Due July 2011?

1000 replies

MadAboutTheBoys · 24/10/2010 07:42

Just got my BFP this morning and so excited! Managed this conception while DH was out of the country so very chuffed that it worked! Already have two DS, one who is 3.2 and an August birthday and one who is 16 months and a June birthday so bring on the Summer parties!

Have never been part of an antenatal club on here before but as this is planned to be my last pregnancy am hoping to find some other July mums to share the journey with (although know I am very early!) Am already worrying how the birth will go as DS2 was born unexpectedly in the kitchen after a 90 min labour with the midwife only just there to catch him, so am a bit worried if subsequent labours are supposed to go quicker whether I will have anyone with me for this one, but at least I have a while to go yet!

Thanks Ladygonegaga
Yes was thinking about it being the nuchal scan, I will leave the appointment as is and can always go back 2 weeks later.

BrassicaBabe · 22/11/2010 13:15

Afternoon all

I'm finding myself a little bored now Blush. No timed shagging, no daily temping, no OPKs and I've even given up the HPTs BlushGrin

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 13:20

I know what you mean, Brassica. Although I'm not yet ready to give up HPT's. Got one last Digi left which I'm saving to check it's gone to 3 weeks plus. and then a multitude of cheapies left... Grin

Hear you on the shagging. Poor DP. Feast to famine.

BrassicaBabe · 22/11/2010 13:23

When I was pg last cycle I spent a fortune on HPTs, so when I started again the following cycle I bough 100 HPTs from ebay for about 12quid. So I'm a long way from running out! Blush I saved my last digi one and used it on Saturday. Most happy to see "3+" Grin

StormBird · 22/11/2010 13:24

LOL I know what you mean too Brassica & Lady - my DP asked if were'nt going to have sex now until after the baby is born. I was in stitches - then he got the hump cos I laughed at him - Bless him, I must make it up to him but I can't be bothered.

I am sooo tired now its untrue! Plus the nausea is constant although I am not constantly being sick thank god. I've been drinking ginger ale at home as it seems to help, but I drank that last time I was PG too so if I bring it in to work someone is bound to start a runour Hmm

Can anyone tell me why my hips feel funny, especially my right one, sometimes when I stand its like its giving way - is this some kind of pregnancy side effect?

nicolamumof3 · 22/11/2010 13:33

i actually felt worse on saturday after eating. So wasn't the answer this time, in my three prev pg's i stuffed my face to stave off the ms!! Have found these seabands a godsend tho Smile

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/11/2010 13:36

I wonder if we could put unused HPTs on ebay? I've got 18 left and will probably torture myself with them daily unless I get rid of them!

I have the odd combination of being extremely keen on sex but too tired to do anything about it!

Also have ENORMOUS breasts, my two best friends guessed at the weekend as soon as they saw me/them.

Can't help with the hips sorry StormBird but I am attributing every twinge to pregnancy.

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 14:07

Storm could be pregnancy related. Think body produces relaxin that loosens all your ligaments up ready for birth. Unfortunately for some woman it loosens everything up a bit oo much and they get pelvic pain. Seems a bit early though although not unheard of. You might want to mention to midwife (or GP if not seeing midwife for ages)

nicolamumof3 · 22/11/2010 14:15

my lovely super comfy carriwell bras just arrived. I can be in comfort yet again! Grin

Hello everyone,

Just discovered this thread - I'm due on the 8th of July and found out 3 weeks ago. Very excited but can't wait for 12-week scan to make sure everything is OK! Will be great to tell everyone around Christmas time. P.P.S. Does anyone know where to go for a decent brah-fitting? My brahs are getting a bit small, but I'm only a B-cup so perhaps I can just get some ordinary C-cup brahs? Advice anyone?

sugargirl1 · 22/11/2010 14:24

Hi
I'm a bit shellshocked as just discovered I'm pregnant with DC2 while DD is only 13months old and was finaly concieved thru IVF after 3 years of trying. We didn't use any birth control to see what would happen and I just can't believe that I've gotten pregnant naturaly. Feel a bit guilty that I feel soo shocked but am soo over the moon. Anyone else still shocked by the surprise. DC2 is due July 28th apparently!! Shock

Twit · 22/11/2010 14:34

yes, I always had to eat a bit of chocolate or a sweet immediately after eating otherwise I'd feel worse. Confused
It's suvh a personal thing though this sicknes lark

They laughed because I was adamant after dd that I would have no more. About a year later I phoned them again...
I'm not going to phone yet. Maybe later in the year week.

MissLolita · 22/11/2010 14:50

Hello all, I hope you are all doing ok?
I thought I would share something cringe-worthy with you all in the hope it will make you smile. I had drinks with some old school friends on Friday and one of the girls has 2 DDs one of whom she is in the process of organising a school place for in September. It was a very lengthy story about how her DD was one of 250 girls fighting for one of 20 places at a school but her DD is apparently at a massive advantage because her birthday is 2 September so she is one of the oldest and therefore will perform the best in tests Biscuit. She ended the story by saying that in her opinion people that have Summer babies are verging on irresponsible because they are putting their children at a natural disadvantage! Hmm

Obviously had my friend known about me there is no-way she would have ever said this and I would imagine that when I tell her she will be rather embarrassed! Anyway, it made me smile ? because of course we all plan these things on purpose...! Grin

confuddledDOTcom · 22/11/2010 15:20

Just read through and saw I?m not the only one with Hughes Syndrome (although we?ve used different names for it) in this group.

Lady, are you taking Aspirin under the doctor? It can make a big difference to pregnancy outcomes but should be monitored (not telling you off, just confused Smile) and are you taking dissolvable or tablets? I have to keep telling my doctors (GP and consultant!) that dissolvable shouldn?t be taken long term on a daily basis (which reminds me I didn?t even check what I was given today, oh it?s OK, good GPWink) as it causes stomach ulcers.

MissLolita I have PGP and was told last time to take the pain killers like a course because otherwise you get peaks and troughs and the medication isn?t as effective. Look up PGP because sciatica is part of it and the tips will help you.

My eldest was born in July should have been September so she has gone up a year. Her birthday has not held her back at all, she's a very bright girl and I think would have suffered for being back a year.

Stormbird sounds like you have PGP too, let your MW know. The good news is though that PGP that starts early tends to get better later on in pregnancy.

Sugargirl, it?s surprisingly common! Once you?ve been pregnant it?s like your body thinks this is normal and tries to get pregnant again. There are photos of quads up at the NNU my babies were in, IVF babies and mum was pregnant before the quads were home!

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/11/2010 15:24

Congratulations buttonmoon!

MissLolita I would pay no heed to your friend. From the dim and distant memory of primary shool tests were always weighted to take the child's birth month into account. very cringey when she finds out Smile

MissLolita · 22/11/2010 15:33

Thanks confuddled, I'll take a look! I'm pleased you say it tends to get better though!!

Sugargirl, buttonmoon and smiler congratulations and welcome!

I feel obliged to add that my friend is an uber-competitive alpha-mummy and when she finds out whe is likley to say that her children are super-bright and talented anyway. I do love her very much though and she is a lovely friend! Grin

Ivegotmrbitey · 22/11/2010 15:52

I've got one of those, she is five months pregnant and confided to me on Friday that it would probably take me a while to conceive given my husband's lifestyle. Only managed to keep a straight face by wondering what was so very bad about his lifestyle! I can't wait to tell her after the scan Grin

emilyplus1 · 22/11/2010 16:04

hi there every1,
Found out last week that we r expecting our 2nd in july bit of a shock as we hadnt been tryin long and our little girl who is 16mths was also born in july. Think we r due on the 12th so that would make me 6+6 still early days. Went to the docs to day to get registerd for the mw so hopefully booking appointment wont b to far away then it will start to feel real. :o

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 16:05

Miss lolita I was born mid-August so started school on the crack of turning 4. and not to show off but I was always one of the better ones in the year . So is bollocks. Think of it on the other end - as a summer baby you have a whole year to do what you like with at the end of school/uni - travel, extra study, work, have fun - compared to your September peers.

Confuddled not under the Doctor but will discuss it with them when I get my consultant appt through. They won't test or give me any help despite my family history as have only lost one baby. I know I have thryoid anti-bodies from previous unrelated blood work and am medicated for my thryoid anyway. It is low dose aspirin anyway so fairly harmless. I'm taking the tablets by the way. I don't want to go through another mc without trying something so simple. Even if has a placebo effect!

Avoid M&S for maternity bra's - they are rubbish and will tell you you are a G cup when you definitely ARE NOT!. If you have a Bravissimo near you go there for a fitting. they are fab. I buy all my nursing bras from there as they manage to give you a shape even without underwires. But try not to spend much - you will find you go through a lot of different sizes before you give birth andafterwards. My underwear drawer looks like the Primark bargain bucket!

LadyGoneGaga · 22/11/2010 16:06

Should have also said, Huge congrats to evryone who has just got their BFP! Grin

BeatrixRotter · 22/11/2010 16:07

Just checking in to moan as have 24 hour nausea though I am glad that I am not actually being sick. I was feeling very sorry for myself yesterday but realised today I am going to have to manage the situation so I have been eating little and often and drinking plenty and it hasn't been so bad. Having said that I have been working from home today so have not actually had to go anywhere or look after DD.

I wanted to keep quiet about being pg a little bit longer (will be 7 weeks this week) but I have been invited to a big hen do in a couple of weeks and am meant to rsvp to various things including late night clubbing which is so not going to happen. So I am wondering whether to fess up rather than risking causing offence.

Congrats to everyone who has joined!

BeatrixRotter · 22/11/2010 16:11

I second Bravissimo for fittings. Elsewhere I think it is just the luck of the draw.

tebbles · 22/11/2010 16:47

Ive heard from teachers that the younger summer babies only have have difficulties for the first couple of years of school. By year 2 the whole class group settles down and evens out and it is hard to identify the younger children. Also as they are individuals it is silly to generalise as all children develop at different rates and some summer babies wont have any problems at all!!

One benefit for the WHOLE family is that as they go to school earlier, there are less nursery/child minders fees to pay!
