Pringles have the same effect lilac, it's magic I tell you.

Yes, the real corker was the GP receptionist who told me I should have had it in September when they put out a call for pregnant women to come and get it. And indeed, if I had been pregnant then, I might have done so....

lilacblossom · 29/12/2010 13:07

You couldn't make it up!

MrsStevo · 29/12/2010 13:49

Hello!! I am entirely new to this Mumsnet malarky and, indeed, to the prospect of being a mum!

I have sussed a couple of the abbreviations and think I'll be right in saying that my 'DC' is due 18/08/2011!

Over the moon excited, but terrified at the moment too. We had a mc in May 2010 at 8 weeks and I'm currently 6+6 so it's still early days. Waiting to hear from the midwife at the mo and will be begging and pleading for an early scan, the worrying is driving me crazy and had me in floods this morning. Fretting that my symptoms seem to have disappeared at the moment.

Any hints and tips about how to stay sane until the 12 week scan will be gratefully received!

Georgimama · 29/12/2010 14:12

Sanity is optional on this thread mrstevo, but welcome.

Is a private scan out of the question? Mine was £99 today at BUPA.

MrsStevo · 29/12/2010 17:14

Thanks for the welcome georgimama.

I would pay through the nose to have a private scan now but can't find anywhere near me that does them. Am waiting for the mw to call me and I'll pick her brains.

In the meantime, I'm having a duvet day with leftover christmas choccies and trashy movies to take my mind off fretting!

Georgimama · 29/12/2010 17:25

Where roughly do you live? I am google queen.

KLou111 · 29/12/2010 18:35

So sorry Terrys, gutted for you. Good luck with everything, I hope it?s not too long til you?re up the duff and it sticks.

Welcome and congrats Annie, MrsStevo and additctedtocoffee nice to have new (cyber) faces.

Relieved for you Rugbywidow glad everything is ok.

I am feeling like crap at the mo TBH. Really tired all the time, not been sick, but am constantly feeling like I am going to be sick at any moment, very strange. DH being fantastic even though he is suffering from a cold/cough/sore throat himself, trying desperately not to give it to me! He got me a hot water bottle sorted :)
I had no symptoms for a few days over Xmas and was starting to panic but it came back again Boxing Day. Never been such a relief to get pain!!

Telling the parents our news tomorrow they will all be thrilled, especially as it's the 1st grandchild both sides, but we're still nervous to tell them. How daft is that???? Xmas Blush

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 29/12/2010 20:22

Evening ladies! Well had my booking apt today which was a lot less painful as I thought, although I was shocked at the amount of blood she took from me!! I also wasnt told that she would need a wee sample and spending an eternity in the loos at the doctor's surgery trying to brew one up, only to retun empty handed (well, empty tubed) was a bit Blush I now have what seems a trees worth of literature and booklets to read through, which looks slightly scary! Now counting down the days until the 12 week scan! eeeeeeee Grin

bettyboo83 · 29/12/2010 21:18

Welcome to all the lovely new ladies Smile I haven't had much in the way of symptoms yet either though my boobs feel enormous Wink and have become very tender in the last couple of days. No sickness yet but kind of want it to feel a bit more pregnant! Sorry to all of you who are heaving your guts up and shaking your fist at the computer right now! I'm having my Flu jab on Friday but am a nurse so have been frog-marched there by my boss! Did they do a pregnancy test at your booking appointment IfAtFirstUDontSucceed?

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 29/12/2010 21:45

Nope, no further PG tests, guess they're just happy to take your word for it! Although, she did say that the purpose of the urine test was to check that I didnt just have a urine infection, which can cause the same symptoms as pregnancy Confused, but she didnt seem too fazed when I couldn't "go"!!

Annie456 · 30/12/2010 09:56

Ahhh the symptoms...I feel like I need to carry my boobs around the house with me, they are so sore. No sickness for me yet either but I feel like the bean is trying to pitch a tent in my uterus such is the pain!!! Not sure I could handle morning sickness on top of all that...going to attempt a trip into London today in an effort to make me so tired I can sleep through the cramping tonight and possibly wake up feeling less crabby tomorrow! Ha ha! DH is loving it....!

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 10:44

Ladies, just to let you know i have been to the epu today and its good news!

After having a week of brown gunk..... i am pleased to tell you that i have a little bean with a teeny heartbeat fluttering away measuring 2cms, 8 1/2 weeks EDD August 7th. They saw no reason for what the gunk could be, but possibly old implantation blood.

Totally shocked after symptoms that seem to come and go, but of course delighted.

SAved me £125 on the private scan also!!!

MrsStevo · 30/12/2010 11:10

Morning Lovely MNers, Mrs Fretty Fretterson is here again. Woken up this morning - on the day I should be 7 weeks - and have no symptoms whatsoever. Achey boobage seems to have disappeared, no nausea, no aches and not feeling tired at all. On the plus side, frequent knicker-checking has not raised any concern either. Mw didn't call me back yesterday but I'll wait by the phone all day again today.

Anyone else experiencd this distinct lack of symptoms and gone on to have a healthy small person?

Oh and congrats St.Nix!! Fantastic news!

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 11:25

I have a distinct lack of nausea :) but aalthough my boobs dont hurt they are swollen and veiny with scary nipples!

LadyGoneGaga · 30/12/2010 11:47

Fab news, Nix! Xmas Grin What a lovely feeling - roll on 12 weeks, eh! Got my 12 week scan two weeks yeasterday so just want to get to that milestone now.

spilttheteaagain · 30/12/2010 16:17

Blimey Lady you are racing ahead! Other people's pregnancies seem so quick...

Nix fantastic Xmas Grin

MrsVidic · 30/12/2010 16:36

don.t worry about symptoms coming and going, i had that with dd 1 who is a very energetic toddler now. I have decided to ditch my slimming world diet for now as i'm at target weight but i can't stomach any of the healthy food lol. Went to the gym yesterday which felt good and hopefully will make it there tonight to help burn off all the crap i'm eating. Does anyone else find they have to constantly nibble to banish the nausea! I.ve made myself home made healthy dips and chips which are going down a treat.

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 30/12/2010 17:40

Me either GM walking jup the stairs is about as much as i manage!

littlemisslozza · 30/12/2010 18:41

Totally agree Georgimama!

I also wouldn't worry about symptoms coming and going - it was like that for me with DS2, although I remember it concerning me at the time because I'd had constant nausea for weeks when expecting DS1. This time round it seems to be constant too, I know which one I prefer......!

Firawla · 30/12/2010 18:55

mine is coming and going too, altho nausea is getting more often i think. still not actually been sick tho so i think its going better than my previous too. mrs vidic same here i have 2 keep nibbling things. i just feel like eating crisps though but we dont have any, may have to ask dh to bring them i feel like that will be the best thing to stop me feeling sick, although fattening. i always crave potato based stuff for some reason, same with my other 2. im not making it to gym today cos dh not home to stay with the kids, i think would have made me feel better though in a way. although soo tired, ds2 hardly slept at all and kept me up. so probably will just end up going to bed about 8pm or something

AddictedToCoffee · 30/12/2010 19:25

I has the same potato based cravings when i was pregnant with DS1 Firawla, but not yet experienced any with this pregnancy. One other difference is that I'm really feeling the fatigue this time round - neither myself or DH remember it being this bad last time around - hence my DH thinks i'm putting it on!! Maybe it's the running around after a toddler too this time!

Firawla · 30/12/2010 19:53

yeah its definitely more tiring the 2nd, 3rd time around. when i was expecting ds1 i used to go and have a nap and put my feet up whenever i wanted, no chance of that with toddlers. if i start to look a bit tired ds1 tells me off lol, oh well i suppose is good to stay active
