Just a new thread as I noticed we are near the limit (again)!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
angels1 · 18/11/2010 13:46

Nope, we are doing it all ourselves . We have some relatives helping on 28th with the big stuff, but hope to start moving smaller bits in on boxing day. Yikes. Haven't started packing yet, and physio has banned me from lifting, packing and unpacking due to bad back, so I feel like a big useless lump. Think I'll try to hibernate for a few days during the move Hmm.

LOL at all my fellow food rebels.

Since writing the above, I have actually been for a business lunch and had prawns, pate, stilton and brie! I had obviously hit a wall of denial and rebelled in a big way!

Will try and behave myself a bit better until the Christmas do!

D

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 18/11/2010 13:53

I might give them a try (but, to be honest, it's more the caramel end of things that I miss, and I've yet to see anyone come up with low-GI caramel).

PDR · 18/11/2010 14:03

I feel some funny twitching down below - maybe my cervix? Like someone is tugging on it!

Bizzare!

wigglesrock · 18/11/2010 14:29

PDR I was woken by baby moving at about 4am, that and an almighty need to pee Grin and they have not stopped since!!!

NeedToSleepZZZ · 18/11/2010 14:32

PDR Thought you were going to new york for christmas as I misread you post... oops, that's what happens when listening to the archers at some time as mnetting! Sounds strange to have tugging on your cervix but bet it's 'one of those pregnancy things'. Is it painful?

I bought some heat pads this morning for my backache and can't believe I didn't get some before, bliss!

So sorry about the gd Prof, really sucks, especially over christmas. Will ask my step mum if she has any ideas for goodies for diabetics as she's severely affected (had pancreas removed now) but is a major foodie! Quite incredible really as she runs every day and almost completely controls her blood sugar levels with food and exercise. Oh and congratulations on the new arrival, enjoy the cuddles!

angels got everything crossed for you that the move goes well and really quickly! We're more or less done now and I love the new place, just need to get the chimney sweep in to make a mess everywhere. Definitely agree with your idea to hibernate!

Saw my gp yesterday (have had problems with mental health stuff this year and on and off since my teenage years) and he's really pleased with me but has said it's now time to slow down. Really hope I'll be able to go back to work a some point in the future, I feel bad for everyone having to work through their pregnancies but I would love to just have a little part time thing but not ready yet.

knitta thank you for the reassurance, I do look bigger and feel heavier but will check with mw tomorrow to be certain.

americanexpat · 18/11/2010 15:38

angels - good luck with the move! We are almost certainly moving before the baby arrives - I'm looking forward to moving but not the actual moving part of it. I feel like a lump making DH do all the hard work but he says he doesn't mind.

I've been eating cooked blue cheese all along and I'm planning to move on to cooked brie-like cheeses soon (not willing to take the risk on uncooked cheese). I've also been eating runny eggs and drinking wine occasionally. I'd never shout at anyone for eating "forbidden" foods, we all know the risks and make our decision accordingly.

Now lusting over the salted caramels that Prof posted. The box of 108 would do me for breakfast...

angels1 · 18/11/2010 15:46

PDR i sometimes get a really really odd feeling like the baby is trying to claw it's way around my tummy Confused

needtosleep great news from your GP :)

Feel quite sheltered as the naughtiest I think I've been with eating the no go/potentially dangerous foods has been to eat bagged salad without washing it first Hmm . I actually thought that considering brandy butter with my christmas pud this year was living dangerously Blush

OP posts:
PDR · 18/11/2010 15:47

NeedToSleep I wish I was going to New York!

Just popped to Homebase to get tester pot of paint as DS drew marker pen on the wall whilst I was cooking mnetting Blush so hopefully it will dry in time and DH will be none the wiser!

Cervix twitching (if that's even what it is) isn't really painful just odd. It's gone now...

americanexpat · 18/11/2010 16:05

Meant to add that I've been having some strange feelings in my cervix but I assumed it was the baby kicking or punching it. Like a bubble popping but maybe twitching is a better description.

ledkr · 18/11/2010 16:45

angels you need to get calf pain checked please,it sounds like cramp but do get it checked.

angels1 · 18/11/2010 17:04

really ledkr? Bit late now - I'll leave it tonight and see if it's better tomorrow (still muscle aches). Have been checking for swelling/bruising but nothing suspicious DVT looking ish.

ledkr · 18/11/2010 17:05

hi allGreat news re mrs teapot.I often think about chloe and knitta not twitta too.
On the subject of movements,i was just helping dd with a tap move she is having trouble with and noticed that id i shake my bump side to side i can feel it swishing and the baby rattling about sooo weird, try it.
I have ben vile and hormonal today and had amassive cry this avo.
It was actually very funny looking back.I asked dh to move some of his junk from the utilty room(clothes, trainers and a box of half written xmas cards)He replied that surely thats what utility rooms are for. I was holding a spoonfull of olives at the time which i was about to put into a salad.I threw them half at him and half on the floor and said "well in that case they can f'ing well go there as well"I then burst into tears and went upto bed to sulk.
Feel abit over tired, night times are becoming asort of half asleep state which involves frequent wees and turning over,i dont find the pillows that helpfull and keep waking up on my back with backache and pain in my abdo. When i get up to wee in the en suite which is very nr the bed i usually let out a big loud fart and me and dh end up in hysterics,i will be glad to go back to being normal.Whatever that was.

ledkr · 18/11/2010 17:08

You are looking for swellingand any puckering of the skin, also if it was a dvt you would be unable to squeeze he calf without nearly fainting with pain. Sorry i didnt mean to be a scaremonger i was catching up ad got to page 33 and saw your post so posted straight away in case i forgot.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 18/11/2010 17:38

ledkr {grin} at your night time antics, sounds like OH and me! He now thinks he can blame his on me wherever we are as he says people will just assume it's the pregnant woman, NOT FUNNY!

Have tried swinging from side to side and it's really strange, can feel him in there... He can make my tummy make very funny shapes now as well, almost tent like sometimes, I love it and sure it's where the term navel gazing comes from.

I thought I was the only one mad enough to move whilst pregnant and I wish everyone that's about to do the same the best of luck!

ledkr · 18/11/2010 18:00

i just couldnt do it tbh.It bad enough just getting ready for xmas and a baby.
We will all be swinging our bumps now isnt it a strange feeling.
DD has just come back from her first tap class and is now doing my nut in tapping in the kitchen and scratching my tiled floor.

knittakid · 18/11/2010 19:07

how lovely needto! I think I felt the shape of a foot last night high up my ribs...

Lol ledkr...

just a quick post as DH said to me that this morning woman's hour was devoted to preg. and childbirth. thought it might be worth catiching up on: www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00vy305

and yes...he works from home and does listen to woman's hour, (now I hope he doesn't read this...)

knittakid · 18/11/2010 19:09

catiching??? catching. What a waste of the 869th message.

NeedToSleepZZZ · 18/11/2010 19:40

thanks for that knitta will listen to it in a minute whilst getting through the mountain of ironing that has miraculously appeared from nowhere! my OH now listens to the afternoon play after i introduced him to radio 4 and loves it!

byronicheroine · 19/11/2010 07:58

Morning all, glad you're all doing ok. chocolate is always good!
My mum also texted me about the Woman's hour programme and I'm going to listen to it work now.
I have a friend who just told me she's pregnant too, but her husband has just started his 9 months of military service, and she's having a really tough time - both with living with her Greek in-laws (she's American) and with first trimester sickness and tiredness. I told her she could come and throw up in peace in our bathroom anytime Sad but i don't know what else i can really do to help.
Now the girls at work are worried about pregnancy being catching... Grin

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 19/11/2010 09:46

Where DH used to work there was "The Chair" and rumour that sitting in that particular chair got you pregnant, because it worked that way for a succession of women in the department... Grin

knittakid · 19/11/2010 10:23

how funny needto, he introduced me to the archers as his family are very into it and he grew up with the sound of it, I must say I used to enjoy it more when I didn't understand what they were saying.

byroni I can't imagine going through pregnancy alone, how awful for her, completely understand, who would you shout at?

Just got terribly upset at a video in which a cat scares off an aligator, I am at the point of tears, nothing happens to the cat, but the fact that it could have happened is enough...

Reporting on another front, I've started doing the perineal massage thing... a bit early but alright with the midwife, and also told my family about planning a hb, they weren't too pleased, my grandma said even princesses go to hospitals, what on earth can she mean????

NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/11/2010 10:42

prof there was a little grassy mound in the garden where i worked whilst studying and lots of the women got pg after sitting there...

knitta can i ask (tell me to sod off if you like!) what oil you're using for the massage? i'm quite keen to start doing this soon too. also, sorry if this is a bit graphic for a friday morning, i read that having a spray oil for crowning is useful (i don't think they mean crisp 'n' dry either!) and reduces the risk of tearing but not sure what oil... Hmm

angels1 · 19/11/2010 11:04

Yes I had wondered about thinking about perineal massage but was thinking since I'm prone to almost constant thrush during pg whether it might just inflame the thrush issue (????). I've read in quite a few of the birthing stories in the Ina May book how they seem to use oil during birth to help stop tearing (I think) and I wondered if this was something the NHS ever do Hmm

OP posts:
NeedToSleepZZZ · 19/11/2010 11:32

morning angels! hope you're okay. i'm not sure about the connection between using oil and thrush, good question. maybe you could ask your gp as she seems to be quite good now.

i found this if anyone's interested (about oil etc for perineal massage and during birth)
