That floats on high o'er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd
Of cackling, quaffing, ne-er-do-wells

Pull up a seat, grap a glass of vino and a piece of sushi, it's Delitime again.

Just popping in to say a big hello to mummymoo just read your birth story over in the spa and its had me in tears so no wonder you had to blart! Sounds like you went through a very tough time with amazing resilience, so glad you are now settled at home and loving it :D

Sorry to everyone else for being out of it this week, have been keeping up on phone but not posting as pretty intense work week and been in quite a bit of pain. Off to the docs in a bit but but I am not holding out much hope they can actually do anything.

score skills on the speed writing, fingers crossed you get some wodge.

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 11:07

Rocket, if your pain is connected with the sickness, it sounds like you have the same thing as me - severe acid reflux. Is the pain in your upper stomach? If so, please mention it to them (aaargh, youn might have seen them by the time I write this!). I hope you can get some safe drucks that works :)

Talking of my reflux ishoos, I have to go and have blood tests for liver failure on Monday am because I've still got terrible pain and am already on the strongest dose of anything you can give a preggo for it. Happy happy, joy joy! Sad As a boring non-drinker, this somehow strikes me as extra unfair!

Big snogs to mah PESHes who are suffering today. Lorra lorra crony differds feeling v rough at the mo and me no likee Angry

rocketleaf · 19/11/2010 11:19

Eeep score I hope its not your liver. I am so :( to hear the pain is back with a vengeance, thought you had it whipped.

Doc thinks same as me, that it's Gall stones, I REALLY don't think it's acid reflux, as i have had it before and its not the same. Pain is too localized right where my gall bladder is, no burning, no nasty taste. And I haven't been voming or even feeling very sick apart from the odd attack of heaving. He put me in for a scan which could take up to 8 weeks to come through Hmm may as well just do my 20 week scan at the same time! TBF its a bit of a moot point as there's not much they can do. I can have paracetamol when pregnant apparently but I'd really rather not take anything so guess I just have to put up with it and go on a low fat high fibre diet. Problem is I had weetabix with semi skimmed milk this morning and I've still got pain. Can't get much higher fibre than that. sorry winge winge.

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 11:51

Fucking hell, gall stones is shit. Sad You poor old stick. Can't believe it takes up to 8 weeks for the scan results to come through - surely with a scan they see instantly, or am I being fick?

Am sceptical about how much diet can help after a certain point - I already obeyed all the rules for avoiding reflux without even realising it and I'm still feeling rough! But keep it up anyway, as it might be worse not on that diet. Gah, it's all so crap, innit? As I say to TYF, I knew I'd feel shitty a lot in pg, but I didn't realise I'd be in massicve pain every day Angry

Off to hobble round town to buy him some birthday pressies - is his birthday today but have felt too ill to go shopping for weeks!

rocketleaf · 19/11/2010 12:01

Sorry I probably wasn't clear, I meant 6-8 weeks to get the appointment for a scan, to confirm if it IS gall stones or not. Results will be instantaneous same as with a bambino, I spose. Eating fatty food does seem to make it worse, anything that makes the gall bladder work I guess. MOST things on the don'ts list I don't really eat anyway but cake and biscuits is on which is POO :( Plus I don't think curry would be a good idea either, and I've been REALLY looking forward to getting to a point when I fancied one again after MS put me off. OH well. Spose it will help me not put as much weight on

Hope you find a nice gift for TYF, i am making myself go into town to buy some new bras, not looking forward to it but its not the kind of thing you can buy on line and its only going to get worse in the run up to xmas (bah humbug)

LadyGoneGaga · 19/11/2010 13:17

Sorry you both feeling rubbish, Scorps and Rocket. Is shit there is nothing they can do for you, Rocket. Can't they do something clever with local anaesthetics and keyhole surgery?

It might just be one of those things that suddenly resolves itself due to weird preggo hormones when you least expect it?

And that sucks about potential liver, *Scorps? I had high hopes for your new drugs. Could the pain be down to the older reflux damage then? Maybe once has a bit of time to heal with the drugs it will dissipate a lot?

Well nearly the end of the first preggo workig week. Am knackered, not concentrating at all. Burst into tears last night because Tesco Toddler magazine suggested I might like to take mince pies to the old folks at Christmas with my toddler. Inexplicably moved me rather a lot. Also cried at end of Toy Story when Andy gets Buzz and Woody back. This is hitting me WAY earlier than it did with MiniG when I was still blithely on a girls holiday in Turkey sinking vodka shots at this point, blissfully unaware of what was to come!

Lovely birth story, Honeymoo. Bar the huge bleed it sounds like your body really took over. I agree take loads of time to rest and try to eat lots of iron rich food as well as your supplements. You can also ask your Doctor for liquid iron as tablets (while cheap) are actually quite hard for the body to process and actually not taht efficienty. They can prescribe a liquid form that should work better (although is more expensive to NHS which is why they often try to avoid prescribing it). By all means do the Spatone too in a glass of oj. Can't hurt. Hope you're loving being a Mummy.

LadyGoneGaga · 19/11/2010 13:18

And also can't put a sentence together. Sorry, hope you can understand my wayward meanderings through the acrid pall of spelling and grammatical errors. As you were.

Medee · 19/11/2010 15:13

Moo's story is amazing.

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 17:04

Huzzah! Lovely nurse rang back just now with Down's testing results - she had remembered we'd said it was TYF's birthday today and wanted to give us the GOOD NEWS!!! My risk is 1 in 380. Anything over 1 in 150 is good news for someone over 37, so is fab. She said this means there is only 0.26% chance of baby having anything wrong with it - or 99.74% it'll be normal (I hate the word normal when talking about disability, but you know what I mean by it). And that's before we factor in the totally normal NT scan and presence of full nasal bridge, huzzah! So that's a fab pressie for us both Grin

Thing is, TYF is really shy and is actually v nervous about telling his parents! I try pointing out that as we've lived together years, they might've guessed we've had sex by now and I can't blame a burgeoning bump at Xmas on eating too much turkey! Silly bugger (will get him to do it this wkend). I think he just wants to eat his own bodyweight in curry and watch DVDs all night :)

Tum is feeling better, so last 2 days must've been a blip due to accidental ingestion of evil creme fraiche. Is rubbish that RockyRoad has to wait so long for a gallstones scan - surely is a bit more urgent to get checked out when pg? Grrrr, me demand only best for PESHes Angry LGG, I hear ya with the early pg weepiness - I have now stopped crying at adverts for chips, etc. Blush

PS I have a public service announcement for all PESHes over 9 stone - please, I beseech thee, do NOT use the changing rooms at H&M. I caught sight of myself from behind in their evil mirror system and nearly had a nervous breakdown. Their jeans are also made for anorexic giraffes. Topshop only has size 8 preggo jeggings currently in stock, FFS. Where else can I get good straight/skinny leg jeans for £40 or under? Is ridiculous Angry Don't want to order off the internet neever, in case they don't fit.

Medee · 19/11/2010 18:35

Next, Scorps.

And hurrah for Downs results.

Muser · 19/11/2010 19:01

Dotty Ps or Debenhams for jeans Scorps. Lovely news about the results. Hope the big telling of the relatives goes well.

rocket sorry you're feeling so rubbish. Have a soothing gin.

I was feeling very happy because I managed not to puke all week, mainly by going back to bed for 10 mins after a shower. Plenty of retching, no actual puke. However, this morning I woke up with the normal excess saliva. Spat it out and it was all bloody. Nice.

So I've a dentist appointment for next week as I fear it is my gums.

OP posts:
Muser · 19/11/2010 19:02

Damn, missed a line. Meant to say: bloody saliva = puke city, as you'd expect. Bleurgh.

rollerbaby · 19/11/2010 19:03

Hi gals - a quick hello to you all from me. Have had a good day with feeding and sleeping baby and managed to get a bit of rest here and there. He is soooo good (well for now) and wondering when the luck runs out there. He has just gone down and I reckon I've got until between 9.30 and 1030 until my boobage is required again. Sitting on the sofa mumsnetting feels almost normal life again!!! Haven't actually bothered getting dressed today but did shower this morning so that's ok then. The funny thing is that it's only 7pm and it feels like it should be about 10pm.

Good news on the downs result scorps. :) And shitty shitty news on the possible gall stone Rocket - that sounds really painful. Poor you. As if preggoness isn't bad enough at times. Got to say not missing the heartburn. Tummy looks about 20 weeks preggo now but is decided jelly like. Not sure the box of celebrations and chocolate biscuits are helping either.

Anyhoo, must go and laugh at Chezza on Children in Need. First telly I've watched in a week...

LadyGoneGaga · 19/11/2010 19:17

Fab news on Downs results, Scorps

Well I've been reading my book about Feeling more confident about Miscarriages that arrived yesterday and now feel worse Sad. I have ideintified myself as having an Imuunological disorder that I think could have caused my mc (because I have raised anti-thyroid antobodies.) Good news is I can reduce my risk by taking baby aspirin through the pregnancy. I'll be off down the chemist tomorrow morning! Grin

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 20:26

Have checked out Next website, cheers y'all, but they all seem to be bootcut and a bit... not my thing. I don't do bootcut and am a shameless fashion whore. I need straight leg. I want 2 pairs - 1 straight leg, one boyfriend cut. Looked on Mothercare, ASOS, Next... meh. Might have to brave the teen mum throngs in the New Look preggo section! Or wait until Toppers get some realistic sizes in!

Talking of said shop, my parents surprised me today by insisting on buying me a new coat for Xmas. I got THIS! Which is why I need skinny jeans underneath. It's not a pg one, but is fabulous and I will wear it year after year, as it's a classic. It's also verr slimming - although I may look like a trendy Dalek once my bump gets v big Grin

I feel human again, getting some cool togs finally (also got a groovy striped preggo top and some good leggings)! Shallow, moi?!

PS Cheers for all your congrats about the test results. We didn't think there would be a prob, but you can never be complacent.

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 20:42

Amazingly, I think M&S have what I want! Gawd, is this a slippery slope? Will I be in a lilac roll-neck with long floral pleated skirt by this time next year?! Grin

Scorpette · 19/11/2010 20:47

LadyGG, should've refreshed the page before wittering about jeans, sorry. You must be feeling wibbly, 'tis only natural. Let's hope the baby aspirin live up to their name literally :)

Headbanger · 19/11/2010 21:28

Yo PESHes! I found this lovely fred and couldn't think where to share it, so put it here...Luffs to all, especially HoneyMonster and her Monsterlet!

Muser · 19/11/2010 21:57

Big gropes and chinese burns for LadyG, I have everything crossed for you. Hope the aspirin gives you velcro womb.

OP posts:
LadyGoneGaga · 19/11/2010 23:21

Fanks my Dahlinks.

Scorps I don't mind you wittering on about jeans. I had a real problem with preggo jeans last time that you will prob find too when you get big. They WILL NOT STAY UP. You will have to walk around with arse hanging out at all times. Or suffer the horrific over bump ones that make arse look same size as bump. I'm going to invest in some decent leggings and maybe the TopShop jeggings too (not size 8 though!). However, will be ginormous in height of summer so going to need a whole new preggo wardrobe filled with floaty dresses etc. Shame Grin

rocketleaf · 20/11/2010 11:13

lady I hope you are feeling better about things today. At least you can take some positive action if you know that you have a specific problem.

score veh pleased for you on the downs results. and the jeans results ;-) Wo cares is its M&S if they fit and you feel good.

HB thanks so much for posting that link. I really needed something to prompt me to think of the positives after yesterdays diagnosis. Feel a bit better today anyway, had a fairly large breakie and no pain yet so hoping will have a better day today.

Went bra shopping yesterday and it was a massive fail. I ended up ordering from Debenhams last night because i can't face actually visiting the shop this close to xmas. Hopefully one of the sizes I ordered will fit.

Scorpette · 20/11/2010 11:56

Note to self: when you can't sleep with a stonking headache at 1am, do NOT Google 'liver problems in pregnancy'. Phrases like '18% maternal death during/after labour' (for acute fatty liver in pg) do not for a restful slumber make. Confused Hmm

I need to sort out my bra situation too, Rocket. I did buy one non-underwired one but I find it weirdly painful and itchy and it made my norks look like I was an 80 yr old transsexual.

Although an elderly transsexual would've had a boob job, so would probably still have better looking boobs than my mine in a maternity bra...

PollyPoo · 20/11/2010 16:02

Step away from Dr Google Scropes. It will drive you menkul. Well done on the downs results and I hope you get the results from Monday quickly. At least your Doc is now taking you seriously and trying to find out what is causing the problem.

RockyRoad sorry to hear about the possibility of gallstones. My sis had kidney stones during her first pregnancy. Don't know if they are similar but she was in agony with them. I hope you manage to get a quicker appt.

I now have crutches and managed to get around waitrose last night to treat myself to cookies and Cadburys Clusters. Of course, I hadn't really thought through how I'd managed to carry the shopping whilst using the crutches - had to put it in my bag, which looked like I was shoplifting. Thankfully I mainly attracted looks of sympathy rather than suspicion.

I am now reclining on the sofa having sent TG and Boo to tesco. We need some batteries - TG is going to pump up my ebay-tastic birth pool this avo to make sure all is ok. I am quite excited, TG is not. Wink Oh and I added more cookies to the list too.

I've got midwife on Weds, my 36 wk check. Holy cow... how did I get this far on? Today I have packed the baybee's hospital bag, and half packed mine. Not that we will be needing them of course, as it will be a gentle sneeze whilst in the pool. But it is suddenly all becoming real! I am rather excited! I am hoping the baybee comes at 38 wks so that I won't have to fight for a homebirth, and besides, the sooner it is laid, the sooner I can start recovering from the buggering SPD!

How is everyone else today? Are you all off doing fun and exciting things while I am resembling a beached whale and lusting over rugby players thighs?

LadyGoneGaga · 20/11/2010 16:09

Poll just make sure the filling tools fit on your taps and stay there while under high pressure (i.e. taps on full).

It IS very exciting! Am sure you don't look like a beached whale.

Got my aspirin today so feel better already. And relax. Been a for a nice Italian lunch but unfortunately everything just tasted wrong and I think it was me and my preggo taste buds rather than the food. Sighs.

PollyPoo · 20/11/2010 16:27

GG good tip, thank you. I can't actually see that the tap connector will even fit on our tap at all, let alone under pressure, but that is TG's dept, so he can stress about it. I have voiced my concerns, it is up to him now. Wink Glad you are feeling a bit better today. Get those aspirin down your neck and go and put your feet up. Have one of my cookies.
