I am 7 weeks today Shock

Not sure why I am surprised by that but it seems to have crept up on me rather quickly! Last time I checked I was just reaching 5 weeks surely...

Still have no confidence yet in this pregnancy. It's horrible what a loss does to you Sad

Sorry you are suffering so much Run. I am struggling these last couple of days with being seriously nauseous and not able to throw up. I just gag and retch over the loo and nothing happens and I wish it would! It'd be such a relief!

bunnyfrance · 02/01/2011 18:35

Happy New Year all!

spilttheteaagain, I'm like you, I'm now feeling nauseous all the time and wish I could just throw up, would make me feel so much better! Cooking for DH and DS is a nightmare and I've gone off all hot drinks - only cold, fizzy water for me!

Am 8 weeks today and have my first scan at the gynae's tomorrow. Can't wait to find out if everything's ok in there.

CappuccinoCarrie · 02/01/2011 20:04

Happy new year!
I can't believe how fat I feel! I remember people commenting on my weight loss at this stage the other times, but I'm sure someone will guess soon just because of my undone top button - and thats on the jeans I've brought out of retirement, the denim had got too loose!
I cannot believe how hungry I am, the only way to ease the sickness is to eat a lot, and often! I only like cornflakes at breakfast (whereas I normally don't like them) and have gone off all sweet thing, I just want savoury, and try to get two cooked meals into myself a day to keep the hunger at bay. Cold, flat diet coke had been my drink of choice, and now I can't stand it, I'm so fickle Grin.
Told a friend today and when she gave me a hug I cried, hope I don't do that with every person i tell! Mostly I'll wait til after the scan to tell people, but that's at least 6 weeks away yet.

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 20:06

For those nauseous but bmnot vomiting ladies!

Have you tried peppermint? Tea, mints, gum anything that can settle tummy ?

I find it's linked to blood sugar for me anyway, are you snacking? Ie nibbling when you can stomach it? I am quite literally looking in the cupboard and fishing out what I fancy regardless of suitability!! If I can stomach the texture I'm eating it!!

Mine isn't too bad really, in comparison, just thought I would make suggestions for what works for me:)

Saying that, can't stomach peppermint tea myself at the min lol... Anything fizzy works :)

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 20:08

Carrie i an the same re eating a lot, it just helps the nausea so much :)

Cannot stand chocolate, anymore, Gutted!!

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 20:10

Spilt sorry you aren't feeling confident, after a loss it's so hard! Your symptoms should help, ESP as they seem quite acute in terms of nausea! have you thought about doing a cb Digi test for reassurance?

spilttheteaagain · 02/01/2011 20:14

Nix yes it's definitely connected to blood sugar I find, hence why I get it worst in the morning when I wake up. After mid morning ish I've usually managed to get things back under control and whilst I stay queasy it's a lot reduced. I scoff a big bowl of cereal before going to bed but it doesn't seem to last long enough to help with the mornings!

Can't be doing with veg at the moment. I'm hoping the bean can manage with just OJ for vitamins!

Speaking of which, orange juice is fantastic for nausea as it gets the sugar into you really quick. Also it's acidic like stomach acid so I don't find it tries to climb straight back out.

LadyGoneGaga · 02/01/2011 20:15

Bleurgh, Nickster. Mint tea makes me Envy at the moment. Nausea is a bit less than it was, am hopefully starting to come out the other side but still have he rank taste in mouth that makes me feel sick quite often.

Am ok with chocolate though - oh dear.

spilttheteaagain · 02/01/2011 20:19

Too much of a cheapskate to do the CB and also don't want the extra stress of what if it doesn't say 3+ weeks? And then needing the reassurance of a scan that I would have to wait a bit for.

I keep telling myself that it wasn't the first trimester where I came unstuck last time so no reason to think the early days will be a problem now. I'm not bleeding, I feel rubbish so there's every reason to assume everything is ok.

It's mentally very tough though isn't it?

LadyGoneGaga · 02/01/2011 20:28

Very hard, Spilt. I was fine and felt really reassured after my early scan but now starting to worry again. Got my Nuchal scan in 10 days and worried will have had a mmc. Completely irrational but like you say, that's what a loss does to you.

In your case though you know what happened last time, it seems unlikely to recur given what the Specialist said. Your symptoms are good and strong - and you'll be out of the danger zone pretty soon.

Hugs to all those ladies who have had previous losses and are worrying. xxx

spilttheteaagain · 02/01/2011 20:32

Thanks Lady. I remember feeling like you describe last time. Great and reassured after a scan or a heartbeat check but increasingly nervous as the days passed and desperate for the next check up.

How many weeks are you now then?

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 20:35

It is mega mega (gosh I do sound old!) hard after a loss.

Ladyg and spilt you both have more nausea than me by the sounds of it!! Me either re peppermint tea!! Give me earl grey by the gallon ATM! Totally agree spilt, re orange juice! Yum! Sod veg just eat what you can, I've had chips twice today :) :)

Saying that, I have a real horrid cough as a result of the lurgy, and every time I cough, I want to hurl!!

Anyone else got porn star norks!????

spilttheteaagain · 02/01/2011 21:03

No porn star norks here sadly Sad

My boobs do almost nothing in pregnancy though they were fairly spectaular straight afterwards when the milk came in! DH was most impressed Grin. I on the other hand was very sore...

LadyGoneGaga · 02/01/2011 21:26

10+3 - time is speeding back up again. Dragged sooo slowly in the really early days.

The norks gone up 2 or 3 cup sizes, Nix. And they were already a decent size as still breastfeeding DS. But they've filled back out a bit which is nice!

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 21:36

Anyone know how soon the heartbeat can be detected via Doppler? I seem to think the mw listened at my booking in last time at 9 weeks but can't remember whether it was later!

Norks aren't too full, just feel swollen, but uppity pointy horridly expanded nips which make them look porn star-ish!!! Lol

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 02/01/2011 21:50

Giant boobies here - although not quite porn star proportions as they were pretty much like fried eggs originally. Loving them Grin I cannot believe how much food I have consumed over the last couple of weeks,I feel physically sick purley from stuffing my face with rubbish. I feel so sorry for you ladies suffering witrh the sickness. I keep looking at and prodding my tummy convinced that it has expanded, though it's most probably though the festive troughing than anything else! Happy New Year to you all, here's to a lucky & fantastic year to each of you!!!! Grin

spilttheteaagain · 02/01/2011 22:25

Blimey Nix my MW didn't listen for a HB until nearly 17 weeks last time! Maybe yours has better kit.

nickstermum · 02/01/2011 22:33

Seem to remember it was the same apt when I had bloods taken, early on, before scan I think ! Maybe wrong!

Firawla · 02/01/2011 22:36

i thought it was much later than 9 weeks?? i remember it as more like 17 weeks like spilt said but maybe it does vary on equipment and different areas or something?

littlemisslozza · 02/01/2011 22:47

At the 16 week appt both times is when the mw checked for a heartbeat. Struggled to find it the second time (DS2 was at the back of my uterus) so had to have a scan at hospital, they said it was the earliest they can detect it. Perhaps you have better equipment where you are though?

Georgimama · 03/01/2011 06:41

I had an internal scan done privately last week and we could hear the heartbeat that way, couldn't see or hear anything when she tried over the tum to start with (I was expecting that though so managed not to panic). I had booking in appointment on Friday and she took bloods then but that was for blood type, rubella immunity etc not for triple test - I have said I don't want it and she agreed there is no point if I'm not prepared to have an amnio if the risk comes back high. It would only cause stress for the rest of the pregnancy for no good reason.

Waiting for appointment for 12 week scan to come through post.

To those worried about lack of symptoms - apart from a little nausea and boobs being sore sometimes I have very little by way of symptoms - the groiny stretchy period type pains of early days have stopped and I don't get morning sickness. Try not to worry about symptoms, they don't mean anything.

impatient1 · 03/01/2011 10:48

My MW got the heartbeat at 9ish weeks last time for me too nix, she did say it wasnt always possible, but she found it. I recorded it on my mobile :D

nickstermum · 03/01/2011 11:29

Ah thanks impatient, I thought I may be going slightly mad!! I may have mixed up the weeks as it was 3 years ago, could well have been 16 weeks thinking about when bloods were done. Grads thread is telling me 13 weeks and google says 9 so dunno... Seeing mw for booking in so will ask tomorrow x

bettyboo83 · 03/01/2011 14:14

Thanks Georgimama you've put my mind at rest. It's so easy to worry when you have hardly any symptoms and it's your first time. Especially when the first thing people ask when they find out I'm pregnant is, "how's the morning sickness?"!! I have my booking appt with the midwife next Monday so things will hopefully seem a bit more real then, fx. xxx

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 03/01/2011 16:56

Betty, I'm pretty much the same as you. I'm 9+4 and have had NO sickness, and very few other symptoms which made me panic a bit. I think my mind has been put at ease by these lovely ladies, the MW and my Mum who never had any sickness in either of her pregancies. I think we ought to count ourselves very lucky, hearing some of the suffering that others have had!
