Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
motherofsnortpigs · 01/12/2010 15:45

O am really sorry about that. I thought he had deleted everything, but it would seem that he had used the space bar.

My dad rung to ask complicated questions about herbs...

motherofsnortpigs · 01/12/2010 15:45

Oooh look Xmas Smile

It's nearly Christmas!!!

sasamaxx · 01/12/2010 16:06

Cool! Xmas Smile

santamaxx · 01/12/2010 16:13

Cannot believe I just cried at Home Alone Xmas Blush

takethatlady · 01/12/2010 16:16

santamaxx like the name change.

Don't worry about crying at Home Alone. My DH cried at Elf and he wasn't even pregnant Xmas Grin

Plus, once he cried at Elf it opened the floodgates. He cries at everything now - adverts, films, TV, soppy songs. And all because of Elf!

8rubberduckies · 01/12/2010 16:24

My DP caught my pg hormones last time around and used to have "Cryday" instead of Friday, because you could guarantee he would have a couple of ciders on a Friday night and end up getting all over-emotional about something that was pathetic even in my hormone-addled eyes [stone-hearted-witch emoticon].

knackered76 · 01/12/2010 16:39

Grin at your message motherofsnortpigs

LisasCat · 01/12/2010 17:02

On ugly babies (well Leroy started it, miss, t'wasn't me, I don't make fun of ugly babies, not me)...when I was pg last time, I was walking down the street when I suddenly saw a really, really odd looking baby. The kind that you just can't quite believe all the maternal love in the world could blind a mother to the fact that her baby looks weird! So I rang DP and said "oh my god, what if our baby is really ugly, what if I just really can't ignore the ugliness and don't bond with her?" to which he replied...... "deal with it love, all babies are ugly". Bless him. Glad that loving instinct kicked in once she was born!

8rubberduckies · 01/12/2010 17:05

Some babies are just plain weird looking - all babies, though, are the most gorgeous baby ever in their parents eyes Smile.

neenewps · 01/12/2010 17:16

I always wondered that 8RD... :o

catherineps · 01/12/2010 17:40

I would so cry in Home Alone. I actually cried in Meet the Parents the other day as well.

Did anyone else watch the Natalie Cassidy thing? Her baby was so ugly to start with but it was cute after a few days - just think ugly duckling.

santamaxx · 01/12/2010 17:58

Phew - glad I'm not alone in the crying thing.
Home Alone is actually so sad - poor little boy left behind Sad

Mummynumber2 · 01/12/2010 18:56

I've not read today and have just found out Cep's bad news. I feel genuinely gutted about it. I'm so sorry. Sad.

I'll come back a bit later when I've got my head round it. Hope everyone else is ok.

knackered76 · 01/12/2010 19:17

To be honest santamaxx I'd leave mine at home to if they were like him Grin

When I had dd a friend was in hospital at the same time. She wheeled in her small baby (mine was 8lbs 4.5oz) and put her next to my dd. Mine looked like a monster next to this tiny thing :) I have seen some odd looking babies, but generally they have turned into very cute toddlers and older children, and hey as long as the parents love them! All ours of course will be gorgeously cute Grin

Right, off to get changed and out for a curry . . . .yummmmmmmmmm (although judging by the fact I have managed to put on half a stone in about 4 days maybe I should stick to fizzy water)

Clarkiee · 01/12/2010 19:37

Thanks snortpigs I'm hoping to get through a couple days of Summer term but might not make it that far. I have the loveliest class this year. Parents are great too (hope they aren't too annoyed they are in year 2, and they've not had the same teacher for all three academic years due to pregnancy).

Hardly any bloody snow where I live- would love a day infront of the fire Envy

BarbieLovesKen · 01/12/2010 19:57

Hi all,

Hope everyone is well. Still thinking of Cep Sad.

So, completely snowed in here since yesterday morning!! dds school was closed yesterday and today and I've just got a text from the principal to say it wont re open until Monday morning. DH cant go to work. All his gigs have been cancelled anyway due to weather and military transport is completely grounded.

We're in the middle of nowhere, small windy country roads and loads of hills. 3 of us spent all day yesterday making the best snowman ever.

Luckily we'd done a big shop Monday evening so we've loads of yummy stuff in to eat and had just got a fill of oil.

Thanks a million by the way to whoever suggested karvol for ds, bought some Monday and its worked a treat - as has raising the base of cot slightly with books!! cant beat other parents for advice, hey?

Huge congratulations on scans Smile Knackered I am so Envy enjoy yourself!!!.

On the dog front, I have a St. Bernard and a Springer and dont worry at all about them with new baby. They are adorable, gentle, (stupid) dogs and I brought the home as small pups themselves so they've grown with dd and are very used to small people. That said, I obviously would never trust any animal on their own with kids. We've a stupidly huge garden, about an acre and a half I think so our dogs spend most of their time outside anyway. They are very protective of the kids.

Still thinking of Cep too. Hope you're bearing up today Cep (as well as you can be under the circumstances Sad)

catherineps aww, I thought Natalie Cassidy's baby was really gorgeous from the start! Most babies look a little bit crumpled for a few days or weeks after the birth but I thought Eliza was a beautiful baby and didn't even look crumpled. I got the most awful picture of someone's 6wo baby in the post once - looked like a creased gnome with screwed up eyes and pointy ears (honestly). Fast forward to 6mo and he was stunning and still is a gorgeous looking boy (model looks). You never can tell how they're going to turn out!

Fab news re your scan knackered! Smile

Barbie your place sounds idyllic, and the perfect place for children! All that space for running around, garden toys, den building, camping out in the garden, garden parties.... [looks out of window at own postage stamp garden] sigh... (at least I have a garden, I am grateful really!)

BarbieLovesKen · 01/12/2010 20:46

Thank you Balletpink Smile suppose its something we take for granted over here as most have a huge garden. That said, its a bit of nightmare if your anything like me i.e. completely useless/ disinterested in gardening. Plus the lawns are huge and take absolute hours to cut every week during the summer. We cant afford a ride on lawn mower right now and sometimes borrow FIL's but he lives 30 mins away and its such a hassle to collect/ drop off. Then spraying for weeds is a nightmare - ah, Im an ungrateful cow, arent I?

I do love it really and your right, dd has swing sets and tree houses and trampolines etc all over the place but we never have to worry bout space plus we had some brilliant piss ups family barbeques last summer.

Am really fed up about my scan. As I said before I finally got my letter, dating my scan for December 20th, which would put my "12 week" scan to be done at 17 weeks, 2 days pregnant. Cant make the scan as its first day of new job transfer, tried to change and nope! also, consultant isnt holding his clinic Chrismas week or the first week of Jan so she said to expect something in the middle or end of the month.

Therefore, roughly, Im going to have my 12 week dating scan at 21 - 23 weeks pregnant and no anomoly scan. Great. Im going to have to book and pay for another private one, arent I? I really could do with some reassurance. I know I seen heartbeat etc at 8-9 weeks but following some of the news on here I need another one. What do you think?

Im really fe

NurseSunshine · 01/12/2010 20:51

They all seem to look a little like aliens for the first week or two. I always think they just look slightly p*ed off at being in this big, hard, bright, uncomfortable world when they've been used to a lovely warm, dark, soft place.

NurseSnowflake · 01/12/2010 20:55

By the way, happy december everyone Xmas Smile

Balletpink · 01/12/2010 21:04

That is shocking Barbie. I would be furious. you've been more than patient but it is most definitely YOUR turn now!

I would ring them tomorrow morning and say you will ring them on the hour, every hour, until you get an appointment that is within the next two weeks at the very latest. How can they book other scans in on time knowing yours is still outstanding?! What an insult to be suggesting January, which would not only overshoot the original 12 wk scan by an amazing 10 weeks but also the very important 20wk anomoly scan!

Can you ring your doctor and explain and see if he/she can intervene with the MW on your behalf? (My doctor is v good at this sort of thing Smile). I cannot believe they can't squeeze you in somewhere. They are just hoping you'll go away quietly. Of course they can fit you in, even if it means chipping a bit off their lunchtime. I know of hospital workers who can get scans from the scanning department pretty much whenever they want, so if there's time to fit colleague pals in, there must be a "spare" 20 mins for an essential scan. Oh and you want the 12 week scan asap AND your 20 week scan at the right time! It's not being greedy, it's simply having what is rightfully yours anyway!

Ooh I am cross on your behalf! It's not fair. You are having to fight for the basics and that's not right or fair!

Baublepink · 01/12/2010 21:08

Yes, Happy December everyone! Xmas Grin

NurseSnowflake · 01/12/2010 21:12

Sorry Barbie totally missed you post there. That is outrageous and as Balletpink says, I am SURE they can fit you in. How on earth are they justifying themselves? Call them again, and keep calling until they give you what you're entitled to. You cannot be expected to forgo such important scans. Your midwife should be fighting your corner and advocating for you, that's her bloody job!

Mummynumber2 · 01/12/2010 21:42

Is anyone a size 8 - 10? Firstly I'd like to say I deeply hate you Grin. Secondly, I've been given a load of maternity clothes that seem to be in quite a large range of sizes. (the lady that gave them to me had twins so I'm assuming she started very small and ended up very large!). There's a few things that are too small for me, pair of jeans, linen type trousers and quite possibly a couple of other things. If you want them pm me your address and I'll post them to you (dp can be naughty and post for free from work). I'll only give to charity shop if nobody wants them.

Sorry, not really been able to keep up with the conversation today. Will try tomorrow.

moomin156 · 01/12/2010 21:49

Evening everyone......congrats on scan knackered
