Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
knittakid · 17/11/2010 16:35

sbf I have had what I suppose are palpitations since about week 14, apparently as long as they are just palpitations and not in conjunction with vertigo or being short of breath when they happen they are supposed to be just what they told wandering, due to the extra blood.
Mine feel like my heart is suddenly beating really hard and is going to get out of my chest, only to disappear soon afterwards.

prof congrats on your niece, gory details of birth, etc would be welcome if you want to share...

angels1 · 17/11/2010 16:40

sbf I've had heart palpitations like wandering and jane mentioned. I asked my GP about it when I saw her and she didn't seem worried in any way.

opps, when I said jane I meant knitta Blush

thanks for the reassurance ladies - I'm seeing my midwife tomorrow and will mention it, but it sounds like it is a pretty common occurrence.

janedoe25 · 17/11/2010 17:11

ha ha I thought i was missing something Angels! I have enough to contend with the SPD..............

jackinthebump · 17/11/2010 17:52

Hi all! It has taken me about 2 hours to catch up with the last few days posts as I have been working away!

My TPT hasn't changed for weeks now either, still on 10.

I think I am getting braxton hicks! Really not sure though as I have no idea what they might feel like so maybe someone could shed some light? Bump is going quite hard and gets a bit difficult to breath as is a bit painful.

Got another scan on friday so will see how much they have grown in last four weeks! Oh and I have 9 days left at work!!! Had risk assessment with my boss this morning as I suggested I work from home for most of the time remaining, he is happy with that! (I normally work away, cover England, NI and Germany so a fair bit of driving!)

Cramp is really really painful!!! To releave it when diving you grab your fin and pull it towards you, if you can reach your foot (I cant) try pulling toes towards tummy, or get other half to for you!

Agree with SBF, step away from any kind of workout DVD!!!

suzym1984 · 17/11/2010 18:41

I get that heart thing too, feels really awful when it happens but then I forget as soon as it stops. Hopefully we are all normal!

Sooooo hormonal today, I couldnt stop crying this morning for no reason in particular! I had big, fat tears rolling down my cheeks and gave myself a headache! Anyone else feling weepy?

Picked up my sicknote for the rest of the week, and it does say "pregnancy related illness"so thats a relief! Hoping to get back to work on Monday.

Grannyapple · 17/11/2010 19:04

Hi all. My TPT measurement is still the same...8 & a bit, bit feel like I have exploded!

Eh, I bought that DVD & did it on Sunday but thought it a bit 'light', but I am sure I will be eating my words over the next few weeks. Plus I have been really lucky with no major aches & pains. But if doc says to take it easy then angels-take heed!

One of my friends had a wee girl on Monday-I feel kinda weird as she is the first of 3 if us to have hers....kinda makes it that wee bit more real.

I need to get my ass into gear & get organised...only ordered pram so far & nothing else..... Now starting to panic on that front. Got family down visiting this w/e then sis down at Xmas....so really need to get sorted as it will only be 7 wks at that point till d day....aah!

earlgreyismynectar · 17/11/2010 22:28

Hi all, I too get weird heart palpitations, sometimes it feels like it vibrates, like it can't beat fast enough, it does feel odd. I put it down to the additional blood but it's reassuring to hear of others experiencing the same!

Aw Suzy, I've not been so bad with runaway emotions lately but it doesn't take much at all. Just make sure you get plenty of rest while you're off & recharge those batteries. Hope you're feeling better soon. Yes the not knowing the sex can be tortuous sometimes! I've toyed with the idea of getting a 4d scan & finding out but then I never did with DD (& it was well worth waiting for the surprise!) so I'm sure if I have DVD footage of one the other will be - why don't I have that?! Etc. Plus I don't have £200 to spare! Grin

Knitta I've heard of ravelry, I'll definately check it out, I could print the patterns out at work! The last thing I was working on was a hat for DD (probably 2 years ago which, were it finished she'd point blank refuse to wear now!) it involved knit purl one colour then purl knit the other colour so it made nice ribbed stripes. I could just about cope with that but then started to get into reducing which set me in a spin. My mum is a knitter & is always there to sort out my mistakes. I think I might try a snood for my next project as that will just be a tube won't it? I'll look on ravelry for something like that. Thanks, I really do fancy getting back to it!

Congrats Prof on your new extended family addition and the other one too (sorry I don't remember). Nothing like a new baby to get us in the mood!

I have to confess to watch birth videos, mostly home birth stuff on YouTube! There are some amazing experiences out there! I find it inspirational!

Hope you're all feeling fine! I'm off to bed now with my trusty pillow!

Deliaskis · 18/11/2010 10:06

Hi Ladies,

I've not checked in here for almost a week, but glad to see most of you are doing good.

Things are fine with me, in a bit of limbo to be honest, as I kind of feel like 'late pregnancy' will be Christmas and beyond, so I'm just pottering along as I am at the moment.

Is anyone else like me and planning on being a bit of a food rebel over Christmas? I'm not going to go completely mad, but I can't imagine Christmas with absolutely no pate, prawns, brie or stilton. I figure if I know where they're from, they're fresh, and I prep them myself, I can be pretty confident about the listeria risk, and will just treat myself to small quantities.

So is is just me who is planning on being norty or is anyone else tempted?

D

PS Am now very nervous about being shouted at re the above, but I don't think we've had any shouting so far, so hopefully you're all fairly understanding ladies!

wigglesrock · 18/11/2010 10:20

Deliaskis Brie, brie and slightly more brie with cumberland sauce atop a cracker - this is my Christmas present to myself. I finish work on Christmas Eve and this is what I'm eating on Christmas Day with maybe a few selection boxes thrown in for good measure Grin

PDR · 18/11/2010 10:23

I eat prawns almost every day Blush and unless they are a known cause of SPD I am fine :)

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 18/11/2010 10:44

I'm not fussed on pate and eat prawns anyway (I asked about them last pregnancy and was told there was no problem as long as you were confident over source and storage). I've eaten stilton occasionally this pregnancy anyway. Not sure about Brie as I do like it very ripe normally. But I'm going to have to be restrained over Christmas anyway with the GD diagnosis so even having a bit of Christmas cake or some roast potatoes will be pretty darn rebellious.

smallblackflowers · 18/11/2010 11:48

good morning all! I've had some excellent news this morning - I have passed my GTT and do nor have gestational diabetes. Considering there was a 90% likelihood that I would get it again I am absolutely blown away by the news and am already planning my water-birth in the midwife-led unit (providing my placenta moves and I don't have to have a section...).
Christmas is already looking a whole lot yummier too (sorry prof Sad).

Deliaskis I've just been eyeing up the pate in Tesco, but didn't buy any - will save that for Xmas. I will also be partaking in prawns and smoked salmon (should they be on offer at my SIL's). Will probably do without the cheese as not a great cheese eater.

geekygiraffe · 18/11/2010 11:55

Glad to see some food rebels here... Not so fussed about cheese, but Christmas Eve is going to bagels & smoked salmon and champagne ; 0 Christmas Day will be selection boxes. And a (bit of) wine. I hope, although will be at tee-total PILs (gah), so that will probably keep BabyGiraffe off the booze too.

Anti-D jab tomorrow, not looking forward to it, but will let you know what happens for those other Rh- who've got it to come...

Congrats sbf, sending placenta-moving vibes your way.

Is anyone else a bit bored of this stage of pregnancy? Feel fine, but not fine enough to do everything you want?

wigglesrock · 18/11/2010 11:56

Congrats SBF, when are you having a scan to look at your pesky placenta? Mine is on 12 Jan so fingers crossed, although my fibroid appears to have disappeared Hmm. My friend loved her water birth.

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 18/11/2010 11:57

Meh, bastards (not you, Them). I don't even get the chance to try not having it as I am just assumed to. And you are the second person I know this week who's passed a GTT despite having GD in a previous pregnancy.

Still, they wouldn't let me have a water-birth in the mw-led unit anyway as I am a VBAC case. And at least I know that a GD diet stops me putting on too much weight, so I shall have the last laugh when I am back in my normal jeans two weeks after the birth, bwahahahahahaha

smallblackflowers · 18/11/2010 12:25

Thanks ladies Smile

wiggles my scan is at 32 weeks - on about the 12th December, but they will scan again 4 weeks later if it hasn't moved. Well done at getting rid of your fibroid too!

prof the midwife has told me to stick to a low refined carb diet, as any sign of glucose in my wee and I'll be back for another GTT, so I will be behaving most the time too. It is a bit rude of them to assume that you have GD though...you could always ask to be booked in for a GTT just to check!

PDR · 18/11/2010 13:05

Congrats sbf :) I just opened a box of Belgian Chocolate Truffles which were supposed to be a Christmas present for someone Blush they seem to be coated in quite bitter cocoa though so not even that fussed with them! I have my GTT on 01/12 I think.

Treated myself to a new nappy bag and it's just arrived - not sure how I am going to fit DS's stuff and baby's stuff all in one bag though!

angels1 · 18/11/2010 13:18

PDR are those M&S truffles? (remembers buying a pack there with a bitter cocoa coating recently). They were very nice, and I found they were quite strong so couldn't eat too many (always a good thing).

Glad to hear sbf will be able to induldge relatively freely at christmas. I've brought myself a special gluten free christmas pud - couldn't eat christmas lunch last year as was suffering bad ms (before mc) so am hoping to be at least able to sit at the table with my family for lunch (more than I managed last year) although the thought of the smell of turkey I find rather gagsome.

I am sooooo tired today :(

Those of you still allowed to stuff your face with chocolate I can highly recommend a festive treat of Artisan du Chocolat salted caramels which are just yummy and the nicest thing ever.

angels1 · 18/11/2010 13:32

prof if you're desperate for a choc fix could you have these choc biscuits? They are diabetic and low gylcemic

PDR · 18/11/2010 13:36

Yes angels that's the ones! Not sure I like them - what a waste of a gift! I'll give them to my Mum later! Good job they were 1/2 price!

Feeling very "can't be bothered" today - still in PJs! DS just gone down for nap - DH was home this morning and was running about with him so he's shattered now.

Anyone got exciting Christmas/NY plans? We are staying at home for Christmas but going away (40 mins drive) for a few days over NY.

angels1 · 18/11/2010 13:40

PDR we are moving house on boxing day now! Think it's going to be an exhausting festive period.

I quite liked the truffles, so pass them my way please Grin. DH didn't like them though (more for me Grin). Maybe an acquired taste. I'm also addicted to chocolate coated rice cakes. It's not really a craving, more something that is exciting as I can actually enjoy eating

Oh gosh angels - have you got a removals company booked or are you doing it yourselves ? We moved in April so I know the stress! At least you will be excused from heavy lifting etc!
