Good grief IfAtFirst what a horrendous day! Glad you managed to get somewhere warm and safe and Envy that you might inherit a lack of pukiness!

santababy2b · 20/12/2010 14:44

Hello, can I join please? Only 5 and a bit weeks. Have an early scan on Thursday to check everything is ok.

Santababy2b: 28years, pg#1 EDD 19/8/11 London

TerrysNo2 · 20/12/2010 15:01

santababy what kind of scan are you getting so early on? Is it private? I have one booked privately for 8 weeks but thought that was the earliest you could get??

Oh, and welcome! Smile

KLou111 · 20/12/2010 15:51

Hi Santababy, CONGRATS! and welcome to the hustle and bustle!!

RugbyWidow7 · 20/12/2010 15:57

Welcome Santababy. Just realised I've never added my stats to the thread so here they are:

RugbyWidow7: 30 years, pg#1, EDD 24/08/11

Really interested to hear about your early scan Santababy...I would love one to quash my worries.

santababy2b · 20/12/2010 16:05

Thanks for the welcome :)

I had a previous ectopic, so was actually referred for an internal scan at 5 weeks. It confirmed that my tubes were clear and I have been asked to come back on Thursday to check it is still in the right place? and is viable. I think it is more normal to wait until 8 weeks, but with my ectopic I was 8 weeks when I realised I was pregnant even though I had had a period as usual.

TerrysNo2 you can book it as early as you want, but are better waiting to 8 weeks if you can as there will be more to see.

santababy2b · 20/12/2010 16:06

Sorry, cross posted RugbyWidow7. :)

santababy2b · 20/12/2010 16:12

Hope I have added myself and rugby without messing up the list! :)

santababy I wondered if there was another reason as I think 8 weeks is the best time to see HB and feel more assured of PG being successful (right?). FX this one stays in the right place for you! Smile

LouBeee · 20/12/2010 16:49

Hello, a bit late to this party but can I join please?

LouBeee: 32 yrs, pg#1, EDD 18/08/11, London

Hope I got that right, a bit new to this.

Got my BFP last Monday - so excited, we'd been TTC for about 7 months. Screamed at DH to get upstairs and the poor thing came up saying "Is the loo seat broken again?" which to be fair is the usual reason I demand his presence in the bathroom, only to find me in tears waving the stick in his face!

No real symptoms yet, aside from what DH is calling my "pornstar nipples" so fingers crossed the lack of nausea lasts as what some of you are describing sounds really grim, feeling really sorry for you.

Got GPs appointment on 29th Dec. Had no idea that this may not be necessary like some of you have found but may as well go now. Ironically it's been booked for a few weeks now to get the results from DH Semen sample!! Lets hope the GP sees the funny side and not the misuse of precious NHS resources in him finally getting round to giving his sample 2 days before my BFP ...

RugbyWidow7 · 20/12/2010 18:11

Welcome Loubeee and congrats to you x

MrsBB1982 · 20/12/2010 18:26

Jeez - why do people smell so bad? Have had to tackle the supermarket this evening. Thought I was going to hurl. To be fair to the mass public - my DH couldn't notice any odd/unpleasant aromas. I just seem to have developed a super sensitive sense of smell. Bleurgh

bettyboo83 · 20/12/2010 18:27

Hi Loubee, welcome to the busiest antenatal club on Mumsnet! I haven't really got many symptoms yet either though I'm with you on the pornstar nipples! Xmas Hmm At first I was wishing for morning sickness to feel more pregnant but I think I'm glad now I haven't got any yet! x

sparklytoes · 20/12/2010 18:28

Hello Loubee, congratulations! Is anyone else finding that they cant think straight?! I don't know whether it is just the end of a busy term or whether this is common. I keep losing the thrad of my thoughts and am convinced I'm talking a load of rubbish (even more than normal Smile).
Its doing my head in, especially as hardly anyone knows yet, so I can't even use being pg as an excuse. Been getting some strange looks at work!

MrsVidic · 20/12/2010 18:46

i had forgot about the heightened sense of smell until changing my dd's nappy - she,s 17 months, made me throw up. I do not know how i am going to survive cooking christmas dinner as super noodles is all i can stomach at the mo!

KLou111 · 20/12/2010 18:57

Welcome Loubeee congrats on your great Xmas news Xmas Smile
Ditto with the nipples thing, thought it was me this morning just being really cold, but they are still there!!
Not getting sick, just feeling a bit 'not right' all day, and peeing, jeez, the peeing!!! That's making me feel ill on it's own!

sparkly glad it's not just me being dim in the head. Not thinking straight AT ALL!! DH said 'I love you' earlier and I said 'I do' instead of 'me too' WTF????

He just laughed and said, your brains not really here at the moment is it?
That's an understatement!

spilttheteaagain · 20/12/2010 19:11

Welcome loubee

sparklytoes my brain disintegrated and fell out with my BFP in June. It has not returned. My favourite moment of ludicrous word usage was when I got frustrated because I had no phone signal. Trying to explain this to DH I exclaimed "Look! It's got the anti-bone symbol!" Hmm

My problem seems to be that I have mislaid most of the English language and am forever gesticulating wildly saying "the... the... you know... the [insert completely incorrect word here]"

Oh well!

wishwales · 20/12/2010 20:19

Hello all - I had my second early pregnancy scan this morning and baby is measuring 6 weeks and 3 days. I tested positive two weeks ago and based on my dates, I should be at least 7 1/2 weeks. Very confused about how far along I am but it looks like August either way....so here I am :)

ddas · 20/12/2010 20:19

Had an early pg scan today at 8+2- very relieved to see 1 little baby there with a good strong heart beat. Size spot on for dates. Had been a bit worried as my symptoms had decreased massively in severity couple of weeks ago and was starting to think something had gone wrong. Can now start to feel excited again!!!
Welcome to all the newcomers- august is turning out to be a popular month!!!

*put the wrong year! guess i am having those issues with absent mind as well

LifeOfKate · 20/12/2010 21:16

Welcome to newcomers :)

I had my blood test to confirm pregnancy at the doctors and called back today for the results, which (surprise surprise) was positive! Hmm :o So have finally been 'allowed' to book my booking appointment with the midwife for 10th January :) I've decided that this is a good time of year to go through the dreaded 1st 12 weeks, as Christmas and New Year are in the midle, so definitely taking my mind off the wait and will hopefully make the time go a bit quicker! Am very Envy of those having early scans, we can't afford to go private.

Ekka · 20/12/2010 21:28

The only way you get an early scan on the nhs is if you aren't sure of dates (like me Blush). I went for my booking in appt today and they offered to request an early dating scan - the mw suggested it would be a good idea because if I am 1 month ahead of where I think (unlikely but potential) then I could miss out on the nuchal fold testing (can only be done when the foetus is 10-14 weeks apparently). So we have requested one and we'll see what happens.

For those worrying about lack of symptoms or not feeling sick, I've not been/felt sick in either of my 2 pg prior to this (and none so far this time either - fingers crossed). I think I read somewhere that less than 50% of women actually have morning sickness in pg (tho that might mean are actually sick, rather than feel sick!). In fact my only symptom has always been feeling totally shattered. In a way I'm keen to have the dating scan just to see whats in there!!!

Teladi · 20/12/2010 21:37

Hello everyone, yet another newbie for the list! Got my BFP on Thursday. This is my first pregnancy and I'm very excited. Low on symptoms for the moment (which is probably good) - but do have sore boobs!

I've attempted to add myself and the other people who have posted recently to the list... hope I haven't messed it up.

Hi Ekka you can also get an early scan on NHS if you have any bleeding or pain as they will want to rule out an ectopic and make sure baby is in the right place and doing ok. I had early scans in all my pregnancies on NHS for those reasons.

However, this time had no bleeding (touch wood) so shelled out for private scan which I had yesterday. And...there was definitely a baby in there! Measuring pretty much spot on (one day out) for 8+4. Strong heartbeat and baby was actually moving and you could see the little limb buds. Feel very reassured.

Congrats on your scan ddas!
