OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BarbieLovesKen · 12/11/2010 14:58

God, you really are the most gorgeous group of women ever. You do know that? thank you all so much. Ill be on later. x

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/11/2010 15:00

Barbie - you certainly have grounds on breach of confidentiality for a formal grevience procedure, let alone all the other stuff that is going on! Sorry you are having such a tough time at the moment Sad

Good news about Brassica though!!

Went to my peer supporter meeting, there 4 of us are pregnant and we all had a moan about our hospital "choice" with us being pushed into one choice or another, plus the lack of breastfeeding information.

We have decided to write a letter to the head of maternity services to express our concerns. I have offered to draft the letter but not until I have had my MW appointment, as I want to see what information I get given there.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 12/11/2010 15:02

Oh and the crystal ball said I am having a girl, 6lb 40z after a 4 hour labour. Spooky as I am pretty convinced I am having a girl, and DS was born after a very short labour, and was 6lb 60z...

I was a bit Hmm at some of the questions - I don't watch any of the programmes on the list about favourite tv programmes, and I didn't fancy any of the men on that list either!

neenewps · 12/11/2010 15:05

I feel really buoyant from all the upbeat posts and good news on here today... long may it continue ladies :o

Here is mine...
You'll give birth to a baby boy, weighing 5lbs 8oz, after just two hours of labour. He'll be born a week or so early, on a day when some big celebrity gossip is all over the news. Everyone will tell you he looks like your dad. You'll be pleased to hear that he's going to be a good sleeper from an early age and when he gets a bit older he'll be very musical. According to our predictions, his favourite food will be bananas.

Sounds very much like a few others on here :)

I had a really bad day on Monday. Had a complete emotional breakdown on my DH and I think he was wondering what the hell was going on... I just seemed to hit the bottom emotionally. Bless him having to put up with a slightly deranged me!!! Blush

barbie I agree with everyone else re your boss. Complete lack of duty of care on her part and she should be taken to task over it.

NurseSunshine · 12/11/2010 15:43

Good to have you back Barbie :) Sorry about all this stress though, I agree with everyone else, take this horrible woman to the cleaners(!) she deserves to be shown in no uncertain terms that she cannot bully people like this. Hope things clear up with your DH as well.

I'm having a girl, 8lbs 4oz, born a week or so late after a 10 hour labour. She's going to look like my mum and I'm going to have a right PITA getting her to give up her dummy apparently! (Not that she'd get one in the first place obv!) She's going to enjoy cooking and her fave thing to cook and eat will be shepard's pie!

I have some good news, we signed for our new house today so we're all ready to move in :)

neenewps · 12/11/2010 15:48

Oh that's great news Nursesunshine... I wish I could say that we are shortly going to be able to sign for a new house but we are still well and truly on the rental market ladder :( One day I keep saying to myself!! You must be beside yourself with excitement? Is it a new place or are you going to have to do some work to it??

takethatlady · 12/11/2010 15:49

I was a PITA with my dummy. I had one until I was five. I say I had 'one'. I had a gazillion, all of which I would lose and then throw a mega-tantrum until I got another one. They must have been mega, because I vividly remember a lot of them!

NurseSunshine · 12/11/2010 15:50

Sorry moufflon, CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! So pleased for you.

Wolfcub, I know I'd take the scan!

clench234 · 12/11/2010 15:50

Woweee, more good news :-)
Baribe, lovely to see you back again and I understand your response completely. This thread does become a little lifeline when you're not public and you do feel v close to everyone and feel the devastating losses. There has been an awful lot of bad news but I guess that's because there have been so many of us to start with.
Very shocked to hear about your boss, that is shocking behaviour. I am a manager and have had a givance against me for much much much less than that (a v disgruntled member of my team) and so from what you have said you should get get the full support of your hr team, and if not you would have grounds for an external case. Unfortunately this is precisely the time in your life when you really don't need the extra stress so take care of yourself. I definitely agree that you need to stop her though so please make the complaint.

I have just told my boss and she was lovely. I have asked her to keep it confidential as I am still only 10 weeks and no scan date yet. Think we'll tell the rest of the family tonight as I think if anything bad happened now I would want them to know.

Take care everyone. My sickness has definitely tailed off which I am trying to be positive about.

NurseSunshine · 12/11/2010 15:55

Thanks neenewps, sorry that was unclear, we are still renting unfortunately, until I qualify there's not a hope in hell we could buy! We are very excited though as atm living in a teensy flat withhardly enough room to swing a cat, should the mood take me and certainly not enough to swing a baby Grin Would love to bebuying though

TTLady, I never had one so am hoping I can avoid all that hassle with mine! My friend's dad gave his to a monkey at Dublin Zoo!

TabithaTwitchet · 12/11/2010 15:58

Wolfcub if it was me I wouldn't be able to resist taking the scan. Blush

But on the other hand, when we had our first scan with DD, it was really special that DH was there to share it too. He won't be able to come to the scan for this baby, as he will be looking after aforementioned DD! I'm really sad that he won't get to see it on the screen, the picture just isn't the same somehow.

neenewps · 12/11/2010 16:03

Nursesunshine I feel your pain. However that said a new pad nevertheless is still exciting. We are just in the process of thinking about moving as we have a one bed flat which luckily is spacious but not practical for having a baby in as well. It is 2nd floor tenement so all those stairs will do me in Hmm
We saw a fab place yesterday but unfortunately is available now and we have this place till February. Isn't that just a bummer!!

wolfcub Another vote here for taking the scan :)

5lb 8! My DS was 8lb!

mrsbigw · 12/11/2010 17:55

Take the scan Wolf! Hardly any perks in the nhs so grab it while you can!
Glad you are doing a grievance Barbie as that sort of bullying needs to be addressed.
cep & barbie maybe its something in the air this last couple of weeks as my DP & I haven't been speaking for days now. Fair enough I SAID I didn't want to speak to him but he could at least try?! Thankfully for you lovely June ladies this is an open forum otherwise I would have filled a page bitching about him & men in general.
Nursesunshine congrats on the house, bet you can't wait to get in.
8rd I am with you on the latest pg advice. I often wonder why it is deemed ok for us to take pethidine when we still have hours of labour to go but not ok to pop 2 paracetamol unless we are officialy dying.
Hope supermarket was ok nomorechoc, yesterday I wrapped my winter scarf around my face which helped but I still had to leave without half the shopping because all the food & the smells were making me ill so I feel for you.

catherineps · 12/11/2010 18:14

wow lots to catch up on!

I am also having the musical banana boy - I think they need a few more variations!

barbie I completely agree with what everyone's said about making a formal complaint, that is not on! I told my headteacher today as am getting to the stage where I may run out of the classroom and vomit and she was lovely (even though I've only been there 2 weeks!) and gave me a hug and was genuinely happy for me.

Sorry for those who are having trouble with partners. I think this must all be so much more stressful for those of you who are already looking after children!

79monica · 12/11/2010 19:10

I also got

Fingers crossed for the two hours labour, but I'm not expecting it. This is my first baby and my mum was in labour for 36 hours with me (I'm the eldest)!!! Shock

Mummynumber2 · 12/11/2010 20:07

moufflon congratulations on the scan! It's so good that we're hearing so much good news!

Thanks for all the advice about paracetamol. I didn't end up needing it in the end as the headache dissapeared with the help of a bottle of lucozade not long after posting! Worthwhile remembering it could help if anyone else has headache, or it could be a complete coincidence!

Nurse That's great news about the house!

I've had loads of bleeding this afternoon, although I'm getting used to it now so I'm not too worried. It's all old brown blood so hoping it's not a problem. But it will play on my mind all weekend, hopefully I'll be able to have another scan on monday.

clench234 · 12/11/2010 20:17

mmynumber2 you reminded me about paracetamol, i had full maxmum dose every day for last 3 months of my pg last time to take the edge off the spd pain. Saw gp, mw, physio and consultant during that time who were all happy for me to be taking it.
Glad the bleeding isn't panicing you but i hope you do get another scan to keep your mind at ease.

misshooha, forgot to say hello to my neighbour ;-) Sorry to hear about your long commute.

cep · 12/11/2010 21:20

This was mine
"You'll give birth to a baby girl, weighing 8lb 4oz, after a 10-hour labour. She'll be born a week or so late, on a day that a volcano erupts in a foreign country. Everyone will tell you that she looks just like your mum. Once she's a few months old she'll love her dummy - you might have a bit of trouble persuading her to get rid of it later on! She'll love to cook when she's older and her favourite food to cook and eat will be shepherd's pie"

i seem to be having the longest labour (that i remember from the other posts) which is typical, but a little shorter than #1's. ok how is it good news that it'll be on a day a volcano erupts???? Like kara i don't watch any of the programmes had to pick the one i'd possibly least hate to watch.

cep · 12/11/2010 21:24

ooh just read back and nurse we're having the same child. And just saw a clip from 5 news taking about a volcano eruption in indonesia how freaky is that????

Wobblewatcher · 12/11/2010 22:09

Not sure whether I belong on this thread or not, basically feel like I don't post much and at times feel a bit invisible but that's because I'm crap at giving everyone an individual response, I just don't have the time/inclination, and my iPad is a bit fiddly. Also not had any BB for a week. Have it back now though...

Gosh there has been lots of bad news, I, like Barbie, found it hard to know what to write in response and then also developed some pretty out of control anxiety.

Anyway, I had my private scan and all fine. I had to go alone as DP was too nervous Sad May post again but will see how I feel.

Not sure who posted about the pain on the left side but I also get this!!!

sasamaxx · 12/11/2010 22:27

wobblewatcher - I know it can be quite intimidating when there are pages to catch up on and you miss all the ongoing conversations, but just dive in and get involved Smile

I am hopelessly behind as well - had quite an energy-less day today - not too sick which was good - I think the sickness is definitely improving.

Hope everyone is doing well - will try to catch up on all the stuff I've missed Smile

8rubberduckies · 12/11/2010 22:32

Wobblewatcher I am on here all the time because I don't have a life. Or an iPad Wink. It's just kind of something to dip into whenever you feel like it I reckon, don't feel like you have to read every post Smile.

I'm off to bed... night all x

milliemuffin · 13/11/2010 00:43

Just a piece of info that I've learned from previous pregnancies but ligament pain is often worse on your left or right depending on if you're left or right handed. The same goes for tattoos. You're more aware of pain on your dominant side. My ligament pain was much worse on my right during pregnancy and I recently had a tattoo across my lower back and the right side was far more sensitive than the right.
Not sure if that's of help to anyone or not, it's just something I've learned from experience. Xx

milliemuffin · 13/11/2010 07:49

Morning ladies!

Just out of interest, are any of you planning to have the flu jab this winter? I'm pretty sure it's a combined jab which now has the swine flu jab contained in it.

I've never had either jab before but my doctor said last week that I should have it. My DP had it a few weeks ago and he had to call in sick the next day as he was so rough and I know someone that is still suffering a month after she had it but she is about 60 and I suppose some people will react worse than others.

I know there's probably a thread somewhere about it but I was just wondering, as we're all at roughly the same stage, how many of you will be having it? xx
