a couple of hours later Sad. At least on the upside I haven't put any weight on yet Smile.

Anyway enough feeling sorry for myself, and glad to be (fingers crossed) still here, and still having symptoms. Got my date through for 12 week scan on the 14th Jan so looking forward to that.
