That floats on high o'er vales and hills
When all at once I saw a crowd
Of cackling, quaffing, ne-er-do-wells

Pull up a seat, grap a glass of vino and a piece of sushi, it's Delitime again.

I think we have finally settled on the Quinny Buzz - just need to take the cars round to check it all fits.

Muser · 16/11/2010 22:22

There is a thread in pregnancy at the moment called "Weird salty taste in mouth". It is a serious thread, a serious problem. But every time I see it my mind descends into the gutter. I am a Bad Person.

I can't see what is funny about that. Could you please explain why it amuses you?

SilverSky · 17/11/2010 05:57

And so the list doth grow. Unlike my tum luckily for it is slowly shrinking. Fingers xd is does keep shrinking.

Today is a day of peace. Well apart from MB kicking off for bum change or face stuff. No visitors
now til Friday. Not even going to bother getting dressed.

Orchid12 · 17/11/2010 08:36

Silver good work on not getting dressed - this is what maternity leave is for Smile

Muse we used Bambino Mio for Mini O. I had to stop using them when he was about 18 months old as he got too big for the wraps, but until then they were great. Do you know what sex the baby is? I've heard that some nappy brands seem to fit boys better than girls and vice versa.

AlpinePony · 17/11/2010 09:00

Don't forget PESHes, carrots shop does washables and she gives us all a 10% discount. I've been using the washables but am currently using disposables because I am going through a l-a-z-y stage what with back to work and all! But as LadyG says, they're all ready & good to go for baby #2.

I didn't try a sling, my mum gave me one but in the end I wasn't comfortable with it so I use a front-facing harness which I love. I don't know... just seems more stable - is absolutely invaluable for dog-walking (walking in general) if any of you are the types who like to get out and about.

As for travel-systems etc. - on Friday I bought a buggy (Koelstra) as I'm sick/bored/peed off with the enormous system I was using...

Muser · 17/11/2010 09:21

I didn't know carrots had a shop!

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 17/11/2010 09:30

She does, we can't give the name here because it's seen as advertising - but it's on the other place on the discussion board about nappies I think. She'll also give loads of advice about what you need/want - also that outfit that moo's baby was wearing comes from rots' shop I think. :) They were so good to me, they unpacked everything out of the boxes so that they could do me a really good deal on P&P rather than the post office take an ENORMOUS chunk! :)

I wouldn't advise washables unless you have a tumble-dryer tbh.

Muser · 17/11/2010 09:37

I know a lot of people who use washables and don't have a dryer. Or have a dryer but don't put the washables in. You just need to choose your brand carefully so you get fast drying ones. I have a lot of recommendations.

Also suggested that buying a dehumidifier can help, stick it in the room with the drying clothes and they'll all dry faster. I have been doing my research!

OP posts:
AlpinePony · 17/11/2010 09:42

That's very true, it does depend which type. I have half a dozen fleece ones which dry in minutes, but the bamboo ones take their time! Also in rots' favour, I had some issues with the Bambinex wraps and she replaced them FOR FREE with motherease ones which are the biz! Grin

Muser · 17/11/2010 10:33

Just had another midwife appointment. I need to practice saying "who are you" when there is an unexpected person in the room. I have no
idea why there was another woman sat in the corner. Why don't I ask at the time?

Appointment was the usual. Blood pressure fine, pee in a pot. Possible urine infection, off for analysis. Got to hear the heartbeat again, I love that sound. Bob is definitely bigger. Last time the heartbeat was really far down, this time more in the belly.

I also have my MatB1 form so will be officially notifying work today. Can I go on maternity leave now? No? Shame.

I have to go back again in 3 weeks. This scares me as it means I must be getting close to the end.

OP posts:
PerfectDromedary · 17/11/2010 10:42

According to my mate who is using washables, mother-ease are the biznis. I shall be buying them at some point when I come out of denial and start spending money.

Muse you can't be getting close to the end! If you're getting close to the end, I'm getting close to the end! And the baby is happy where it is! And there are LOADS of people on the NOT-list before me, loads.

Have you bought the Kari-Me? Have you tried it out yet?

maswera · 17/11/2010 11:16

I can't get another appointment with my midwife till the beginning of frickin December - which is a week before I have the darn thing. Particularly annoying since I'm supposed to see her every week by now... You'd think they'd have as many midwife appt slots as they have pregnant women wouldn't you...

Muser · 17/11/2010 11:20

I won a Kari-Me from ebay yesterday, so hopefully will arrive soon. I will report back once it arrives.

Obviously we aren't really getting close to the end Drom. Why we're still safely in the second trimester. I'm not thinking about it until January.

Mother-ease have also been recommend to me. I might get some samples of those and of the ones Nappy Lady recommended and see what I think. But not yet. January. Yes.

Scorpette · 17/11/2010 12:09

MassiveWee, that's proper rubbish. I think you should punish her by breaking your waters in her handbag when you do see her Grin

Muse, fingers crossed you've not got a UI Grin I don't think the other woman in the room was doing anything - I think it's just a ruse to get preggos used to strangers being there for private stuff so they won't complain about all and sundry wandering in and fiddling with their foofs whilst in labour Grin

Exciting news! I haven't been sick for a week! This is such a milestone. I feel much less nauseous too. Dunno if it's natural tailing-off or the drucks for acid reflux. Either way, I don't care so long as it stays gone. I also slept for nearly 10 hours. That's disgraceful Grin The blinding headaches are now 24-7 but I am being proper 'ard about them all.

SilverSky · 17/11/2010 12:51

mas that happened to me too. No MW appts avail so i saw the Gp instead.

falabella what harness you got? I need one.

HI has instructed me to sleep when MB sleeps today. Has been tough morning. Mainly iconsolable crying and screaming. My baybee - not me. Tho at one point decided that my next option is "if you can beat them join them". Luckily he is now snoozing. So that's my cue to try and nap. Fat chance but I will give it a go.

maswera · 17/11/2010 13:37

I was talking to my mum about childbirth & stuff recently - she was due to have a home birth with my brother (40+ years ago) and was given a list of things she needed to have in the house by the midwife. On the list was soapflakes.... anyone care to guess what they were for.......?

maswera · 17/11/2010 13:54

Well I'll tell you anyway... An enema!!!! Mix soapflakes with water, shove funnel up bum, pour in soapy water Shock Shock Shock Shock Shock

maswera · 17/11/2010 13:55

And after doing this, the midwife had the cheek to bang on the loo door and ask my mum if she was going to be in there all day Grin

Scorpette · 17/11/2010 14:34

They used to give you an enema as routine when giving birth in hospital, didn't they. My Mum said hers was as painful as the middle part of labour (I feel this might be a slight touch of hyperbole on her part)!

Arsebuckets - WHY, when I felt too ill to go out and do lots of stuff yesterday, was it gloriously sunny and crisp underfoot, etc., but now when I feel okay, it's pissing it down and so dark that I've had the lights on since 1pm? Angry Okay, so all I have to do is post some stuff, buy some potatoes (oh, the glamour!) and collect the crappy serial killer books I ordered from the library (don't judge me! I've read Finnegans Wake to the end, which gave me licence to thenceforth read any old shite), but harumph!

Orchid12 · 17/11/2010 15:47

maswera that sounds grim! All I was told for my homebirth was to make sure I had plenty of biscuits in for the midwives Smile

Scorps so pleased you are feeling better. It's about time you had a break.

I've been to the GP today and asked for a sick note for a week. I've phoned in sick today and will be off next week too now. MrO has taken tomorrow off to take the wee man to his swimming lesson so we're getting there. Bizarrely I have felt a little bit better this afternoon, but am still not managing to keep much down. I can eat, but then half an hour or so later I start to feel it just sitting there and then it's just a matter of waiting for the inevitable. The GP said MS peaks around weeks 8-9 and then subsides, so I'm hoping she's right and this is the worst of it.

LadyGoneGaga · 17/11/2010 15:57

Sorry Muser. Dappy brain can't cope with alliterative names.

I got Bumble nappies (with 6 Bimbles for when newborn for neater fit) here and Motherease wraps. I found them both excellent and they seldom leaked apart from in the usual poocano scenario when the poo starts emerging from the neck of the babygro. I liked that you can have them in different iterations depending on size of baby so same nappies saw me through from newborn to potty training (although it helps that MiniG is on the slender side).

Will pop in later to catch up properly but noone, but noone is putting soapy water up my arse thank you. Sounds a bit "specialist" to me. Do they post pictures on the internet afterwards? Shock

LadyGoneGaga · 17/11/2010 16:00

Oh, and got through two hours of talking without falling apart, dribbling or forgetting my words so thanks for the vote of confidence girls. (Although did miss TWO exits on drive home. D'oh)

Scorpette · 17/11/2010 16:01

Awww, poor Oryouchidding Sad I hope I haven't sent my nausea & sickness to you by mistake! It's just bloody awful, isn't it, and there's not much you can do except wait for it to pass, which is so unfair and not very helpful. I still feel queasy in the afternoons, but it's so good to not be ill all the time, so I'm really feeling your pain. I'll blow you a kiss from here, instead of making it worse with proper contact XX

Muser · 17/11/2010 16:28

I told my midwife today I was still getting sick. "It'll pass soon" she said. She said that at my 8 week appointment. And the next one. When she says "it'll pass" do you think she means "hey, you're having this baby in 14/15 weeks. Then you'll be fine. Just fine."

Orchid I hope yours does not last so long. Taking time off is a very good idea.
