Evening all

Welcome CappucinoCarrie, so will that be 3 under 4 for you?? Wowzer - that's impressive! Smile

bunny what is a breast abscess? It sounds horrid and you must be gutted that it is forcing you to wean DS. Sad How old is he? DS weaned at 19 months but it just sort of happened one day when he didn't ask for it so I decided it was time but I still really miss it now. You have to make up for it with lots and lots of cuddles! Smile

vikm FX that your spotting is not a bad sign - I have heard lots of people spotting during PG. Keep us updated!

Batgirl welcome too - after 3.5 years you must be chuffed!! Is it your first PG? I hope you come back soon after you have pinched yourself a lot! Grin

wheresmytractor OH MY GOD, as someone once said "I've got nipples like bullets" - I remember this from my last PG and they are literally frozen cold unless I sit with my hands over them, which is not so practical when out and about! Blush I hope your DS gets better soon, IME they tend to bounce back quicker than we do.

Grin
littlemisslozza · 18/12/2010 07:51

wheresmytractor sorry to hear that your DS2 is poorly, I hope he is better soon and you get to catch up on your sleep. In answer to your question I teach secondary science.

Congratulations to all the new ladies who have joined, this is a really busy group!

Hi there - am an occasional visitor (more commonly a lurker to be honest), and have an estimated due date of 02/08/2011. I would like to join you lot if possible - I would put a new stats entry, however the last time I tried this, my computer chewed it up and spat out something long and incomprehensible...

So, if some kind soul was adding to the list...

Welcome everyone.

Had our Christmas party yesterday and I do believe I will be the only one feeling fine this morning! I nursed a glass of wine for about 6 hrs I would say and had a couple of diet cokes cunningly in short glasses with lots of lime so could easily be mistaken for bacardi and diet coke.

Just updating the list for the queue jumpers on August 2nd!

Well my DH went out on his work's do last night (and is still not back! Good job I knew he was staying over to shield me from drunken inanity) and I feel crap this morning! I have been teaching classes where 8-10 kids were off ill so it's no surprise I caught the lurgy really; I'm coughing and achy, and I can't even take anything, can I? And the only worse thing than being ill and pregnant is being ill and pregnant when no-one knows so you can't even get sympathy!

spilttheteaagain · 18/12/2010 14:18

coastgirl you can have paracetamol. (No consolation I know as it is a crap painkiller!)

I am eating like a horse just now, absolutely ravenous. If this baby doesn't stick I shall be fat and miserable Sad

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 18/12/2010 15:09

Hi Ladies, can I tentativley join [waves to all the familiar Charters]. I'm now 7+3 and am very nervous! Have been TTC for over 3 years, and one early MC in March. So far, I am feeling OK, no sickness, very little nausea and only slightly tired which I can't help but feel concerned about. Could someone add my details to the list, as my laptop is kapput, and the list will endup all over the shop Grin .... IfAtFirstUDontSucceed: 31 years, pg1, EDD 03/08/10 Northumberland

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 18/12/2010 15:19

Morning all.

My head was down the loo first thing this morning, my coffee tasted like an old ashtray, I feel totally exhausted and crotchety today after a mammoth week and not much sleep. I have gorged on stodge and am roast potatoe stalking spilt as all i can think of is roast potatoes and apple sauce, with the odd bit of brocolli chucked in for good measure!

Norks are totally painful, and covered in stripes!

Oh its all fab Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

Has anyone else got an achy uterus?! I am still terrified, on knicker watch and worried but the symptoms are making it more reassuring Xmas Grin

brownb do i recognise you from MC/TTC thread or am i imagining it?! (i am the artiste formerly known as nickstermum in christmas disgiuse)

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 18/12/2010 15:22

littlemisslozza I see we share an EDD and you are not too far away from me in Shropshire! we are Cheshire. Nice to 'meet' you!

spilttheteaagain · 18/12/2010 15:47

Yo IfAtFirst good to see you Smile My, 7+3 time does fly!

Nix tuts at half measures... broccoli does not qualify as stodge (unless roasted in dripping) Grin

Had more roast spuds and parsnips for lunch today. The Wii tells me I have put on 3 pounds this week

4+6 today! 5 weeks will feel like an achievement - well it is an eighth of the way there!

bettyboo83 · 18/12/2010 16:18

Mmm, you're all making me want roast potatoes now! Is anyone taking vitamin D supplements? It's my first pregnancy and I'm not seeing the midwife until January to check with her (or him?) xxx

Firawla · 18/12/2010 18:26

I remember i was told in my first pregnancy to take vitamin D and folic acid, but then I just started buying pregnacare as its easier everything in the one box but i think yes vitamin d and folic acid are the ones you want and vitamin a is to be avoided, so thats why we are not supposed to be taking any "normal" multivitamins unless aimed @ pregnant people

welcome to any more new people in the thread, there seems to be loads i am losing track. i think august is always quite a popular month for babies??

northeastmummy · 18/12/2010 20:01

I'm in the north east of Scotland Capuccino ... thinking of changing my name to make it less confusing but can't think what to. I actually quite like fitlike but wonder if people might find that confusing too??

I'm a bit overwhelmed and unable to acknowledge everything that's going on - it's all a bit busy on here! However, I think there's a general trend of people starting to feel more symptoms. I felt really nauseous all day today and now just feel bloated and huge. Like others, I'm very happy with all that Xmas Smile. I went to Asda today and bought some new cheap tops that will cover my ever expanding middle.

I have an achy uterus Nix. It feels a lot harder quicker than ever before too!

Welcome to all the new BFP's!

Batgirl80 · 18/12/2010 20:45

Terrys No its not my first pg, have had an mc before, partly why I'm still in denial I think.

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed It sounds like we are in a similar situation, 3yrs+ ttc andI don't really have any pg symptoms yet either which is really bothering me. I'm desperate to start feeling sick!

Georgimama · 19/12/2010 07:21

Morning ladies. Any first timers with no morning sickness, really don't worry. I don't think I was ever actually sick when pg with DS and the nausea tended to be later in the evening. This time I've had a bit but not much. I also have crampy period type feelings which send me skuttling to the loo to check myself about every 20 minutes (note to self - buy shares in Andrex) and DH keeps reminding me it was exactly the same with DS. It was over four years ago, I can barely remember!

Got private scan on 29th and midwife booking in on 31st. I was offered a scan on 23rd but chickened - if it's bad news I don't want to know 2 days before Christmas.

Hope you're all keeping safe and warm and keeping away from the ice out there.

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/12/2010 08:52

terry DD will be 4.4 and DS will be about to turn 3 when this one comes. My first two are only 17m apart which was brilliant, they get on like a house on fire and are quite independent really. DD will start school two weeks after baby comes so I'll only have two at home. [grasping at straws to make three small children sound like a more manageable possibility]

batgirl I know what you mean about disbelief, that was me with DD as we'd had a long wait and a mc before getting pg with her, I never quite allowed myself to embrace it and connect with her. Hopefully as you start to bloom you'll be able to relax into it.

This is the first morning I've woken up feeling sick (am 5+2) and now ohanotherone has made me crave chips and gravy and its not even 9am! Grin

CappuccinoCarrie · 19/12/2010 09:00

Hee Hee NEMummy I'm a southerner compared to you!
Actually I am a southerner living ooop north but with a northern DH and northern DCs I live in denial Grin

wonderfox · 19/12/2010 11:12

Hello! I'm in the first-time club, due 13 August. New to everything and pretty clueless. Went to the GP for the first time and was given no information, didn't even confirm the pregnancy. I've since switched GPs so should be getting things rolling this week (first appointment Monday). Looking for any help I can get--we've decided not to tell anyone until the 12 week mark, and my family is based in the US so I'm a bit far from my automatic support group. Hopefully Mumsnet can be my virtual support!

Firawla · 19/12/2010 11:28

welcome wonderfox & congrats, i think i have same due date as you
i have found GP normally dont do a lot really they just refer you to the hospital? with my 1st i did feel @ the beginning like i was hardly seeing any dr or midwife or anything and you wonder whether you should be seeing them a bit more, but theres not that much really until nearer the end then u see them a lot more

WhenStNixgotstuckuptheChimney · 19/12/2010 12:54

Anyone know whether paracEtamol are ok during first trimester?

Georgimama · 19/12/2010 12:58

From memory MW appointments are about every 4 weeks until about 20 weeks, then every fortnight and then near the end every week. And I seem to remember something in my notes suggested they would be even less frequent for subsequent pregnancies, if you had a straight forward first one.
