New trimester, new thread. Here's to us becoming grumpy, impatient, fat and uncomfy while counting down the days... :o [hhmm] :o

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Crystylline · 04/01/2011 15:45

Ladybuzz you got there first with the swap offer! Dang it! Grin

I wouldn't buy a new moses basket mattress IIWU - but they are v. cheap (think mine was £10-15.00) if you do want to.

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 15:55

Thanks Crystalline. I did call the hospital about 3pm and they have just called back to confirm ECV on Thursday afternoon so that's all good. Just hope it works now!

I've also had a burst of energy and I've washed up and oiled the tagine for tonight's dinner. I'm not getting out of my PJs though :)

Well done on everyone who's baby is behaving. My mum did tell me a story last night that my sister was engaged 5 weeks before due date and she went 2 weeks over so for 7 weeks my sister spun on her head Grin. She's always had something of the Exorcist about her!

AmIGoingMad · 04/01/2011 16:28

So much to catch up on again! Smile
jjkm so pleased that the twins are doing well!
gallicgirl oiled the tagine?! I'm very impressed! You're one busy lady! and running with the swimming!
ladybuzz I wouldn't be happy with hubby working away at this stage and I'm due on 27th- people keep saying 'oo-could be any time now' and I would stress myself out if he was too far away- he manages to calm me down usually but labour will be a whole new ball game I'm sure!!!!
I went in for the INSET today and am now officially free! (other than the marking and reports that have to be done by mon-aargh!)
Also had MW appt and after some serious prodding was told that head is 4/5 engaged. I always have to apologise to the little one when leaving MW as she just prods and pokes so much! Sorry if tmi but was also given a swab to do myself cos of discharge- never had to do one myself so tomorrow morning could be interesting! Confused
Finishing washing hubby's socks now and then starting on the baby clothes washing- exciting!

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 17:18

Goingmad - interesting about swab. I've found GP isn't interested and is happy to presume it's always thrush with little discussion and no exam.

And I'm definitely NOT busy! Took about 5 minutes to oil the tagine and maybe another 10 to cut veg and brown meat. I've not used it before so I just hope it doesn't explode in the oven.

Enjoy the washing. It's lovely seeing all the little sleepsuits drying Grin

RockLover · 04/01/2011 17:27

Gosh I was just reading about the swabbing and it has occurred to me I have had lots of white discharge throughout my pregnancy. It does not smell and there is no itchiness or discomfort, so I've ignored it.

Now I'm suddenly panicking it could be thrush, I just thought it was normal (remember having loads of discharge with dd). If it is thrush, would I have harmed the baby ignoring it??

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 17:43

No, that sounds normal. I think it's nasty smells, itchiness and yellow/green colours which should ring alarm bells.......with everyone except my GP.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 04/01/2011 17:49

Some extra discharge is fine - as it's not smelly or uncomfortable I wouldn't worry about it Rock

Blimmin' 'eck though, you can tell the majority of us are on maternity leave - this thread has picked up the pace somewhat!! :o

gallic you booked in for an ECV this Thursday??!! If so, very jealous at your imminent arrival!! :)

LadyB I'm not even driving to my sister's 40 mins away atm in case I go early - DH's don't think things through - mine keeps leaving his mobile at home when he goes out so by the time he gets home I'm fuming and tell him I've had the baby and sorry he missed it! Hmm :o. You and me are bound to still be pg in Feb at this rate. Oh pants, you're booked in for an ECV too. Maybe it'll just be me then!! :)

crystylll very pleased you won something in the Christmas comps, and not at all Envy. Honest. Just Happy For You. Really. I Am. Xmas Grin

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 17:54

Hmm - i've had no mucas or anything - maybe i should be paying bit more attention to all that !

Baby has not stopped kicking all day. I'm seeing m/w on thurs - but can't see that baby is anywhere near engaged yet!

ladybuzz think i'd be a bit annoyed about DH too - but depends if you need money or not...

Afraid to say i've been in PJs for 2 days going, but then I've been ill so had an excuse Hmm!

gallic love the exorcist story!

I'm planning to make some lemon drizzle next week - when I feel better -for my mum's freezer for when we have visitors after the birth!

Pleased everyone's finally getting onto their maternity leave at last!

I'm secretly getting excted about seeing DH - 3 weeks tomorrow. Haven't seen him since 20th Nov!

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 18:04

LadyBubbaAndBump - imminent arrival???! chokes I'm told the risk of ECV bringing on labour is just 0.5% Confused

I'm hoping the ECV turns the baby and I then sit back for another week or two until normal labour starts. I shall be pretty upset if I'm a mum by the weekend :(

I know what you mean about maternity leave and thread traffic though Grin I think I've done little but lurk on internet for most of the day.

Cupcakes - why have you not seen DH for so long? Does he work away? I think I'd be wanting him home at this stage hugs to you

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 18:15

gallic - My DH works for the Foreign Office, so we currently live in Syria. I'm back at my parents for giving birth, but DH only gets 2 weeks pat leave and then adding 2 weeks normal leave on top - so he's coming on 26th - and baby is due 30th. This way, if worse case scenario happens and I have to get induced, DH can spend some time with baby after birth before having to go back. And then he's going to come back for a week maybe 6 weeks after birth to pick me and baby up - and take us home to my cats!!! Grin

Sounds complicated - but it's OK.

When do I need to start worrying about the baby engaging?

And gallic when are you due, and do you know what you are having?

And bubba - why have I got the 11th in my head for you? Or was that someone else???

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 18:19

Ah, I remember now. How's Syria? I'd love to go to Iran at some point when times improve. I had a student from there who was so friendly.

I'm due on the 18th and we're having a girl........or Stewie Griffin! lol.

I hope your plans work out and I can totally understand why the complicated situation is necessary. It's good that you have family around you but nothing beats having your partner there.

LadyBubbaAndBump · 04/01/2011 18:22

Sorry gallic - baby brain mixing ECV up with ECS!!!!! [frgin] Xmas Hmm Xmas Blush

And cupcakes I've got a sweep booked for next Tuesday, so hoping all will be ready for things to start going, but not holding out much hope. Trying to convince DH to jump me to help things on their way!! :o

LadyBubbaAndBump · 04/01/2011 18:23

Who the hell is Father Gin?? Freudian slip there!!! Xmas Grin

gallicgirl · 04/01/2011 18:34

mmmmmm sweet sweet gin...... Grin

No problem LadyBubba Thought for a moment I'd been given duff information. It would also mean I'd have to iron some baby things before Thursday. The iron and I are happy strangers.

Wink

Good luck with the sweep. maybe you need to tell the DH to man up and do his manly duty for England?!

LadyBubbaAndBump · 04/01/2011 18:39

What is this contraption 'iron' you speak of? What purpose does it carry out?

I've tried telling him - honestly, with this gorgeous bod and hormental moods, I can't see why he's not pawing at me all day every day!! Hmm Grin

goes off to smell the gin bottle

RockLover · 04/01/2011 19:36

Phew about the discharge, soz about TMI. Blush

I have done so much baby clothes washing today and I still haven't finished, I'm actually rather sick of tumble drying now.

Had a kitchen disaster and torched the honey roast parsnips that I'd made to go with our roast chicken. Cue me having a near hysterical meltdown when DP got home over a few burnt vegetables, think I'm losing the plot!

I have the flat to myself tonight as dp is out at the cinema with a mate, so hopefully I can try and relax a little. However, have to get dd out of the bath and into bed on time ready for school tomorrow first. Oh and do another 1000 or so loads of tumble drying. Grrrrrr!

Crystylline · 04/01/2011 20:13

ironing [chortle] my mother ironed all my baby clothes the other week - that'll be the first and last time that happens!

rock bless your culinary brouhaha...

and hurrah for mat leave!

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 20:40

Aaah - first day back at school afetr Christmas hols - how horrid for DD and how lovely for you rock

I've been watching depressing Eastenders - am i wrong to want to take a sharpie marker into hospital and signing baby's foot???

And finally emailling friends back. Feeling 100% better and really think i might be able to lie down in bed tomo night. Even if Dh was here - the way i feel at mo no chance of him comign anywhere near me - so all credit to you bubba!

And yes gallic amazing to have parents who are fab - cos they make me dinner and do my washing for me! And even though I help out where i can - it's so relaxed and easy that I don't think and the days drift by - especially great when I was so ill! it'll actually be weird when DH gets here and ruins our equillibrium!

Syria is lovely - very relaxed & very friendly with lovely food - and so hot - can't wait to feel the heat again!

Gringallic Stewie Griffin!

RockLover · 04/01/2011 21:23

Yes, I must admit dd is not really looking forward to it after weeks of late nights and doing exactly what she pleases every day.

While she is at school I will be doing more washing, packing my hospital bags, ordering last minute stuff (like bedding) and having my pre-birth mw appt (when they finally manage to fit me in).

I must admit I am starting to panic slightly now that my due date is looming. The car seat, pushchair, moses basket, steriliser and bottles are all still up in Oxfordshire and will not be transported down here by my parents until I'm in labour. I really want them here now! Although I am grateful that so many things have been donated, can't help feeling a bit edgey that all the stuff is not with me yet.

I also have to organise my parents a b & b to stay in when they come down as we only have a 2 bedroom flat and no sofa bed. I feel very guilty that I can't offer them a spare room and only hope we can afford to give them some money towards the cost.

Good God, I've just bloody remembered that my bedroom is still to be sorted and junk thrown/charity shopped/tidied away. Even the cot is still full of our Christmas presents where we dumped them before heading off for New Year at my parents. I think I might have a fainting fit in a minute!

LadyBuzz · 04/01/2011 21:32

PMSL at the sharpie marker cupcakes

I do not iron either - anything - ever Grin

bubba I have no doubt that if I wasn't booked in I would be there until the bitter end waiting for my baby - I must be really comfy, neither of the boys showed any sign of coming themselves!

DH is not working I have laid down the law, we don't need the money, yes it would be nice with crappy paternity pay but its not essential. They just don't think!

I am loving being off work Grin Grin

CupcakesHay · 04/01/2011 23:24

rock poor you having to sort all that - and I know what you mean about feelign better having everything - i'm chsing halfords abotu the car seat as I had a weird emsail saying i should have received everything - when i haven't.

And i'm serious about the sharpie marker! I've watched too many "true switched at birth" movies not to contemplate it.

Good move on putting your foot down ladybuzz - and what date are you going in again?

I'm watching the omen praying my baby doesn't end up like Damien!

cyberfairy · 05/01/2011 08:14

I am jealous of those who are on maternity leave-I am back today for a week and reckon I'm going to struggle due to lack of sleep. Thrashed around in bed so much last night that even the pillowcases were off the pillows. On the plus side being at work gets me away from the reduced selection boxes I can't stop eating...

RockLover · 05/01/2011 09:38

Just got back from dropping dd off at school for her first day back and now I feel a bit low. She is having a bit of a problem managing a friendship in her class and it's making her miserable. I wish I could help her, but as it's not a case of bullying, it's something she really does need to sort out herself.

I can't wait to pick her up later and give her a big cuddle. I've promised I'll play all her new board games with her tonight.

Getting up early this morning to do lunch and ironing was horrid, I'm feeling a tad crappy now, sicky and tired. The tumble drier is already on and I have loads of clean baby clothes to sort out and iron. I also have another wash waiting to go on. I really can't be arsed today, I think I overdid it yesterday.

I may do a spot of online retail therapy and sort out those last bits and pieces.

Hope everyone else is well and happy on this Wednesday morning. :)

LadyBubbaAndBump · 05/01/2011 09:54

Poor thing Rock - think you're right to let her sort it out for herself. Girls and their friendships!

I'm with you about feeling crappy getting up early - I'm being a real spoilt brat and wanting DH to take the girls to nursery so I can stay in bed (we stupidly forgot to cancel early drop-off payments, so 3 days a week we're paying for them to be there at half-seven and I'm too scottish to pay and not use it!). The girls however asked me if I could take them, and other than being a lazy arse, I have no legitimate reason for not taking them... :)

Leave the ironing - seriously woman, what are you on?!! :o

RockLover · 05/01/2011 10:04

I am currently on caffiene and chocolate and I think the ironing can go hang, I really don't feel like it. What I feel like is going back to bed, but that would be horridly lazy wouldn't it?

God I have so much to do and all I feel like doing is hibernating until a baby magically appears (with no effort or pain on my part). Why did bloody Eve have to eat that apple and earn us women painful childbirth? Meh.
