Hey Ladies

Allycat76: 34yrs, pg#1, EDD 23/8/2011, Liverpool

Hope you have room for another newbie? And when I say newbie I mean just that - new to this site, new to online forums in general and this is also my first pregnancy (which will make me 11 weeks on my wedding day at the end of January Grin)!!

Thanks to my good friend IAmMrsJones who told me about the site. Somehow we managed to conceive within a day of eachother - talk about good timing. I'll be relying on her to see me through the crazy times ahead (bless her!!).

I want to wish you all the best of luck as you wend your way through the first trimester, and my thoughts are also with those of you who have been going through some really tough times.

I've suffered with endometriosis for most of my 20's and 30's so I'm ecstatic that I managed to conceive after only 2 months. I've gone through a good few operations and thought I had a long road ahead - early days I know but shall remain forever optimistic!

Shall keep you updated on the swine flu/flu jab which I had this morning! Everyone around me has been ill, so I thought it safer to bite the bullet now than wait until after Xmas. So far the only symptom is a very sore arm and hot flushes :) Shall add them to the evergrowing list!

Anyway, looking foward to hearing about your trials and tribulations. This being my first I'm nervous as hell and it's great to not feel so alone. Have a fab Xmas and New Year.

x

happy75 · 22/12/2010 19:40

Hello All,

I had a reassurance scan last week at 7 weeks - saw the little bean, all fluttering and healthy looking. Sooooo exciting! They also dated me pretty precisely which is great so precisely 8 weeks today.

I had a bit of an underwear epiphany the other day - I got so sick of having bra battles with my now enormous boobs that I stormed into John Lewis and came out with the BEST BRA EVER!!! Its a maternity / nursing bra and its it heaven in a D cup. (Bravado is the make if any of you are also in the midst of mammary wars!) Its so unbelievably comfortable that I have to prod my chest every now and again just to make sure they're still there. (and no I don't work for the bra makers!!)

I am now trying to come to terms with will happen to my poor chest - I read somewhere that you can expect your boobs to grow up to FOUR times their original size - that would make me an M cup. I didn't even know you could get that big.......

Oh the joys!

Hope you are all doing well and have a fabulous xmas - and here's to an amazing New Year for all of us!

CappuccinoCarrie · 22/12/2010 20:15

happy what is the bra called? I'm sure I'll need some new ones soon, I've got a great bravado one from last time, but others have disintegrated.
Bid on some maternity jeans on ebay today :)
I'm still only 5+5 weeks, this is officially the most time dragging thing ever, even worse than the 2ww I think.

northeastmummy · 22/12/2010 20:50

Welcome all newbies ... I think IAmMrsJones mentioned she had a friend she was trying to put in touch with MN ... nice to meet you Allycat76. I also have a good friend who's only a week ahead of me and it's lovely! It's also a little bit worrying as she has a lot of testing to get through, but it's a long story. She was telling me all about it today. It's so complex.

On another note, is anyone considering a nuchal scan? I'm 38 so would love to get one, but when I was at the midwife today I found out it costs £250! I don't think I can justify it and will have to hold off for the bloods later on. Just wondered if anyone else is having the same dilemma?

Ekka · 22/12/2010 21:21

Really? I thought they did the nuchal test at your 12 week scan? Its automatic here, you have the scan, the nuchal fold measurement and bloods taken and they do some complicated combination of blood analysis combined with nuchal results to give you a risk factor for Downs. But no cost (here anyway), I always thought it was the main reason for the 12 week scan (and why the scan is at 12 weeks as its only 11-14 weeks that they can use the nuchal measurement to assess the risk). I am very Confused at the fact that local health authorities seem to have completely different rules over something so basic.

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 22/12/2010 22:12

Some hospitals do nuchal as standard so check it out northeast £180 quid last year privately, but from Jan1st 2010 its available on NHS so i would check to see if its available at your hospital! (or move to one that offers it!!)

For example Crewe offered it as standard last year, but at Staffs and Macclesfield hospitals all within my reach from Cheshire they offered it only privately or not at all!

What on earth is an M cup.... gosh i can only dream!! Lucky if my bee stings expand larger than a C!

Goodluck for tomorrow lilac xx

After a 3 day flu/fever i can say my nausea has come back something chronic and i am delighted Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 22/12/2010 22:13

Meant to add that all 3 hosps mentioned above all now offer nuchal as standard from Jan 1st.. sorry not thinking straight!

IamMrsJones · 22/12/2010 22:19

Hi All, and Allycat, glad you made it!!

Just back from a lovely couple of days at Center Parcs. Would like to say they were relaxing, but with 3 DC, 2 of which have ASD it was anything but.
My youngest DD2, age 4 spent most of the time misbehaving and they telling us she was naughty and wanted to be naughty as she liked it better. Then DD1 came down with the lurgy so spent the rest of the time trying to sort her out. Add some nausea, massive, painful boobs and extreme tiredness into the mix, I need a weeks holiday to get over it.

Got home started the dreaded unpacking, made our bed, then turned round to ask DH something only to find he had buggered off to bed as he was feeing a bit tired! (Poor thing).

Anyway, just had a quick look over the last few days posts, good to hear some of you have had some lovely scans already. Will hopefully be having one around the 8 week mark, which was when I miscarried in October for some much needed reassurance.

Will go back and have a good read of the last few days posts now.

Bryher · 23/12/2010 00:00

@happy - dear god I'm F cup already, pre pregnancy. Can't imagine what that'll be like at FOUR times the size!!

@lilac - good luck with the scan, fingers crossed

@batgirl - really sorry for your sad news, hope people are taking good care of you and the new year brings better news.

Getting weird dragging pain in my abdomen, hope it doesn't mean anything. Also feeling very sick, which I guess is a good thing! at least cough /cold is clearing up now...

Take care all xx

BrownB · 23/12/2010 07:10

Hey all. Can whoever does the list today please remove me from the list? Am having a(nother) miscarriage. Absolutely completely and utterly distraught But don't let my bad news fuel your fears and worries. My fingers and toes are crossed for all of you and your little wriggly beans.

LadyGoneGaga · 23/12/2010 08:20

I'm so, so sorry to hear your awful news, BrownB. Just too cruel. So sad for you. Hugs. xxx

Firawla · 23/12/2010 08:45

Sorry to hear your news brownb :(
I hope everyone else is well, i havent really been able to keep up with the thread

is anyone hear still managing to go to the gym? i was supposed to be starting going again and i cancelled it cos i felt soo tired and ive remade it for today but i feel like cancelling it again and just not bother, but then i feel bad.. im feeling quite sick, and really exhausted so just cant be doing with it really, but i dunno. my other 2 keep waking up at night and my husband is ill so has done nothing to help out for weeks now, so really dont think any of that is making it any better.

LifeOfKate · 23/12/2010 08:49

So sorry BrownB, take care of yourself xxx

Hope you scan is positive this morning, Lilac, you should be going in soon, I hope everything's ok.

I'm not bad, not really got many symptoms, my sense of taste has gone a bit peculiar, but I think I'm coming down with a cold, so that could be that, although I am totally shattered, I've never been this tired before.

Hope everyone else is ok :)

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 23/12/2010 09:01

BrownB im so sorry :(

northeastmummy · 23/12/2010 09:17

Firawla ... eh ... no. I haven't done any exercise for what feels like an eternity. I can barely get through the day just now so am not beating myself up too much. I did feel a bit guilty though when the midwife asked if I was keeping fit. We can't even walk far right now as the snow's so deep!

littlemisslozza · 23/12/2010 09:18

Sorry to hear that BrownB, hope you are being looked after. Take care

BrownB · 23/12/2010 10:23

Hope all is well with you Lilac. Thanks for your kind thoughts and wishes.. All as well as can be expected here. Signing out of this thread - Good luck to you all!

happy75 · 23/12/2010 10:30

BrownB - All of my thoughts are with you. xxx

cappucinoCarrie - the Bra was just called a maternity nursing bra by Bravado. It only comes in 3 sizes S,M,L but that seems to cover most eventualities!! I can't bear to wear any other bra so I can see this one wearing thin if it gets worn every day for the next 9 months!

JenniL1977 · 23/12/2010 11:16

Hi everyone,
So sorry brownb, rubbish news.

Had my early scan... Only one in there (boo!), little heartbeat going, measured 3mm. Another scan in 2 weeks. I like the reproductive medicine unit, they really look after you. Will be random at 12 weeks when they cast you off to the normal nhs and everything stops being so intensive!

Off to the outlaws for Xmas, merry Christmas everyone xx

KLou111 · 23/12/2010 11:52

So sorry BrownB, fingers crossed it won't be too long before you have some happy news. Enjoy your Xmas, and all the best for 2011 xxx

lilacblossom · 23/12/2010 12:11

Sorry to hear your news, BrownB. It's really tough but we all hope you have better news soon. It can be so disappointing and frustrating when life doesn't turn out how you hoped it would.

Just to update you all - I have had some good news this morning. Baby is fine, the heartbeat was fluttering away and there was no reason for the bleeding - just one of those things. They dated me at 6 weeks plus a few days, which is about a week behind what I thought. So it's still early days, but so far, so good!

I had a gut instinct that it would be OK but at the same time didn't want to get my hopes too high.

I think the jubilation kicked in when I was tucking into my second breakfast - a good old fry-up - in the hospital canteen afterwards and my fave song came on the radio. Yay!

Wishing you all a wonderful Xmas and New Year and lots and lots of love and thanks for your good wishes.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

LadyGoneGaga · 23/12/2010 12:43

Great news, Lilac. Now enjoy Christmas! Xmas Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 23/12/2010 12:53

So so :( brownb

lilac what a great christmas present :)

I don't know whether or not they charge for the nuchal scan here, but its certainly not routine, you have to opt in if you want it. We've never had any of the tests other than the run of the mill scans as we wouldn't take any action if there was an abnormality with the baby, so there didn't seem any point.

Still not 6 weeks until tomorrow, and still not feeling particularly sick, this is draaaaaaaaaaging! I know that by the time we get past 20 weeks I'll be complaining how fast its all going and wanting time to slow down, you just can't please some people Grin

Exercise? I'm sorry but I don't understand the question Wink

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 23/12/2010 12:56

am with you CC...dragging time and exercise!!

Fab news lilac xxx and great on the fry up too!
