Hi moufflon hope the apt at the GP's goes well. I know it must be worrying for you :(

A friend of mine bled up to week 10 and she has just given birth to a very healthy 10lb baby :)

Will be thinking of you today

Hi everyone. I'm so sad about everyone who has had bad news over the last couple of days.

Has anyone heard from broughthimroundtotheidea? If you're reading I really hope everything turned out to be ok.

moufflon I really hope you get a scan very soon to put your mind at rest. As other people have said, bleeding really isn't always bad news. I've been bleeding almost constantly for the last couple of weeks and it has had no effect on the baby what so ever. I know it's very a very scary thing to go through so I'm thinking of you.

My good news is I'm 10 weeks today, had a scan yesterday and the baby and I are doing so well that I'm going to be discharged from the ivf/fertility unit! They told me that the risk of things going wrong is now very small! I honestly never thought I'd be in this position. The down side is that there's going to be no more weekly scans, which I've been very spoiled with! I'm allowing myself to start preparing to have a baby now......

Mummynumber2 · 09/11/2010 11:13

Hi jasmine, congratulation and welcome.

Don't know if anyone can help me with this. I've got my first midwife appointment next week. On the letter it said I should bring a sample of urine. What do I take it in?! Also DP happens to have that day off and is wanting to come with me to the appointment. Do you think they'll mind him being there?

Thanks

neenewps · 09/11/2010 11:26

mummynumber2 that is absolutely fantastic news about being discharged. You must be so relieved.

Can you nip into your GP surgery as they will give you a urine sample tube from there.

I was kinda hoping my DH would come with me too to my MW apt so I too would like to know other peoples thoughts on this..

motherofsnortpigs · 09/11/2010 11:26

mummy - if I were you I'd go a few mins early and ask for a wee pot at reception. It will be lovely having your DP there, you should definitely take him. Good luck!

motherofsnortpigs · 09/11/2010 11:29

supersunny - I'd be much more worried about you if your main concern was nappies and not all the lovely stuff. Idealism is the way forward. Happy daydreaming!

NurseSunshine · 09/11/2010 11:49

The wee sample should be your first of the morning as everything is more concentrated then, so if possible pop into your gp and ask for a sample pot there. Failing that I suppose just a small, thoroughly washed bottle or something? I bet they have people bringing in all sorts! Your DP will be most welcome, I'm desperately hoping mine won't have to work and can come to my scan with me.

Booking in app this evening :)

8rubberduckies · 09/11/2010 12:19

Just thought I'd share a link with you all that someone on another thread has posted, all about myths and truths surrounding the things we are told to avoid and cut down on during pregnancy here. It has certainly cheered me up this morning and is certainly thought-provoking Smile.

KaraStarbuckThrace · 09/11/2010 12:49

Just a fly by from me to say my friend has been induced - didn't need the ECV in the end as baby was head down Smile

So send happy labour vibes up north for me :)

VeryHungryKatypillar · 09/11/2010 13:19

Afternoon everyone, just thought I should update you and let you know that at my scan this morning all was well... saw fetal pole and strong heartbeat (measuring bang on at 7 +1) and they do not seem worried about my bleeding. That has tailed off a bit now and is a bit more like heavy brown discharge (sorry if TMI). Sending positive vibes to broughthimround and to you moufflon .

Continued good luck to all... and feeling really Envy of those of you getting close to 12 weeks! Seems years away to me!

8rubberduckies · 09/11/2010 13:26

Hurray VeryHungryKatypillar that is wonderful news!

(And sending good vibes to your friend Kara.

VeryHungryKatypillar · 09/11/2010 13:29

Thanks 8rubberduckies, just need to chill out and try to get to 12 weeks! Just read that Zoe Williams piece, made me giggle. I remember her ante natal column in the Guardian helping me realise that I wasn't the most neurotic mother in the world... she had the same thoughts about shaken baby syndrome when pushing pram over uneven ground that I did...

Positive vibes also going ooop north.

Yay, a happy day on the thread (fingers crossed, touch wood). Congratulations jasmine and katypillar and to mummynumber2 and karastarbuck's friend :)

And good luck with your scan moufflon, I'm sure all will be okay.

7+2 here, not much to report. Less morning sickness than morning retching for me, and it does seem to be concentrated before breakfast. After that I can easily eat enough to keep it at bay. Just the odd bit of stomach lining but no real vomit Grin

8rubberduckies thanks for posting that link. The trouble is everybody else knows the myths and not the facts, so if I have cheese and biscuits and a glass of wine at Christmas my family and DH's family will all be frowning at me. So that reduces me to acting like a normal, rational human being but only in secret :)

8rubberduckies · 09/11/2010 14:12

I forgot to say congratulations on your fabulous news mummynumber2; good to see folk coming out of the woods Smile.

wolfcubEm83 · 09/11/2010 14:12

mummynumber2 ive got my 1st mw appointment tomorrow ad i popped into the surgery this morning and asked for a urine sample pot, they got one out of a huge crate from behind the desk and that was that!
I asked my mw if my OH needed to come with me and she said not really, its better for him to get time off for the scans as its just form filling.

8rubberduckies · 09/11/2010 14:20

takethatlady I will be partaking in a lovely glass of wine this Christmas, and once or twice a week until my baby pops. I am a great believer in the government setting their alcohol in pregnancy guidelines below the common denominator, as there are always going to be stupid uninformed people around who think that "drink in moderation" means that they can go out and have 5 vodkas on a Friday night instead of their normal pre-pregnancy 10 Grin.

I also eat cooked, still hot seafood, cooked and still hot "bad" cheeses, runny yolks and thanks to this thread now well-sealed but medium rare meats. I don't eat pate and "raw" blue cheese / rinded cheeses.

clench234 · 09/11/2010 14:32

Food debate is interesting, my dh turns into the 'food police' every pg which is sweet but also sometimes annoying sometimes as I tend to take your approach 8rd.
Good to hear some happy news on the thread today and hi to new people. I've had an interesting day. Tried to get to work, driving through quite deep flood water, but turned around and came home again. Have a great vantage point from spare room/home office window as the end of our road is quite deep. Have had police, highways agency, aa in cool sub aqua style gear and lots of people coming to look, v distracting from my sleeping working ;-)

mouffloncake · 09/11/2010 14:43

Thank you all :)

GP is sending me to the Early Pregnancy Unit on Friday for a scan. Will be 10+4 then.

Asked dh to come with but he told me he had work commitments. I got a bit upset (in my own company) about the thought of going alone & after I explained I was not at all being dramatic or over reacting & that I was feeling a little frightened, dh has agreed to cone along.

GP said that the 24/7 sicky is a good sign however.

Great news mummy ;)

Thank you all again for being here
(feeling really hormonal & love you all lol)

8rubberduckies · 09/11/2010 14:53

Mouffloncake we love you too Grin Wink.

Clench where do you live?

As you may have noticed, I am spending too much time on this thread today, really must concentrate on work more Wink.

clench234 · 09/11/2010 15:02

Moufflon, glad dh changed his mind. Fingers crossed, plenty of good outcomes on here as well as the bad ones so chances are all will be well but I wouldn't want to go on my own.
8rd, am in west Sussex, by the seaside, flood water doesn't seem to be going down but it has stopped raining and no more forecast so hopefully I'll stay nice and dry! I am also having trouble doing any work today...

NoMoreChocBiscuits · 09/11/2010 15:47

I'm laying in several bottles of good wine, enough of the yummy not allowed to eat food to do us all twice over and putting something suitably girly on the huge screen TV.

Yep it's time we all had some fun (and virtual roast lamb ain't gonna make me hurl!).

Hugs for those in need too. xx
