Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

OP posts:

prof zero has posted here recently I'm sure.

Its just about if they are having boy-girl or surprises angels

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/11/2010 17:04

zero is still on the stats list (look, she's right there at the end promising to get the baby out early) -- I just don't have her down as boy, girl or surprise and would like to tidy up those bits of the stats list.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/11/2010 17:07

To understand the pom bear thing you need to read this thread.

People then started demanding a "pom bear, anyone?" smiley. MN apparently decided that this was a good idea.

ZeroMinusZero · 19/11/2010 17:14

I'm having a girl which is all very very exciting and I guess Pudsey makes more sense than a pombear although it should really have an eyepatch if were going to be really pedantic.

And just so you know I'm not going completely insane, for those who don't know there is a running joke on mumsnet about pombears. I'm not mad, honest!

40Weeks · 19/11/2010 17:20

Oh girls from the small type face on my phone I thought u were all talking about a PORN BEAR! I had to make the text bigger to make sure. Phew

Tarlia · 19/11/2010 17:20

Damn, all this talk of pombear is making me want some. A red packet! They are rather odd though, but always want things you can't have I guess.

Tarlia · 19/11/2010 17:21

Hahahahahaha 40weeks is there something we should know?! :P

Highlandgirl · 19/11/2010 17:33

loving Bear

Hello all, I've been away and now I'm back...!

Saw the midwife on Wednesday, was having a rough day and she asked me how I was feeling and I burst in to tears...poor girl. However now she wants to refer me to the mental health midwife...and see my GP about some happy pills!!!! Shock For the love of god women, i'm having a tough day and you happened to ask the question, could of well of been the women at the check out in Tescos..! Oh well never mind, I guess she must be used to people crying... Grin

Haven't read over the last 20 + pages, but I trust everyone is growing happly and things are good?

Moi xxx

knittakid · 19/11/2010 17:36

hilarious 40.
I had no idea what are pombears, so had to google them, can I ask what's the standing joke? Blush

ZeroMinusZero · 19/11/2010 17:49

Oh and regarding schemes of work, I don't really have to do a really comprehensive one but I am making quite a lot of detailed notes for the person taking over from me. Its not too bad- the worst thing for me is just the teaching of the lessons as I have to walk about and so on. Sitting at home doing work on the computer isn't as bad.

angels1 · 19/11/2010 18:01

yes zero agreed on the walking around - I just couldn't work at the minute because of that (amongst other things) but realise I'm a wuss lucky to be signed off. I struggle sitting for any longer than half an hour though as my back then really hurts,so am doing it in very short bursts so it seems like it's taking forever.

Evening everyone,

Had a massive bit of a shock today and not sure what to think. Went to see my midwife for what I thought was my 28 week check up. My midwife is lovely (unfortunately she's retiring next week but new one seems okay) and very matter of fact about things (bet she's seen it all!) so when she measured me and I saw the look on her face I was worried. She measured me again and said that she's pretty sure I'm about 31 weeks not 28, she said that he's head down and everything is fine (heartbeat, blood pressure etc). They are going to measure me again in a few weeks but said to be prepared as he may arrive in January now! I originally joined the January thread after my BFP as I thought I was further on (because of missed periods) but then at my first scan they dated me as 10/2/11 EDD.

Part of me is happy if that's true (less time to worry) but part of me is thinking, what if he comes at 37 weeks? That could be next month!!!

Can I still stay with this thread anyway? Going to have a good sit down this evening and finally write my birth plan, even if he's not due till Feb this has given me the kick up the bum I needed! Confused

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/11/2010 18:35

I linked to the thread that kicked off the running joke a couple of posts back.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/11/2010 18:38

NeedToSleep, she just can't make a judgement like that based on measuring you (although may well refer you for a growth scan if you are still measuring ahead at your next appointment). With DS I was consistently measuring 5 weeks ahead on fundal height and with DD I was consistently measuring 3 weeks ahead; both of them arrived perfectly on schedule at 39+5. They were just big/biggish babies, and I carry on the large side (my mother did too, and she just had average-sized babies) and with DS I had a touch of mild polyhydramnios.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/11/2010 19:01

Thank you prof! I'm having 2 growth scans (1 in dec and 1 in jan) as I'm normally quite underweight so they thought he might be a small baby, looks like he might be the opposite then! The thing I don't understand is that, although I have a long torso (and very short legs Biscuit) I am only 36 inches around my waist, surely that's not that big! I'm a bit lost really... Confused

Bensmum76 · 19/11/2010 19:02

Hi all
I have been lurking about on here reading your posts, giggling to myself about some!
Sorry to hear so many of you have needed to be signed off work with back problems etc. Makes me feel fortunate to be pretty much ok, apart from the general uncomfortableness, and the cold and cough I've had for about 8 weeks which has turned into sinusitis!
I really enjoy reading all yours posts and often think about contributing so thought I would say hi today, I don't want to be taken off the stars.
Anyway getting ready to put Ds to bed then gonna settle down for Children In Need, will continue to keep up with your posts and will no doubt pop my head up again soon!

40Weeks · 19/11/2010 20:29

Wow needtosleep that's some midwife! She can't just change your dates, the scans are definitive and they NEVER change your edd once the scans confirm things. Don't leave us though, whatever they say in the next few weeks! Xxx

PDR · 19/11/2010 20:37

needtosleep have you got a personalised growth chart made on the computer in your notes? I am overweight and I have one as it will not be accurate to measure my bump and I have lost weight since becoming pg not gained. Perhaps becuase you are underweight its the opposite and your bump protrudes more than usual...?
Best be prepared though just in case Confused

jackinthebump · 19/11/2010 20:46

NeedtoSleep - growth scan should give you much better idea, might be lots of fluid or just a big baby/fast growth! At my 24 week appt. I was told I had a uterus the size of someone at 31 weeks (2 of them so knew it would be bigger!) Glad I wasn't told how big it is now!!! Although Doc did say that they are not bothered about twin 2s position at birth as I'll be all stretched by that point so will come out relatively easily anyway!!!Shock HmmBlush

debka · 19/11/2010 20:49

Hi all,

Bit like bensmum, I've been here all along with you just too lazy to post.... hmmm.... that's lurking isn't it...!!

needtosleep I went to see the consultant last week because of my Raised BMI- she measured me and I was 34 instead of 28. I wasn't that surprised- since having DD I have an obscene amount of fat on my tummy, but she referred me for a growth scan. Went this week and of course the baby was measuring perfectly normal. I don't think the fundal height measurement is very accurate at all.

Have 2 more growth scans, plus a referral to an anaesthetist and a dietician. Surely it's a little too late for the dietician...???!!! All rather annoying since I had a very healthy DD with only gas and air and zero pg problems.

Anyone remember when we need to start worrying if the baby is still head up?

smallblackflowers · 19/11/2010 20:59

debka I asked my midwife yesterday if I needed to start doing things to get baby to turn out of a breech position and she said that it was far too early. She also said that the position at this point is often dictated by the location of the placenta as the umbilical cord is quite short, and that as everything grows the 'normal' position of baby is likely to change. Welcome back by the way Smile

debka · 19/11/2010 21:00

Thanks sbf :)

hubbard86 · 19/11/2010 22:29

hi all. Just for update on gender i'm having a girl. Did post before but it was a while ago.
I have another gtt next week, hoping it will continue staying negetive. It didn't show up till 28wks last time but i was suffering black outs by this point last time.
Been having really strong cravings for red meat but eating a little black pudding helps. Anyone else having cravings??

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/11/2010 23:20
